Hello,
I have a GSM Galaxy Nexus which I just flashed to Jelly bean, via the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
Runs great, the only issue is I get "Network Error, check your network connection and try again" when accessing the new Google search bar (Google Now).
I read in that thread to try switching to the UGLC1 radio. I did this and still get an error. I've also set my Language to English (US), ensured google web search was not paused, and both checked and unchecked the "search on google.com" checkbox in settings. Anyone have any other things to try?
For the record I'm on bell in Canada.
I'm seeing the same thing except that I think the problem is larger than that. I haven't yet gotten a connection to the Google Server (wifi and signal bars are still grey instead of blue) and opening things like Talk or allow me to download apps from the store.
Running: Android 4.1

now that you mention it google talk is not connecting for me either, and the wifi and signal bars stay grey.
I can however download apps from the google play store.
Anyone have any luck with this. I can seem to still download apps and get Gmail, but it doesn't run at all in the background.
Wipe the data for Google Services Framework and then reboot your phone.

Can someone confirm this method works?
Confirmed! Didn't even have to re enter gmail address. Simple clear & reboot worked like a charm.
I resolved this over the weekend. My problem was with using TitaniumBackup and restoring via 'restore missing apps and system data'. When I reflashed, did another TB restore for only missing apps everything works fine (including greyed out wifi and signal bars)

My google market randomly stopped working today, it repeatedly says "no connection" i also noticed that the little wifi bars in the status bar are white. So i tried to reinstall googleservicesframework.apk and put vending.apk in system/app folder but no success. Any idea what i can do? Im on cm7
Sounds like you don't have a network connection. Make sure your wifi is connected - verify that you can browse the web. Market will not work if you don't have a wifi connection.

i know this is an old post and you have probably found a solution, but I thought I'd let other people worked for me...
I have the Tab 7.7 and had this problem a number of times - I tried loads of stuff mentioned on forums, but couldn't get the 'google connection' back without doing a data reset...
But when same thing happened yesterday, I noticed that time / date was incorrect (date was sometime in the year 2000!!!) - Once I fixed that, everything was OK!!
This happened to me the other day. I had tried to log in to google play, and got the "no connection, retry" message. Realized I was not connected, so I turned my wifi back on and still got the message. Refreshing did not help. I cleared my cache/cookies and tried again and then I was able to connect.
Doesn't work either.....
I have the same problem. I don't know if this is the place to post or not, but I cannot find a solution. My kindle fire has been rooted for about two months now and has never had a problem until today. My WiFi icon suddenly went grey and non of Google services work;they just say there is a network error. But,my innernet conection is working fine. Please help!!!!
I have to bump this thread to get some help with the same problem on my wife's Kindle Fire. She was given this device just yesterday by an older couple who's son had rooted it for them however he was unable to get the Google apps to work. This KF is able to browse the internet without any trouble, however I cannot connect to any Google service because it won't let me access an existing account or create a new one.
The real difference here is that I'm not the one that rooted the device and I don't know how to do any of it. I've been searching the forum looking for a thread like this hoping for help. So I don't have any of the programs on my PC to make any changes. I've looked at the threads explaining how to root, but I don't think they really apply to my situation of simply trying to make Google work.
Any help would be great
That's my problem, Google Play can not connect "try again" and sometimes it shows me two erros: 495 y 923, and YouTube can not connect. But if i use 3G connection yes, It works!
*I already read the following things and i´m still with the same problem:
- "Reboot Mobile"
- "Clear cache and data from Google Play app and Market"
- Yes.. Gtalk works form me and i can talk with others..
- "Reinstall Google Play and Youtube apps"
- The date and hour its ok
In 3G connection it works, but if i change to wifi doesnt works. I can use internet with the wifi but google play and youtube dont. I've used the wifi connection since I have this phone and suddenly i have this problem.
Any ideas?

Also installed "Signal Booster" and now its unistalled too...
Same problem here
Today, four hours ago happen you me same thing, market and YouTube stops working.
But just on wifi, I tried everything but notHing works, my phone in rooted, rom rooted but stock, any ideas?
I got the same problem but i have samsung galaxy s2 tried to use market enable to flash the ar&t service and my date was ok tried with wifi apps but nothing its imposible with wifi
Nobody?
ROM's go corrupt over time, esp custom ROM's, try a factory reset and see if you still see the same issue...do a backup though before you do factory reset.
Nothing, i did a factory reset and google play and youtube have not conection to internet.....
Hi. I just got a new Galaxy Nexus, loving it so far since it's my first Android phone, but there are a few things which are bugging me and I couldn't get an answer even after searching the web.
1. Where's the ENTER (or 'move to next line') key on the keyboard in the messaging app? it isn't there, there's a Smiley button instead of it. It appears in some other apps though.
2. I have downloaded and saved a map in Google Maps. When I try to use GPS without data or Wi-Fi, it doesn't lock on to my location. What could be the reason? With data and/or Wi-Fi turned on and connected to the internet, the GPS pinpoints to my location in seconds.
3. I've heard of some issues that arise upon updating to 4.2, I'm currently on Stock 4.1.2. Shall I update to 4.2? It seems scary though. My device is working great and I don't want any issues to arise, but this stupid "software update" keeps popping up all the time!
Sorry if these have been answered already, I couldn't find the answers... Thanks!
1. When the keyboard is shown in the messaging app. Click on the "uppercase" button on the left of the keyboard, then the Smiley button will be replaced with the "Enter" button
2. I am not very familiar with GPS issues but I am not sure that you can lock your location without GPS or WiFi, one of them should be on I guess to locate your location
3. You should update your custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) to the latest version before updating to 4.2.1 then everything should be fine. Generally, many users are reporting that 4.1.2 is more stable than 4.2.1 but personally I haven't found much of a difference and I rather having the toggles of 4.2.1

Thanks! Now I'm concerned about GPS, it SHOULD lock on without data or WIFi
Seems I misunderstood you earlier. Sorry I thought you mean you want to lock on without GPS and WiFi
Yes absolutely GPS alone should work. Did you enable the "Location Access" in the "Settings"?

For gps, try waiting 10-15 minutes. It might take a while to lock if you aren't near where you last had a lock.
If you want to test it, try installing "GPS Status" from the play store. It will show you all of the satellites that your phone can currently see, and what their lock status is.
Tried GPS Status. Nope, it stays on the 'looking for GPS satellites', but never gets a lock without internet connection. Any help?
So, I have a T-mobile GS3 which I rooted and installed AOKP Build 5 D2TMO on and suddenly today, my connectivity symbol has gone grey. It still displays 3g or h+ and full bars but its just grey and my browser (chrome) wasnt working along with maps but when I attempted the native Android web browser, it works like a charm so it seems that My cell phone is only having trouble connecting to google apps or servers, anyone ever here of this? Is there a fix?

Flash Google apps or gapps as it's called. They are on goo.im/gapps. Look for the latest with JB in the file name. December 12 I think is the date.
Flash through your recovery and you should be good.
Just in case make sure your Google account is set up in settings>accounts.
I originally flashed GAPPS but the October build since I was under the impression that since AOKP build 5 was 4.1.2 based, I couldn't flash the GAPPS 121212 since its 4.2 based. is this true? And yes, my google accounts were set up, my phone was fully functional for a week the nsuddenly no google. I've narrowed it down to not connecting to Play Store or google services, chrome works, texting works, phone calls work.
Ya it's just that you're not connected Google services for some reason, try signing into gtalk.

TeamWin Recovery 2 and I'm getting my ROMS from the official Sites (AOKP, CM)
hey are working perfectly for a while then just die or something and throw the system clock off(time, not processor)
EDIT: just looked and what seemed actually happened to my system clock is that it reset to the year 1970 while crippling my mobile DATA at the same time
go to the threads located on this forum and grab those downloads better yet. What are you running Kasper's AOKP 4.2 or 4.1.2? and what is TeamWin Recovery 2? I don't understand the "2"... Link the downloads so I know what you are talking about. My guess is you are flashing the wrong gapps and have an old recovery. The 1970 date thing is just some weird phenomenon that our phones have. The latest and greatest recoveries cause all the weird dates on there too.
[Q] Very unusual WiFi problem. I can not "search" or "sign in" to Google Services
As titles states; This is not rom related, though it first happened while flashing a nightly build of CM. On the screen to sign in to my Google account, it was hanging. I let it go for about 5 minutes then disabled WiFi and retried with success. I thought it was a isolated issue so I didn't think much of it. I then turned WiFi back on and continued to setup the rom. When I got to the stage of downloading an app from Play Store I continued to getting "Connection timed out" - This went on for several attempts until I disabled WiFi.
The last problem I have is when I search in Google it fails to load any results unless I disable WiFi. What is even stranger is I can use WiFi ONLY when I type in a complete URL in the address bar "www.xda.com" for example. It is almost as if WiFi is failing to communicate with Google Services? - I have flashed a few other modem packages and completely formatted internal SD and sideloaded another roms to no success. I am about to go back to stock firm to see if it resolves it but thought I would ask here just in case someone has had a similar issue
