first let us have an official ics build !
we'll think of jb later !
Other than a very small handful of new features and optimizations, it probably wouldnt take much to get Jellybean on the Nitro HD. This isnt a huge jump like it was from android 2.1 (eclair) to 2.2 (froyo).
i also hope for jellybean. after watching the I/O and being on 2.3.5 i see a lot of great features i would want.
offtopic, but is google glass just a camera with connectivity or did i miss something? it looked sick when they were skydiving though
Honestly, at the rate that LG is moving, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them skip ICS officially altogether. Kind of like Sony Ericsson did with going from eclair straight to gingerbread. It would make more sense, since they have put the effort into getting ICS close, why not just do the little extra and jump straight into jelly bean?

i remember reading somewhere that it would be getting ics late this summer...if it's going to take that long for them to finish it, i don't want to know how long it would take if they skipped it lol
lets just hope that LG keeps supporting this phone, even after jellybean; it's a really good phone (other than the battery life on stock 2.3.5...)
Yeah battery life on the stock gingerbread is rather sad. CM9 battery life is actually quite good now that im a couple days in.

yea, i sent my phone in and they put V11a on it....i'm actually getting a full day out of it (moderate usage, two short calls, camera app for .5 hour, texting a bit, had GPS on, "smart screen on"...etc) so i think they may have fixed the battery issues on 2.3.5....i'm hopefully going to root and put CM on it tuesday though...
this is going offtopic, lets start talking about Jellybean again?

I should rephrase that...
i hope lg will give us ICS (seems like they have), JB (really hopeful on this), and any other firmwares that get released after those two...
it's sad that they have to delay it though...
I'm tryed but we need help with unpack/change and repack CM9 boot.img. If someone can make this work, may be it's boot, now it's not bootable.
Thanks for the update. Im not sure what I can do as I am not good with that stuff but maybe someone like Hono could help?

This is the source code for the Nitro (p930). The 160mb file unzipped contains: P930_Gingerbread.zip, P930_Kernel.tar.gz, and a readme. Get it here from LG!
Cant wait to see the kernels popping up, should be a good time.
Let the development begin! I know I will be releasing a custom rom soon .
Stay tuned...
Reserved...Just in case of a fire.
The source has been out even longer than the custom ROMs for this phone. We just really need more devs to jump in on this phone. Its a great phone: amazing screen, fast CPU, 21mbps HSPA, LTE, etc.

First off, I would just like to thank all the devs who have worked like mad men on giving all us dinc users some delicious Ice Cream Sandwich, for without your amazing work I surely would have thrown my phone in a fit of rage into a wall a loooong time ago. Now, even though there's no official word yet, until later this morning , I think it's safe to assume that Jellybean will end up being named Android OS 4.1 instead of 5.0 (ICS, but with improvements). With all of this in mind, is it possible that we could actually get some JB love? I understand that we'll have to wait until they release the source code to know for sure, but with what we've heard so far it sounds like it actually could be possible. Idk, am I just missing something obvious here?
P.S. I'm asking this mostly because I'm trying to get my posts # up (I'm new here, be nice), although I'd love if we could entertain this thought for a moment. I think I only have like 2 posts so far (cuz I ACTUALLY search for stuff, WOW!!!!) so bear with me, please and thank you!

At the IO google said that they would release JB developer tools for JB. So will we have the full potential of 4.1 JB?
I ask this because JB probably won't be released (offically) for our phone.
PS: do you think the performance boosts of JB will have an significant effect on our phone? It seemed to on the nexus.
Probably not. We don't have kernel source for ICS as it is, even though our phone is slated to get it, but I wouldn't count on it so getting JB to work on our phone is highly unlikely.

I'm 76% sure we will get ICS. They have it for the S and they said they would release it at the end of August.
You must consider that JB is just an updated ICS. So we don't need an offical JB to have it running 100%. And Google will have a dev tool out that may help us. Lastly they have a dump floating around. Chances are that we can use that to help us build a 100% working ASOP JB build. But this all depends on when or if we get ICS.
Can a dev jump in and let me know of my logic is correct

And you believe everything HTC and Verizon tells you...? that Dev tool is worthless if it doesn't include specific Dinc 2 files that goes once again back to kernel source. That dump isn't as useful to us as you think otherwise we would have fully working ICS on our phones from ICS dumps. Trust me, if it were as simple as you believe it is, our devs would have done it already. The situation with JB is pretty much the same as ICS if not worse since there is also the issue of resizing XHDPI JB to WVGA because there are no JB phones with WVGA resolution. Don't quote me on that last part, but I'm sure a dev can correct me or explain it better.

Nexus S will receive the update and it is a single core WVGA phone. So, I'll be looking closely on feedback from Nexus S users. That should give us an idea of the performance gains that we can theoretically expect, if any, over ICS. And there is no need to be overly cynical about HTC and their promise of giving us ICS. They said they will by August end and so just wait for it. Regardless of what may have happened in the past, you will just burden your mind with needless thoughts...

They said to be determined by the end of August which is a big difference. And honestly at this point I don't really care if we get official ICS anymore I'm pretty content with the work that our devs have done so far without it, if official ICS is so important to some of these users they might as well have just stayed stock and waited for an OTA. I don't mean to take this out on you personally, but these threads about JB and "perfect and bugless" ICS roms have gotten ridiculously out of hand. Not to mention the amount of user that lack to read the threads let alone the OP when it comes to figuring out what bugs exist. Not directed at you at all, but more towards the users that have lately been demanding and expecting stuff from devs and not really contributing back to the community. I'm sure you've seen some of those posts. End rant
On second thought I shouldn't be on XDA at 2 morning when I have to be up at 7. No hard feelings?

Its been clarified by reps at both HTC and VZW that what they meant was that the date is to be decided but that we will have it by the end of August. Take that for what you will, as I don't believe there has been anything official that clarifies this. I am pretty confident that we will get it and can only hope that we will get kernel source soon after.
Back to the OP's question, I highly doubt that we will have a 100% working JB rom anytime soon considering we still have issues on ALL of our ICS roms. Once we have official ICS our awesome dev's will probably be able to get JB working well pretty quickly.

HTC has to release kernel source regardless because of the Chinese OTA they released. It might be as late as October, but they have to release it regardless or else they'd be in violation of some law that has an acronym I can't remember.

OTA ICS will (should) help remove many of the small bugs we have with Camera etc... And once we get a hand on our kernel source, I believe devs will be knee deep in Jellybean goodness... The main reason why I am looking forward for the OTA is for the kernel source... Hell no I am going to go stock.. Once the kernel is up, I am gonna go with Nits' Sense 4 ROM!
The To be determined thing is crappy of them... They say on their FB page that the "Release Date" is the thing to be determined, NOT whether it gets ICS or not... which makes sense given it is in the table of release dates and given they previously confirmed to give it ICS... anyway, time will tell... No breaking my head on this...

We really only need the kernal for ASOP. IC sense 3.6 has fully working cam.... IDK about video. Phone video is pointless because it has low FPS and the audio is terrible.
Why is camera always better on sense?

Yeah, I should try that ROM too, sometime... I was wondering how functional it is... The Sense 4 ROM has some issues with GPS too (if you toggle it, it will not come back on). But I don't like how Sense 3.6 is.
Even if we don't get an OTA HTC still has to release source because of the Chinese and Inc S ICS OTA. That's why I don't understand why some of the other users are so anxious for an official OTA, even with these other OTAs flash timing appears to still have not been fixed, whatever that is I haven't had it happen personally (knock on wood). We all need to relax and just wait for source to be posted and let the devs do their thing.
On a different topic, anyone else thing the default sig on the XDA app is kind of redundant?

In my experience it was bugless (IC 3.6) although it was laggy. It was laggy in the wrong places (homescreen, and scrolling through certain apps) and smooth in the wrong places (app drawer, GP, settings).
You need to check it out

I agree, there were a few things that happened recently that have gotten us excited..... (The S getting ICS and JB)....... but we need to chill out. And in the mean time enjoy what we DO have, and not think about what we don't and might not get.
Funny thing is this thread only exists becuase of the recent changes.

Hey guys I am so torn right now with choosing this device. I currently have sprint with a gnex, and am looking at the optimus g or the note 2. The only thing I'm torn about is developer support. I would like to know how things are on your phones as far as custom stuff. I know you can unlock the bootloader now which is huge but how is the jelly bean support for the sprint version so far?

Custom rom are slowly coming, currently there's support for CM10, AOKP and AOSP.
LG is also providing source code, so there's way for more in the future.
as for the JB support for the sprint, you can look in the LGOG Sprint section, people there will be more aware of this!
Don't try it. I did it for my OGEvo and things got ugly quickly!

I flashed onto AOSP, so far so good. Excellent battery life on my E971. Getting 1 hr more screen time and not as much Android OS usage compared to stock. So far im at 12 hours on battery with 1 hr 35min of screen time and only at 51%. Only problem is that I miss the notification light, but thats a small price to pay for the newest OS and excellent battery life
WOW!!! I finally decided to keep the phone and now this... not good for LG Do you think they will correct this via warranty?
Correct what?
Gotta be honest with you....I absolutely LOVE this phone and dont think I'm ever going to root it. No need...its fast as all ****ing hell and the software works great. I've been rooting flashing ROM's on my past 2 phones for years and I'm kind of over it....at least for now Yeah the advantages are great but the cons are also a pain in the ass. Camera's that only half work, almost endless amounts of bugs, etc. Not to mention LG is rolling out JB as we speak.
As for how the phone is....its FASTTTTTT. I destroyed my girlfriends S3 in Quadrant and its eaten up everything I've put thrown at it (games, multitasking with apps, etc) with ease.
/\ thats great that you find it fast, I did too when I was using stock ics.. then I flased the JB rom and its no doubt faster over stock.. way more snappy.. like noticibly more as well as better battery life to boot..
Glad that I went to the trouble tbh, this rom beats stock ics by a loooong shot
Considering that everything works (at least for me it does) it was well worth the effort to install it..
Stock JB or some CM/AOKP/AOSP flavored one?
I have no doubt that JB is faster on this than ICS but I'm just gonna hold out for the official, stock JB update. It'll be here in the states in a month or so.
I loved my og... key word, loved..
Dropped it in water. :crying: gotta pay 150 to get a new one with telus..
Just got my LS970 from Sprint. I have LTE in my area so that's awesome. ICS on this phone is a little laggy. It's not as smooth as one would expect, especially scrolling through web pages with a lot of pictures. Even the FB, Twitter, and G+ plus apps tend to lag as you scroll through pics. Other than that this thing is solid. I'm liking it so far but i can't wait for the Jelly Bean update.

Must be a Sprint firmware issue. No such ICS issues on GSM versions.
