I wasn't able to watch the Google I/O yesterday so I decided to search the internet but couldn't find my answer.
Will we see 5 Nexus devices announced this October like the rumor suggested or is it unlikely?

What?
You mean like a new nexus phone?
Yes sir.
Rumors running around the internet are that google will release 5 Nexus devices each from different manufacturers.
For example, one from Samsung, another from HTC, etc.
I want to know if google said anything about this during the Google I/O yesterday.

Not sure if they said something about 5 new phones, but they said, they are trying to fix the android version fragmentation problem.
Nope, wasn't mentioned. We'll most likely hear about it later in the year
Alright, thanks

I was hoping for an announcement too. Also when the price of the Galaxy Nexus was brought down to 350$ I was expecting something.
My old N1 is dying on me! Need a new Nexus phone!
The rumor was up to 5 Nexus "Devices", not necessarily phones.
They already have the Nexus 7 and Nexus Q, and if you include the Galaxy Nexus, that's 3 Nexus "Devices" that they are selling through the Play Store.

Good point! Wait for 2 more devices! Hoping for a phone! or even a Nexus 10!
Personally I hope they stick with the 1/year strategy. Makes them feel more special. Having multiple Nexuses (Nexii?) makes it seem like they're gonna go the Galaxy route and literally slap the Nexus name on anything that connects to facebook
Unlimited nexus
How about nexus certified. You get stock rom alternative for these devices and faster update?

Most probably they'll go the Apple route. A tablet and a phone alternating every 6 months, with one major version upgrade a year.
So we'll probably get a new Nexus phone on 4.2+ Jellybean this late fall/winter and one or two other Nexus devices

I know Gnex just got update with jelly bean but does anyone know when Galaxy Nexus 2 is comiing out? will it prob be next year??
just asking cause i can't find any rumors regarding it...
I doubt very highly that the next iteration of the Nexus phone will be called the Galaxy Nexus 2. Historically, there's not been much precedent for that, unless you count the G1 and G2, but that was before the Nexus moniker. Nothing was announced about it at Google I/O, so I would suspect the next Nexus phone is a long way off.

On the other hand, they just announced a tegra 3 tablet and the gnex is the better part of a year old. I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with a quadcore phone toward the end of the year.

I think real rumors started showing around august/September.... phone was shown in November?
I don't see why we would see a nexus phone launch in under a year since the galaxy nexus was shown. Unless there is credence to having multiple phone manufacturers go at once.
I'd say a release is 6-12 months out for the next phone, just based on common sense
I don't think there gonna make a galaxy nexus 2

I wish it is Moto Nexus
Quad-core nexus with 5mp camera. That's something to laugh about.
Well every november a new Nexus comes out to play..so be looking for some info on or around sept/Oct..should be based off the SG3..with some extra toys I myself really cant wait!! Cash is just waiting..l0l
I'm hoping realistically for this.
Quad-Core S4 (If they can get the 4G to work with it)
2GB RAM
3000maH+ battery
4.5-4.7 inch screen
720p+ screen
8MP rear camera with badass sensor
2MP front camera
Android 4.1+ obviously

To be realistic, im guessing it will be a somewhat gimped SGS3

I'm Hoping its something more in the vein of the Nexus One where it was a completely unique device with nothing like it on the market.
Should I expect a Nexus announcement around November or do you think we won't see a new Nexus phone this year?

Probably gonna happen. But no one knows. I'd be surprised if they let a year go by without updating the reference Nexus hardware.
There's rumours that you will see 5 nexus devices this year.
Whispers are saying that different manufacturers will all release a nexus device at the same time...
Don't how true it is mind.
Personally i think either Samsung or Motorola will release the next version on their own as always, but time will tell.
That's what i read.
It will probably be around 600-700 at launch.
Not sure of I want to pay that much. The Galaxy Nexus looks really good right now though.
So of they do release a Nexus phone it will only be hardware and no software since they jusy released JB.
We'll see what happens though.
I am just trying to figure out wether to buy a Nexus now or wait for the next one.

I wouldn't hold my breath for 5 nexus devices. That rumor was pretty roughly based and never followed up.
Simple yes/no poll to see how many people would be purchasing the successor to the Galaxy Nexus if it comes out (again) without an SD card slot. So far I don't believe any Nexus device has ever supported external storage (I may be wrong) so the next version probably won't either.
Personally I love my Nexus but the lack of storage (13GB) has really hindered my day to day use, there is no unlimited data where I live and it is really expensive. Most of my movies/series are 720p so take up a lot of space.
If there's no SD card slot on the new Nexus, I'll probably get an S3 and flash CM10 on it.. best of both worlds
I'd be fine if it had a min of 32gb

Guys as far as I know nexus device comes with new major software release
Nexus 7 -. Jelly bean
Galaxy Nexus - ice cream sandwich
Xoom - honeycomb
Gingerbread - nexus s
Froyo - nexus
Why would you expect another nexus device this year? It's very unlikely something will emerge. I'm guessing new nexus will come out with android 4.2 (5?) next year. And to be honest it's a really good turnaround. 2yrs its just for the time for contract to finish for those who bought it that way.
It's still great device. If you want performance device to play games etc buy s3 if you want constant updates on time and have similar experience to apple devices stay with this one

What he said. Also there are very few if not no rumors about a new nexus. At this time last year rumors were running wild. Maybe Google got better at keeping it a secret but I have a feeling there may not be a nexus phone released this fall.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
We already know the next Nexus will not have a micro-SD slot unless Google reverses course.
I'm starting to doubt we will be seeing any nexi in the wild this year
I'll still get the next nexus without an ext SD. So far I haven't used up my phone with 16gb. Only reason I wanna get a new nexus will be die to the ****ty reception on the galaxy nexus. And I have changed and tried all the different radios and rils.
Other than that the ROM development for Nexus phones is phenomenal. Galaxy Nexus is the first Nexus for me and swear I cannot go back to OEM phones now.

There's two Android releases per year.
JB-? in 2012
Honeycomb-ICS in 2011
Froyo-GB in 2010

For me the question would be, why not?
I mean, I cant even fill up my 16Gb neXus.. I only use some 2-3 gigs, that's only some mp3s and games. I dont store any HD movies on my phone.. not a movie person so 16gigs is plenty for me.

honeycomb was for tablets only, hardly counts imo..
I like the idea of one block of storage, as long as it's large enough to be practical. I don't think 16GB will cut it next go around. Granted, I've only used 9GB of my 32, but it sounds like the majority needs more.
It honestly doesn't bother me that there is no micro SD slot. I hardly keep any files on my phone except for music and not very much at that. 16gb is more than enough storage for me.
Also what everyone else is saying, I Dont think there will be another nexus device this year.

yes i will. im not even close to running out of room on my phone now. not even half. theres no point in a sd card really
most likely. i still have room on my phone with 16GB but i would definitely prefer 32GB.
I most likely will be getting the next next Nexus.

I know.but i have read earlier somewhere that it will be released by google. So it will get all the updates. So basically it is another nexus without the name cause google have already released the nexus last year november
Still not relevant.
First off, thats a render. Something anyone can do in Photoshop. So dont get too excited. Second, that may not be a "Nexus" device. Google bought Motorola a while ago and was rumored to be making a phone with them. It May or may not be the next nexus. Bottom line, no one knows what will be announced at Google I/O. So no one here can actually advise you on wether to wait or not.
I'm in the same boat. Personally I will wait till the next Nexus phone. It's just not worthy it to buy an soon to be outdated phone right now.

I had the nexus one previously which I loved, this phone came out and had an HD screen and just seemed like a good upgrade. After owning it for 15 months, the nexus experience with this phone has been so different compared to the nexus one and not in a good way. My next device will need to have a huge battery, an amazing camera and a Full HD screen. If Google releases a nexus with these features then I'll be getting a nexus, if not I'm jumping ship.

Was either the gnex or iPhone 4S at the time 18 months ago for me, i could have had either for free as i started a new contract an i went with the gnex as there was no other decent phones at the time that stood out besides those two, still regret signing up for 2 years on contract though.

For me it was stock Jelly bean and project butter that made me jump from S2. If there wasn't jb i wouldn't switch.
I bought my GSM Galaxy Nexus at 11 May 2012
when my HTC HD2 finally crash and unable to boot into ROM.
At that time, this mobile phone costs HKD3513
and I think it is balance of price and performance.
Best phone for me. Truly All in one and has no analogs. Only 2 cons: missing SD card slot, PenTile OLED. Pros: fast TI OMAP with great battery life, RGB led indicator, tonns of ROMs and future support from Google, OLED, USB Host, HDMI and many others... Choose between Nexus 3 and 4. But LG's has no USB Host, has worse battery cover and I dont like Qualcomm
That time, it was the first phone with the all new Android 4. It also had a big screen, software buttons and a very nice notification light

I didn't choose. I was sent two Galaxy Nexuses by Verizon to replace two HTC Thunderbolts (each of which had been replaced themselves several times) because they would constantly drop all data connections. After threatening to cancel my account, two Galaxy Nexuses were offered. Best phones I've owned so far. I laugh when people say the radios in this phone suck. You haven't seen bad radios until you've owned a Thunderbolt!

Nexus. 'Nuff said. I see people talking in other threads about how the nexus line isn't what it used to be, if we don't get KLP they won't ever buy Nexus again, they'll buy iPhones or other Android phones. I don't know about everyone else, but I didn't buy a Nexus looking for updates FROM GOOGLE. I bought it because it is THE easiest phone to develop for, with probably the largest development community. I wouldn't be shocked to get 2 more updates from the awesome devs here at XDA. The nexus line isn't a "Give me updates" line. It is a development line.
Upgraded from O.G. Droid to the Galaxy Nexus, so for me it was upgrading 4G and getting another pure Android device. I'm on Verizon and I personally think the development for this phone is outstanding, just like it was for the O.G. Droid. I will always have a Nexus device, I just hope Verizon will keep getting some type of Nexus device.
Its Google & Samsung partnership and its a pure android and its NeXuS

I'm sorry but the nexus one was advertised as a developers phone. The Galaxy Nexus was not, Google geared the Galaxy Nexus towards consumers and they did the same with the Nexus 4 and the Nexus line of tablets. Don't tell me this is a developer phone and expect that to make up for its downfalls.

It may not have been advertised as a developer phone but google designs their nexus devices to be easily modded and developed on. Just because they wanted it to be easily usable by every day consumers doesn't mean it's not a development device. I think for most developers/rooters, that is the big draw of this and all other nexus phones. And I'm sure for many, that does make up for it's downfalls. I personally see no downfalls with the phone, I've had nothing but a great experience with it in all aspects other than sprint's service, which is no fault of the device itself.
