[Q] Please Help! My HTC is encountering serious problems! - HTC One X

Ok so here's what i did.
I rooted the phone, installed the CWM Recovery and everything.
Next I installed the Android Revolution HD Rom 7.1.0 by doing the "Super Wipe".
It got into boot loops
Then after factory resetting and every other things I could do I tried to do the new RUU on my O2 HTC One X Unlocked.
For that you have to Re-Lock it (which I did)
And I cant go into any of the Fastboot settings etc too because its battery level is very low.
Please someone help me. I just bought this phone

unlock the phone again. flash the latest recovery. then go into fastboot. fastboot erase cache , then flash the kernel, go into recovery flash superwipe, flash rom and reboot and job done..
before you do all that though backup your current rom

I cannot go into the fastboot and do the stuff because it prompts me that I have less battery. There's another problem that the phone doesn't shut off. When it gets out of juice then it turns black, the notification light blinks then when its charging, it loads the Bootloader. It simply just doesn't turn off and that leads to the problem that it uses up the battery much more than the required :/
I've tried powering down from the menu but no use

man i am sorry then i wish i had more knowledge to give you help. hopefully someone else with more experience and knowledge can come and advise you different. just never had that issue you see.
if you say you can not go into bootloader or recovery then it does not sound right...maybe take it back to retailer or something might be the best option if no one can help out
have you tried the power button with the volume button down for ten seconds to see if the phone reboots?

Can anyone tell me the solution to this "keep turning on" habit. If that's resolved there's nothing to it then. Please help me out here :'(

OK so I managed to get the phone UNLOCKED (Finally)
Now when I flash the 5.8.4.0 recovery it says
"unknown partition 'recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-end
eavoru.img'"
So i booted the phone into the recovery mode instead of flashing.
I am finally getting somewhere but how do i know it's charging there? I don't see the red LED turn ON :/

LATEST UPDATE:
So when I unlocked the bootloader again. Apparently that solved the "not turning off" habit of the phone.
I went into the bootloader and Power Down my phone, Now it's on charge (waiting for it to turn green)
And I have the O2 branded HTC One X. I also updated it to the 1.29.206.XX something.. I don't remember :/
And I only see one RUU for the O2 branded Phone and that is like 1.26.XXX.XX thing... Will that cause problems since I upgraded the firmware??

Why is it so hard for guys to flash roms. Man its getting old seeing 50,000 of the same threads over and over.
Ok on to helping
You have latest recovery. So boot to fastboot & flash the roms boot.IMG ( fastboot flash boot boot.img) now unplug the phone, press the power button. Now your back in hboot select recovery, once there click mounts & storage button , mount USB drive. Now copy the Rom to your phone. Unmount USB drive, now flash super wipe script. BUT DON'T REBOOT AFTER YOU FLASH THIS!!!!!! choose option to select another zip to flash. This time flash your Rom & reboot. Now your done. Simple huh. & to answer your ruu ?, you can't downgrade ruu's if your on 1.29, your stuck with it till a newer one comes out.

Woah! That's spot on... I was surely gonna mess up my phone if i had done the RUU.
Its charging while the screen is off as we speak. But I think there is a problem with the charge thingy.
Its off and charging.. but sooner or later it turns off due to low battery (IM SUCH A NOOB I DNT KNW IF THE LOW BATTERY IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM)
I'll wait for it to charge again though and connect to the PC again
In the meanwhile can u answer me something regarding this
1. Does the red light turns on while charging in CWM 5.8.4.0
2. Does the mount USB Drive works? :'( Cuz when the phone was working fine. The mount USB Drive failed and gave an error of having a "lunfile missing" :/

Both of your questions can be found :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819

i flashed the boot.img like ray said. then i turned the phone to recovery mode it went there and then mounted the usb it worked etc.
but I didnt flashed just yet.. i wanted it to be charged so i turned it off.. I am again getting that "not turning off" habit again
OH God what am i doing wrong here

PLEASE!! Someone help me! It's got that nasty thing that gets HTC Queitly Brilliant thing again.. It's charging but won't go into the recovery mode now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can I charge my phone while on Relocked Bootloader. I need help u guys!

[Q] How to comletely remove Clockworkmod

Hey, I rooted, s-off/hbooted my phone and used Clockworkmod to install a ROM.
Now it won't go away no matter what I've tried and I want to be able to turn my phone off and charge it without seeing that annoying recovery screen.
I've backed up all my apps on to SD, wiped data and factory resetted with CWM and the phones built in factory reset yet it still comes back to haunt me.
What do I need to do to make this go away and revert my phone back to it's original out of box state?
CWM should come with an uninstall guide and a notice of how annoying this is, I see it's quite a widespread problem for everyone trying to calibrate the battery with no clear answer
Install the correct HTC RUU for your desire hd.

Much appreciated, you get my first thanks.
For anyone else in need here's where I got mine (every other ROM and RUU is there too)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868610
Just to be sure, can I just put the RUU on my storage card and use CWM recovery to install it?
Thanks for the.. thanks lol
I don't know but it really doesn't matter, better if you flash it from bootloader. If you were eng hboot s-off then your dhd will become 100% stock (if you installed the correct htc ruu). If you were radio s-off you will still have s-off afterwards. I don't think this affects warrentee issues as long as you have installed the correct rom.
On another note, I am sure I read somewhere some instructions on how to calibrate your battery and fix this problem. But you may have to do a little searching for it.

even on stock the phone goes into recovery anyway just it don't show the recovery screen. reason it does so i've read is for the led light to come on lol
spookamiester that link just brings you back to this thread so i've placed a link to all HD files and it has all the RUU files there

Maybe I am being simple but I see this posted everywhere as a problem, it in no way affects battery calibration, yes when the phone is turned off and plugged in it boots into recovery (it also does this with the stock ROM) so what? It's still charging and from CW you can then wipe the battery stats which is required to complete your calibration anyway.
What exactly is the problem with it booting into CW when turned off and plugged in
and to answer the question, reflash with the appropriate RUU
Or just flash recovery.img from a stock rom
Is the s-off that stops the receiving of OTA's ?

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for the responses, should be able to get things sorted now.
In response to the charging in CWM, I tried it for over an hour after full charge on and the LED remained amber, I turned the phone back on and the battery was at 99% which leads me to believe that it doesn't actually charge in CWM recovery, I tried this on stock and within 10 minutes after full charge on I got the green light off. I've asked in other threads if anyone can confirm the phone charge whilst in CWM but so far no confirmation, just similar results.
I'll keep my eyes pealed for answers but I don't think it works with CWM and can't find a way to charge whilst off without CWM recovery popping up.

I have spent quite a while in recovery and I am fairly sure it's charging I wouldnt be surprised that the green led didn't function though? I don't really see how it wouldn't charge surely it a hardware thing when the power is attached?
Update: I use QtADB to give a GUI interface to ADB, have spent the past 15 minutes monitoring the battery state whilst in Clockwork recovery and it is most defintetly charging so you needn't worry about that
I bought the phone from Hong Kong with stock ROM. Rooted, S-Off and installed CWM but never flashed any ROM. But I have same the problem, screen will boot to recovery when I want to charge. I found there are a lot of DHD guys have the same problem here in China or Hong Kong..... and no solution found in any forum here yet. Some said it's a bug on CWM.
Anyway. I found an alternative myself. Instead of using the DHD original charger, I used the I9000 charger to charge the DHD. It worked perfectly (100% charged) and no recovery screen appeared so far......
Hey guys!
I have the original Desire HD stock ROM but I have clockwork mod recovery.
Could you guys provide a step by step guide on how to remove and replace with original recovery image?
I would really appreciate all the help!

I have a file recovery.img. How do I flash it to the DHD?
I'd like to know this as well. I have the Clockwork bootloader installed. It's OK, but I changed my mind - I'd like to keep this phone as close as possible to factory-standard and use a different phone for hacking. Is there a step-by-step guide to reverting a DHD back to normal so I can benefit from the regular OTA updates?
Thanks!
Reflashing the ruu is the hard and long way.
Just download the stock recovery.img which west2cool was good enough to post for me. (Cheers again I didn't really feel like installing windoze just for that).

And make sure it is FASTBOOT mode. Flashing fails otherwise (unless I did something stupid).
Sorry, I'm a newb at this.
When I boot by doing vol-down + pwr I get a mainly white screen with three Androids skateboarding at the bottom. At the top it says
ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.85.0007
The top option is "FASTBOOT", so I press pwr once to select that.
Next I see four options:
BOOTLOADER
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
I do not see an option to reflash a recover image.
If I go into "RECOVERY", I see the green text on a black background of ClockworkMod v2.5.1.3. There is an option to apply an update.zip, however that's clearly not the same thing as I was instructed to do.
Detailed step by step instructions would be much appreciated!
THANKS!
I'm resurrecting my laptop with ubuntu 10.10 x64 right now (so I can build gingerbread) so can't help until later. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I will up a proper set if instructions along with the links you will need once my laptop is fully functional again.

Ok buddy, my lappy lives again
1. Download the recovery.zip posted earlier on in the thread.
2. Extract recovery.img from the recovery.zip (best to extract it somewhere easy like a new folder called c:\fastboot)
3. Download fastboot from here. http://developer.htc.com/adp.html#s2
4. Make sure fastboot.exe and recovery.img are in the same directory (e.g. c:\fastboot)
5. Reboot your phone as you did before (while holding vol down + power)
6. Select fastboot and push the power button
7. Plug your phone into your computer - it should change the message to "FASTBOOT USB"
8. Open a terminal (push start button and type in "cmd" to get one if you don't know how).
9. Type "cd c:\fastboot" and press enter.
10. Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
11. You should see a message which says something like sending ... send complete ... done.
12. To test: Push the power button on your phone once, push volume down once to highlight recovery, push power button. It should boot you to a screen with a red triangle.
13. Push vol up + power button to bring up the stock recovery menu
14. Push power button to reboot
Hopefully thats detailed enough

Need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW TOTAL BRICK thanks anyway

Ok im stuck, gave this phone to my girlfriend when I got my new phone, anyway it started having random reboots and was getting stuck on the splash screen, it was getting more regular so I told her I would put a new rom on, anyway I tried installing the stock 2.2 froyo with root busybox ect, and I got stuck in a boot loop, so I tried doing a full wipe again and by accident after that I let it boot up, which I though it wouldn't but anyway it did, I just got on to the home screen and it rebooted again and was stuck on the splash screen, but now I cant access recovery, I can however get in to the hboot menu, and when selecting the recovery my phone vibrate and sticks at the spalsh screen, and goes no further.
In the past I have changed the splash screen to a photo but was about 5 month ago, dont know if this has somthing to do with the splash screen loop????
To be honest I have lost most knowledge of the desire as I have an LGo2X now, have I just forgetten somthing?????
ANY HELP APPRECIATED
but my phone is pretty much bricked up at the min as I cant do anything with it
I also have S-OFF
Well, the sure-fire way to solve this is to run a RUU and then unrevoked again. Someone else might know of a better way though.

First be sure you have fastboot USB driver (search XDA if you don't).
Then get the .img file for the recovery of your choice (usually either CWMR or AmonRA)
Then get your phone to fastboot mode, it should change to fastboot USB
Finally, from your PC type the following:
fastboot flash recovery imagefilename.img
where imagefilename.img is the name of the imagefile you selected.
note: it is easiest to have the .img file in the same folder as fastbook.
good luck

LIST OF DEVICES ATTACHED
and thats it, anyway I tried flashing the recovery img it said it was sucessful but when I rebooted and tried to load the recovery it was stuck at the splash screen along with 7 vibrates.
Also I have had the phone on charge all night, I tried to do an ruu throught windows installer but that stoppped me and said the battery is less than 30% so cannot continue, even thought I know the battery is full.
Ok now I have a HUGGGGGEEEE problem hehehe ok I finally got the RUU to run, and it got to about 80% and said error 110 FILE OPEN ERROR, I exited the program and shut down the phone then tried to restart it and NOTHING, NOTHING AT ALL wont turn on not even a power light when charging.
Is it BRICKED???
And will I get away with taking it back to the shop as it's still under warranty????
from what I seen it was the Radio V2 that failed the update everthing else said it was OK
Create a goldcard.

If your ADB is not working... Put the SD card of your Desire into your LG mobile.....Goto market and search for app called "goldcard helper"... it will give you the reverse CID and you can follow from step 7 from above guide.
After creating a goldcard from your LG mobile... put tht sd card back to your desire and flash below RUU

EVO 4G stuck at htc 4g splash screen - I searched for 2 days!!!

Hey guy's, well first off I just want to say I'm a big fan of android and especially xda-developers and all the helpful people on this site. I'm having a pretty big issue, one that I searched for a solution for 2 days now using the search function on here as well as google and many others available and I'm in a corner. I have an EVO 4G I bought from someone off craigslist and everything was fine for 3 weeks then 3 days ago the phone died and i plugged it in with no led light showing the charging status. I thought perhaps it was a bad battery so I bought another battery and with the little life the new battery has it turned on and got stuck on the HTC EVO 4G splash screen.
So I pulled the battery out and re-installed and booted into the bootloader menu only to find out more bad news. When I try to boot into recovery from the bootloader menu it goes to the HTC EVO 4G splash screen and stays there forever. I have tried to clear storage, in which it clears and says everything is ok reboots into the HTC EVO 4G splash screen and gets stuck again, So I'm really concerned now and I cant find a solution anywhere I've tried several different methods to flash amon RA recovery, I downloaded the zip file and changed the name accordingly so the bootloader menu would automatically recognize it and it said installed successfully but still to no avail, and I do not believe I am able to manually flash another recovery method because I cannot get into usb debuggine mode from the phone so I'm not sure how adb would even begin to recognise the phone.......... someone for love of all things fancy please help me!!!! I'm struggling!!! lol
Also this is what appears on my bootloader menu:
supersonic EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-2.02.0000
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO-2.15.00.09.01

downloaded the file and executed it in windows and it reboots the phone from bootloader to bootloader again but phone never comes back on...
Do this, in this order...
Charge battery to full (since there's no way for you to tell how much charge there is you might as well be sure it's full...)
Boot to Bootloader
Select FASTBOOT with volume up/down
Press Power button to go into FASTBOOT
Plug phone in to PC
Run RUU.

Hey I tried this method and all was well for the most part and then the executable ruu said that it could not continue because my battery was less than 30% and my phone won't charge for some strange...

The phone doesn't charge in bootloader, turn the phone off and leave it on the charger when it's OFF until the light goes green, then start over.

Phone is not charging when it's off or at least there is no led lit up or anything

Then it's possibly a bad battery or simply a brick now, because if you can't charge it normally, doing anything to get it working again is futile... If you have another battery try that, or if you can take it to a shop and try one of their batteries in it... That's all I can think of doing...

Well I don't think its a complete brick just yet the usb port can't be bad if fastboot reads the pc when connected and vice versa, however I went to frys and bought a universal battery charger and am charging the battery to full right now. I'll let you know something soon thanks for all your help so far.
Ok so I let the battery charge, re-installed and ran the RUU executable file it flashed and installed successfully but is at the same place still gets stuck on htc evo 4g screen
What Rom and kernel were you on when you discovered it at white screen.
Also, did you just find it at the splash screen? or did it random reboot or just not boot?

Stock as far as I know and the phone died and when i went to recharge it and discovered the white splash screen
Ok I'm really stuck nothing is working for me the RUU ran and flashed properly just to get back stuck at the htc evo 4g screen again I was reading somewhere else that it needs to read S-ON on bootloader to flash the OTA RUU is this correct? and if so how can I change it with unrevoked if I cant get adb to recognize the device?

I think I just ****ed my phone

All was working fine until I installed the 3-dot removal on ODEXED rom then it will never boot again! just hanging on boot. so i ****ed my recovery aswell. All i have now is fastboot which is always telling me BATTERY TOO LOW no matter how long i keep it on charge. I can't flash anything neither use RUU. When I click "switch off" in boot menu it will just restart and bootloop. I don't know how to charge my battery so I can use RUU again. Please any help will be much appreciated!

Exactly this version. But I've seen odexed later after I installed it.
I was able just to "erase cache" and unlock it. Then flash recovery. Now its in recovery and I'm waiting for it to charge. Hopefully it will.

Once you have the latest CWM you can charge the phone whilst it's off. After that you can flash a ROM/run a RUU and get it back up and running.

still no luck
Jack , take a look here and report back! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609190

I've tried everything. Now im at phase in bootloader - battery very low again. It's not charging from bootloader neither when I start it. Recovery is not working too + I can't unlock it because of the battery. Tried to shut down - not working. HTC made that phone crap because of the internal battery! I hope there will be solution or I have to return it to them,.

To be fair its not HTC's fault, you did do something that they didn't intend.
Also don't charge from the bootloader it needs to be completely off, hold power and volume up to force it off.

I put it in bootloader to charge - it failed and switched off. Turned on bootloop to charge - same story. Tried with clockworkmod latest - same story. So I was going to send it back. Until I switched the usb port on the PC - then the battery problem was not there! I WAS ABLE TO USE RUU! That's how I fixed it.

HOX bricked help to flash (no ROM in sd card)

ok i got my phone bricked since i change some fonts ¬¬ yeah its stupid but its done, my htc stays in HTC ONE X splash screen
1.- i already did wipe cache & dalvik (i dont want to try full restore yet)
2.- i cant access to the SD card to put the ROM.zip into it
any idea on how to bring it to life again?? (without losing data)
ok i did a full reset and now its showing only ANDROID label (splash screen) and thats all u.u still bricked, any idea????
is there any way to flash from PC i mean having ROM on PC i dont have it on my HTC
flash lastest clockworkmod and you can mount USB from recovery, copy rom and install as normal.

@vorticalbox tweet me
what the latest version i got 5.8.4.0 i think this is the latest but i dont know hot to mount USB :/
Yep that's the latest version. Flash it via fastboot:
Put the recovery.img in your fastboot folder and rename it to "recovery.img", then open a command prompt and:
cd..
cd..
cd fastboot
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now extract the boot.img from the ROM you want to flash on your PC, and copy it to your fastboot folder and:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Then boot into recovery and:
Go to mounts and storage
Choose Mount USB Storage
Copy ROM to your phone
Factory reset
Wipe Dalvik cache
Choose Zip from SD Card
Flash Rom
Reboot and enjoy
If this doesn't work, you'll have to boot into flastboot mode and run the RUU for your phone.
Either way, it's not 'BRICKED'.
Just make sure your battery doesn't go below 30% before you fix it or it will be much more difficult to recover (but not impossible).
It's impossible to totally brick an S-ON One X as whatever happens, you can always get into fastboot mode.

Ok guys. I almost had heartattack. By holding vol down buttont and power it went into Bootloader mode. I was able to get into recovery and then used venom flasher to change back to stock kernel. Oh god... Thank you guys trying to help me
Dudes, when its stuck in start up logo doesn't mean its bricked. It's bricked when you can't turn it on or go into bootloader. Please don't use "bricked" to describe every problem you encounter please.

That is true. What's more I was stupid enough to flash kernel to totally different phone (One XL). Luckily my stupidity was spared this time.
I hope OP will repair his phone too.
Like I said, it's pretty much impossible to 'BRICK' an S-ON device.
What about If you flash a Ron intended for a different phone, doesn't this change the layout of system positions? Or I'm just being stupid and you need s-off to mess things up like that?

Flash the newest CWM Recovery. Or any recovery with that you can use the option "advanced restore". Now Backup your Rom> wipe everything> restore>advanced restore>restore data only
Here you go
Sry, can one the mods delete this post? My browser is f****** up and didn't show me there are already answers...
I think this qualifies as "bricked"
OK, I am trying to help my sister with her HTC 1X. It will not turn on whatsoever. I hold down the power button, nothing. I hold down the power and one of the volume buttons (up or down), nothing. I hold down the power button and both of the volume buttons, nothing.
I have hooked it up to my laptop because I was able to find some drivers for the device and some files that will allow me to root it, should I be able to get the phone to do anything. Anyway, the only thing I get is a message from Windows saying that the device has malfunctioned and that I should disconnect it and reconnect it or replace the device.
I've scanned through several of the threads but cannot seem to find anyone with as legitimately bricked a 1x as my sister has. I am used to rooting and ROMing Samsung devices and thought I would lend a hand by trying to help out with this HTC device but I cannot get it to even show up in MY Computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I was afraid she was going to have to send it back to HTC. What really stinks is that she's only had the phone for 35 days at this point. Started having problems a couple of days ago and ATT doesn't seem to want to do diddly.
Anyway, thanks for the response!
No worries. Pls let us know the outcome. Good luck.
