Beta Update for LG GW910 (Panther)?

Hello! I've read that LG Panther have an update which supports copy/paste, but zune writes me that my phone is up to date (my current build is 7003). I've tried to change a region and tried to sign in using different accounts, but that was hopeless... Any opinion?

I've heard the same thing, and as far as I know, it's not going out via Zune (I've not got it, or seen it on either a Taylor or a Panther). I think we'll just have to wait...

The update isn't there yet, but I suspect it'll go there before anywhere else.

i've searched in google about this and understood that zune must flash this update, but it haven't caused. I think a special version of zune exists (not 4.7).

I very much doubt you'll find an update, and I'm even more sceptical that it'll be on Zune. 4.7 is the latest version I know of, there might be some linking to Live IDs, or maybe only some devices/LiveIDs get the update.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I also have a GW910 and it also claims to be 100% up-to-date on version 7.0.7003.0
I just wondered if you lot all think that we will even get the update in 2011 at all.
Also... do any of you know what will happen regarding firmware updates (radio etc)?
I ask because I have a problem here in Luxembourg where my phone loses connection to HTTPS sites after a while. It can still connect to the internet but to anything related to HTTPS (SSL etc).

I think we probably will get an update, there's not much point having developer hardware if we're developing on software that's out of date.
Radio updates etc I'm less sure about, my Taylor says the radio is from August, though the OS is much more recent.
That sounds like an issue with the general OS, and it may be being patched anyway, I'd see if you can submit that as a bug (via Connect) or via the on device feedback mechanism (can't remember how to access it, but I remember it being there).

You need NoDo in order to get Mango, so no. I still have my Panther, I'm just waiting on the next batch of hardware this fall so I can change over.

I found a copy of the ChevronWP7.Updater and was able to update my pre-release LG GW910 build 7004 to NoDo. After I did that I was able to install Mango beta 2.

How did you get to 7004, I can read on my phone that I am on 7003.

Here is how I was able to get Mango installed on my pre-release developer phone (LG GW910).
NOTE: These directions are slightly modified to work as if you were starting from build 7004 (maybe 7003). After I the Chevron update I to install Mango beta 2 but received a 80180048 error. I used the backup that was created to get it back to the state just prior to the Mango update process.
The steps I took starting out with build 7004.
Run the ChevronWP7.Update twice to bring the phone up to build 7390 (NoDo)
Use the "Walshed" Phone support tool to put the device in a state where it can receive official updates - http://blog.walshie.me/walshed-phone-support-tool-official-fix-to-get-you-back-on-track
Be sure to follow the instructions and select ALL of the languages the keyboard supports.
Then following the Mango beta 2 installation instructions.
Mango beta 2 should install without any issues.
IMPORTANT: Uninstalling the Zune software will DELETE your backup. I created a RAR archive of the backup but kept it in the same folder and everything was wiped out.

Hello,
I have tried what you say, but sadly the ChevronWP7.unlocker doesn't seem to work.
I get the Black screen where is asks what language, and whatever I select the screen simply closes.
What OS did you use? Was it a 64bit OS or 32bit OS?
I want to try it again, but at the moment I am stuck.

If you have tried it, disconnect your phone, reboot it, then connect it and wait for Windows to tell you the device has been correctly installed (if that hasn't happened yet). Then try ChevronWP7.Update again.
I used the 64-bit version. I'll find and post the link I used to download the app.

There seems to be a misunderstanding in your communication. It seems as if you had a Panther that already HAD 7004 loaded on to it, which allowed you to updated all the way to post-Nodo.
There is currently no way possible for the Chevron Updater to bring a 7003 Panther up to 7004. Useless Guy even opened up the source code and tried to force the program into update his device and it did not work.

I am sorry if I did not communicate that correctly. Yes, I started with a Panther which already had build 7004 on it.

Anything evidently new / better? My existing Kies setup is working fine finally and don't want to disturb it unless there is something interesting in the new release.

Will the Kies hack software still work with this? BTW not only is 2.3 out but Gingerbread 2.4 has also now been seen in the wild so it would be fun to still be able to access the Test Mode

just less bloated. appears to be more user friendly ( not hard! )
not a massive difference so if yours is working i wouldnt bother switching. knowing samsung it would probably break somehow!!

They did this with Original Kies remember so we could update to JPO

I only know of 2.3 on nexus x. If 2.3 was released on Sgs i would be on it already! :-D
So does kies 2 give any special reason to use it? I haven't used kies much at all.

Kies 2.0 looks like a Linux-Version of iTunes. Testing ...
Cool stuff. Much better as prior Versions. RAM usage is big but it's a much better GUI but not Windows7 like.

Can you connect your SGS with Kies 2? If yes, do you have original stock firmware(without root, lagfix or whatever)?

Kies 2 Does not support the reg hack.
Time to update the Kies Registry Patcher 1.7.0.0,
Interface is super lot of interface change. Its good

Works great , and lol. In the video guide when you check firmware upgrade Galaxy S is the example and it upgrades to jm1 , lol'ed

Yes, I have stock firmware (Bell, Canada, JL2), no root, no lagfix.

Is it twice as crappy?

Just istalled and it works.
Anyway it prompts me to do a firmware upgrade (DBT code) even if i am on the same firmware it prompts me to upgrade to (JPO). Is Anyone experiencing this?
Even when using check FUS on android market it shows me JPO but with 5 Jan 2011 Date, when previously was 5 Nov 2010, anyone has some info about this?

@titorez I have this issue too. I'm from Poland but I have Germany product code. After I click Update it automatically disconnects the phone and fail. Even if I try to save my contacts on PC it fails.

Took some messing around, had to reconnect to the VPN and untick the check box after 5 seconds of update searching.
But then it found the update

How did you do this can you give me steps I also have an at&T focus.. I would like to get nodo and not lose any of my sideloaded apps.

It took me over 50 tries.
I was getting the "Phone up to date message" at 28 seconds. I turned off data at 10 seconds and got the update

So you followed the steps in the OP and now you have nodo and it's unlocked? I assume you did chevron unlock and install the samsungtools to keep it from relocking.. did you do anything else?

This is great news, but is this version of NoDo optimized for U.S. handsets?

NoDo is NoDo. The update is specifically tailored for Foruses (or is it Foci), so it shouldn't matter. Realistically, they all should run equivocally. The question that remains is, did it really work, or is this guy pulling our leg such that we try and recreate what he did over and over again with no success. Being the overzealous techie I am, I will try this out...

I can confirm it works, I was just prompted for the update, I'm just hesitant to pull the trigger on it because I don't want it to update to a (I'm assuming) european radio firmware that kills by battery/gives me ****ty reception.

Forget the op instructions. Just follow the chev unlock, Samsung tools, and Samsung registry to brand your phone from att-us to 000-88. Zune will prompt you to update to release 7008. After that it will frompt you for nodo. I did nothing in the op. After I updated I rebranded to att and all is well.

Easy Way of getting NoDo with Zune

I have HTC Surround on ATT and now have Unlocked NoDo. This is what I did and it's pretty simple.
1. Unlock your phone.
2. Debrand your phone.
3. Optional* install Prevent-ReLock App.
4. Turn off Data Connection
5. Turn on Wi-Fi
6. Connect device to Zune
7. This is important - Manually look on Zune for any updates - it will say February Update is availabe. Run that update.
8. After Feb. Update do not disconnect phone and Manually look on Zune for update again. March Update should show up. Run that update.
9. You are done
I can only say that this worked on my Surround, but I gotta believe that this should work for everyone if they follow these steps. This is a whole lot easier than trying to connect to some phone connection in Hungary.
I have heard from other members using different devices getting succesful results.
I did this on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit.
Please post your PC Specs, Device and Carrier when trying this.
Good luck and of course I'm not responsible for any damages.

For those of us with Samsung Focus and running Windows XP, unlocking and unbranding is the first hurdle. We need a solution that does not include Chevron, I believe.

I mean, really... I only did it to see if I could... I really don't see any advantages yet... copy and paste feels kind of clunky.
You can only copy whole text messages, not small portions.
My initial impressions of NoDo... meh.

Follow the directions above TO THE 'T"... and you shouldn't have a single issue. You're missing a step somewhere.

Please post your PC Specs, Device and Carrier. Are you Unlocked and Debranded? How far did you get in the process?

Well I managed to get the Feburary update but it just keeps telling me I am up to date wit 7008. Wish I could get the march update but I guess I have to wait.
PC is Win 7 ultimate 64 bit. Samsung Focus and AT&T

Try shutting down Zune, unplugging, and redoing the process all over again.

Was Data Connection turned off? Were you on Wifi? Did you try another Manual Update? I've gotten more successes on Samsung Focus then any other Devices. If you got Pre-NoDo you're definitely Unlocked and Debranded from ATT. Trying to root out causes.

Same thing is happening to me.
I got an HTC Surround, ATT, and Win 7 Professional 64 Bit. I'll keep trying every day until I get it, hopefully it's before ATT rolls it out haha.

Now i have update my hd7 width o2 branding its work
1. Start Zune
2. Turn off Data connection and Wifi on the Phone
3. Connect the Phone with the PC (USB)
4. Start the update search in Zune
5. About 3 seconds later, disconnect your PC from the internet (Turn WLAN off).
6. Zune finds NoDo-Update. Press OK.
7. Connect to the internet again and install the update.

After ~15 times succeeded!

Debranding is definitely a step that has to be taken. It is different from Unlocking. Please search XDA for Debranding WP7.

There seems to be an inconsistency in whether WiFi should be turned on or off. It worked for me having WiFi on, which makes sense that the Device would have an internet connection with out being on the Carrier's Network. Also, turning off the PC's Internet Connection doesn't make sense either. Probably needs more investigation.

DEBRANDED feb update installed

i couldnt get the march update until i turned off my PC's WiFi, weird but those steps r working, had wifi on phone on and cellular data/3g off

for march update, had to turn off wifi ON MY PC literally after 5 seconds of searching and notification came up as promised by author!

7740 on ATT

Well I have 2 Samsung Focus (1st gen) , both dev unlocked , interop unlocked , except they had different firmware revisions , my phone i dont remember what the one on my wifes was , but her phone didnt sync with zune , so I changed the settings via diag , rebooted and it found the 7740 update immediately and installed it!
My phone has this FW 2103.11.8.1 (both phones had OS 7.10.7720.68) , my focus wont find the update , not sure exactly what the real difference is , i hear exchange is one ,maybe battery, , as fas ATT goes its there !
I wouldnt pester the ATT stores as they dont even know what a WP7 phone is , they only know what iphones are and its limited in that knowledge!
I could force update through cab sender but I dont think its anything of a real update

I wouldnt pester the ATT stores as they dont even know what a WP7 phone is , they only know what iphones are and its limited in that knowledge!

Might be something to do with hardware revision. What is yours and hers?

LG Quantum here on ATT-US. They have not rolled out the 7740 update for us. I installed mine using heathcliff's method. My wife's still has 7720 and when I check for updates there aren't any. Typical ATT lameness.
