Samsung sending me refurb phones? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I bought my gnex a few weeks ago and since have gotten 3 replacements and none have had good screens. Are they just sending me refurbished phones PR what? Because they are all coming from Texas as opposed to Kentucky when I ordered from play

No some have been worse than others with purple and one had super fading from one side to the other. I have a very sharp eye for these things

The nexus display just isn't that good. It has a lot of color issues, for example anandtech did point those out in their review. The GN is a great phone, but in no way perfect.

IMA be on my 4th nexus its coming tomorrow. The purple tint makes the phone look horrible very pixelated. My 1st nexus was good but had data problems
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Well would be better and less frustrating to just flash a custom kernel and fix the colors at your likes? Lol and you are sure your phone its new
Why you even bother to come xda DEVELOPERS if you won't dare to do some mods here and there..
My screen was yellowish and now it's perfect with francos kernel color calibration
None of us can help you with Samsung replace policy but we can help you get your phone works properly

My phone had data problems and it took me 7 replacements to finally get one that didn't have data problems and also has a perfect screen. Not a hint of purple on the screen.

I think the people complaining about issues with their Nexus have "user error" issues themselves. These phones pass Quality Control for a reason. They don't magically "go bad" in transit to the stores or warehouses. There are no moving parts in them to wear out.

Are you freaking serious? So everything Samsung lets out of the factory is OK and everybody should be happy with the product they ship? Apple people and their fanboyism is starting to seem almost healthy compared to this. The phone costs a premium (at least in here) and I'd like to see premium production quality for my money. Unfortunately that is not the case. Samsung did address the issues in the GIII, but that doesn't fix it for the GN
"The problems that I talked about in the Galaxy Nexus display are basically completely absent in the SGS3. There’s no longer any mura (luminance variance which looks like noise) or a weird purple cast in the greys, two things that are still present on the Galaxy Nexus." (Source)

You need to move to earth and teach them over here. Here, because of greed and misjudgement, even companies make many mistakes in their favor.
Last night, I thought someone was stealing my stuff, until I realized that he couldn't have. The stuff must have been his from the beginning. I must have paid for stuff throughout the years that was actually his

Well cmon dude people are complaining about screen issues on refurb phones. The fact is, is that the nature of this amoled screen is that it loses its ability to display color over time. In some areas its more prominent because of the nav bar and keyboard being dark/black. Over time though this effect should even out across the screen. So, to the people *****ing about wanting a brand new one, guess what?? You're brand new one will look just like that refurb one!

no it's not, it's called turn your brightness up a notch.

I went through 5 referb phones from Verizon before they had Samsung send me one. This phone was perfect and says that it is new in the data not refurbished... don't know if it was a Verizon issue or Samsung, but eventually I got a good replacement.

Now if they just weren't so damn slow in updating this phone with ICS. Or at least releasing some drivers and such so devs could get it done.
I swore I would never own another Samsung after the vibrant due to how slow Samsung was on dropping source and such...I got sucked in one again and sit in the same position again as the vibrant lol.
Frustrating for such an amazing phone to once again be limited by Samsung.

If I all my stuff was tied to the apple ecosystem it would be hard for me to change. plus the iphone 4s is not really outdated just boring UI and unable to open up a little bit more other than that their not missing anything but 1 or 2 things.

We can't just sell the phone off, because it's defective and that would be considering scamming. I would love to get a refund or exchange but we are unable to do so even within warranty, as this problem "does not exist."
I said in another topic that my complaints are directed the both Samsung for making this ****ty phone and ignoring the obvious problem, and to the phone companies for ignoring the problem not allowing refunds or exchanges.

It's really not a "defect", per se, it's just what these screens do. If you get a replacement, it's going to have the same problem eventually as well. Just kinda have to accept it for these types of displays.

exactly, it's not like verizons going to bring anything groundbreaking out with the official 4.2.1 release, so really, who cares? i feel bad for the people who aren't into messing with their gnexs being stuck on 4.1.1 because verizons being a bunch of douches. as far as i'm concerned, i'm keeping this phone till it dies, and i might even buy another gnex after this one, as long as development is still rolling with it.
About two weeks ago I got mine replaced by verizon due to my phone having charging issues. I went into the store, didn't call before hand.
I had flashed back to stock before i went in. Told the girl there that it wasnt charging right and i have multiple batteries and they all do the same. she went to look up on some database if others were reporting similar issues (there were none). after giving her my phone number and 5 minutes later she said a replacement is on the way and to mail my old one back in the same box (shipping was paid for)
I was very pleased by how quick and painless it all was. She never touched or looked at my phone at all and asked hardly any questions. my phone also had a chip in the screen (about 2 cm at the bottom right, no cracks though)
the replacement phone had a sticker saying "like new" replacement but it was absolutely pristine. absolutely 100% perfect cosmetically and works great as ever (screen colors seemed better than my original one imo).
As with my luck with CNL devices, I've had nothing but problems with them from Verizon,GNex included. Hope you got a good one.

I'm still on the fence.
Assuming the Note 3 will have Sprint's Triband LTE on it, it's definitely on my radar along with the LG G2.
With the LG G2 having a 5.2 inch screen, it's more enticing to me than a humongous 5.7 inch screen of the Note 3.
Also, with TouchWiz on the Note 3, I'm leaning towards the G2.
However, the Note 3 is also more likely to get official CM support, just based on the Note 2's official status and the LG Optimus G not being official.
With official CM support, we get better AOSP kernels, so AOKP, SlimROMs, PA, and PAC-Man roms will be better.
My upgrade is in December, though. It gives me some time to think about it and hopefully see some reviews and other user impressions before choosing one over the other. And hopefully CM will announce official support for the G2, then it makes my life easier.

I was considering it. That creamy pink looks kind of neat lol. Nah I'll probably get a black one. Unless they've figured out how to not let the light bleed on the white version.
I may get a pink flip cover though. Awwww yeaaa!

Well I mean, there's SVLTE now...but Sprint is nowhere near being able to force their customers to all rely on good LTE coverage
But I doubt that the N3 will have SVDO, probably get bumped up to SVLTE
I'm tempted. Still debating whether to get a Note 3 or wait for the S5. I told myself that I'd never get a phone that big but everyone I know who has a Note 2 loves it.

Definitely not me. Lol. I like my phone 5" and under..4.8 is nice, though I could hold a note easily.
Also having my nexus, I do like the nav buttons better akin to a nexus device. I know you can on custom ROMs, but nav and hardware buttons are just silly to me.
