Download darkside superwipe and darkside cachewipe for use with cwm recovery. Should be in tdj's rom thread. Read op in that thread, reread that op. Boot to recovery go to backup and restore and make a nandroid backup, then install your zips:
Darkside superwipe
Radio
Rom
Reboot- don't touch anything for at least ten minutes
Reboot again and enjoy
If the rom acts up boot to recovery flash darkside CACHEWIPE, not the superwipe. I usually do it after getting rom all set up.
Any trouble during flashing (ie.. bad rom download and not wanting to boot) superwipe then restore your nandroid. Enjoy the power of samsung

If your coming from aokp or cm9 then you can just flash over with darkside cache wipe, rom, gapps, reboot. But if your coming from darkside you can't flash chimera, it has to be a complete wipe and flash.

Flash in recovery like your doing a Rom but no superwipe.
Boot to recovery
Flash radio ( ics radio, or a modified gb radio that's had rils removed)
Flash darkside CACHEwipe.
Good to go. Some radios will show unknown under baseband in about phone. If you have service that doesn't matter.

I tried flashing that but couldn't get any data or cell service. I liked it though, except for the wifi only part
If you aren't getting WiFi or data you might want to flash radios.
Apparently I'm not allowed to post links until I reach 10 posts.
But you can find it by search in droidhive. It seems droidth3ory is highly revered.

I've run Vicious 4.1.0 V3, JellyBelly 3.5, and now XenonHD. All three have been fully functional for me with the exception of a few glitches with Xenon, but those are really minor (but i cant yet post in the development thread to point them out). JellyBelly and Xenon are both super fast, but to be fair, I havent tried the most up to date Vicious. I think you'll be happy with any of the three.
Make sure you do a factory reset, wipe the cache partition, and wipe the dalvik cache in recovery before flashing the rom and gapps. Then be sure to do advanced -> fix permissions in recovery.

Also, with JellyBelly, I had to flash the 4.0.4 baseband which helped tremendously with signal strength.

In fact some roms have issues when you wipe before a flash, take captainmorgan's miui port as an example, some of us had nothing but issues related to wiping everything first lol, its hit or miss on that so most definitely check the op for all your flashing info needs

i just picked up an e4gt today, i had one back in december that i rooted then sold. so im back and now there's a ton of stuff out there for this phone.
i just came over from the evo design where there is pretty much nothing happening, and before that i had an evo shift. i had cm7 installed on that and loved it.
so what rom do you guys suggest i use? i see there is cm9 available in alpha form, which has me very tempted.
im looking for a stable rom with no bloatware. and id love some advice.

Go with cm9 that darchstar has posted. It works great and I use it as my daily. After you do the base install I recommend nightly 7/24 and using the chris41g kernel b3 version with it. Great battery life and full functionality.

Does cm9 wipe out cwm?
I'm paranoid to do anything without an option for recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Here is your safest bet (as in super safe):
1. Download the el26 safe cwm kernel from the kernel repository in the sticky for this phone
2. Download cm9 6 and gapps
3. Follow cm9 6 download instructions
4. Let it boot
5. Use mobile Odin if you have it (highly recommend as it makes flashing so easy) and flash the el26 kernel that you downloaded in the kernel section from external sd...always check md5 sum first!
6. Once u see the blue light on ur phone in the LED, hold power+volume up to boot into recovery, once the sgs2 logo shows you can lay off the buttons
7. If you didn't do it in time or held too long, just pull the battery and go to recovery via power+volume up
8. You should be in cwm, flash the nightly of cm9, clear dalvik and cache, then flash the chris 41g b3 kernel and reboot
9. Enjoy
10. From this point forward you have a bomb rom and working recovery that will allow backup/nand/flashing safely.

Start with thread #1 on the attached link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625535
To Install
Boot to recovery
Make an NAND Backup
Wipe the phone (with the Format All X2 script)
Flash Part 1
Boot the phone
Go to the updater (Under put things back to stock) and install Part 2 (Two part install is to finish theming Talk)
Reboot and Enjoy
When I did this I went to CWM to flash this through odin. Rom works very smooth. There is a ton of information in the thread but that should get you started.
I am kind of a newbie but wanting to flash this rom. Do I need to start with Alpha 1 and then flash each one after or can I just flash Alpha 5.3?

Do exactly what the Dev told you in his post. Install a Safe kernal. DL your file put it on your device. make a backup. do a full wipe(usually calikulin's wipe all is perfect) now flash new rom. flash different kernal(unless it tells you not to) if you desire and then flash your modem if its not there. If you have no idea what you are doing. READ READ READ. Ive done a decent amount of flashing over the past 2 years and i still read tons of posts to include the first couple pages and the last couple pages.
That rom will also have bugs and isn't complete since he is still working on porting everything over from JB.
No you don't. The only think you have to worry about is being on a safe recovery. Agats kernel has a safe recovery included. The kuban kernel also includes a safe recovery as well. (included to prevent confusion) The reason why you need a safe recovery is because in the past people have bricked their phones when wiping data. You could also use the el26/29 kernel packed with clockworkmod recovery v5 to be extra safe. Once you enter recovery mode with a safe recovery or cwm5 all you have to do is wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache and you should be fine to flash cm10. You don't have to flash older versions because the newer ones have everything the older ones have. They also have bug fixes. There is no reason to flash alpha 1, 2, ect unless you just want to see how it works.
Just flash the latest version.

What version did you flash? If it was a nightly I wouldn't be too worried about it cause sometimes they work and sometimes they have bugs because they sometimes contain experimental code. Also try toggling airplane mode and see if that helps.

I'm no expert but I don't think the first thing you flash should be the radio. Wipe everything again, then flash the ROM then gapps, then reboot and see what happens. I really don't think there's a reason to flash a radio unless you have bad reception personally.
