I received my Seidio Innocase Rugged Case and Holster for my EVO 4G. It consists of a Innocase II Surface, a soft plastic shell that wraps around the Innocase II Surface. The third and final piece is an exoskeleton that fits around the soft plastic shell. There is also a nicely built holster that has a nice locking button.
Fit- The fit is excellent, everything slips on tight but not too tight. Be careful not to pull off your screen protector when putting this case on your EVO.
Materials- The materials seem like they are tough and durable. The problem is that the soft plastic is very thin in the areas where the exoskeleton fits on it.
Durability- This solid feeling case should outlast my EVO in my opinion.
Protection- I doubt that this case provides more protection than the Active cases. I would like a thicker soft layer like the Active cases have. However, this rugged case does come with a sturdy clip and protection of ports and camera lens. The Surface case that the rugged fits around is also a plus for anyone that has need for a sleeker looking case at times.
Overall, I think I would be happier with an Otterbox type design, I think they are tougher. But the Rugged and Active are both available now. I would recommend the Innocase Active over the Rugged if you have no need for an included clip, camera lens protection and want to save some cash.
*The rugged case comes with a screen protector, which some have liked, I personally prefer something tougher.
This is my very subjective opinion, I'm sure I missed a few things. Please share your opinions as well!

good review. I agree with you, just wish that amazon would stock the active so I could get one already!
ive got a rugged on the way for a few reasons:
-its two cases in one
-its got protection for the cam and ports
-it comes with a holser (i dont believe the active does)

There is a set on the website that has an included holster. However, the price is $50 and it does not give you 2 cases or cam/port protection. If you need a holster the rugged is the best value right now.

i got my rugged today and i must say im a fan...
its pretty much an innocase II with a soft ruber case around it and then another plastic shell to surround the soft rubber case
i would also like to mention that the holster has a locking feature, my regular innocase II holster did not have that
p.s. the port covers are very nice, but some of the covers (the head phone jack cover) worries me... i feel like its going to tear off of the case
I wish Amazon would hurry up and receive their stock.
Someone needs to put up a video & picture review of this case

I like the idea of the locking holster, but my locking mechanism seems to unlock frequently with use.
I agree with you on the tearing issue, I'm just waiting for it to tear. The rubber is thinner than I'd like and with the amount of times you need to charge the phone, I'm anticipating a tear...
Innocase Rugged Review
I also just received my rugged case and thought I would share my thoughts on it.
As my brother often says, "It is amazing how the phone manufacturers spend so much time and effort to make the phones sleek and shiny and as soon as we get them we cover them up to protect them, hiding all the built in beauty."
The "killer" feature of this case/holster combination is the protection it offers. It doesn't make your phone look extra cool, easier to use, or anything of that sort. Other than protection you can now also carry your phone on your belt with the included holster.
You will find that after you put on the rugged case you will have to use the holster. This rugged double case makes your phone nearly twice as thick. It still fits in the pocket of my jeans, but it is very apparent that my phone is there.
I purchased the version that also includes the Innocase II Surface holster as well. In comparing the two holsters, you can quickly see that they are like night and day. The rugged holster will support belts that are almost twice as thick as the non rugged holster. The plastic on the rugged holster also looks to be slightly thicker through out. The rugged also includes a locking mechanism to prevent you from bumping into something and having your clip release your phone to the floor. I do find that the locking mechanism is a little tough to put into the lock position, but very easy to push to unlock.
The phone must have its face in on the holster. You will not be able to just clip the holster into your car and have your phone face out. It will not be usable as a poor man's car dock using just some twist ties or paper clips and an A/C vent. With the rugged part off, you can use the phone face out in the rugged holster. (I haven't tried seeing if that combination will allow access to the power ports to charge.
The screen protector went on easily and the included cloth fully cleaned all of the finger prints and grime off of my phone. It seems that the screen protector could have been slightly (very slightly) wider to fully fit the front of the phone. After putting on the Innocase II on the phone, I was unable to see the area that wasn't covered with the protector.
All of the buttons on the phone are easily hit even though they are covered with silicone. This includes the power button as well as the volume up and down buttons. You can hit them just as easily as when they were not covered.
The USB and HDMI port cover reminds me a bit about the usb port cover on my wife's Palm Pixi. You can get it off, but it would help to have longer finger nails. I was glad when my USB port cover previously broke off of my Palm Pre and made it always available.
The camera cover seems like a very nice feature. Almost no camera would exclude something to cover the lens when not in use. Yet almost no phones try to cover it up at all. Since the EVO also has the lens stick out the back of the phone this can be a real worry. I definately like the idea of having a cover, but it does have a few draw backs. First it is a pain ot open. It took me a bit to get it, but I found that the two finger solution seems to work. Use one finger to press down on the little piece of rubber and then another to pull it out. It is too bad it doesn't work much more like the kickstand where you can press on one side and it pops open. It does latch into the hard plastic exoskeleton, but it can take a bit to get it to stay. The camera cover also covers the speaker on that back, so you might need to uncover it when talking on the speaker phone. Overall I like the camera cover.
The headphone cover seems to be the easiet cover to open. It left plenty of room when open for me to put in my headset. In saying this, my headset has a vary narrow plug, so your milleage may vary.
The case does not seem to effect my signal coverage at all. I can hold my phone in the left or right hand and still get 5 bars of signal. I can also get a gps lock with this case on my phone.
I tested throwing my phone down onto hard ceramic tile in my kitchen and was unable to see any damage to my phone or the case. (just kidding)

You'd be surprised...
i would also like to add that the evo in just the Innocase II will fit in the holster "face out"... and lock in just fine
soooo:
full rugged case - holster works with screen facing in
just innocase II - holster works with screen facing out
Went out with my friends yesterday, showed one of them the rugged case, he looked at it and goes: "throw it" I was confident in the case but not the screen, so i decided to drop it on its back from about 4 ft in the air. Hit the dirt parking lot, everyone that wasn't paying attention to the conversation gasped as they thought i had accidently dropped my shiny new toy.
I picked it up, inspected it, there weren't even any marks on the exoskeleton part. Dusted off the silicone and snapped it back in my holster, everything was fine.
Overall, fairly impressed by the protection it affords.

Truthfully verizons body glove case is best for non bulkyness.Very stable fits well .ect.
I like my body glove
Personally I have tried the Body Glove case and I like the Otter Box Commuter case a little better. The new Seidio Innocase Active is also a very nice case; a close second to the Otter Box.
Definitely otter box. Slim sturdy and stylish
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
one problem though it has to slide into my jeans. Most of these cases have rubber and dont slide
Throwing in a vote for the Body Glove case.. great fit with just enough bulk to give you that warm protected feeling
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
You should check out Techie Warehouse. If you go to the Covers & Skins area for the Droid X you'll find over 300 covers to choose from.
Best one I got laying around was not a Seidio, Otterbox or Trident... it was the Dual Layer Vertex Covers just google "techie warehouse vertex cover for droid x"
I quote from our product description about this product "The Motorola Droid X gets ultimate protection. A Screen Protector and two virtual walls of defense. The inner silicone core absorbs shock from bumps and drops. A hard polycarbonate exterior shell prevents cuts, scrapes, dings, and damage for the Motorola Droid X."
Let me know what you think of it.
i bought one of the 3 dollar black silicone ones off amazon. works fine for me..

I have had the Otterbox, Seidio, Innocase, Verizon, Kragen, but I didnt really like any of them. Iphone cases are so much more refined compared to these.
The Otterbox Seidio, and Kragen cases are too bulky, the Innocase looks good but broke on me, and the Verizon Kickstand Case was too cheaply made.
There is a guy from another forum thats making a phone case. It looks great but its not for sale yet, I am personally looking forward to it because he claims its easy to open and has a bunch of other features. It looks absolutely beautiful, so lets hope he can pull this off.
Right now Im using a cheap Ebay Silicone case, its not great either but it was only $2 and thats value for money. I also got a Smartphone Coaster, its a cheap bit of tin but it does the job for now.

+1 For the Body Glove
I really enjoy my Body Glove, Although I've managed to wear out the snap on the lower left side by removing the case over time to do a battery pull and it no longer holds securely.
I have a Green Trident Kraken on order, due to arrive today actually assuming UPS will brave the icy roads, Good reviews on protection but they all admit to the sacrifice of sleekness.
The pliable verizon silicone case is nice and it fits with extended battery-Motorola and cover. You can find them for $10 online or eBay.
Check ebay item #250759993717
I bought a Sedieo Innocase Surface back in December it cracked in half in January. They are really nice looking, but if you ever have to do a battery pull or if you want to use your car dock, forget about getting it out of the damn case. It fits way to tight. So I am back to the ole Silicone case, which works fine, but sucks if you put it in your pocket, cause it sticks to cloth / jean material.
I'm on my 2nd Body Glove case.
Likes: Belt clip, rubber texture, light weight
Dislikes: Rubber texture deteriorates, weak tabs will not survive impact.
It has kept my DX from scratches but the tabs that snap it together break too easily. First was replaced under warranty. I think I will kick out the $ for an Otter.

Those cases with tabs that snap together aren't meant to be taken apart, after 4 or 5 times they will break. I created a case that opens easily, has no tiny tabs to break and has a multitude of other features.
I've also taken great care to make sure that the case is placed further away from the screen and buttons making it easy to touch the screen and press the buttons on the bottom.
There's space for the OEM extended battery, an extra micro SD card, and even an ID or credit card.
The case also functions as a stand and car mount, my case allows you to watch movies, make movies, capture photos, and use your phones GPS in your car with ease. These features not only work with the Motorola Droid X but with other cases, other phones, and even some other electronic devices such as digital cameras.
The case isn't any more expensive then other high quality cases either. Its 20 bucks and made from the same high strength plastic as other high end cases, so basically if your in the market for a case and other accessories you can pay for just the case and get the rest for free essentially.
If you think this case must be huge and weigh a lot you'd be surprised, its really a simple concept, its almost like a normal cellphone case but we've changed a the design a bit to allow it to function as an adjustable stand.
I can't post links yet so you'll have to google "Jawcase" to find more info, pics, and videos.
I like the Jawcase concept. Alot. I pledged. And good luck with getting your project off the ground Heather. Hope it gets funded.
I've gone through 3 body gloves now with my 4th's clips are broken yet again....
I think its a bit ridiculous that I cant take my phone case off because the clips can't stand it.
I need to find a new case, and I'm thinking of just going with one of the hard-ish silicone cases. The body glove looks great when you buy it, but the rubber wears away like no tomorrow and the clips are destroyed after a couple battery pulls. I had one for my enV touch and it lasted the entire lifespan of the phone with minor tears and such. My droid x's can't last anymore than maybe a month. Don't get me wrong, the body gloves are wonderful, but I'm clearly not having a good experience with it or maybe I'm not handling it properly
+1 for the body glove case. I havent had any issues with the tabs, but i always open it at the bottom with a coin.

Shoot...I was pretty much sold on the Innocase Surface case, was gonna order one in the next few days. I've tried the cheap TPU case, the cheap 2-piece snap together case, maybe I'll try the Verizon silicon one instead of the Innocase.
Does anyone know of a case like the gear4 for iphone?
http://www.amazon.com/Gear4-Iphone-...PM/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1306965457&sr=8-17
My friend has one for his iphone and its so thin its hard to tell there even a case on it. It slips in and out of pockets with ease. No bulk at all.
whats the point of having such a thin case? it wont protect it much at all
Im not looking for it to protect it from dropping it, but more from scratches from putting it down on tables and bars and things like that. Right not i have a thin silicone case that will fall off if the wind blows to hard lol.
The case-mate barely there case is your best bet. I have one and I love it. It won't provide much protection from a drop but it's great for tossing the phone onto a table or desk.

Seconded. Not much drop protection, but thin and no scratches. I love mine, but I don't love how it doesn't cover the top and bottom of the phone.
Casemate...there is also a no name brand knockoff of the casemate on amazon. Just search for thunderbolt cases and look for a 1 piece snap on. There are not many to pick from.
I like to have a pouch case for my thunderbolt so I can still easily use my car dock. This one from Sena cases is awesome

The only one that comes close is made by LUXMO and is available on eBay.
I've bought a couple of these. Fits really well, though I don't know how thin it is compared to "gear4". But the mix of clear plastic and black TPU trim feels great.
I bought a smoke black argyl case off eBay for $5.99 and love it. Does not add much bulk at all and makes holdingnthe device slot better and also makes the buttons easier to push aswell.

Bought a case matte barely there, its perfect awesome case! no bluk slips in and out of my pockets with ease. very good choice.
Check out the cheap S-Line cases on eBay. I can't imagine a case getting much thinner than this. Plus, it's only ~$5-10, shipped. If you don't like it (yet to hear anybody not like it), then go get a more expensive one. But really, this is THE case to get if you want something different than the uber-protective cases.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1067656
i got the s case. its pretty sick. decent protection. only thing is sometimes stuff gets in the case and you can see it through the transparent part.
I have the S-Line and Seido Innocase II Surface Case. The S-line is nice for the money, but to me it feels cheap. There's also no real size difference in the 2. The Sedio case is harder to take off at first, but once you get used to it it's super easy. I love my Seido case, but I would be ok if I only had the S-Line.
Also, to me nothing feels better than the naked phone. I'm too afraid to scratch or drop it though.
Here's some picture comparisons
I had one like that for my fascinate. I think vzw is calling it a "fusion" case.
I have the case-mate barley there case. I love the thing. Does exactly what i want it to do, protect the phone from getting scratched and dinged up while in my pocket.

Dude... This case is perfect. Thanks for the heads up!
It added better grip and it feels like a better phone all around.
First of all, i would like to thank the people over at Trident (www.tridentcase.com) for sending this case out to me.
Packaging - The box is pretty simple. Shows the product and the different colors it comes in. Black, Red, Pink, Green, and Blue. i will be showing off the black model. Inside the box comes a screen protector kit, which includes the screen protector, microfiber cloth and a applicator/squeegee card. The case retails for $49.95.
Case - The Kraken AMS case is a heady duty 3-Layer case which features a shock absorbing silicone, a polycarbonate plastic shell, rubber dust covers over the microphone and speaker, rubber covers over ports (charger and headset), and holster. The silicone part, or Perseus can be used as a stand alone case on days that you don’t need maximum protection, but will still give u good drop and scratch protection. The two polycarbonate shells cover the silicone to make the case durable. The case has a nice lip around the screen for a lay on table design. One accessory that the case comes with is a really durable metal kickstand. They also have other Kraken accessories which make the case more usable in everyday life. such as an AMS Bike Clip, AMS Tripod Mount, AMS Headphone Organizer, AMS Seatbelt Clip, and AMS Windshield Mount.
Thoughts - My thought on the case are it is made of very high grade materials. everything fits. cutouts are precise. I’ve only had the case for a few hours and i love it. the silicone is way much better than the otterbox defender. it feels of quality and doesn't attract lint. the volume and power buttons feel better than the naked buttons to me. the kickstand is SOLID and does its job great. the holster is just as heavy duty as the case and rotates so you can wear it comfortably. i will update the in a few days to give more opinions...
Pics - I will have pics of the phone with the case tomorrow, as my nexus is my only camera at the moment.

Conclusion - I think the case is well worth the $50 you are paying. you are getting a heavy duty case that can be used as a lightweight case also that provides an ample amount of protection. I would definitely recommend this case to anyone who is looking for an overall great case that will add bulk to your device.

Can't wait to see some pictures of the phone inside the case.
Some questions...
First, how do the two plastic pieces (the front and back) fit together?
On my otterbox defender, they just snap together with some tiny little clips and after about two drops 3 out of 4 clips are already broken so the only thing holding them together is the silicone cover that goes on the outside. I'm hoping the kraken is a lot more rugged in that aspect... The otterbox is great at protecting the phone but the case itself is already trashed after a few drops which isn't cool.
Second, how bulky is the kraken? It looks bulkier than the otterbox defender, especially on the sides since it looks like it has a ridge sticking out from either side of the screen. Does it feel good in the hand? My defender definitely makes the phone about 30% thicker which makes it less comfortable to hold but I've gotten used to it. Don't know how I'd feel about the ridges on the Kraken however.
Anyway thanks for the review.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
hmmmm. might just scratch, but not blend.
the two plastic pieces fit together nice and tight. the top and bottom are snap together. but the sides are actually placed in slots, it can be slight difficult to remove if u don't have nails. but i see that as a good thing. the Kraken would take some time to show wear and tear.
it may b just a tad bit bulkier, but the grip is a for sure thing. the poly carbonate is not glossy but isn't matte. it's sort of in between but doesn't show finger prints. the sides have ridges for better grip as well. i actually thought the defender felt great in hand, maybe because i have small hands tho.

HI, just wondering if you wound up getting the 2000mah battery afterall and if so, how well it fits.
if it fits 100 percent with extended battery im a get one to
i recently bought one it appears the notification light is 40% block.. i'm using the standard battery gsm version could that be the reason i wonder
I have the same case with the extended battery (Sprint) and everything fits perfectly. The notification light is about 50% blocked but I dont use it anyways so it did not bother me much. The notification bar is easy to pull down with no interference with the top of the case like with the otterbox. The case can take a beating I have drop tested survived a 12ft drop. Even though it adds bulk because it is hard polycarbonate on the outside it makes it really easy to get in and out of pockets even with tighter fitting jeans.
Also if you have a Costco or Sams Club near by you can pick up the case for $30 instead of $50.
Seidio convert is better.. options for all gnex models and batteries

I would recommend it if you are looking for a case that offers similar or even more protection than the Otterbox Defender. The case adds quite a bit of bulk to your phone though so that may turn off some people.
Throughout the work week, usually switch between the Kraken, Otterbox Commuter, and the SGP leather pouch. The Kraken will be used only if I have to go out to do field work.
The Commuter is only used if I feel like I don't want to use the SGP pouch. Otherwise I end up using the SGP pouch most of the time on the slower days of work where I'm just stuck in the office.
I'm leaning toward the Kraken because I've read a couple of story about how the Otterbox defender was scratching phones.
I have a commuter right now but I need something more rugged for work and also to protect my GNex from my crazy kids

If that's the case, the Kraken would be a good purchase for you. My Kraken case has held up well when I drop my phone when I'm out doing field work. Very durable and well worth it!
I began using a Seidio Surface case on my GS3 and I LOVED it. Phone has survived many drops from lap while getting out of my somewhat raised truck, and quite a few from pants pocket level while standing. Never had a cracked screen, even on corner drops. Love the soft grip, thinness of the case, and that it doesn't grab onto pocket fabric when you're trying to get it out.
Ordered my Nexus 5 on day one. Got a cheapo case just out of paranoia because Seidio didn't have the Surface out yet. Hate it. HATE IT. Been checking the Seidio site everyday for the release. Checked last night when I got home from work....and saw that they are now shipping.
Black is the only color currently shipping. I've got my order in. Obviously I haven't received it yet.
There's a 15% off coupon code you can use through 12/06/2013: SURFACE15
I figured there are others out there that want this case, so I thought I'd post.

I am thinking of buying one. This will be my first seidio case. Can you please tell me the difference between surface and dilex versions?

Getting the Dilex, I think used to be called the ACTIVE accessories because they can accommodate more sizes of cases. The SURFACE15 only works for surface items (Duh), but I found a twitter discount code for 10% off anything - TW10. I am only buying the Dilex holster at this point.

All I know about the differences is from the descriptions on their website. I like using the thinnest cases possible...hate bulk. So for me, since the Surface is thinner, that's what I'm going with, since I know the Surface provides adequate protection for all my needs.
Here are the descriptions from Seidio's website:
Our SURFACE™ case is thin and sleek, perfect for those who want to shield their device from everyday wear. Depending on the device's size and dimensions, the case either snaps or slides together. Precision cut-outs allow access to all ports and controls, and the case is finished with our signature soft-touch coating that doesn't attract lint and slides easily in and out of your pocket or purse.
Designed for those with an on-the-go lifestyle, our DILEX™ case provides great shock and impact absorption. With two layers, our DILEX™ case is slightly thicker than our SURFACE™ case. The DILEX™ Skin, the first layer, is a highly durable polymer that covers vital ports and controls. The second layer, which is the DILEX™ Skeleton, fits over the DILEX™ Skin and provides extra protection at impact points such as corners and sides.

Looks like it retains the shape of the device, but adds some thickness like the neo hybrid. Worth considering.

Yes the Dilex or I am used to calling it the ACTIVE cases, which are thicker because there is a top piece, usually plastic that covers a portion of the softer case, thus making it thicker. Great protection and one of the better cases for drop protection IMO. However, I have just been using the Dilex/Active holsters as a belt holster in combination of various tpu cases.

How do the Dilex and Surface stand up to lint? i love soft-touch but silicone is a lint trap, and I absolutely HATE the look of lint and the time it takes to get the lint off.

No lint problem whatsoever with the Surface. Can't vouch for the Dilex.

The Dilex/Active uses the same material, they just add pieces for added protection. As for lint, no issue at all. And I have very linty pockets lol.
Did anyone receive the Surface yet? I really want see how it looks before I buy it.
thanks!
Seidio is great. I'll wait till they hit amazon though for better pricing.

Love Seidio cases, been using for years.
No lint problem whatsoever with the Active now the Dilex.
I used an Active case for my Galaxy Nexus and it was great.
I wouldn't mind getting another but need to know if the wireless charging will work through the case. They only say NFC works through the cases and nothing and wireless charging.
Time will tell tho when people here start getting their cases in.
I was just going to report this myself and they are now showing at amazon although only the black can be ordered, same as the manufacturer website. I had one of the surface cases on my N1 and my wife had it on the sgs at the same time. On the N1 the case worked well and the phone did survive a few drops undamaged. It worked less well on the sgs. As some of you might recall that phone was flimsy and the two piece nature of the surface combined with that flimsiness was a bad combo. The entire case/phone combo would move around allowing the case to abrade her phone a little bit and it simply felt bad. Exact opposite of the N1 where it felt very good and did not move or abrade the phone in any way. Mine did collect a little lint from some fabrics but nothing like some gel cases I've had. I'm guessing most would be ok with the lint factor and in reviews I've seen few complaints.
I've decided to go ahead and order the dilex version to give it a try and amazon is showing an after xmas delivery timeframe. Right now I have the ne-hybrid which is ok but not exactly confidence inspiring.

Do you have a link to the amazon page? I can't find it... thanks!
I'm sorry but I just tried and it appears they have taken the pages down since I put my order in last night.

I just ordered a Surface Holster. I intend to use it with my TPU cases as this is the same setup I used with my EVO for work and loved it. Surface holster with a cruzerlite case is all i needed!.
Is there going to be an OBEX version for the nexus 5? That's a case I'd feel confident with.

I ordered the S4 active phone surface holster from android central and it fits perfectly with a TPU Case. Got like 25% off of the seidio price.
Anyone get the Dilex case yet and try it with wireless charging?
