I upgraded to the Galaxy Nexus a little while ago and am officially decommissioning my Droid Incredible 2 (but I'll still keep it as a backup just in case). I won't have time to root it until this weekend, but once I do, I look forward to sharing my ROM flashing adventures with you guys. And with the sheer number of ROMs available for this device, it looks like I'll be in flashaholic heaven.

I noticed that when I first got the phone and was running a stock rom. Doesn't seem to be an issue when custom roms.
Also, if you haven't unlocked your bootloader yet, remember to back up the important stuff because it will wipe everything.

I cane from an s2 and I feel the s3 is a much better phone, if you have extra money def worth it
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
I miss my Amaze. That being said... it is taking some time for me to have the S3 feel like an extension of myself. The way my Amaze did. I honestly don't miss this phone when I leave it at home or in the car. Plus the whole issue with not being able to move apps to the external sd (grrrr)!
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Yeah, the question wasn't if it's cooler, it was if it's worth it.
I mean, don't be blind, you add so and so money and you get less than so and so value. That was my intention. To tell the truth.
It is cooler, but it's more breakable, my phone has similar features, bla bla bla.
Don't get all "Appley" on me but with Samsung, it's also wrong to be blinded by one company... Even if it's not Apple...
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
Absolutely I think its worth it! I was skeptical because I loved my old htc, but I am so glad I moved up to the GS3.
If it were me looking for a new device, I would check out the Note 2 before making a decision. I think itll be out soon.

YES! Im coming from an S2 that was running Jedi Mind tricks rom, and i loved it, but my S3 was pretty much perfect out the box. havent had a problem yet which is why im not in any rush to root and throw a rom on it yet.
Can't go wrong with this phone!
Apsolutely worth it. The S3 is the best smarty phone I've ever had! I just paid $177. to have my screen repaired after I dropped and cracked it. I love this device. Love it.
Did I mention how much I love it?
Well I came from the Gnex and I really like this phone. Touchwiz wasn't too bad but I needed that AOSP back. After flashing Paranoid Android I'm loving this phone a little more than my Gnex. It was with the switch to me. Don't get me wrong though, having the nexus was awesome!

+1. Got the S3 and slapped ParanoidAndroid on it with faux's Ultimate kernel. Hybrid mode on the size of this screen is wonderful. With the dual core S4, and PA with faux's kernel, I can't think of a better phone to have right now.

I would rather have a user post a stupid question and learn how to do something the correctly than to have them be worried and screw up... Everyone's gotta start somewhere - none of us just magically knew how to do all of this.
Anyways, enjoy your new phone! When I got mine, the very first thing I did was unlock, flash TWRP and install AOKP. ^_^ Coming from a locked Droid X2, this is like heaven to me.

Congrats for the phone. I myself jumped to the wagon of galaxy S2 a year later when s3 was just around the corner. I didn't regret a bit. Same now with galaxy nexus.. Not regretting it a bit.. Got it a fortnight ago. The ready baked development and mature kernels trump it all. Enjoy your phone

Just to know you are not alone, I got my GNex yesterday. Upgraded from my Epic. I didn't want to leave Sprint, so no N4 for me. Decided to save my upgrade for next year and buy a used Gnex off eBay. Infinitely better than my Epic and probably good enough to last me another year.
Jason
I'd prefer this phone over the n4 personally..
ignore all the hate! welcome to the forums
While I would have waited for the N4, don't worry because the Gnex kicks serious ass anyway. A lot of Gnex owners including myself aren't upgrading because the Gnex is a beast!
I'm planning to do the same. Do you think the price will go down when the N4 is released? Really low on money but I just can't take this X2 still on Gingerbread.
Sent from my MB870 using xda app-developers app
Again, you are not alone. I also jumped on this ship. Snatched a Gnex on Ebay for US$232.00 shipped. Great deal. In my case, right now i can't afford the Nexus 4 because spending US$300.00 is out of my reach. Simple as that. And even if i could spend USD$300.00, i would still consider the Gnex over the Nexus 4 because of the storage. 8Gb is waaay to low. 16gb is already low, but i think i can make it with it, but 8gb is out of the question. Not to mention that Play Store doesn't sell devices on my country, but i still wanted a Nexus device for the updates and the optimized software, so this was my only option. Im coming from a AT&T SG2. Great device but not a Nexus.

You should've waited a week. You're getting an old and much less powerful model for the same price. If you can, I would try to return it ASAP!
Hey guys.
Recently my beloved nexus' radios decided to quit working. I've tried everything to get them back but the harsh reality is that they just don't work anymore. I made a thread in the Q&A section to no avail.
Decided to go with the GS4 so I have an unused somewhat defective, and clearly used phone that is just sitting on my desk. When I went from my incredible to the gnex, I gave my incredible to one of the awesome devs that made that phone so much better. I'm thinking of doing it again because you guys are so great.
So if you are a dev, contact me and I'll so my best to give it to someone who can truly use it. Whether it be for parts or as a test flashing device, etc.
I can ship the phone free of charge through amazon since I work there so there really is no hassle involved.
Just to be clear, the radios (as far as I can tell) don't work, the charging port is a bit loose and sometimes hard to charge, and there are a few scratches on the screen and around the bezel. Other than that everything works. So perfect for a test device for your future roms.
I really want someone to USE the device and not just turn around and sell it, although I would be none the wiser. So let me know if you NEED it.
Thank you to this community (most of you ) and to all the hard working developers that got me thru the last few years. It's been fun.

I also have an extended battery that I can give to someone as well.
And this is a Verizon model, if that matters.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
Well I have one already.
Although, it's the sprint variant.
You see, I don't make that much money, and I got this for christmas, sure it's great, but since it's limited to CDMA, I cannot be flexible with it at all.
It really does suck, I've been wanting to sell it and replace it with a GSM Galaxy Nexus, but no one will buy it, everyone already moved on to wanting the galaxy S4 or something similar.
So I definitely don't NEED it, but it would save me some money with me being able to change to Straight talk.
About the broken radios, I can try and repair it, buy a new charging port, buy a new antenna, etc etc, it'd be a fun project. I've already started some development for myself for the toroplus, and the GSM Galaxy nexus would allow me to fully mess with a semi working Ubuntu Touch OS.
And, if it wasn't given to me, which it probably won't, I actually have a cheap 12 dollar otterbox like case for the GSM Galaxy Nexus, I messed up on the order and got that instead of one for my model.

Friend of mine really wants to start developing for phones. And I told him a nexus phone would be the best. But he doesn't really have the money to buy one and neither do I. Like I said, I don't want to give this to someone just to have them sell it so the only insurance I have is making sure you are already a developer of some sort.
