Hi,
I would like to know where can I buy a sim card unlocker. (I know I can introduce a code to unlock the device but I´ll lost waranty)
Thank you!
As far as im concerned its impossible without a code and without voiding your warrenty. There might be something but im still a n00b with unlocking so maybe another samsung device will have an app for it like the s2/3.

It's codes-only on Samsung devices. Even if you pull the code from the phone itself like with the S1, S2 etc. you still need to manually input the code.
The only thing I can think of that resembles a hardware unlocker is the XTC Clip, which is for HTC devices only. Perhaps a JTAG box like a Riff will do it? You'd need to read up.
SIM unlocking generally doesn't void a handset warranty, flashing ROMs and Recoveries however, does
I don't know where your from OP, but if you're from anywhere in the EU, your phone carrier is legally obliged by EU law to allow you unlock your phone from their network.
There may be a certain length of time from when you purchased the phone/started the phone contract (here in Ireland I think it's 90 days, at least for PAYG phones).
You just have to ring up your carriers customer support and they should give you the unlock code (and possibly how to enter the code), once you've verified you're the owner of the phone/contract.
Hope this helps

Well I was simply wondering why I should pay to unlock my phone through this:
http://rhodium.htc-unlocks.com/
Why do that when I can call up t-mobile and ask them to unlock my phone by telling them I'm traveling to a different country. Is there a difference between a representative unlocking my phone and this program? I'm pretty sure they're the same thing.
You have to be a customer for so long with T-mobile before they'll do it. And they might cut you off if you unlock an abnormal amount of phones.
Unlocking through a representative won't do everything that program will do. In addition to SIM unlocking your device, the program will also CID unlock it and security unlock it (both technical things that most people don't need). Also, if you don't have it already, it will install HardSPL to your device, which lets you flash custom ROMs other than what shipped on your phone. While those aren't useful to some people, many people here, including myself, think they're very useful.
But if you only need a SIM unlock and don't want to pay for it, assuming you've been with your mobile provider for long enough, a SIM unlock from a telco representative is fine.
Thanks for the advice. I've been a customer for over 2 years now. I don't think I would need the CID unlock since I'm probably going to put on a cooked rom. But what if I would like to install WM 6.5 WWE by htc? Also the security unlock pretty much allows for radios correct? What would be improved if I changed the radio? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn
Just got my Note 2 (Globe Philippines), over the weekend. Since we spend half the year in the US and the winter here in the Philippines, I want to remove the SIM lock before we go back to the US. I tried the free unlock method that is posted elsewhere in the forums here, however since my firmware is version is 4.1.2, that unlock method no longer works. It was mentioned in a number of places about downgrading to 4.1.1 firmware, however since that voids the warranty is something I'd rather not do. What I'm wondering is if anyone has found a way to do this with the 4.1.2 in place, or am I better off by simply going to one of the pay services? If the pay service is the best or only option, could anyone give recommendations on who is the best or more importantly who to avoid? Thanks in advance...
Downgrading won't void warranty if I am not wrong.
But the methods would if I am correct.

Doesn't your cell provider unlock phones? You could try calling them and explaining that you're out of the country a lot and need to SIM unlock so that you can use a local SIM. I don't know about the Philipines, but lots of providers world wide will do this, though they might charge a fee.
If not, then unlocking is likely to void your warranty anyway, so why worry about downgrading? Besides, as long as you downgrade to an official ROM, just doing that won't void your warranty.
I would agree with respectable member that asked you to contact your provider, as I was working for many international mobile network providers before, I know for fact that almost 85% of network providers unlock their locked handsets upon customers request, but it varies from a provider to another and from a handset to another, so they could be asking you for a fee, and they might do it for free, but the pain will be generated if your network does not unlock phones, or they do but they don't unlock this particular handset.
The other point will be with the alternatives of applications and tricks that you can perform to unlock it yourself, however, all of the alternatives will differently require rooting the phone which by default voids the warranty, so if you wish to proceed let me know and i will be more than happy to refer you to many many topics that will help you unlocking it, but again, remember that such action will void the warranty.
Don't worry about warranty, it can be restored.

Good point, thanks for the tip, I'll check with them before we head back. I give them a couple months though so they know I pay my bills, no hurry anyway.

I did see that thread and was hoping that would be the case, but I tried with a SIM from another carrier (AT&T US), but got the warning that it was not a proper SIM. I kind of suspect this came about with the 4.1.2 update.

I'm currently a subscriber of the same (Globe) network and this n7100 was my recontracting bonus with them though I remember that part of the 24 month contract says that the devices supplied is locked and cannot be used with other sim cards from other providers,. But I also remember my mom used to have an arrangement with the competing provider (Smart) to have her supplied mobile phone unlocked by default, without paying any extra fees, so there might be a slim chance we could also have it arranged with Globe,.

Hi all,
Bought this tablet off of craigslist a couple months ago after meeting seller at the T-Mobile store and confirming all was good for him to sell, no money owing, not stolen, etc...
I want to now sim unlock it to other carriers. I see ads all over the place for sim unlocking for a fee. They have to be doing it somehow... Thought I'd call T-Mobile to ask them to sim unlock their device. Was given the run-around for an hour, no satisfaction! I tried the chat and the idiot T-Mobile rep gave same run-around stories.
I've searched high and low for something that can sim unlock this tablet. I've found nothing yet. The T-Mobile sim unlocking app wouldn't install, incompatible. Hell, we can root these tablets all day long and I have other phones I've rooted no problem, but I see nothing yet for a sim unlock. Is this some black art or something?? To give some props here or an example, I bought an AT&T Galaxy S off craigslist. Got to the AT&T web page to request sim unlock. Filled out the form. A day and a half later, sim unlock code sent. Put T-Mobile sim in, it asked for code, entered code, watch now sim unlocked!
So, if anyone can help point me in the right direction for more info, appreciate you!
I´m afraid you´ll have to pay for the unlock. T-Mobile won´t unlock it as you don´t meet requirements (not subscriber, to begin with) , and you won´t get it for free. At&t gave you the code, but that doesn´t mean all carriers would do the same. People that sell codes get them from employees, not from their website. Some options:
- Search for a repair shop that make unlocks, but keep in mind that unlocking a phone without carrier´s consent can be considered illegal, according to DMCA [read this]. Repair shops that have modern tools for that kind of job would take 20 - 40 minutes to unlock it.
- Order code from reliable source. Paying by paypal is not securing transaction in this case, as it´s qualified as 'service', not goods, so they don´t have buyer protection program.
Initially asked about M9s, but now I have a sony and samsung that have been carrier unlocked without a code. Carriers say the code should be needed, but 6 separate andriod phones have been unlocked ( were locked when new ). Still no explanation of "***,144***" code.
Any thoughts on how this might be possible? Aside from an alternate personality that knows how to hack.

Probably leaked universal unlock code, to save carriers the time when unlocking, they probably only generate unique codes (that you pay for) when you want to unlock the phone yourself.

I agree (you're the 1st to even suggest that) about the code. dont knowhow to include " , ". Can't find it on the M9 the code was left on.
but phones (Samsung, Sony and HTC... different secret codes?) I'm finding unlocked were dead and packed for years. Only to get the free code from carrier then to find it not even locked any more. My daughter's M9 did require a code but the 2 still in this house, didn't 2 months later. Back, way before legislation banning sim locks took effect. Rogers charged for codes even when contract was complete and up to date.
Just a question thats really bugging me.
SOLVED!
Apparently the sim carrier lock is a completely external (to the phone) system.
However, carriers will provide lock codes, but not tell you that it's not needed. In Canada anyways!
Thanks for all the feedback!
Well since I have found zero threads about AT&T bootloader unlock. Does anyone have any solution? Whenever I put in any other sim, it just says that unable to use any other sim apart from AT&T. So I just factory resetted my phone and blocked the device setup app from accessing the internet via the Netguard app. That's allowed me to use any SIM card apart from AT&T however it's not a permanent solution but I'd like to know my options. Any chance of me working around a carrier unlock or possibly bootloader unlock? I bought this phone outside the US, and to my stupidity I never factored in that this was also a possibility that it's carrier locked, that too with a bad standing. I tried unlocking online but it just says that there's payments overdue and that I should log into my AT&T account. Tried calling their customer service, however they're useless and unhelpful. Learned the hard way, depressed that I've kinda wasted my money. Can there possibly be a way to carrier unlock my device and bootloader unlock?
Can you return the phone? The seller should have disclosed that information and the phone will technically only be used on AT&T until it's paid off, and currently on AT&T (for 60 or 90 days before they will sim unlock)
I tried going back to the shop, they just said that there's no way that they offer returns and that I should just contact AT&T for this issue. I'm running out of options and patience. I'm basically stuck with this phone. There's really no check and balance here when it comes to these matters
