Stock Xperia Launcher on r800at not rotating on landscape - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed on pictures of the PLAY that the stock launcher is supposed to be able to support landscape mode. Is it acting odd because im using widgets, or is there something wrong with my launcher
Sent from my R800at using xda premium

Not if you put in the right apn settings.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2

I don't think the Play support '4G', its a buzz word by AT&T, it's really HSPA. And why would an update take away something essential feature which is part of the contract? Also this device is old, you can wait another millennium and AT&T will never update it.
To get the 3G data, in the phone, just go Settings -> Wireless & network -> Mobile networks -> Search providers, and choose the 3G ATT option when it pops up. Then go to Settings -> Xperia -> Internet settings -> Accept, it will automatically install the correct APN for you, you might have to manually select it.
You won't be able to root the stock 2.3.4 version, unless you already have your bootloader unlocked or installed a modified version such as this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591398 . Also the firmware of the R800i works perfectly with the R800at.

WiFi problems 4.0.4

Hey im from UK and I used to be rooted before ics. I used to flash custom roms etc etc. Today I decided to update to ICS via pc companion. I love ics but my WiFi interferes with my computer!
How can I fix this? My WiFi was fine before the update. Cheers

Before in GB was it working well and are you sure that there are no problems with the internet connection?
Try rebooting the device and see if it worked!

Did the reboot work?
I see many of them are complaining about the wifi bug in ICS.. Its a common problem i see.. Wait for Sony to fix the bug but it'll take decades.. A fix should arrive soon though.. I think the problem might be with the baseband!

4g will not work with app store

Is anyone having this issue too? If my 4g is on, i can surf the Web, but now it won't update apps or download them. It stuck on waiting for network, but when i switch to 3g, download starts right away...4g not working for downloading or updating apps.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
It's been posted before in other portions of the thread. Nothing I can do besides the temp fix. Go to setting-manage apps- the find the play market and clear the cache then uninstall the update. You will have to do that every time you re enter the market under 4g
let me guess you are on a GB build possibly with a ICS modem? if so then you need to choose either one or the other. i was having the same problem recently and thats how i fixed it.

Guess again. I work for Sprint and brand new, never before touched phones are doing this out of the box.
But I have no idea why.

It seems 4g falls asleep on the job sometimes and hits the snooze button on the alarm clock.

Yes your correct there is no real fix until they update the market again. or if you flash a ROM with a new Ics market then it should work fine.

Don't know about that. I haven't used it yet, but I'd guess it needs location services turned on to work. I'm guessing this thing will probably use a bit more battery over those that manage the things manually.

No, this thing uses an algorithm called aerial triangulation with GSM signal.

Works great, but doesn't actually turn WiFi back off when not within range. I let my phone sit for about 30 minutes and WiFi was still switched on. Oh well. Thanks for the post though.

Should be a new setting under wifi.

So strange about Sony firmware. Every firmwares are different. One would think all the apk in the firmware would be the same on the same OS.
Anyway... I like sony design and that was why I bought them
I'm gonna try this out, I am worried about battery use. I'll keep an eye on it for a few days and report back.
I found it as a shortcut. Don't remember seeing anything in the WiFi setting.
Thanks

I've installed on my MIUI ROM and it doesn't show up anywhere. I'll have to test when I switch back to stock.
You have to setup the app and switch it on after installing it. The settings can be found in Settings -> More -> Location based wi-fi. Once you set it up it switches off the WiFi connection as you get out of reach from the the router.

Right, but this does not appear in the MIUI'd settings for some reason.

[Q] Is flashing wrong firmware can cause screen problem?

hi, i have flashed wrong firmware on my R800i. Flashing gets stuck when trying to reflash a right firmware...when i got recovery back, everything goes well. But, there is 1 problem detected..the bottom left corner of my screen becomes unresponsive to touch or difficult to respon. This problem was never happens before, and my phone has no falls during the period. Is error firmware can causes screen problem?
sorry for my bad english
Now sounds like your phone's software is fine but your hardware is going out

Yes. It can cause screen problem if you used the wrong firmware. Speaking from experience on xperia plays.
Thanks, the sound gives me a hope..so, what is your solution?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
No. It is your digitiser spoilt. I had it on my play as well. Go to the repair store to fix or take it apart yourself if you want to fix it yourself.

Well, I flashed eXistenz v2 JB custom ROM but the 2G issue is not resolved. Though it's not as worse as it was in the official Sony JB firmware, 2G still goes into dormant mode sometimes.
What's puzzling me is, 2G worked seamlessly on ICS and it still works that way when you roll back (yeah, I tested this); Bobber says baseband is not the issue, then what the heck is causing this?
Insights requested from anyone who can help. I am ready to experiment, in fact I am posting this after I did a lot of that.
P.S.: Bobber, please share how to flash ICS baseband on JB. I'll try that nevertheless.
