No luck mate done that many times.. If I hold the UP Volume button.. the phone vibrates for 3-4 times and the orange LED flashes... No luck with DOWN Volume button with power Just phone switches off..

Hold volume down button and while holding it down then press the power button. Phone must be off for that to work.
Edit: Grant barker, you deserve a thanks just for taking your time to write all of that
Sent from a dream.

I agree with ben hogin and Teichopsia.
1. Make sure the battery is charged enough.
2. Take the battery out and put it back in. This resets something. (Make sure the battery cover is secure too.)
3. Hold down the volume down key and then press the power key (while still holding down the volume down key).
4. (I usually do this with the phone usb disconnected. Not sure if it makes a difference.)
I'd also take out the SD Card just to eliminate some contact issue or something with that. When I'm desperate I try anything..

I did all those and I just went to the mobile store where I always buy phones ( kinda close ) so he said he has to do this ztag..

It´s jtag...anyway, to be bricked means that u can´t even turn the phone on. The question is how did u get to that state? have u installed anything or was just stock?
If you tried flashing something then the file could have been corrupted or maybe was not for your phone. That won´t brick your phone unless u flash a bootloader (included in RUU's) that is not for your device.
If you were stock, then the most common issue is a messed volume rocker, but could be something else related to hardware. :good:

My bets on volume rocker problems.

it happend to me as well try to use RUU its the only way.

i am new to the Android world. I followed some instructions and tried flashing my rom with RUU setup while the flash was in progress my little couzin mistakenly pulled out the USB cable, the device frooze, then i pulled out the battery. Since the my DHD has been totally dead. No sign of life atall. plug the power cable nothing seem to come on. I need help
Unless you have custom recovery & HBOOT it's not looking good.
With the phone turned off (pull battery out if you have too) press and hold the vol- then press power button. Hold for a few seconds. Does anything happen?
If nothing do you get the LED to blink?

then it is simple then. you can visit your nearest HTC Service Centre and get a replacement. your phone should be still under warrant.

Afraid arzme is right. Just don't tell them the cable was pulled out. If you purchased from a store take it to them, you may even get a replacement.

You might just try a story like: I just wanted to switch my SIM card and the phone turned off. Now it doesn't turn on any more.
Just don't mention anything about rooting/flashing/S-OFF and try to appear like a total noob and you will be fine.

One V Dead!

Today morning while sending an SMS, my phone got hanged and auto-restarted.
It got hung on the boot screen.
Then when i tried to restart it again, it stopped responding.
Now I only get 6-7 vibrations when I try to start the phone and then nothing happens. Hard reset is not working either.
I had not rooted the phone.
Can anyone tell me what to do?
i know this may sound REALLY stupid and as i dont have my ONE V yet is just a stab in the dark....does it need charging at all??? or will it boot with the charger connected for about 15-20mins?
I tried that as well...
My battery was almost full before the phone died.
I put it on charging for almost and hour to see if it makes any difference. But it still wont start...
sounds like a service centre job
can u get into bootloader mode? if yes its just a soft brick u can solve it easily just flash any of the custom roms. or stock ruu
and your phone will be fine
did u rooted it?
and bfre this happened what did you do? tried changing fonts?

If, as you say, you didn't root it, then the software is probably not screwed up. Could very well be the hardware, in which case you'll have to have it repaired or replaced.
You've probably done this, but try holding the power button down for a really long time, until the buttons flash about 10 times. Then try different combinations of holding the power button plus holding the volume-down key to try getting into recovery.

he has not rooted his phone - no recovery, only bootloader.
he didn't said that he arrives at htc one logo. He cannot START his phone at all!
read again and read it good before posting stuff..
as per the problem, dude, if you put it to charge, you see the yellow led? it is turning on? if it does, then you still have hope. leave it recharged for 15-20 minutes and as you recharge it, press and hold volume button DOWN and power button, if this process goes ok you will see a white background with some text in it and a menu. this is called bootloader. if you can arrive here, you don't need to go to warranty with the device.

I tried charging it for half an hour, the led does not blink.
I am not able to enter recovery mode either. Tried pressing Volume down + Power and all possible combinations of volume and power button.
I dont know why I am not able to enter the bootloader.
I contacted HTC and they said I should give it to the service centre. Hoping that they repair it since its under warranty...
Try holding down volume and pressing power for more than 10 seconds. If it still doesn't boot into hboot you will have to take it to a service center.
Since you haven't flashed anything on to it or modified it, I'd say it's a hardware problem. Send it back for replacement.

[WARNING]Bricking One V is very Easy..WORKING FIX BY GLOBATRON ADDED :D

SCENARIO 1: MOST DANGEROUS!! NOW FIXABLE
All One Series phoneshaving been facing this problem of QHSUSB_DLOAD where the phone is completely bricked and rendered unusable. It has been reported by many people that pressing Volume Up + Power instead of Volume Down + Power can be a deadly mistake...You have to send the phone to HTC and they will repair it but instead you could avoid this brick by being a tad bit careful and not pressing the Volume Up instead of Down...
This is just one case but it may also happen in other cases but this is easily avoidable unlike others which just happen out of the blue...This is one precaution which can help you.
SCENARIO 2: POTENTIAL BRICK!
Also if battery is extremely either switch it off or wait for it to switch off...Do Not REBOOT YOUR PHONE...That might just cause this above error as well....
SCENARIO 3: TOOOO LONG!
Do not hold your Vol Down +Power Down for toooo long like 10+seconds or it might cause a brick. IF it doesnt go to bootloader or if you are scared use this fastboot command: adb reboot bootloader or try the button combination again..
SCENARIO 4: STAY AWAY FROM ROM MANAGER
Please stick to the safe way of flashing by accessing recovery manually and refrain from the use of Rom Manager..It uses fakeflash which is potentially dangerous for most phones...
SCENARIO 5: THE UNPRECEDENTED ONE!
The above scenario just happens..It might have no proper explanation like it happened to someone while he was talking on the phone...etc
Fix for QHUSB-DLOAD issue

Pretty ridiculous that a simple key combination can brick a phone. Hopefully HTC fixes this ASAP.

Not that I doubt any of the info given here, earlier I did try vol+ and pwr a few times and get into some kind of download mode, so I rebooted and nothing changed. So maybe it is something in addition to getting into that mode.
Can this maybe be used to get s-off? Download mode sounds like something that might be able to write to hboot

dude this happened to me two times when you will hold power and vol down at the same time for 10-20 seconds phone will be dead...i know that power and vol down makes phone go into BL but if you press both at the same time for a while that leads your phone to dead(In my case two times)....

Yup, I can confirm. This is what happened to me. I didn't press Vol Up, just Down + Power and I think I held it for too long, then I got the dreaded UHUSB_DLOAD error.
It's at HTC right now, so hopefully get it back soon.
So you can press volume up + power at any time and it'll just brick your phone? Do you have to hold it? Seriously... I can't believe a phone gets released in this state. I will never buy another HTC phone again.
The *intended* function of Vol Up + Power is actually for accessing stock recovery after you choose it in bootloader :O Have no idea why it'll be linked to bricking.

HTC Wildfire blank screen

Hi,
I'm sorry if this has already been answered I just can't find it.
My Wildfire's screen froze a couple of times, then the last time I removed the battery and reinserted it.
When I tried to power back up I got the vibrate but nothing on the screen, so I repeated a couple of times with no luck.
I then tried the Hboot method (Hold vol - and power) and I got the Hboot on, but when I tried to navigate using the volume buttons nothing happened, so removed battery and tried to repeat, I couldn't get back to Hboot. I have only been able to get the Hboot screen that one time.
When I power up, I get 1 vibrate and nothing on screen.
When I hold volume + and power button, I get three vibrates and the green light comes on.
When I hold volume - and power I don't get any vibrates, unless I remove the volume - then the power button but still only one vibrate.
I've tried installing the CyanogenMod but no luck.
Is there anything that can be done to save my Wildfire?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Seems like you're in Qualcomm Diagnostic mode. Though I don't remember the solution, some Googling might help

--- EDIT ---
So you wrote your question again in the "Wildfire S" (Marvel) Forums - in this case the much more important question would be: what phone are you talking about? A Wildfire (Buzz) or a "Wildfire S" (Marvel). Despite the name those have almost nothing in common - they are totally different devices
--- EDIT ---
I'll answer in this thread although you opened another one in Q&A.
You haven't been too specific with your problem but sometimes it helps to have all the details
So here we go:
a) did the phone work correct (besides the freezes) before you took out the battery?
b) is your WF rooted & s-off?
c) which ROM?
d)
When I hold volume + and power button, I get three vibrates and the green light comes on

OK, sorry for the lack of info!
My phone is a Wildfire, not a WildfireS.
A: Yes, was working.
B: No, never needed to.
C: Not sure, never kept a record of it. It's one of the first models though if that helps.
D: This happens without USB cord attached. When the USB cord is attached I pull the battery and the green light stays on.
E: Yes, I've tried this for over 10secs before.
F: Yes, after blank screen. I installed on SD card and followed the directions. Bare in mind, I cant set Debug or the charge only setting.
Thanks!

That's what I thought. In this case you won't be able to flash any other ROM - you could just do the usual upgrades by HTC
This doesn't sound to me to be a minor problem (but probably someone else might correct me here) - nevertheless - just to make sure: have you tried to do a hard factory reset following the HTC user guide?
- With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button (instead of holding it)
if this boots your phone up:
- Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button.
- Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER.
- Press VOLUME UP to start the factory reset
(errm and yes: this will delete all your user data, of course...)
Click to collapse
But I assume you have done that anyway - did you try to connect your phone to the PC (HTC drivers installed, of course)?
How about charging - does the phone seem to behave normal - i.e. if you keep it from charging for a few hrs does it show the red LED for charging mode and the green one for being fully charged?
That's pretty much all I could suggest from scratch. - Hopefully someone else with a good idea will step in here :fingers-crossed:
OK, still have the Wildfire with the annoying blank screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix?
Thanks!

besides the suggestion of the Qualcomm diagnostic mode (no I don't know anything about that): did you try to power up without the sdcard, yet?
Furthermore I slightly remember that you could do a factory reset using a key combination - but I'm not sure about it.
Same goes for a RUU. Are you able to connect to the phone with the PC?
Really just random guessing - hard if no error messages appear...
Yes, tried with the SD card.
Because I can't see the screen I tried it loads of times, all with different combinations.
I can't get any vibrate from volume down + long hold power.
I will only get a vibrate from volume down + short hold power.
What would be ideal if there's a way to use ODIN PC to flash a new ROM, well that's what I think it is, faulty ROM?
Thanks!

really hard to say as there's not a little information what's going on. What if just the screen is dead? have you tried to wait after boot and insert your pin after a while (I mean try to guess where the numbers might be) and call your number?

Hey there!
I'm bumping this because I have the same problem and creating a new thread seemed more bad to me.
Anyway, I'll start from the beginning.
I found out my battery was swollen 5 days ago. It's probably because of my charging habits. My battery life have shortened everyday this 5 days. Yesterday morning I wiped my battery stats to get a better battery life. When I was back home my phone's battery has depleted while I was listening to music.
I came to home, plugged my phone to charge and waited 15 mins to get it charged a bit to open. When I tried to open it, it vibrated but the "green htc text on white background" screen didn't come up. The screen wasn't working. I tried what is said before in this tried. Once I got managed to see the bootloader but the volume keys weren't working (as above) After some moments of rage, my brother offered to test the touch, I opened the phone, (as I dont have a PIN) we waited for some minutes and then he called me. I mimiced the answering gestured and boom, I could talk with my brother.
I bought a new screen as I think screen is broken. But it could be because mainboards screen part is damaged (probably because of my faulty battery, voltage wavings etc.) or something completely different.
Please guys help me. I can't buy a new phone atm so I have to fix this

Ouch sounds like a rough one :/ OK so you have no visual, but do have touch and audio? Are you s-off or s-on? You could try to "blind feed" the rom.zip of a ruu to the bootloader to try restore it. But it may well be that your battery has killed the screen. Have you ordered a new battery?
