[Q] Does anyone knows how to make any launcher as default launcher?

My choices of launcher :
-ADWLauncher EX
-Zeam Launcher
-LauncherPro Plus
Anybody knows how to make any of these as default one instead of TouchWiz? I mean that to uninstall the TouchWiz and replace it with the above launchers, totally.

Download Home Switcher from the Market, start it and set whatever launcher you want as default (I suggest Zeam because it's extremely lightweight).
Download Titanium Backup from the Market (requires root access), start it and uninstall TwLauncher.apk

each launcher will ''ask'' if it can be the default ...

When you press home button a dialog box does appear and ask you which you want.

Try out Nemus Launcher, its the fastest among others.

Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Apps/All.......
Tap Launcher pro ......
Tap Clear Defaults.....
You will be prompted for Launcher Selection......

See, only thing you have to make sure is, when you delete TWlauncher, you have to have atleast one Launcher installed. Otherwise your phone might end in a bootloop or other problems occure.
You don't need necessarily a HomeSwitcher. Just go to Settings->Application->Manage Applications->All->select your current default launcher->clear defaults
Now if you hit the Home-Button it will ask you to choose the default launcher for the home-button. It will ask you once again if you restart which launcher to choose.

Alright thanks man!
Btw, to make any launcher my default launcher, i DO NOT have to put the .apk of the specific launcher into /system/app and change the permissions etc, right?

otherwise d/l any alternative launcher would be a nightmare, specially for noobs
and BTW, follow THE-E's advice, it is v. good!!!

Hi..if u want a hardcore way,using a root explorer,just replace that touchwiz.apk(delete touchwiz) at /system/app..u can find ur user app in /data/app..in there,u will find ur installed launcher from market..before that,mount system to read/write instead of read/only..and after that reboot..
Or u also can do this.before u want to flash a particular rom..unzip the rom,do what I say with above way..re-zip and flash.
With This way,it give u more experience about how ur system works and lets u know more..and it teaching u...but don't be too optimistic for what u doing...it can mess up ur device if u don't know what are u doing..always be aware..
Its just my suggestions...
I'm not guarantee ur phone will not crash..follow the-e and irishpankke advice If u want a safe-mode way

my suggestion is you can download any home launcher switcher/manager app from the Market, that way, it will be easy for you to switch to a different launcher if you grew tired of you default one.
first time you install a new launcher and you pressed the home button, it will ask you what default launcher you prefer.

So what is more reliable and safest? Method 1 or Method 2 eh?
I have tried Method 1 actually and screen blanks after rebooting except there is time, battery and signal level.

Can I just ask what you are trying to achieve here??
Is it just the Launcher?
or is it the TW integration in the ROM, as I don't think we have a ROM yet yet which entirely strips out the TW integration.......perhaps you are working on one??
If it is just the Launcher, you can just make whatever launcher you require default, by any of the methods explained above, my manual method, or the home launcher switcher.....
but TW Launcher is not stripped out here, you could freeze it with TB or Gemini.
I just think it is safer to wait for CM 7, which will not have any trace of TW!!!

It's impossible to root out TouchWiz without modifying the Samsung source code to remove and replace it; it's heavily embedded in the OS. This would be a massive effort and I don't believe anyone's done it. The only alternative is a ROM built from stock in the first place, such as Cyanogen as Ryan mentioned.

I just wanna achieve the launcher actually. Hehe. I just don't like the TouchWiz, that's it. So i thought anyone knows how to remove it totally and integrate other launchers like Zeam, LauncherPro and more. But i think i just need to do the easiest way which is when i press home button, i'll set it as default and done. Thanks anyways! Sorry for my continuous questions, i just need confirmations.

Guys, i have done it. I used LauncherPro before. I went to 'manage applications' and selected LauncherPro and clicked 'clear defaults. Then i installed Launcher 7 and pressed 'set as default'. Then i uninstalled LauncherPro and reboot my phone. Voila! My launcher is now and ever the Launcher 7. Thanks guys for the superb tips with the details! Good day!

[Q] Backup/Restore Trebuchet Launcher

Is there a way to backup/restore the Trebuchet Launcher on CM9 Kang? I apologize in advance if there's a thread on this already but I tried searching and couldn't find anything.
I understand that when you flash CM9 Kang's ROM everytime, "winner" wants you to erase data under Trebuchet on the applications sub-menu in settings. I just don't want to have to constantly re-do my screens to put the apps/folders/widgets where I want them to be.

Oh well forgot to add that thanks for reminding me!

the no keyboard thing is pretty strange. Try wiping and flashing again. Double wipe if you are using cwm.

I have not try your rom till now. If keyboard apps was included during pack, it must be there. If if is not still visible, it can be reinstall.

Hello dude i have only one Suggestion when this ROM is nonSense i mean will be awesome here we to have ONE just Latest BASE ROM without Anything what i mean is that if u can Make a PURE ROM without GO Louncher without GO Locker without Delphin without etc
Just simple cooked NO FRILLS and Link2SD this is enought and after flash everyone can decide what louncher and locker and keyboard combination to use

First of yes what you are talking about is AOSP. That will be something more similar to CM7. Which will ultimately mean worse rom then a sense based ROM. I wont go in details but judging from what i see in CM7 AOSP is not such a good option. If you mean a sense based rom w/o go launcher but rather something else that could be done with aroma instaler so you can chose prior to the instalation. That would be a nice idea to pitch to benjamin he is the one thats doing that kind of things.
Alternativly you can get systemcleanup app and deleat all that you dont like install what you like from google play and push it to system again with systemcleanup. Thats how i did it before i started building for other ppl .

BUt like this is with removed all Sense things also to be alot more cleaner even without GO launcher and etc and Dolphin all this things u can Download later and choice what u want
What i mean is that the ROM must to be so clean she just to be able to boot start and u to have the tools nessasery for the overclock and some keyboard just to do the seettings at the 1st boot then YOu can even change the keyboard and whatever u want and download all APPS u need to have on your device !
I think that only Link2SD and NO FRILLS are the things that we all MUST HAVE item in the device of course we also can download them too
Why im asking for this is because will be ONE PURE Base for everyone who want to tune and use his device whatever he/she wants
Of course now i can flash it and leter to remove the things by myself manualy BUt all things somehow leave a trace in the device and just Pure ROM will be always on the TOP because if its made from the latest GB Build the ROM will be good start. And everyone who wana use launchers or whatever will choice this ROM like a BASE

What you dont understand is that w/o go launcher and sense you cant operate the phone. It will boot you will unlock and you wont be able to reach settings or whatever You can download open the zip navigate to system/app deleate whatever you dont like and try to boot it takes like 5 min.

PC Connection doesn't work ;x There is no list of connections in notification bar when USB is connected to PC. Any solution?

Please do it as fast as you can, because this ROM is awesome! I use it with LauncherPro and it's fast as hell, and broken PC Connection is the only issue.

Actualy i was thinking of making v2 with that fixed up and launcher moved to data so its easyer for novice user to remove it and switch to another one as ppl are not quite happy with go launcher as it may seem. Unfortunatly i lost all my data so i ll have to gather my resources anew so that might take some time.

[Q] Stock contacts widget

Hey guys, a fellow noob here so please forgive me for the following question but..
I've rooted my phone recently and flashed Aurora to remove the bloatware.. it also removed some widgets along with it, including the contacts widget. Is it possible to restore the widget through Aurora or any other means and what do I have to do if I can do so?
I've got the Nandroid backup ofcourse, but I'd rather not get everything back again, just get this one particular widget only.

I asked it because i know Aurora from other phones and not on the hox
you can download a "stock" custom rom and copy out the contactwidget.apk out of the rom and copy it to your phone, then with es file explorer activate root function and copy it to the system\app folder of your phone. Restart and/or clear HTCsense cache and see if its back

I'm going to do just that. Back with results within minutes.. cheers :good:

But check the rom version is the same, match the version you are running, so take the apk from a 2.17 Rom if you are on a 2.17 rom. If you are on JB you need to download a 3.14 version

[Q] Sense widgets wildfire S

Hi everybody,
I have a question about custom ROM... Like I said in a previous post, I'm on HenseMod7 Stock ROM. I like this ROM, but I would like to know if it's possible to retrieve the originals Sense widget I had before install the custom ROM. I saw here : Removed all sense widgets except clock, for replacements, download "widgets" attachment, but I didn't saw a widget attachment on the post or on all folder in the download link...
So, can everyone tell me if there is possible ?
For information I did a clockworkmod recovery backup of my original ROM.

You can download fancy widgets from play store for free. When you select 4X2 widget you get by default the htc clock widget.

He removed that attachment a long time ago....You may be able to put install the widgets by the "Extract from nandroid" option in Titanium Backup or from AppExtractor,provided you have not used link2sd or any data2sd scripts in your backup of the original rom
