[Q] Does Adobe Flash Player install/work on Jelly Bean? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Anybody that has a maguro updated to the JB preview, does Adobe Flash Player show up in the Play store for you? Does it install? Does it work in the browser?

Confirmed works for me.

From my experience with the SDK emulator the browser still supports plug ins and flash installs fine. I couldn't get any flash elements to load but this could be because I wasn't using the right flash apk. My impression of JB from the SDK emulator was that it wasn't very drastic of a change from ICS so its very likely flash will work on most devices that it worked on with ICS. Most of the changes with JB are software enhancements and new software features.

Thanks for the answers. I was wondering because I recall reading that Adobe said that ICS would be their last iteration of Android that they would support and even that was reluctant. Also, now that Chrome is the default browser in JB (I think) it also does not support the Flash plugin that I'm aware of.

There is a difference between not being supported and not working. The default browser in the SDK emulator and probably in AOSP is still just called browser and works in the same fashion the ICS one did. Chrome isn't open source so it makes sense that its not being distributed with JB. I wonder if it will be included with the JB GApps?

Can't play embedded youtube video from websites

Hello.I have a question to ask anyone here. Why i can't play/view embedded youtube video from blogs but i can play from my youtube apps?Sorry if its a stupid question,i'm totally new to these android stuff...
Because watching YT / other Flash videos from within the browser requires Adobe Flash support, which is not provided on the Wildfire. Youtube's native client is different, hence it is supported.
But I've been able to access flash content on my phone since I got it? Even since I switched from stock to CM7....
Examples please? Do you actually have Adobe Flash from the market installed? Because, Flash requires an ARMv7 Processor (Wildfire has ARMv6), so, Flash will never work on the Wildfire.
Flash Lite works, but, then again, its an HTC App, and works only on the stock ROMs. :/
Is there possibility off porting flashlite to cm7? Any other alternative of using flash ?
download skyfire webbrowser and u ll be able to see most sites that need flash player.
Device:HTC Wildfire
Sky fire is no longer available directly from the marketplace so there's some hunting around if you want a version compatible with the wildfire. To note, it doesn't work with all videos.
flash lite is a feature only found in sense ROM's.
The wildfire cannot support the full flash due to its ARMv6 processor.

After installing this app and rebooted my phone the wifi stopped working, and i am using this app with the Custom kernel for sense WS ROMS, dont know if it is from the kernel or from the app.
I installed the kernel normaly without wipping anything just flashed the zip and them reboot throught the recovery menu, afhter the phone booted i shut it down athe i turn it on again, and everything was working fine even the wifi, only afther the instalation of this app and rebooted the phone the wifi stoped working.
Any clues???
I can always restore the backup i made before i flashed the kernel but i would really like to have the adobe flash working on my wildfire s.
first I installed the app then the kernel. everything is working fine here. if you want to go back to default kernel just download the stock from the kernel page. might be your router try to reboot it.

I guess you gave your own answer... you've got a WF instead of a WFS... unless you did a typo?
Fash Player 10.2 for ARMv6
No Typo,
One of the Links stated that HTC Wildfire was a Supported Mobile Phone?
Installed fine, however in Opera Mobile doesn't seems to be working really properly (eg. when starting a video, it will not start it). Didn't try Dolphin yet (was even slow on Galaxy, can't imagine on poor Wildfire S...)
*update* in Doplhin only flash banner works, video not
in Opera - seems it's not working at all
*update2* I think it does not recognize new plugin. Maybe ROOT is required?

It doesn't work on my stock rom. I've seen several posts stating that you need a custom rom to use this modded flash.
If i just click on install, the flash player installs. After a reboot, the FlashPlayer works.
How do i know if that FlashPlayer works? Youtube worked before the installation.

It's probably loading the mobile version if you don't have your user agent edited. Just try megavideo.com, or something with full flash and not mobile optimized.
No, it does not work. Later I will run another try.
I try it this way:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION
DOWNLOAD THE APP BELOW AND SAVE IT TO YOUR SD CARD
NOW MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 'UNKNOWN SOURCES' ENABLED IN YOUR SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS
NOW OPEN ANY FILE MANGER LIKE ASTRO AND NAVIGATE TO THE APK FILE WHEREVER YOU STORED IT
JUST OPEN THE FILE AND CLICK INSTALL
NOW REBOOT THE PHONES ONCE INSTALLATION COMPLETE

It works with the CM7.1 port and kernel by alquez.
Perhaps Jikantaru can build a new JikantaruROM Euro version including the FLASH PLAYER 10.2 FOR ARMv6 AND ARMv7 ANDROID PHONES.
You'll see if it works, when you visit xda portal and youtube window can play in browser. Go watch Sassibob or caplat.
Sassibob or Caplat work without any problems on youtube mobile.
But if i try megavideo.com then it jerks; image and sound are async.

Yeah, especially if you have the large player loading, if you click small player in the bottom left hand side, it'll run a lot smoother.. at least you have full flash working though. The megavideo player does use a lot of resources now since they changed it, it used to run a lot faster.
Hopefully someone will post Flash 11 for armv6 devices soon, and hopefully there are some major improvements.
Can someone write me any positive aspect of having flash in smartphones?
Flash is for playing videos on your browser without having another app to play it ex: youtube app, also it is needed in some websites to show flash images, etc.
I think Pudel89 post that's ironic.

Dolphin HD 8.6 does not support Flash for Nexus 7

Just a heads up....
I know Dolphin HD + flash is a popular combo for many on this forum.
I just updated to latest HD and when first opened it tells you Flash is not supported in Android 4.1 since it will crash the browser and thus has been deactivated. Went to settings and could not reactivate it.
I had to do a restore of all of my apps and was able get back to Dolphin HD 8.5.1 which is the last version Flash was enabled.
Perhaps someone will hack 8.6 to enable Flash in future. For now, don't update to 8.6
I've switched to Aurora and AOSP Browser for now. No idea what Dolphin devs are thinking. Way to completely lose your user base.

Starting from 4.1 Android does not support flash. Kind of a shame if you ask me. Hope HTML5 takes off for more interactive web content on mobile.

Android supports it just fine if you sideload the .apk. Play Store is what doesn't support Flash on 4.1.

The problem is that Google Chrome (but not Chromium, the basis, and almost an exact replica of Chrome) comes with it's own Flash plugin. I don't know if that stops it from using other plugins, but im guessing so, unless you edit the plugin path.
You can also check this tutorial How to install flash on android devices, you woud find latest .apk version there
Try Firefox...it works great with Flash

[Q] Flash on Android 4.4 kitkat

Hi,
This might not be specific to N7 2013
but after kitkat update flash player sems to be broken, I am unable to see in browser flash video.
I am using Flash player v 11.1.115.69 and latest version of firefox beta.
Is anyone else facing the same issue, any workarounds ?
I think it doesn't work because of 4.4. I can't get it to work on my N5 and others from N5 forum can't also. I think I'll keep my N7 at 4.3 until there's a work around.
I have the same issue. I've tried using different browsers (Dolphin, Boat, and Firefox) but no luck. From what I've read in the N5 forum, they are having the same issue, so it looks like it could be due to Kitkat.
very frustating indeed
Man... Argggggghhhh...... Google changed the web engine to Chromium. This is device wide & unless someone builds a custom app (browser) that uses the older AOSP web engine (& that is packaged with it), device side rendering is impossible. Server side rendering only for now, PERIOD.

Hmm. What's so special about Puffin? There's half a dozen of browsers claiming Flash support, but only Puffin works in 4.4.
puffin has integrated flash u don't need to install Flash separately

Puffin is a cloud browser. It uses server-side rendering and streams it to your phone. In this method, the quality is quite poor due to low frame rates and artifacts in the video. I have Puffin paid version.
ok, so then in whose hands is the destiny of Flash under KitKat 4.4? Is it Google/custom ROM developers? Adobe?

You can uninstall Flash you know. Puffin is server-side rendering, which is why it is not true HD on videos. As I mentioned above, unless an updated webkit is developed, there will be no device-side rendering due to the Chromium webkit.
Are there any good HTML 5 websites that you guys know for live TV and sports streaming? No flash is a big bummer!

u can install Adobe Flash Player 11.1 but it won't run i Firefox and Chrome don't support it so i dunno which bowser u wanna use.
Link for Flash Player: Adobe_Flash_Player_11.1.apk
EDIT:
Flash works with the "Dolpin browser" on KitKat but it's just laggy as hell, it wasn't in Firefox with Jelly Bean
so i hope there will come a fix for Firefox so flash will work under Kitty Kat.
Probably better to use the actual Adobe site for getting the flash apk - http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
The last one (ever) is 11.1.115.81 - http://download.macromedia.com/pub...oid/11.1.115.81/install_flash_player_ics.apk
Edit: corrected version.

Yeah, my bad; reading & typing on the move. That's actually what I've got installed. I'll update my post.
Has anyone tried the latest version of flash on Kit Kat? Any of the browser would allow flash to run on Kit Kat? I rally want to make sure I'm able to run flash before updating my nexus 7 to Kit Kat, because I'm mainly using the tablet for class and there's lecture videos that comes only in flash version. If I can't run flash, I'm not updating..
