Hello! I should buy the One X in a few days. There are some things stopping me from buying it though.
1): The battery is 1800MAh,and that lets me think battery life is not so good. Can you guys confirm? Also, the One X battery is Li-Po,so my question now is:
Li-Po 1800MAh > Li-Ion 2100MAh (Galaxy S3 battery)?
2) Battery is not removable. So how will I turn off the phone, for example when it will be stuck in a bootloop?
3) No menu button! Can multitasking be remapped to menu button in Stock or Custom ROMs?
4) Display: Is Super IPS LCD better than SAMOLED (Galaxy S3)?
Thank you in advance, this device is really interesting

Battery life has been great for me but it varies powering down is fine on the 2.0. 5 base you can remap the menu button and I much prefer the one X screen
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
1. Non-issue - it's fine
2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds - it reboots the phone
3. Non-issue - although it's been changed in the new ROM getting released soon (or go custom to get the leaked version)
4. Very much so - my Dad's S3 is crap compared to my One X screen-wise

Thanks! But:
1) I know it's a silly question, but can you guys tell me how much battery lasts?
3) Can I remap the multitasking button to menu button into Custom ROMs,or I don't need to?
Also, browser lags on Stock ROM,are these lags gone on custom ROMs?
Thanks again

i can go a day or two without putting the phone on charge and over the last two charge cycles i got about 4hrs screen on time.
yes you can remap the multitasking button on a custom rom..PKMN rom has that feature as far as i know.
browser i do not use stock browser i use chrome or maxthon and no lags what so ever
Ok.. getting more convinced about this device right now. I should buy it tomorrow.
I heard that camera has got a low framerate. I can tell just by looking at this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAJZZlQ8xkw
Is this lag fixed into custom ROMs,for example ARHD 7.1.0 or CyanogenMod 9/AOKP? This would be very annoying to me

Li-Po and Li-Ion having almost same attributes, Li-Po was little stable while discharging and can be reshape after manufactured. That is why it is often to be used on un-swappable battery solutions, vice versa.
3) I found out I'm used it more and more frequent now.
4) Display: yes, I love new technology like AMOLED but it isn't that mature as LCD. Screen on GS3 is exactly enlarge version of itself on G Nexus, and you will spot the diffefences in 1 second.
Thanks for the replies everyone
Keep in mind,I'll have to keep this device for two years minimum,so I wanna make sure all technologies used in this phone are "up-to-date".
I think Galaxy S3's Exynos Quad is better. It has got a 32nm constitution while the Tegra 3 has got a 40nm one.
Tegra 3 has got a Variable Symmetrical Multi-Processing (vSMP)where all cores run at a same speed; Exynos has got a aSMP (Asymmetrical Multi-Processing) where the four cores can run at a variable speed according to how much work they have to do.
The companion core of the Tegra 3 is obviously power-saving,but it has only got a 500MHz frequency,so it is not kinda enough,I don't know.
Also check this. As I said I will keep this phone for a really long time, and when Tegra 4 games will be out will Tegra 3 be able to run them? Also,a lot of things have to get optimized for Tegra 3(see kernel 3.0),but everything can run as it is on Exynos.
Just exposing my ideas,I'm not here to say the One X is worse,so no "don't like the device? gtfo" please,I need to decide which to pick.
Also, can anyone give me a video sample of recording on CM9 or ARHD please
Anyone?
Since the body/looks of the device don't concern you, its down to two things I think:
1)Tegra Games: If Tegra 3 powered games are really important then definitely go for the the HOX no questions asked. And like you said yourself, when tegra4 comes out there might be games that require a tegra4 processor. But there is no solid news on when tegra4 comes out so tegra3 is the best deal when it comes to mobile gaming as of now.
2)Processor:I won't say whats better, have a look at the benchmark comparison that gsmarena.com has done http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii_vs_htc_one_x-review-759p4.php
The companion core from what I can figure is what gives the Int. HOX awesome standby battery times.
Let me explain something this phone costs a lot,so I need to keep it for at least two years. Since I have to keep it for a lot,I need a durable processor. I think next tegra will be available in just some months, while next Exynos will be available much more later,I don't know maybe it's just me. I just need a processor I can keep and use for 2 years.
For example the LG Optimus Dual (Tegra 2) was released just a year ago,and I am not sure it can play smoothly new games now.
Just my two cents, don't be mad at me I just wanna know what you think about my thoughts.
On a different note, anyone can give me a video sample of this device on CM9/AOKP?

to be honest, i think that it's the same with all tech these days, tegra or not.
things get outdated incredibly quickly now, and theyre constantly innovating and creating new features, faster speeds etc.
the tegra 3 will be around for quite some time i think, probably about a year, and by that time, there will be loads of tegra 3 optimized games, and any new tegra 4 ones may well have compatibility for tegra 3 as well (just with lower graphics settings than the t4 - dead trigger is a good example)
Its the sort of climate these days, where if you choose to wait for a device to become cheaper for example, by the time its cheaper theres loads out thats way better anyways and by then of course all the software is designed with the new hardware in mind. you'll never stop waiting! im not doing well at explaining myself but hopefully you get the point.. anyways i think the tegra stuff is much better, as nvidia is pushing for app optimization for tegras, and these will therefore have better graphics, better performance, than the exynos might have with a game/app that isn't optimized.

is it possible / will be possible that the HTC DESIRE will record Video in more than 15 FBS?? maybe in HD quality ?
if no - why is that so ??
and is there any chance that it will get an landscap view on the music player?
thanks a lot...
no. Why? Cuz HTC is a tool. Lots of promises and non kept so far. Go with Samsung galaxy or anything else. Sense is overrated also since I'm already using Launcher pro.

Seems to be more than 15fps on my phone, no laggyness when recording thanks to the Snapdragon CPU
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
never buy a samsung phone.
Touchwiz is ****.
and its made my samsung.
touchwiz may be ****, but you will install Launcher pro on it and it is as smooth if not smoother then Sense and more useful also. Sense has only 3 stupid buttons on the home screen and the right one is completely useless btw.
Not sure what the exact recording fps really is but its in noway a smooth experience. I would guess max 20 fps. Probably less.
what about my other qustians?
should i wait to iPhone 4 or the HTC Desire is better ?
This is really your choice. I never had an Iphone so cant really compare the 2. But I'm almost sure that I will buy an Iphone next time and I'm pretty damn sure that I will never buy another HTC phone again. I may buy an Android again just not from HTC, probably something from samsung.
This part of the forum really isnt much of neutral so asking what to buy here is as good as asking HTC itself if you should buy there phone or from someone else. Same goes for the Iphone forum of course.
Don't listen to this iSheep. And don't buy and iMoneyTaker. Desire is waaay better then iPhone 4, and it's totally incomparable with iPhone 3GS. HTC does good smartphones.
If I'd be you I'd wait for galaxy s coming to your country. Or if you don't want to wait get a desire. Or if you want something for games and don't want to wait get a motorola milestone

If you're really into taking pics/filming with your phone, iPhone 4 is your best bet.

Because sense is the only reason why I got the Desire because it was told that this runs smooth as silk. Well it does, no question about it but the right and third button is completely useless. Adding widgets on the screen? Oh really? Are we doing that like 100 times a day? This button could be much more useful if you could set it to anything else. But compared to Launcher pro which can be downloaded from the Market its totally **** and not even half as useful then LauncherPro. So it doesn't matter which phone to get as you will want Launcher pro on it anyway. The only difference is that my ROM is crapped over with this HTC sense stuff now. Useless garbage on the phone. I could get a clean rom yeah. But I dont feel like rooting just now.
The other thing is. Samsung VS Desire which runs on almost the same spaces.
Yet it can record 720p with 30 fps and it can play Divx out of the box what was only promissed by HTC and never delivered. Why? It has the spaces to support it. But no they will release another phone that will do just that or have they already with EVO? Ah crap. Desire the flag ship is actually a sunk ship.
To be honest? I would go for an iPhone 4 if I didnt have the Desire. But thats just me. For the record: i am a person that is no longer 'on one side'. I just look for the best phone out there.
Now regarding games. If games are important to you, go iPhone 4. Biggest support regarding games, best titles. With the sharp display, A4 chip and Gyroscope (or how the hell you spell it) you will get the best gaming experience. NO DISCUSSION.
Ok. If a good camera is important to you, go iPhone 4. It has one of the best cameras out there. HD recording, very smooth 30fps, very good audio, iMovie to edit your clips etc.
If notifications, multitasking are important to you: HTC Desire. The Desire also has a slightly larger screen, though the resolution is beter on the iPhone 4. Both devices show good colors.
Battery life should be much better on the iPhone 4 as well.
So yeah, my non fanboy advise is this. Look if the iPhone has everything you need. If it does, just buy it. It's a very good device and will be supported for a long time, because it has top notch hardware.
And if you choose the HTC Desire, its a good choice as well. I am very happy with the device.
Good advice there Mark ^

LMAO so your problem with sense is a button you don't like to use... I don't have these three buttons that are making your life a misery, my phone is unbranded is that the difference? are they in the middle of the screen at the bottom? I have seen peoples screenies with three screen buttons there, i don't have them
Desire records at 26fps maximum in bright light. reduced to 15fps in dull or low light.

We do see the wildfire 2 will mostly hawe a slightly more powerful CPU a GPU and a better screen resoliution. So waht do you whink if HTC will roll out the Wildfire 2 will you consider buying it over your Wildfire?
If you selected the option Other please state why?
Overtime the spec will getting better, many phone in the market with the same price has better spec than Wildfire now, but I think after my phone I'll choose a higher-end phone :_
I'm keeping my wildfire for a while, when I do buy a new phone I'm getting a top-of-the-line one
hopefully a nexus or something
I think many user choose the way: buy one mid-end to get into Android and then pick a higher-end, like me .
Waiting for some 2-core processor this year or maybe next
While I won't be upgrading so soon, as I stated in another thread, the wildfire 2 is everything the wildfire 1 should have been in the first place...

I'm missing something here. My first smartphone was a Samsung Galaxy S. Just after, I became curious about the HTC Desire but couldn't bring myself to get one given I'd just bought the Galaxy S. Then the Nexus S came out and I had to have one of those, so I got it. Gingerbread is nice but I was still curious about HTC Sense. So I decided to buy a cheap Wildfire on eBay. After a while I realised HTC Sense was rubbish and was about to go back to the Nexus S (both it and the Galaxy S are still in my top drawer) when I stumbled on CyanogenMod. I've flashed a number of different ROMs since then and I can't put my Wildfire down.
I know I've got two high-end smartphones but I love my Wildfire so much that I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please, someone tell me why I should be using the Galaxy or the Nexus as I'm worried I'm actually missing out on something.

Indeed I chose the wildfire to see what android was about and it hasn't disappointed, even makes me think why I stuck with Nokia for so long.
As for wildfire 2 I think I'll be skipping it too and go for a higher spec cos the specs are still not impressive to turn experienced users head.
One with front facing camera, something missing on most android phones but present even in cheap Nokia models, would be nice.

I am very pleased with my Wildfire. It delivered more then I expected as instapper Android phone. The next purchase will be a higher end phone with at lest 2gpu/cpu. But for now I am more than happy with my current phone.
I am thinking of getting a HTC desire.
Wildfire 2 is exactly what 1 should have been, a smartphone without GPU was probably the biggest weakness to me. Nevertheless, it is still an excellent phone for those with a budget and want to try out Android.

Have you tried flashing ROM's and experimenting with your other phones? For me, another reason why I prefer the Wildfire is because of its friendly size and handling capabilities, and, comparatively easy pocketability, which is certainly missing from the higher end devices with their 4"+ screens.
Also, I would think that the UI and all is smoother on the top end phones, and, their app and game support is way more enhanced than on the Wildifre. Cant really comment on the smoothness part because havent used one of them ever.
Off Topic, Another thing I fail to understand is why companies think that whoever wants a powerhouse of a phone must grab a huge one with as graceful dimensions as a brick. I would love to see one day 1 GHz Processors, Adreno 205's, 768 MB RAM's etc on a 3.2 - 3.5" screened device. Handling such huge phones is a pain, especially in crowded areas...

Read my mind. Even right now, I wanted to upgrade to a Defy instead of a Desire. Since the Defy is roughly the size of our Wildfire, but the turn off there is that I got spoiled with WF ROMS, Defy has a few, and the Desire a ton.I want the option to use my phone and reach every inch of the screen with one hand. For this I'd still consider the WF 2 if nothing else competes at it's size
Like most people I got the Wildfire as a cheap Android phone to see what it was like after using Nokia for ages. There will probably be a lot of cheaper phones on the market soon after the success of the Wildfire and the San Francisco, even Apple are considering an iPhone of reduced size to compete with the android success

Have a look at that.

As to smoothness, I can say that CM7 on my Wildfire is slightly choppier than the factory Gingerbread on my Nexis S but not enough to be annoying and I haven't noticed any difference in app start up times.
Wildpuzzle is a different matter. There has been no noticeable difference between Wildpuzzle on my Wildfire and Froyo on my Galaxy S. It really has been that good that I'm toying with the idea of going back to it as CM7 doesn't seem to want to agree with me. I just wish I could get hold of a QVGA version of Swype!
On all devices video playback is no different and I don't play games so I can't comment.
I agree with you about good things in small packages. I've also heard Samsung are coming out next month with a smaller version of the Galaxy S but I haven't seen any specs.

It`s nice to see that I`m not the only one that thinks a 4.0 inch screen is too big.
This is one of the reasons I bought the Wildfire, it was the smallest at that time, and still is. Well, now there are phones like the Samsung i5500, but damn, 2 mp camera is so 2004.
I my self wanted the wildfire as my first Android device(like most of you ). But now when MWc 2011 has started im waiting for price drop's of the older phones like the original Desire or something else Thinking is it a good idea to go for a Milestone 2? Looked at their forums and i saw just a few ROM's.
If root is so hard on my wildfire I probably not going to buy another HTC at all.
I'm just anoyed about companies trying to tell me what I can do with their device.
Cause this is how it is now, not mine but theirs.

It is the same with all companies, atleast with what I have seen,
Sony - Controls everything you do on the PS3. Mod it, and you lose ability to even go online, and if you do, they have the ability to automatically install stuff you dont authorize.
Apple - Not really required to specify it, do we?
Nokia - Only the initial Symbian sets were truly open, where you could mod the heck out of it. Unfortunately, it was not so customizable as Android. With the later ones, it had to be "hacked" (As in rooted), to allow modifications, which depended on the firmware.
Can't comment on others simply because I don't own them.
Lastly, the Wildfire is too "unimportant" a device for major teams to work on, when compared to, say, Apple's iDevices. Hence, finding exploits for iDevices may take a week, and the same may take months for the Wildfire. Unfortunately, thats the way the hierarchy exists.
i'd like to have the new screen on my actual wildfire..
i don't want to change it..
the next purchase will be a more powerful
Hi all. I've finally got time to write you people the reason why LWP stop when we touch the screen on HTC ONE X.
People say it's faulty but actually it is made to work like this. Years ago when iphone worked faster and better than other devices it was a real concern that even with low specs sheet why iphone performs faster than any other device in the market. This was an unsolved issue until it was studied and showed and proved that > Whenever you perform a task on your iphone it stops all other background and on screen processes to give you the best performance. When the task is done the processes continue as they were working before.
To enhance the speed and working on HOX the same idea is adopted by HTC and so the LWP stops to give you the best mobile experience.
Looks annoying when LWP stops but it is how it's made to work.
Thanks!

People say it's faulty but actually it is made to work like this. Years ago when iphone worked faster and better than other devices it was a real concern that even with low specs sheet why iphone performs faster than any other device in the market. This was an unsolved issue until a student of University studied and showed and proved that > Whenever you perform a task on your iphone it stops all other background and on screen processes to give you the best performance. When the task is done the processes continue as they were working before.
To enhance the speed and working on HOX the same idea is adopted by HTC and so the LWP stops to give you the best mobile experience.
Looks annoying when LWP stops but it is how it's made to work.
Thanks!

Maybe that is the reason, maybe not - but we hope HTC will 'fix it'.
I for one, refuse to use live wallpapers whilst it acts like this, which is a little disappointing as its an Android feature thats kinda been taken away from me.
I know I can change launchers to fix this, but I don't want that - I actually like sense and the look and feel of its launcher.

I dont think theres any need for the little nasty replies, the guy is trying to help and get involved.

Don't know if HTC intentionally did it or not (IMO this is a bug), but one thing for sure, thats NOT the intended behavior people expect.

So you are saying a quad core 1.5GHz processor cannot handle a LWP while scrolling between home screens ?? Even a single core 1GHz phone from 2 years back can scroll between home screens while animating the wall paper.
And do you think "freezing" the LWP while scrolling gives the best mobile experience ?? I dont think so. LWP smoothness is also a big part of the perceived overall user experience.

This is not how I expected the LWP to be but this is how it is MADE TO WORK intentionally.
I didn't say the phone lags or works slow so they forced it to freeze while performing a task but it's because HTC wanted to provide the smoothness and speed. They cut down sense 4.0 a lot and made this change as well following Apple.
A Quad Core can definitely handle stuff but they provided the users the best mobile experience by disabling the processes when you're doing something. THIS IS INTENTIONALLY PROGRAMMED BY HTC.
I either don't like it because "LIVE" wallpaper isn't of this kind but this is how it is in sense 4.0

i would disagree about being "intended by HTC" while my other single core, dual core HTC can manage LWP without a lag.. how about HTC one S?? no LWP bug there.. how could you explain that it was intended by HTC to do this to their flagship phone.. i absolutely disagree..
maybe driver bug from Nvidia.
Serious dude think before you post ... Do you really think HTC intended to work that way ...

How do you know, and what proof you have?
What is the reason for them to freeze the LWP process especially on a multi-core CPU? It doesn't make any sense at all.
So this is what happens when you try to get involved in a community like this. How disappointing.

My Desire handled LWPs really well. My bro's Sensation too. But sense 3.0 and 3.5 were so much bloated and heavier. HTC cut it down and made their quad core work better. (I'm not saying it's good because I personally hate it but this is how it's working.)
How do you think HTC never acknowledged or solved this when they've already pushed out 3 OTAs. There was noise about LWPs and Multi tasking and HTC came up with an answer of multitasking that it WORKS that way on HTC One X.
It looks bad but doesn't mean it's a bug. A little bit of study on how iphone works would make you understand. Comparing it to the HOX's working will explain everything.
I hope HTC solves this "bug" which isn't really a bug.
PS. Using a 3rd party launcher make LWPs work fine. Means this isn't an NVIDIA related issue. But Sense 4.0 operates in this fashion.

Firstly, there is a thread like this on the forum already. I can't recall where exactly but it links to an ATnT One X working fine with sense and LWP. So this is an issue of compatibility between sense and nvidia maybe?
Guys should take it easy on OP... really.
Also, OP... you should accept it when you can be wrong and make it easier on yourself.

When i spoke to HTC they said they recognize the problem with LWP and will try to fix with future updates,
Why would they say this ?
Like it or not, it is deliberate, I said that weeks ago. HTC might choose to change it, they might not. Personaly I don't care, LWP is a battery drain that I see for a few seconds a day and I have never used it for that reason.
OP has got somewhat harsh comments mainly because how he has decided to word his opinion. starting the post with a statement like

in all caps, are bound to make few users (including myself) annoyed. Especially when OP is not a recognized developer nor someone who has shown to have any experience working with (as in programming or modding) Sense or any launchers for that matter.
Freezing of LWP while scrolling could be how HTC intended it, or it could very well be an unexpected side effect of a performance tweak. I'm more inclined to believe the latter, but in any case if OP started the thread as a discussion presenting his opinion and supporting arguments as his own instead of stating everything as facts I'm sure he would have gotten a much different reaction....
use Apex launcher, aaaand it's gone.

I like the phone's characteristics but I'm concerned about the battery life. Only 2250mAh for eight cores is a bit weak. What do you think?
Do you expect the phone to have any support for the upgrade to Android L or to any other alternative upgrade?
I just purchased this phone.
I think for 102Eur is a great phone. If it have some problems, it isn't the only one. All chinneses phones have problems everywhere. The thing is if it compensates what you paid for it.
I also ordered it. I'm still waiting for it but I hope I won't be dissapointed. I hope that it will have some support (new ROMs, firmware updates etc.), since there has been a lot of interest in preorder period.

I think the official launch is on 9th Oct. We will wait at least two weeks more to put our hands in it.
Elephone p2000 at least seems that has good support and Elephone releases new roms when is needed. Also, every Elephone has been rooted easily, so that's good. Take also into consideration that we're with Android 4.4.2 .. other phones are still with 4.2 or 4.0, so we're updated for a few years with this version.
I think we take a good decision, and believe me, I search the whole internet and this is the best phone I found for this price. :good:
We just have to keep this topic alive, so that we can discuss about the phone once we get it. I already own a chinese phone with MTK6577 and 512MB RAM, Android 4.0 and I've been very satisfied with it. So obviously Elephone g6 should be a big improvement for me. I also like to do some improvements to the phone when possible, that's why I'm hoping for good support.
As far as the price-quality is concerned, I'm sure there is no better phone on the market at the moment. Only the battery still worries me...
Hopefully we'll get it ASAP.

I own a Sony Xperia Neo (1Ghz, 512mb ram, 384mb of memory to apps, 3.7'' and Android 4.0 ... slow as hell!) so this G6 should be a big improvement to me too! the only thing that my Xperia will be better is the camera and flash, so, we will see
The phone should be shipped in 9th, so -2 days!

I would just wait, all the new Chinese models will be a little delayed because of the Chinese national holidays. Not only from Elephone but also from all the other Chinese brands. And I think it is good that they tell the truth, and actually do the tests properly before they ship the phones out to all the end customers. So we don't will be having problems in the end.
I agree, just wait for one more week. If you waited that long, one week isn't that much
I look forward to getting a good product, hopefully well tested and with some suport and updates available in the future.

We hope that the product is at least good, with good support and few updates.
Still no one received the phone?
Myefox delayed shipments without explain nothing... Look for some hands on until place my order!!
Wonder if anyone has received this phone yet I am looking for a budget smartphone to replace my nightmare Samsung Galaxy ace which is getting near the end of its contract.
My situation is I done a google search for a Blackview Crown review- 5inch Octa core Android 4.4 Smartphone 2GB Ram 16GB Rom and found the following thread on this site -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/blackview-crown-review-5inch-octa-core-t2844265
Someone on there said he thought this phone would be better and a few other agreed, however I cant really find much first hand feedback on this phone.
I know nothing about rooting phones I am a basic user who just wants a reasonable smart phone but my existing phone does have a huge amount of bloatware that i dont use so would not like that on a new phone.
Just wanted to keep this thread alive as this phones looks perfect I am in the UK where the cost of this is just over £92 or $150 and using the Three network on the 800MHZ band so was hoping people could give it the thumbs up.
Thanks
Ian

Im about to order a one too. camera certainly looks pretty good. and your input is highly appreciated and valuble. thank you for that first. and also do all of us some more favor, please include your comment on following points,
1. some more camera pics in low light and normal indoor conditions.
2. mobile signal strength, wifi strength compared to your other mobile.
3. and another most importantly, music quality through a good headset and normal speaker strength for ringing.
4. I found some chinese devices have very low earpiece volume. how's it on the g6?
5. And of course how about the battery time.
thank you again and we all are very grateful for your info I think.
I had one for a while, gave it away, even though it's been one and a half years I still miss the damn thing's battery life.
I want to buy one and root/unlock it but I read it's hard to do and all, not sure what to do at this point, I feel like it's a waste of money especially with the Moto G7 Power coming soon.
What is your advice?
Unlocking bootloader is easy but you need to wait 2 weeks after accepting terms. Lenovo solved the issue with thier unlock server. As an poweruser I can tell you this phone have some disadvantages like audio quality (you can literally hear some electrical breakdowns(?) on lower volumes on speaker and headphones (less than on speaker)), camera quality isn't too good either but otherwise this phone is great and worth it. If you wonder about ROM support then I can tell you that P2 is skyrocketing now. You can expect LineageOS 16 soon, probably on day 1 official release of this Lineage iteration if you're interested. Currently it has some 'difficulties' on 15.1 when it comes to installing ROM but we've been told that they are fixed already. These 'difficulties' are related to F2FS so you need to take proper steps to resolve them completely (especially if you want to use Magisk) or just use EXT4 to skip them for now. Personally I can recommend this device.
Running Pie 9.0 with awesome battery life is a reason not to buy any other phone.
12 hours SOT up to 15-20 hours SOT, show me another phone that can do it.
I remember the bad old days of 3-4 hours on my other phones.

I use AccuBattery, too. It's an AMAZING app, purchased the Pro version without even thinking twice. Though I probably wrote my real question poorly, it was meant to be "Which Pie ROM are you using? All the ones I tested have some sort of battery drain issue."
CrDroid, Xtended MSM and Liquidremix have solid idle drain for me and good battery life overall. My battery line is almost horizontal when not in use which is a good sign!
I also recommend using Wakelock Blocker, found on the playstore to block wakelocks.(there are a few guides on xda on which you gotta block without affecting daily usage).
But don't use wakelock blocker on havoc, since it will bootloop on that rom.

No you didn't ask the question poorly, I started answering on the mobile site and then copy&pasted onto Tapatalk so I could post a screenshot easier.

I also seeking around. Umidigi F1 and Asus max M2 are two 5000 mah battery with the same dimensions but bigger screen (LCD).
I don't remember about Lenovo p30 specs.
2 years passed and technology is so fast.
I've been looking at the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 and Umidigi F1. Apart from the large battery (and probably a camera that easily beats P2's mediocre one), IMHO they don't seem to offer such a significant upgrade over our dear P2.
I find it somewhat strange almost 3 years after P2's release.
You could argue that I should get a high-end device for better specs. And I would, but it's hard to give up on such an amazing battery with an unbeatable screen-on time. Just look at GEMarena battery tests - P2 is the champ. [emoji16][emoji123]

There is no comparison between p2 and max m2 other than the battery. M2 has got a much better processor, and moreover it will have a bigger Dev support for custom roms and other tweaking as it's sales is much higher than p2.
I wouldn't select p2 over m2.

I'd rather say just better than much better processor in favour of the M2. Likewise, I wouldn't choose buying P2 over the M2 in 2019. However, I already own a P2 and if I'm going to upgrade it better be worthwhile.
Btw, more I research the more I'm getting Impressed by the Umidigi F1. It has a beautiful display, a huge battery and a decent processor that might even outperform the M2's SD660.

Hope Xiaomi releases a device with InDisplay FP. That's the only way where we can get all -
1. Amoled (because of InDisplay FP)
2. ~4000Mah
3. Great Dev Support.
Fingers crossed.

this is the main reason to keep the P2 and wait for a Xiaomi device with Amoled display with ind-fp + snapdragon 7xx and at least 4000mah support.
Asus m2 has nice specs but the kernel changes that Asus does to their phones is extremely disliked by official los devs. they like to compare it with things you flash down the toilet and they stay far far away from it.
if you want to keep stock. go with it but if you hope for it to get official lineages anytime. stay away from it.
Xiaomi on the other hand does a decent job when it comes to kernel work. they even gave the Xiaomi Mi A1 (tissot) an kernel version upgrade. which is almost never done by any vendor for devices already on the market. the device was shipped with a kernel version 3.18.xx and now it's at 4.9.161.
besides specs I would always consider the software side. software upgrade policy. (Android One)
if you prefer the openess for custom roms. then especially kernel work and support of the vendor. possibility of a closed source driver or fully missing driver that wasn't pushed into the released kernel. for example missing in-display fingerprint drivers in some very recent vendor kernels.
To answer your question, yes, it's still worth!
I'm amazed by the battery life and the community support.
No phone for me has come anywhere near my love with this one, I lost the touch id capabilities due to hardware failure but apart from that, this phone has it all (Amoled, 5000mah, TouchID, support, 5000 mAh...)
Even the weaker camera can be manageable with the right app.
I love my p2, I would buy one again only because of the custom ROMs.
I used to be against cheap Samsung phones but I think the new M20 and M30 are the spiritual successors to P2. Think about it, a 5000 mAh battery, an AMOLED display and an efficient processor for people who are more into media consumption than gaming. They check all the boxes why I love my P2 and I think I might pick one of them up as my next phone since my P2 is getting old.
