I'm trying to install Jellybean, and I put the .zip file on my phone via USB before rebooting into recovery. When I press "choose zip from sdcard" it says No files found.
I even tried the following command:
adb push ./bigxie_JRN84D_rooted_busybox_deodexed.zip /sdcard
But it still says no files found.
I'm using a Galaxy nexus, which doesn't use a sdcard, only internal memory so maybe I am doing something wrong.
My phone is currently bricked and won't boot, so the only thing I can do is use recovery mode.
Any help would be appreciated.
Edit:
Tried unmounting and remounting everything, and it worked.

Alright, so I managed to get CWM flashed on my device and have done the fastboot oem unlock, but I can not for the life of me get CWM to flash anything.
If I try and go "choose zip from sdcard" I get:
Code:
Couldn't open directory.
Couldn't open directory.
No files found.
If I reboot into CWM again, I can sometimes push ONE file. Any time after that will give me this error:
Code:
failed to copy 'insertanyziphere.zip' to '/sdcard/': Is a directory
**Update**
Fixed it! I uninstalled the adb/fastboot device from the device manager, and re-installed it using the 'naked' drivers available
Flashed the stock rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373995
And voila! I can push more than once, and the SDcard is being read!
OK so I put the newest nightly for CM10 onto my Nexus and it has been a while since I did a clean install so I performed a full wipe, but accidentally wipped the sdcard as well. Soooo, I have no update on the phone to flash via recovery and I wiped sysetem, data etc.... so I got nothing.
I know I can either flash the update via fastboot, or send the update to the sdcard via abd but for the life of me I cannot remember how to do either. This is my only phone and im home alone with my two kids right now so I need it fixed asap. Everything I have found doesn't seem to be working for me. I tried
while in recovery mode hook phone to computer via usb, then open cmd and "abd push c:\android\platform-tools\update,zip (I renamed it to this) /sdcard
No luck there.
I also tried from fastboot mode :fastboot flash update update.zip" Thought I had success here because it was sending the date but the phone still wouldn't boot past the "Google" screen.
I know someone on here has the answer for me easily, and it would be much appreciated if anyone could help me out.
Thanks in advance

Try ...
adb push c:\android\platform-tools\update,zip /sdcard/
or
adb push c:\android\platform-tools\update,zip /data/media/
fastboot flashes .img files
Ok so I have figured something strange out here. I thought that I had accidentally wiped the sdcard. I thought this because in recovery I select "install from sdcard" and then "choose zip from sdcard". Then I see " 0/ " It didn't even occur to me that everything was in there because that has never happened before. I would love to just restore a nandroid I have saved, but when I select restore in recovery it tells me that no files are found, because they are in "0/sdcard/". If I navigate there in recovery I can see the nandroid but CWM cant find it. Any ideas on this??
Problem description
trying to get the phone to update from 4.0.4 to 4.2.x, [Phone has 'ClockWorkMod recovery v6.0.0.5' and I believe is rooted]
first tried via OTA automatic update, but at bootloader it says something like 'failed signature verification, aborted'
I then downloaded 'cm-10.1-20130411-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-M3' placed it in a folder, but it won't install at bootloader, says 'something ~~, aborted' again
Some thread mentioned need to install a kernel, so I installed 'franco Kernel r374', in recovery mode ['install from zip' etc]
then the phone won't start, gets stuck at white Google logo and open lock screen
I managed to get ADB and get it show up with 'adb devices', (but phone won't show on file explorer)
Tried 'adb push ***.zip' [I think it was a different CWM zip file], screen says 'failed to copy ***, to /sdcard: read only file system'
I went into recovery mode, tried "mounts and storage, mount /sdcard"
It would not mount, screen flashes briefly, but mount status stay the same
Then tried 'format /sdcard', it seemed to have done that
ADB still won't push anything into the phone, and recovery mode takes about 5 seconds to go into the blue menu screen, whereas before it was immediate
Now the phone is still stuck at logo screen and can't copy anything from ADB to /sdcard, but adb is able to push file into /data/media, but 'install zip from folder' thingy won't find /data/media folder
Please help, sorry if posting new thread is wrong, my first post
many thanks to everyone who provided help, finally i managed to flash the kernel and 4.2.2 across and the thing works now
/data/media is the same as /sdcard/

While connected to USB, go to "choose zip from sdcard". Now push the files. Once it's done, back out of that menu, and reenter.

Hey everyone,
I completely wiped my phone (did a format of data, system etc. on CWM, wiped dalvik/cache etc.). Now I'm stuck with CWM and want to install a rom. I tried to put the .zip on the phone via "adb push /data/media". However, after doing that when I select "choose zip from /sdcard" it says "Couldn't open directory. No files found.".
If I open the shell via adb, I can find the /data/media folder as well as /sdcard, however, I can't cd into it. But I can see (by the folder-size) that the folder contains the .zip.
Any ideas? Is there maybe another way of installing a rom via CWM than through a zip on /sdcard?
Thanks!
*edit:
adb sideload isn't working either
Go to "install zip via sideload" in CWM (if it's not there, update your CMW first!), connect to PC, and run "adb sideload *PATH-TO-ROM-ON-YOUR-PC*". If your storage is not corrupted then it should load a ROM to your storage AND immediately flash it.

I tried it through sideload.
After the transfer finished it doesn't install the .zip automatically. However, when I go back in CWM it starts installing but fails with "E: Can't open /tmp/update.zip (bad)"
I solved the problem by flashing TWRP recovery and doing a full data wipe (not just the normal one).
Hi everyone,
I've been having an issue with installing the Cyanogenmod to my Samsung Galaxy S2 T-Mobile SGH-T989 phone using TWRP v2.8.7.0.
I was having an issue where the external SD card where I had the ROM zip file (and my nandroid backup) was not recognized and so I couldn't access the ROM file from Recovery. My husband helped me using adb push and we put it into /data/media/0.
When I tried to install the ROM file, it says "Unable to find partition for path '/data'" and it says an error flashing zip and said it Failed. If I try to reboot, it says "No OS installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?"
We tried putting the ROM zip file into /data, but it does the same thing.
Any ideas? Any help will be appreciated.

try to flash the rom via adb sideload! (advanced->adb sideload) if the data problem persists you may need to wipe /data

I finally got it to work. The next day when I went to retry sideload instead of push, the phone wouldn't even power on, and I had to soft reset my phone by taking out the battery and holding down the power button for a minute. I ended up using ROM manager to install Clockworkmod Recovery and used that to install a different Cyanogenmod zip instead. It took a couple of tries to get the Cyanogen mod to install and boot, but it's working now.
Thanks for your help.
I had that problem before. It happened. I believed there are various versions of TWRP out there. However, I am using the one posted in the T989 forums (Pananoid Thread) and it works ok.
