What rom are you using ? - LG Nitro HD

ok guys !!
share what rom are you using ?
and the specific reasons for it !

stock V11a rom - rooted
i am using it because it actually has decent battery life (unlike the v10 series) and because i am waiting for tuesday to put Cyano on it.
I would also like to see the different reasons for using particular roms, good thread idea

@ aaki_rocker what is your rom and why?
For me lol.. depend on what i work on.. right now i use cm-9-20120629-UNOFFICIAL-p930 (my compiled CM9 test build)

CM9 RC1. Running like gravy since it launched. Its fast, smooth, and offers pretty sweet battery life even without HONOs kernel. Oh, and many of the things they released a couple days ago at the Google IO conference work on ICS(google chrome for android is ICS+ only).
Just a few of the perks of running a CM9 rom.

im using hono! not with hono kernel since max keep goin down to 100mhz

i switch between your flashable ics leak and nightly's of cm9 !
i do nandroid backups of the ics leak before flashing cm9 and i restore it if i get bored ! lol !
and what is the difference between your compiled build and the one from cm team ?
i'll give it a try though !

Cm9-rc. Flashed this morning running quite well.
Was running 0616 nightly lots of random random reboots and Bluetooth issues.

CM9 RC1. I've hit a few FC glitches, but it may be due to my fault. I'll reflash in the near future and see what I get.

CM9 6/28 with HONO kernel v4
Just like to stay on top of things

I'm running RC1 with HO!NO! V5 kernel. Its pretty smooth but I do get some occasional FCs. I like it though. And I change themes almost daily.
Edit: Having more force loses than i would like. It has been getting worse and worse. But Still like the fuidity of the rom, But could use a little more butter

CM9 6/30 with HO!NO! V5 kernel. So far fast and GREAT battery usage (still at 100% for the past 2 hours). :good:

Stock gingerbread ROM with HONO's kernel for me! CM9 just isn't as smooth for me, and while the ICS leak is as smooth (if not a smidge smoother than GB stock), the screen digitizer driver seems to not be perfectly calibrated (most noticeable and annoying when using swype or other "dragging/drawing" apps) on the ICS leak, AND it seems in ICS they screwed with the way zooming on images is handled.
1.) First, when web browsing, text doesn't auto align like it used to in GB, regardless of browser (with the exception of Opera, but I don't really like that browser very much)
2.) In email apps which DO allow pinch to zoom on emails with lots of images (such as touchdown and K-9), you can't seem to zoom out anymore in ICS when you could in gingerbread, so you're forced to have to slide around a ginormous email image to take a look at it rather than zoom out entirely and get an overview.
If anyone else knows of an email app that allows pinch to zoom to zoom OUT of a large email far enough to get a complete page overview in ICS, let me know. (I'm aware K-9 and touchdown still allow the zoom function, but they seem to cap how far you can zoom out in ICS far below getting a full image, when this isn't the case for these programs in gingerbread. Some strange global setting in ICS, it seems...)

i use maildroid !
i dont know whether pinch zoom is supported or not but its worth a shot !

I've tried fixing permissions to get rid of the force close but nothing. But itabnot force close in a sence. Its whenever I try to start an app, of the phone process, or the system setting, it say that unfortunately the *process name* is not responding. I've flashed the rom 3 times consecutively and the kernel and fixed permissions and the same things still happens. :-/. Guess its just my luck

Thanks for the suggestion!
I gave it a shot. Unfortunately, it also won't allow zooming out on emails if installed on ics even though when it's installed on gingerbread, it zooms out just fine. It's definitely a systemic issue on all ics-based roms for all phones. People have been complaining about it for all ics phones, not just the Nitro. Oh well. Till they change that, I'm sticking with gingerbread! Because of what I work with, tons of my emails are ginormous, and I need to be able to get a full overview for it to be useful. I don't have any major qualms with gingerbread anyway. Honestly, I just wanted to get rid of the color banding, but that'll just have to wait =P

Is gingerbread worth it over Froyo roms?

Hey guys im curious is there anyone who has been able to fully replace EC05 roms with one of the gingerbread roms availalbe? And in doing so keeping the stability, battery performance, and speed of the EC05 roms? I've personally gone from an amazing experience with ACS SFR 1.2 to Ginger Bamboozled and ERA hurricane rom and personally have not seen any benefits with keeping gingerbread. I notice no battery improvements and the phone has slowed down significantly. The only plus i've seen with gingerbread is the cool CRT off animation. Note i've never run the commands to stop processes that update in the background i.e. DRM and SNS, which from what I read make a fairly big difference with getting better battery life on EH17 roms. So at this point I'm thinking of going back to SFR 1.2 or another EC05 rom. Is there someone out there that can give me some useful tips on how to make the Gingerbread roms run smoother for me or am I just wasting my time? Also I used to get random Reboots on Gingerbread but i've noticed that it has stopped, odd. Oh almost forgot I use my keyboard all the time for writing emails for work and not having the skipped letters fix is so annoying. I want to shoot my phone sometimes.
Have you tried Spare Parts and setting all animations to FAST in it? I am on Bonsai B14 EG22 and my phone is about as fast as it was on EC05 ROMs. I do stop all processes when I first boot and have a few frozen with Titanium.

I don't care if that does anything for the actual speed or not...its a hell of a placebo effect. Another thing is you could oc with tegrak
As of right now, I don't see any advantage of using a Gingerbread Rom. I was in the same boat as you. I tried a few of them but due to the random reboots and keyboard skips, I couldn't take it anymore. I'm now using the Epic Revolution Rom and I love it. I won't be going back to Gingerbread till the official release.

Depends on the apps you have
I'm running the ERA OLYMPUS 1.6 EH06 ROM. I hoard apps and that's really bad for performance of the device and battery. I haven't frozen the SNS/Updates but I freeze the DRM every time I install a ROM anyway. I just managed to get all the apps that like running in the background to not do that by messing with the settings and clearing widgets. I can now last at least 5 hours on battery while actually using the phone. My battery life has been about the same on every ROM I've ever used. I would say to try this ROM with Journaling enabled and running Chris' new EH17 Plus kernel. I am also using the EH17 modem. Everything is working pretty well for me now.
No good reason to keep the leaks. However, if you are converted to ext4 and use the v6 supercharge script its as smooth and responsive as sfr 1.2 at 1.4ghz.

I've been dealing with the same dilemma the past week. I've found that there's really no pros to keeping the gb roms. Although I really like the theme on bamboozle as well as my quadrant stats. Speaking of which, can anyone tell me where I can get the SII lockscreen that comes with bamboozle? It's definitely my preferred lock screen. If anyone can help that'd be awesome thanks!
Thanks for good responses
Thanks guys for all the feedback, I think i'm being swayed more towards the EC05 roms until the release of gingerbread source files. I think the biggest thing now that look at it is the keyboard letter skips. I rely on my phones keyboard far to much to write really fast work emails and no matter how I setup my virtual keyboard or auto correction on TouchPal keyboard or Swype, its just not accurate enough and I waste more time trying to fix the auto corrections. Thanks again everyone and I really hope this thread assist others with making a their choices on which Rom to Choose or which version of Rom to choose. Froyo here I come.... now i gotta figure out if I want to go with Era or ACS lol.
In my opinion, no. After trolling all around using GB Leaks I finally came back to Froyo (Bonsai 4.1.3) because of the stability and speed.
I think its best just to wait for something official when it can be polished and tweaked with.
I too have been up and down the development pages, trying out different roms an modems, froyo and GB. Froyo was cool when i was using it, but I like the way GB looks. I actually had more problems with the Froyo roms than with GB roms, but that could be bc im getting better at rooting.
Right now im running RandomROM 2.3.4 on the EG22 modem with generation x theme. I get a couple of framework fc's throughout the day, but it doesnt seem to actually fc anything. I seem to just get the notification. battery life is amazing. I used to have to charge my phone after only 6 hours, even with light use. Now I dont need a charger until the end of the day, even with moderate to heavy use. I even use it as my wifi at home for xbox and whatnot. Touchpal's hardware prediction is pretty cool, although I havent really noticed much key skipping without it. I'm still new at rooting, so I don't do too much with oc and such.
I get about twice the battery life using RandomROMs hawk v4 vs any of the ec05 builds. Haven't experienced any TV's yet and only one random reboot after running the v6 script.

[Q] Best ICS Port Rom?

Even tho i promised myself that i won`t flash any other ROM till an OTA ICS, but my urge to try ICS became almost unstoppable. So my question is simple, which ICS port is the best to be a DD? Please report your opinions, thank you.

I'm still on Racings's original skyrocket port. I tried Easydoesit but was unstabble for me for some reason (even after several wipes/flashes) so I restored a nandroid of Racing's and I think Im done messing with these until the official ICS update rolls out OR one of the devs fixes the naggy little problems we have right now.
I'm very happy with Racing's Rom, its definitely a suitable DD for me. If Instagram worked I'd have practically no complaints! Hope that helps

I move today to perfection just to give a shot .
But racers 1st original has best battery life and stability too.

easydoesit v2.2 was really stable for me...for most of the issues, i just wiped cache and fixed permissions and reboot and they were no longer there (the reboot/shut down bug or a couple of FCs)
i really wanted to stay on ICS because it was so smooth and the interface just looked so much nicer..."orientation control" is the app i chose for my auto-rotation work around...it puts a toggle in your notification bar and all you have to do is click on it and select portrait or landscape...this was actually better than auto rotate for me because on GB sometimes my apps would auto rotate when i didnt want them to when i barely tilt my screen
the ONLY issue and reason why i reverted back to GB is because you cant force orientation in the camera app...i got tired of rotation pics after i took them and you can't flip recorded videos so you have to record them in landscape mode
oh and for some reason i couldnt get root explorer to mount properly...it would mount but if i deleted anything it would magically reappear...but some people said they got it to work
thats as stable a ICS rom as your gonna find and the dev responds almost immediately
Ravers or easydoesit

Need help finding ROMs, choosing which to try

I am trying to flash my Inc with a new ROM for the first time, but it seems like more than half the ROMs on this page are either removed by the developer or cant be downloaded because the download links are dead.
Any tips on what to try first, based on what available still? The only thing I am concerned with is that the ROM is stable and compatible with as many of the stock functions as possible, stuff like broken radios is not what I am looking for right now. Would be kinda cool to try one as different from stock as possible. Does CM7 work well on the Inc? I keep seeing people talking about stuff that is broken with it.

Ice Cream Sandwich. Abduction by Hanger84 is smoother than the Sense ROMs.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA
Abduction is good to try if you want to experice ice cream.... but prepare for some bugs and missing features ( ie Camcorder, camera, & flash on websites and netflix) I suggest one of the gingerbread Roms or Froyo Roms. CM 7 or 8 should be fine, but you loose some of the things you may be accustomed to in Sense (Widgets). But there are pretty good apps that can do what sense does, you just have to look for them.
I'm using CM 7.2 RC1 (RC2 crashes right away for me) with latest ICS Incredikernal and SmartassV2 governor, fully over-clocked. Never crashes, everything works but, of course, 720p recording. I even found decent settings for auto-brightness (Make about 16 levels, start out at ~70, go up in ~5 point increments, then increase. Set Window Length to 5 secs). I have tried three ICS roms but always went back.
I'm using the new Go Launcher but it has a couple of bugs. Clear its data to get the large icons if you are stuck on small. To change settings on the large weather clock you have to do it via the small weather clock.
I use CyanogenMod 7.2. Along with Chad/Tiny's Incredikernel, Jermaine/Tiny's EXT4All mod, and Launcher Pro. Speedy and battery efficient. The latest RC should be fine, I'm on one of the nightlies and have been using Pons' KANGs when his computer was still working.
In addition to Sonny Sekhon's Ice Cream Sandwich CM7 Theme.
If you like the stock ROM, and want something stable and based off of it, Liberation 3.0 is a good choice. It is basically a rooted, debloated, stock ROM. I keep a copy on my SD card incase I need access to EPST or just feel like using Sense.
ICS is getting there, but the laggy animations and general speed have kept me away. It seems to me that the current hardware acceleration isn't 100% implemented. But I have never used ICS outside of the Incredible. So I don't have room to compare.
I'm with the majority here. CM 7.2 RC2 is great. I actually have stock kernel though, I am not sure if performance is better with incredikernel but I can tell you that CM7 is TONS better than stock in terms of battery life, customization, and overall android experience. I like sense but on the Inc, it's like they stopped trying...
P.S. - I also use GO Launcher EX with kovdev's ICS theme.
Well I just switched from Abduction to CM9 and so far CM9 is much better!!

Ok before I started getting replies here I dl'd Touch of Blue and Stock+, tried ToB for the week and it was ok but started to crash and lag a lot. The latter may have been due to my SetCPU settings, I dunno, but it was getting hung up on simple apps, and I did not like a couple things about it, like getting calls when the screen is off required you to unlock it, then unlock it again at the receiving call screen. Also didnt like the battery meter.
Just installed Stock+ and immediately realized it wouldn't work at all when I saw that the App Data partition was still at 150MB. Thats the whole reason I rooted, so there is no way I am using a ROM that is eventually gonna give me the Low space messages again.
GOnna try the ones you guys suggested now
I like Wildstangs stock ROM, and gtiny's kernel. I used root app delete to debloat it. And run the on demand deadline settings and can go 11 hours on a full charge with heavy use.
I also like the last stable release of CM7.1.0 it is smoking fast and way less issues then the nightlies or kangs to me.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
CM7.2 couldn't figure out how to add my Google account. Also couldnt disable the camera shutter sound.
Tried Liberation but the App Data partition is still only 150MB; as soon as I restore my apps its gonna be out of space again.
ALL ROMs for the Incredible are going to have a 150 MB data/data partition. It's the way HTC made it. The only way around it is with the EXT4All mod. More information here. The file you're looking for to remove the limit is "Convert2Ext4_no_data_limit_normal_dalvik.zip".
And there is an options in the CM7 sound settings to disable the shutter sound. Called "Mute camera shutter".
Ok I found the camera sound setting, thanks. Any advice on getting the Google account to work? The Account settings were trying to setup an email thing, not my Google account
EDIT:
Figured out that I need to flash the Google apps pack on CM7 to get that all to work, but ClockworkMod kept failing to mount the pack when I tried to install it. Now I am back on Liberation, because at least here I have my Google account with contacts, but I cannot get the EXT4 fix to work. I download it, open it with Clockwork, tell it to reboot and apply, but it fails to mount it, just like the Google apps pack problem. Using Clockwork 5.0.2.0

[WORKAROUND FOUND] Leaving CM9/AOKP & going back to stock ROM

I hate this. Because CM9 & AOKP are so freakin awesome. Great battery life
and incredible GUI options. Especially AOKP which I liked better than CM9.
But as good as they are, I'm just getting bettery performance with stock when it
comes to my only PERSONAL test. This doesn't mean stock is better overall. It
just means stock is better for the one test that I have which is pretty hard on a
phone.
I've tried CM9 as well as AOKP based on both ICS and Jelly Bean. Also tried
multiple kernels and performance settings. But no matter what I try, they all lag

I'm on aokp with stock kernel. Using chrome that website loafs perfect and smooth. With the custom kernels I was getting slow downloads page loading and bad battery. Stock kernel working fine on aokp.

Running CM10 and Chrome and that page is perfectly smooth once it finally loads. From my experience, loading 50 animated GIFs at once is murder on any connection.
Okay this is distressing.
I've tried EVERYTHING to get CM9/CM10/AOKP to work smoothly on the page I linked above. Nothing worked.
And stock works perfectly each & every time I go back to it, on the first try.
Is there ANYONE else on CM9/CM10/AOKP who gets studdering/jerky behavior with those gifs? After the page loads up, the gifs should start playing and keep playing smoothly as you scroll up & down the page. No stopping, then starting.
in aokp/chrome, the scrolling is smooth yes but the gif playback kinda lags behind until you lift your finger off the touchscreen or until the scrolling stops

Thanks, yeah it's not supposed to do that.
The gif animimation should be playing smoothly non-stop, even as you scroll up and down the webpage. All of the gifs should play smooth at all times, not just one or two.

I don't see that happening. I mean my core i7 desktop barely plays gifs sometimes. I wonder if more resources devoted to the interface in JB is making it "perform worse", in terms of viewing gifs.

Why do you like your ROM?

What rom do you have on your phone?
Why do you like it?
What dont you like about it?
Im curious to see what everyone is running
So far ive ran aokp, paranoid android, and cm10.
Im currently on cm10 and enjoy how professional it is. (explaining the swag button to potent galaxy buyers was kind of tough)
I would have kept paranoid android but the profiles didnt work and i didnt know how to use the dpi changer.
I also started this thread to see who uses android development ROMS instead of the original development ones
Im mainly interested in the non original android development roms users and their oppinions but everyone's answer is appreciated
My favorite was Codename Android, besides one major flaw that myself and very few others experienced: Impossible to send SMS longer than 160 characters, regardless of settings/reflashes/apn/etc. Just because it was the smoothest ROM for me.
I value UI smoothness above all else and have yet to find a ROM that is truly stutter free.
CM10 is ok, but if you go to clock and swipe to the side to go to timer it stutters like a pentium 2 running Crysis: Warhead.
Stock ICS ROM's lag, as well Facebook/third party app scrolling has constant stutter reminiscing of SGS1
JB Leaks (LIF, LIG, LIH) give me blackscreen reboots once in a while, although noticeably smoother than ICS.
I didn't mention battery life as quite frankly I can get a day of usage with every ROM I have tried so far which is nearly all of them.
I think I'm using stock ROM right now as I was fed up and just restored an old nandroid... I guess its ok, everything just works, lots of stutter's though. Doesn't have that premium feel you expect of a device at this price point.

I have tried multiple versions of it, still stutters on homescreen sometimes. Same Timer stutter as CM10 and annoying alarm bug (although there is a fix, it's inconvenient). As well the Nova launcher that AOKP uses, and pretty much all third party launchers have a little input lag due to non native integration or no hardware acceleration (not sure which, but the input lag is there).
Anyway I'll take my fluidity rant somewhere else, people seem happy with the current state of the phone.

The childishness of aokp turned me off since i looked at the boot logo but my gripes can all be easily fixed /hidden.
I havent noticed the speed difference but i do see tge lag you speak about but ive dismissed it as a hardware being underpowered to the rom issue and dont notice it as much anymore
So im still looking for answers from non original development users but to everyone else

Blazer Rom.
It's minimalistic, faster than stock without overclocking, great battery right out of the box, and EVERYTHING WORKS. take that jelly bean.

Because its my ROM. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
I'm currently using cm10 and I find very awesome. It's fast and has a lot of great features. I tried AOKP and decided that IMO cm10 was closer to actual 4.1, but AOKP had many more features.

I had been running AOKP for a week or so, I like its customization better than that of other ROMs.
I just yesterday found a new ROM called Paranoid KANGdroid. It pulls from CM10, AOKP, and Paranoid Android. Has pretty much all the features of all three. So much customization, I love it. Not fully stable, though, its only a few days old.
