thanks, but seems no significant difference

There is now a new quick button for "Sharing" on top right corner when you open an app in Play Store.
You can long press on it to choose a default "share" app.
Overall, it is faster!
Note: it is Build version 3.7.11
Note: You should have linked to the original post instead of attaching it to your post to give due credits to the original poster!

Can the 4.1 apps be ported back to 4.0.4?
Like the new voice search?

Guys, stop complaining. No one did any work for it. It comes in gApps, something which Google links. Do yo go and complain to every rom builder who gives a media fire link to gApps? No, thought not.

[App] Gmail 4.2 apk

Credits go to Android Police for getting this.
To install, I uninstalled the old app with titanium backup.. Then reboot and install the apk (Gmail_v4.2.apk)
There you go - pinch to zoom in Gmail!
Works perfectly for me on XXDLIB
UPDATE: Tylwith added a CWN flashable zip - attached (gmail4.2.zip)
UPDATE 2: travp624 made an inverted colours apk - attached (Gmail4.2-signed-aligned.apk)
Android Police have an article about the new features here http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...amped-attachments-better-navigation-and-more/
On the source article on Android police they said they are not yet allowed to post the apk. I hope to that someone will post it here.
You would think XDA would have posted the APK already. This is my first time seeing a news site have APK's before XDA. It's usually news sites posting what XDA has discovered.

Right on. It would have been easier to post a link for the download than type a sentence saying you have permission to post the apk.
That's how you can clearly see what kind off people they are.

Just a heads up, in my case (running CM9) I had to delete all gmail apks, reboot, then change permissions and copy the new apk to system/app for it to install. YMMV

sharing the apk here, AndroidPolice has gotten enough traffic out of this one
Here is how I installed this on wanam 3.7 (deodexed rom) You may have to find and delete .odex files on stock roms
(you may want to do a full backup in cwm first)
plug phone into usb cable from pc
Drag file from pc desktop to phone.
Run root explorer on phone (or a file manager with root access)
go to system/app
mount r/w
long press gmail2.apk
rename as gmail2.bak
mount r/o
now still in root explorer go to sdcard
press androidpolice_gmail2.apk and choose install from the package installer.
(Installs in data/app)
reboot phone
Enjoy pinch to zoom
If you want it in system/app find another guide

Lulz that's a douchey thing to say considering at the very least 30% of your content originates from people on this board that hardly profit from their love of android. I never ever see the word exclusive coming out of here. You turned your "leak" into a three article circle jerk.

Any one know of any apps that handle multitasking like the Nexus devices do, or even better like how CM10 handles it?

The Nexus devices show a transparent floating list on the right side of the screen where you can swipe away open apps, CM goes one step further and gives you a button to close all open apps. The HTC One takes you to another screen with really small pictures of apps you swipe away one by one to close. Ideally I am looking for the CM version of that, or would even settle for the stock Google version.
Wait until the Google edition then flash that.

TrickDroid rom has an option in its settings to change from sense multitasking to the nexus style you are referring to. Only thing is there is no close all option like CM.

You'll probably have to ask someone to make it for you specifically, or Flash TrickDroid which isn't far off a stock rom other than some theme options

Am I the only who thinks that this update sucks monkey****?
Navigation has been blown back a couple of years. All the options are gone, and it is not even possible to lookup you contacts addresses anymore. This update could have been so much, and yet it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Think I'm gonna have to sideload the previous version. What a shame.
I've had to uninstall this apk as it's not working properly on my HOX with CM10.1.1 stable. I'll wait until it updates itself via the store

CM10.1.1 was Android 4.2.2 thus you will required another APK solely for Android 4.2 for you. This one is for Android 4.1.

Requote from Android Police..
Update #3 by Artem: We have so far seen at least 6 variations of the APK, with some aimed at API 16 and 17 (Android 4.1+) and some at just API 17 (Android 4.2+). Some of them have mdpi, some hdpi, xhdpi, and xxhdpi resources. There are tons of variants.
What we'll do is provide another mirror for Android 4.1 owners, but you may end up with a version of the APK not optimized for your device (which means it may try to scale lower-quality textures up or high-quality ones down and ultimately either look worse or behave slower than it should).
My advice to you is to uninstall the update in a few days and reinstall the one from the Play Store, which will automatically pull the APK optimized for your device.

The only difference is the sound it makes when you activate voice search and the margin width and height between the home screen and the search bar (it's less). The only thing I was waiting for was the new app drawer icon- but I guess that's only with Material, so it's pretty much L exclusive at this point.
