what can you do with a tablet that you can't do with a phone?

The opening question.
Also the Galaxy s3 is great in that it is easily unlockable, rootable, has great support and battery life. What's the modern tablet equivalent of it? What should I look at in a good tablet coming from the xda community?
I own a nexus 7 tablet, although it is an awesome device, I find it a little small and not worth having since I have my s3. The nexus 10 is a better option in my opinion.
The nexus 10 will have a better internet experience because of the bigger screen, and generally all apps will be nicer on it (if they support tablets).
So, at the end of the day, before you purchase a tablet, make sure you need it, and make sure you get a proper size!

As above poster said, bigger size is better. I have touchpad and I use it a lot for Netflix and videos. Playing few games is also better on a bigger screen. I like gmail app on tablet more then on the phone.....
7inch tablet is kinda waste of money if you have 4.8" phone...
You can more easily murder someone (in self-defense) with a tablet...
And... Hmmm.... yeah.

For gaming I think the Nexus 7 is a perfect fit. I have a 4.8", 7", and 10.1" tab and playing a game like a FPS is far easier on the 7" imo. The only games I found to play better on a 10" is Fifa or Madden.
Videos are better on a 10.1, easier viewing and though web browsing has more real estate on 10, I found that I'm ok on all 3 screens.
My wife has the Nexus 7 and loves it. She reads a lot on it though, sort of an ereader substitute. And now with Google's Play Magazine... she barely talks to me, which can be a good thing
I have a Note 10.1, and for my purposes its great, be it movies, games, productivity (that's a big one for me). I do lots of design review for construction, so I'm constantly marking up pdf's with my Note.
And my S3 is just plane fun. Custom roms, tweaks, etc. So it depends on what you think you would need.

yeah i thought about readibility too...that would be my main thing but to be honest i played with my cousins ipad today and I wasn't too impressed with the video quality.
also fps? seriously....pc anyone? how good can android games get? I haven't seen a memorable or creative video game after the GTurismo and MGS series
I have an iPad so that I can stay verse in both worlds of technology. I enjoy having the newest latest and greatest tweaks for each device. I use my iPad at school for notes and all that stuff. I've been debating on getting an Asus Tf300t because if the neat keyboard with touchpad attachment though, very nice. And the 32 gig nexus 7 is a contender as well. I do love using my s3 much more than my iPad though. It feels sluggish in comparison, but it does look nice aesthetically.
Tl;Dr
iPad for notes, Netflix, crunchyroll and sometimes music. Can do power points and such but I'd rather use my laptop.
S3 for my powerhouse device. Does everything I need it to. Music, talk, text, movies occasionally because of more space.
I have the Transformer Prime, which completely destroys pretty much any tablet in productivity (excluding other Transformer models).

I have a nexus 7 is a great tablet for 200$. I find it a little faster than my gs3, especially if I over clock it to 1.5 ghz.
Whenever I use my gs3 right after looking at my tablet, colors look ridiculously saturated on the super amoled vs the lcd

i have a SG3 and a SGT10.1...
i have a SG3 and a SGT10.1 and only can say i only use my tab from my job, i´m sunglasses deller and i show the products on it.
In my oppinion, if you have a GOOD mobile phone PLEASE don´t buy a TAB because you will lost your money
PD: Sorry for my bad english! :cyclops:
I returned my tablet cause just didn't need it or use it enough. My phone does it all. Sure the screen is a little small but that's why I'm thinking of getting the note 2. Played with it and looks really good. Phone and tablet all in one. Can't beat that.

Generally speaking I use my Nexus 7 from web browsing, games to watching videos. Watching videos is better on 7 inch screen than lets say 4.2 or 4.8 inch etc. My N7 is more of an extension to my SGSIII.
I am not sure how it will fair with my GNote 2 (that I will be getting in a month).
I too stream a lot of movies/videos from my computer thats and more comfortable kindle are my only impetus

[Q] Anyone got a note 2 AND a small tablet ?

After having my first gen galaxy note I thought that tablets are some useless overpriced gadgets. Surprisingly my note (and now note 2) ended up being my main media consumption device (I barely touch my laptop other than some school stuff). Being a heavy user, I'm starting to feel a little bit cramped with the note. Yes I said it, the note is too small. :what: So I'm planning to buy a real tablet. 10" tablets look nice but everyone seems to be complaining about them being too heavy for extended usage so smaller tablets now look a little bit more appealing. I'm just afraid of ending up not using one of the devices at all. The idea of selling the note and replacing it with a smaller phone coupled to a small tablet crossed my mind but there's no other phone that appeals that much to me right now (mainly because of the battery). If I'll get a small tablet it's going to be an iPad mini which is a 7.9" so there's 2.4" difference between the 2 devices, but is that enough?
Anyone got an iPad mini/nexus 7/galaxy tab 7.7 and a note 2? How are you using both devices?

Im probably getting the nexus 10. Small tablets are kinda useless, since there is only a small increase in screen size.
Just my opinion.

I have note2 and note10.1... perfect combination in my opinion. 10.1 is just as great as note2 , though it doesnt have JB, yet. Perfect balance of performance and battery lifr. Much better than wife's ipad in my opinion (she prefers ipad, but is ok with apple's limitations where they drive me batty). Love having same ui and functionality on both, and use dropbox and evernote heavily to keep everything synced up.
I've got my note 2 and a nexus 7... my n7 hasn't been touched in a week since I got this

I have a Note 2, Nexus 7 and Note 10.1. I find I use my 10.1 for most all my video and surfing needs. The Nexus 7 I find is much nicer for reading or playing a game in bed since it is lighter and smaller. I find I use my 10.1 a lot more especially paired up with the Note 2. Each of my devices is for somewhat specific purposes. My Notes suit my business needs far better than Nexus or iPad could.
The reason that I'm leaning towards ipad is that 3:4 aspect ratio looks so much better for Web browsing (the main thing I will be doing on my tablet aside from gaming). I'm also so curious to try out ios games and apps (I would never be able to use anything else but Android on a phone though).

I had a note 1 and a nexus 7 and a galaxy tab 8.9.
Now I just have the Note 2 and the Galaxy tab 8.9
The best thing about the Nexus was that it made the Note feel really small, but I sold the Nexus because once rooted, and messed around with a little the 8.9 is just about a perfect size, and it performs perfectly for what I use it for.
The Nexus had problems when it was playing CPU demanding games, (least my one did).
I tend to use the 8.9 when I am at home, but the Note 2 when I am out and about.

I currently have a nexus 7 and galaxy S2, but i am only buying a note 2 32gb as soon as it's released in Australia. I would never buy a 10 inch tab, they r too big.

I have several 10" tablets and owned two 7" ones. I sold the 7" weeks after buying them. For a tablet, they were useless to me as everything felt too crammed. The ipad mini is a good size or go 10".

I have the note2 now and the galaxy 10.1 great together
I have a Note II and a tab 2 7".
I like the 7" size as its not too big and an ideal size for when im on the sofa relaxing. When i get home i put my note on charge and since i text alot i use tablet talk so i can use my tablet to send & receive texts. the keyboard is somewhat bigger (Thumb keyboard).

Drawing App for N7...

Need to use a drawing app for capturing ideas that are sketched. I am looking for:
- Simplicity
- Stability
I tried Marker and while simple and elegant, I don't want the odd shaped lines that it can sometimes make when you are just trying to sketch a simple shape. It emulates markers after all, not just a plain 'ole pencil.
I also tried Sketchbook Express for Tablets from Autodesk, and it's far more complicated than I need. Sure, I could spend the time to learn it, but I am just not interested, and I just don't need 90% of what it offers.
Given that, what are your recommendations that work well on the N7?
I use Asus Supernote and I think it's great.
I have a stock N7 - locked and non-rooted. Can Asus Super note be installed?

Thanks!!
Layer paint is pretty simple.

Thanks. Sketchbook Pro for tablet is very similar to the Sketchbook Express for Tablet, both from Autodesk, near identical functions as far as I can tell. I am looking at something a little simpler. Thanks for the tip though.
Spent a little more time investigating today, and it turns out that what I really NEED is a Notes application. I tried a bunch this AM, and SuperNote from Asus is tops for me.
Sketcher pro is simple & cool but sketchbook pro for tablet is the best for drawing & painting.
For notes applications evernote is the best for me
I use Draw something Sketch, the I firewall it so I don't have to deal with adds

Getting great sound out of your Galaxy Note II onboard music player

Please see attached pics. I found this to be a great equalizer setting for my note II
Makes a huge difference in the Car! If you have expensive head phones it makes a huge difference as well!
Thought I would share!

Does Note 2 S-Pen work with Galaxy Tab S?

I don't want to buy note 10.1 because of its screen. Tab S has an AMOLED screen which offer amazing visual effect but I also like S-Pen. So I am thinking of if my note 2 spen could work for Tab S.

no it does not.
That is tab s is a junk, only good for media consumption but not production.

Wait for something better in the future, I'm sure Sammy will give us a real tablet. A tablet with amoled and wacom stylus.
In the meantime get the surface pro 3
I think surface pro 3 is much better than galaxy tab s but it's more expensive.
