On screen buttons - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hey guys or girls.. I got a question, I love the on screen buttons, I would always use them while I was on AOKP B40
, but I wanted to go back to GB, just had some gaming apps that wouldn't play properly on ICS so my question is..is there any way I could get them on GB? Any input is appreciated

This is something Gingerbread does not support. There are alternatives though.

maybe more, but as far as I know nothing like ICS buttons on GB.

Well I know that GB doesn't have that feature...but would it be possible as mod? So it would be exactly.like the one AOKP has?

Why TW based ROM's?

Hi, first of all thanx to all the DEV's that make all the beautiful rom's. I'm just curious why can't the dev's make rom's from CM7 build we have? They can make it better with their flavor.
No disrespect to any of the Dev's. Just wanted to know. I hate TW its killing the phones.

Actually there is a majority of people who like TW (I am not one), and its simple enough to throw away if u dont, so to say its killing out phone is a lil bit rediculous, also from my understanding (haven't used CM Builds l8ly) they change alot rom and kernel side to make it completely incompatible with AOSP/Stock FW, it would be alot of work to say the least, 2 CM7 IS ported I do believe, but still with bugs (ofc).
3 IF u want stock as possible u CAN download launcher2 or launchers developed from it.
4. There is very little pros that outweigh the cons (for me at least) to scrap what I've done and work from a new source, just to rebuild somebody elses and not really ever have it 100% the way u want, all devs code differently
And even though in my case I do like lookin through other devs work jus to see what they did, and maybe see my own swing on it or c if how they did something, but whether or not, the same thing remains, no matter the code, there's multiple ways to do it (usually) and something u do to somebody elses can usually have side effects xD from not knowing how they went about it that's simply probably y u see these roms geared from OTA sources and such is its way to.much effort to simply take a huge project like CM on and expect to get anywhere fast.
Not to say these devs ain't capable, just saying, u would need more then a few devs working on a base..
Thanx for the reply
TW is system wide, so changing the launcher it doesn't make it go away. And I know we have 2 rom's. I was saying why the dev's can't make the cm7 that we have better with their touch.

I never once said just changing the launcher makes it go away...
Its in the framework, ui, everywhere incl widgets that stock can only b used with TW..
But yet again, it is simple enough to get it out for the most part.
And the answer to ur question then is simple, didn't have needed resourses/sources for CM to add it directly, and devs here Probably have similar issues..

i dunno how is working perfectly for you cm7 for our phones has a bunch of bugs for once you gotta leave gps on all the time..... anything that the phone needs to do landscape basically makes the app foreclose..... bunch of games that make the phone be in landscape is either really buggy or fs instantly..... Doesn't let you record in 1080p video also..... im sorry but you are cutting a bunch of features that the phone brings just to say you on cm7 not 2 smart in my opinion

Only gut golauncher as home tho... can't w8 for ICS (well, I can, not lookin forward to reworkin all this crap xD).. so usin tablet GUI looks so sick xD wonder y they choose ugly ass colors for stock.. h8ed the green n not big on new blue either..

I'm guessing since people are working on ICS and CM9, nobody wants to waste time on CM7. It would be nice to have a fully functional CM7 ROM though.

Can't wait for AOSP or CM9 loving it on my kindle fire
IMO ICS blows gingerbread away on speed...what r u talking about??
I've been lucky enough not to have the echo issues...i'm excited to see it developed more! My DD!
ICS was faster, but the tunnel-echo and lack of autorotate brought me back. That and I hate TouchWiz.
Dude jo problems at all here i get 20mbs n no echo...only rotation is bad but i can live without it...delete everything n i mean evwrything from the cell n try again or u can unroot your cell and root back with zedomax on youtube
, he says that hes new way to root doesnt affect speed....give a try ur fuk anyways withouts ICS

Yeah I had to come back to GB. The ICS ROMS aren't stable yet and the echo is a deal breaker, I use my phone and don't text everyone so I actually need it to work properly. If not then I would go with it. And battery is still not. Up to par with GB wince there is no proper kernel. Soon enough though.

Yeah I want back to gingerbread, for me the soft keys are a bit sticky, by that I mean that when I press them there's a bit of a delay to actually respond. They aren't as a fluid for me as gingerbread. I do love a lot of the features on ics but it doesn't cinvjb e me into sticking with it. The auto rotation may not seem like much bit it gets very a nothing at times

I'm in no way a photographer or anything like that. But I definitely have to agree with you on this. I'm on CM9 and the pics doesn't seem to be as crisp as the pics on the GB roms.
You are correct, though there is someone out there bound to argue the oppisite. I myself have been through many differnt ICS (of all builds) and GB ROMs...
and can attest that this is the very reason that I am currently back on GB, running flawlessly, the incompatable apps, the camera not functioning as crisp, and notifications bugs finally did me in. My battery life is so much better with [EL29 base] anyways.

Are you guys talking about AOSP ICS? Never ran ICS on this phone yet but I noticed it with the galaxy s. I was never thought much of it because I saw it as a port from the nexus side. So software is not optimized for the hardware. Plus our ICS AOSP ports came from a galaxy nexus that has only 5 megapixel. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's just how I saw it.

To me, it was more... informative I guess? Like when I got a Message, instead of saying "New message from Bob the builder", it would say "Bob the builder: Hey theking, want to build something today?".
Or in Gmail, it'd show me who it was from, and then about 3-5 lines of text about the email. I loved the new look of it entirely, miss that on my HOX but not too much.
It was conditional basically, all the notifications wouldn't be the same size/display the same about of info as on ICS and earlier versions of Android.
Why don't u just make a back up of all three.
And then back up ur apps every time u feel like switching.
Yeah I actually have backups of aokp and jb and literally have switched 6 times today. It looks like gonna be jb for a while though.

Sorry to say this but I'm running my super nova rom and haven't had any problems what so ever. Nothing looked what you're describing at all. Any chance the phone is having a hardware factory issue since so many others have experienced the same thing?
No its definitely an ICS issue on certain devices. As it doesn't happen on Gingerbread roms based at all. Ive noticed certain users complain about the issue, maybe its different hardware models? Who said anything about insurance? I'm very good friends with the store manager. He always performs a device exchange as long as it hasnt had water damage. And no, I'm pretty sure the issues I'm having are real as pressing the power button and having the unlock screen process done but captive buttons not work for 5 seconds or more, isn't a bad flash. Even on shubs one click to FF18.
Btw check list done.... settings are always left stock. Phone seems okay unless I can surgicly open it to check on internals lol... ! Yes I'm okay myself.other than my messed up fist from a drunk fist fight.
I've had the same issue with most ICS E4GT roms, and doubt it is anything user related. Don't pay attention to the trolls. I've fully wiped my phone and it made no difference. Hopefully someone can figure it out. It's pretty annoying having to turn the screen on a off twice to get the capacitive buttons working.

You think they'll push an update to the phone to fix the issue?

I've had the same issue with most ICS E4GT roms, and doubt it is anything user related. Don't pay attention to the trolls. I've fully wiped my phone and it made no difference. Hopefully someone can figure it out. It's pretty annoying having to turn the screen on a off twice to get the capacitive buttons working.

Thank you, glad I'm not the only one who has this issue. The screen on and off is so far the only solution to this so far...

You can if you use the latest agat kernel built from source but remember not all developers have built in the new safe kernel! So you would always have to odin the kernel if it isnt baked with the ROM.
For reference, here is the link to source built kernel.

Ok heres my input. I believe that its a combination of software and hardware. Remember response time of soft buttons depends on how stable the rom is and also whats running at the time they where pressed. Ok say like you have a few apps it the background running and you turn off your screen. Once the screen come on the buttons may take a second to come on because the screen has more of a priorty than the soft button. Its all in how you look at it. And with apps running it slows that process down greatly because a combination of the proccesor and ram being used. Remember not notice but our soft buttons have a back light and they are press sensitive. So with them working together plus all the other stuff i explained timing would be off. But think about it. Lol is it really a depressing ordeal lol. I actually witness it and continue on without even thinking about it. Sorry for rambling lol
