The next Nexus isn't likely to come out til October or later, considering the Galaxy Nexus is the primary device for Jelly Bean still.
And yes, the Galaxy Nexus will work overseas. It has UMTS 900/2100 support (in addition to 850/1700/1900 for USA) as well as quadband GPRS so it fully supports networks in every country on the planet.

I loved Cyprus -- when I was a kid toured around on a motorcycle. Anyway, there are different phones for different markets. The US t-mo phone will (of course) do data on t-mo but also, will work on at&t. It will also work on the more universal 2100 3G frequency for Europe and Asia.
If you buy the typical Euro phone, it does not have the 3G frequencies which work in the USA. On the other hand, any of the phones should connect w/o issue for text and voice.
Make sure, if he's buying on line, he does not get a version designed for some of the Arab language markets which do not have market.
Hello guys, I am currently located in the Caribbean (Dominican Republic) and will be traveling next month to the US. I plan to order a Galaxy Nexus while I am there and take it back with me to the Dominican Republic. I would like to know if this phone will be able to be used outside the US without an issue (My provider uses the same GSM band as ATT USA)?
Oscar
Yes, it will work for you. You can use it on any GSM carrier in the world.

Thanks for the fast reply! It's a relief to know :victory:
Bring some of those Dominican women back to the states also :good:
Its (in all practicality) the exact same as all other i9250 unlocked GNexes.
A Galaxy Nexus in Venezuela.
Hi you all, I hope someone reads this or something. I'm new around here. Even though I don't think so, I hope not to be breaking any rule by posting in this particular thread.
I'm about to buy a Nexus and have it shipped to Venezuela, let's see how that goes.

Oscar, I travel every year to the DR and this year it would be for christmas.
This time I want to be able to use a SIM Card and have data over there.
I have looked for them on the web, but with no success, so I found this and I was wondering if you could provide me with the bands of the carriers operating in the country: Orange, Viva and Claro.
And some additional information about the quality in the service of each one of them.
You can PM me if you want to.
Well, hopefully you'll reply jajajajaja :fingers-crossed:
Bye everyone.
I'm in Korea for a year, and I am looking to buy a new phone. I'm looking at the Galaxy Nexus and I have a quick and simple question.
Is the Galaxy Nexus that I would buy in Korea the same phone I would get off the shelf in the US?
I have an HTC Rezound that I'm not a huge fan of, and I'm thinking about just activating it in the US when I go home for a month this winter and then using my upgrade when I get back the US next August.
thanks!
I would assume that Korea has some of their own models [edit: apparently not] however they would definitely have the standard international GSM models on sale. Similarly, in the US there are ones from Verizon and Sprint that are using totally different hardware and run on CDMA. The only difference between a GSM one bought from Korea to the one in the US would be the Android build version (I'm not sure about the one in Korean variant but there's yakju/takju and the other variants).
Yes. I live in Korea right now and here we only have the international GSM models only. However, if you're looking to only use it on a pure stock software, you probably won't get jellybean right away. Korean GNexs still haven't got OTAs of JB yet.
Its interesting because I brought my Verizon GNEX from the states and here in Korea, I do have access to 3g data services and its "roaming". I dont know which carrier its roaming off and I just turn on airplane mode anyways. I just went with the crappy used phone and picked a 3g unlimited plan from the Onestop on Yongsan (also stationed in Korea).
Well i'd say but it from google play store since its first to get the major updates, i had the korean version of Gnex and i had to format it and install US version of ICS so i can get the jellybean update OTA 1st before other countries.

Model number e988 for India..
e988 is also for HK..
It only has 16 GB internal memory...
And this is the killer .....the India version will not have LTE! !
LG in its infinite wisdom has chosen to remove LTE from the Indian model..and probably the reason is that LTE is not yet available in India ..but were 3G phones not launched by Nokia like 6 years back when nobody in India even knew what 3G meant? This is ridiculous...does LG expect u to buy new phones when LTE launches in India in 6 months time?
and this phone just won the 'best LTE device's award ...how ironic
After having waited for the phone so long, feel cheated a bit

Actually 3G phones have a unified radio i.e. a set of only 4 frequencies and a single modem can be used for all those....in case of LTE a unified radio is still no available and each modem they have to put in a phone caters to a specific LTE band...even in a single country there are multiple bands and the phone's LTE won't work on each other....for example in Korea there are three models of LG OGP F-240 K/L/S each caters to LTE of different carrier and cannot be used on another network...
thus if LG removed LTE it is a good thing as it will be useless until a carrier identifies the band it has been allocated by the Govt and will use....also comparison with 3G before time is not relevant as working mechanism is slightly different

Actually there are a few things to consider here
1) the Indian version still uses snapdragon 600 which is a chipset that has LTE enabled by default ...so actually LG has had to work to disable it rather than enable it, and I fail to think why they did that. Reminds me very much of the nexus 4 where they did the same thing
2) you are right about LTE bands not decided yet for India ...only working LTE service, Airtel in kolkata on a pilot basis, uses a 2300 MHz band which is not supported by any of the international phones ...however it is likely that when LTE services are rolled out on a mass scale, bands will be chosen based on popular bands internationally, in which case the chosen bands are likely to be one of the bands on the phone ..unless the Indian rollout uses LTE advanced, which is not available on any version of this phone, I think there is a strong possibility that with LTE enabled, this phone will be future proof
3) I don't think disabling LTE will lead to any cost advantage as the chipset is still going to cost the same
4) with LTE disabled, any custom rom support for international versions like AT&T etc is unlikely to work for the Indian version (although that may be the case with LTE enabled also but with LTE disabled the radio configuration will definitely not allow such porting)
Only saving grace could be if LG announce that they are not advertising LTE in the specs but that have not disabled it.
Lets wait for July 4th

No LTE is not a thing to be disappointed about...at the moment you have no LTE network and as for "future proofing" the argument is not that strong as you cannot confirm that the band will match....
as for 16GB...imo it is enough but again you have the option of expandable memory and with a simple script you can move app data to sd card...plus usually 16/32 GB models differ in price as much as $100 but you can get a 32GB card for as low as $30.....so im happy if only 16GB model is available as it will keep price low and chance of more people buying it and hence maybe more development
in a nutshell i don't see any real issues here to get disappointed over but again its my humble opinion

Mumbai Update:-
I went to alfa today (renowned place for phones in mumbai) and they said they dont bother keeping LG's any model except the nexus 4, the dealer was very vague in saying once you buy an LG product forget about getting good service. I for one was upset knowing this at first.
secondly this youtube review shows extra battery, a chargeable dock aswell. So it doesnt matter if its non lte or 16 gb but if these goodies are packed then its worth it. I mean there isnt good resale with LG but what the heck its better than note 2 at the moment and pretty usable.
Anybody here knows any place in mumbai where is it gonna be available? Please update here

Alfa is a laggard, not a leader...they will keep a phone only if it becomes popular or the brand is popular..don't waste time worrying about what they said.
The extra battery and charging dock are only for the Korean version...for India you will get standard stuff - charger, headphones, USB cable

Alright... So basically... I was on holidays in Dubai over the last few weeks. And, over there, I was lucky enough to buy a note 7 SM-N930FD, from an official Samsung store. I had bought the phone on the 28th of august.. before the recall. Now I'm back home, in the UK, reading about the note 7 recall and have absolutely no idea how to proceed. I don't want to send my note 7 back to Dubai because I'll have no phone in the meantime and it just seems like a lengthy process. Is there a way that I can maybe get my device exchanged here in the UK? Or what are my other options?

Samsung UK are being pressed to replace the handsets with local variants. If you don't mind a UK variant you should have no problems. (Initially Samsung refused to swap at all!)
A few have said that Samsung service providers are exploring swapping out for the same model but I can't see that working. Most companies of the world only swap out a device for the local variant available in the country you're doing the exchange.
contact Samsung is your best bet......
accept the local variant, thats all
The fastest way is to directly contact a Samsung
Its easy tho, I purchased note 7 from Kuwait now I am in India (my home country). Here, Samsung delayed sale of note 7 that means till now no official launch of note 7 nor they have started any recall (obvious, they haven't sell single note 7 here). Now my question is how should I go for replacement? Help

Thanks, fortunately one of my friend went Kuwait today so I send my phone with him. :victory:
Got a call from Samsung UK. Basically stated they can swap the dual sim phone for the one sold in europe so single sim - coral blue or black.
Asked about getting the dual sim as replacement and they said I would have to sort it out with the region the phone is bought from - so Qatar in my case.
Might just get the UK version with its two year warranty
