Is there any way to get the mobile ics interface on the fire instead of the tablet ui ? Kinda like the nexus 7? Since the device is so small, I think it would benefit many users if we also had a rom that gave the nexus style ui.

Glazed Mods has a Phone UI mod.
is the mod implemented into the downloaded zip? I cannot find a separate mod file in the thread. Also, are there any screenshots of the glazed phone ui anywhere?\
edit: i read op again and it seems that it is implemented into rom.

If you don't want to switch roms he also has a downloadable app. Its called Glazed Mods. Look for it in the development section.

Erm... Not really what I'm looking for. What I'm asking is is there a way to get navigation buttons big at the bottom like the galaxy nexus and nexus 7? As well as have mobile version of apex/trebuchet?

That's part of Jellybean. You will have to wait till we get a jellybean Rom.

I'm gonna have a look into this. Will try using the official CM9 as a test base
EDIT: Just had a better look. Its a bit beyond me :S
I'd suggest getting a dev to look into it

Heres a complete Xperia NEO/NEO V port
How easy would this be to port?
Its the best ROM ever! You can have the entire tablet mode UI or entire phone UI or a bit of this a bit of that. You can make an app run in tab mode if it supports that, for example, chrome, I use it in tablet mode and its awesome. Per app density is another feature. You can control what density should the app run in.. its just plain amazing!

Depends on which native toggles the stock ones are mainly shortcuts. But the rooted modified version one is quite nice! especially the one that was merged with CM as of yesterday
I agree,
That is the only thing I miss from TouchWiz
Could someone give the best looking ones ?

Regular AOSP style is best looking.
Does anyone truly like it? I find the extra page for toggles to be an annoyance to get to, and requires extra time. It just looks nice. The lock-screen also defeats all purpose of having a lock screen, and removes useful shortcuts (I know these can be added in through some cm or aokp builds but still). I didn't think it was possible for a new android version to really take a step back in terms of functionality but 4.2 really did. Scrolling isn't nearly as good as it was in 4.1 as well. But this is all my opinion, I'm interested to hear what you guys think. I'm looking to drop back to 4.1, and I'm hoping key lime pie gets rid of lock-screen widgets

Yes I like it. And a few milliseconds don't hurt. I don't think android took steps back, it took 3+ steps ahead.

I like it.. Looks pretty good.
Although, I do agree somewhat with the lockscreen. When I had messages as one of the pages on the lockscreen, I wish I could just text them from there. But instead, you press it and it goes to the messaging app instead.
Agreed. With lockscreen and toggles. If I remember correctly though, pure AOSP that ships on nexus devices prior to 4.2 didn't have toggles. That's a luxury that was only afforded to root users. So really it was a step forward.
In my opinion though, they should have implemented CM's toggles and called it good.

I love it, So much smoother at least when it comes to cm10 vs cm10.1 depends on the ROM you are using, Baked Black Bean its amazing and there are quite a few new 4.2 ROMs out in the last couple weeks
I dunno, I'm using the first aokp build that came out and its stuttering like crazy, especially the xda app

I love 4.2 on my phone, i just flashed it but my only concern is battery life and how that will ruin my fresh clean battery.
Also i dislike the lockscreen options and wished you could turn those off!

Root box is the only 4.2 ROM that I think has good battery life ! After flashing and trying out other ROMs I stick with root box. I only needed one time charger all day long .

I'm getting 3.5 or so screen time consistently with black bean. I'm actually getting better battery life than ICS out the box and with the same installed apps. Smooth performance too. I'm liking 4.2 so far. I do miss the TW calendar and music player. They seemed to work the best for me. Tethering is also been hit or miss. Nothing a big deal breaker for me though.

I was using Sniper's Baked BlackBean ROM and I loved it but the only thing that's preventing me to stay with it is the limited 4G speed so I went back to Kobridge's Stock ROM.
In response to people who dislike the newly implemented toggles page: just swipe your notification bar with two fingers and voilĂ , straight to toggles.
Don't thank me, I figured it out from a review video myself (QBKing77 I believe, but I could be wrong). But should save you that extra second you were complaining about...

I think it is nice but, something they could have included in the original Jelly Bean instead of making a separate Jelly Bean version.
Does tethering always work for free on Cyanogenmod 10.1 4.2.2 Wild for the night?

Lol I'm pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be accessed ahaha, it's how Google showed it off at 4.2's release. But thanks anyways I miss having the music controls on the lockscreen, now I have to place my own widget and swipe over to change songs

Ever since I switched from my Nokia S60 phones to my Samsung Android phone I've been looking for ways to theme my UI. This got me into flashing. But with every ROM I try, I keep going back to stock since it's more stable and I like the stock Calendar, browser, etc.
I keep reading on this forum that it is possible to modify UI elements by editing the systemui.apk, so theoretically it seems like it should be possible to create a theming engine for the stock ROM. Is it possible?

XTheme engine!

Enables theming on practically all ROMs
You probably have to search for some themes though

Yes, I know this is an alpha build. But why, exactly are the home screens 6x6 rather than the normal on this ROM. Its a great ROM, but this is bugging me. Not to mention everything on this alpha build is small. Does anyone know how to fix this? Maybe its just somewhere in the setting and I didn't see it. I've been flashing ROMs for years, and there's nothing like 4.4. I love it. I just don't like how everything is small I. This specific build. I looked at the nexus 5's home screen screenshots and it was 4x5 or 4x4. Not 6x6. Can I fix it or do I need to revert to my old 4.3.x rom until another 4.4 ROM comes out without the small sized everything?

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place, but I rarely actually post anything on XDA because I have no reason to actually post something. I just read. But I don't have enough yet to post this in the actual SlimKat post in the development forum.
Thnx.

I figured it out. For all of you who have the same problem: get a root browser -> open it-> open the system folder -> build.prop -> change ro.sf.lcd_density=240 to ro.sf.lcd_density=292
Hope that helps!

I believe its because the 4.4 contact and phone don't fully work with the nexus. That's what I was told, but the phone app is 4.4 so it doesn't make much since to me either. The contact app though is still 4.3 though.

i personally like the smaller grid.. i wish google would make it so you could set your own custom size
i enjoy the roms that allow you to customize like that
