I want to add a sixth line. Please read! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Is there a cheap way to add a sixth line? I want to add a friend that needs help and I know its $5 to add a line but only up to 5 lines. If I go to virgin mobile or something then its more expensive to buy a good phone cause they aren't subsidized like sprint. I know I can buy a used phone but I really don't want to do that with pre paid carriers. I asked some of my friends and they agreed I can add a line np but they already have 5 people. If someone can help me out it'd be appreciated

Call Sprint to see if they can re-evaluate your credit. It helps to be in good standing and have made your payments on time for at least a year.
Also, I'm not sure which plan you're on, but it's not $5 to add.

Yeah, if you are on everything unlimited, its $20 a line I believe. Plus $10 for "premium data" for smart phones

Alright so all in all if I'm approved I should be paying about $40 a month after taxes and whatnot. The phone would be $299 + 35$ activation. Correct?

Everyone probably gets the idea from Sprint calling hundreds of people a day and telling them they can add a line right now for 5 dollars a month lol. Sprints fault they lie to people. I get that call a minimum of once per year.

Are they all smart phones or are some of them feature phones? Do they have TEP? Do any of them have mobile hotspot?

What you are trying to accomplish can't be done. You can have a MAX of 5 lines on ONE family plan. If you want to add the 6th line it will need to be on its own individual plan, 79.99 before taxes.
Some people are approved for 7 all the way up to 10 lines. Doesn't mean they are all on the same family plan. A 6th line would require its own individual plan, and another (7th) and lines 6 and 7 can be combined into ANOTHER family plan.
Hope this clears things up for you.

Two of our phones are smart phones with TEP and insurance. Other 3 are like low level close to free phones with no TEP or insurance. 5th line is really an air rave if that factors in. No mobile hotspot

My friend your statement is somewhat correct. Yes its 5 lines MAX but the exception to the rule is right here my friend. I have 6 lines plus my AirRave line(I know it don't count ). You would need to speak to retention and hopefully the right CSR will be able to assist you. I wish I could remember the nice lady that helped me.
I added the 6th line for my 10yr old son. I told them I did not want to take my business elsewhere so after some back and forth it worked out for me and they said that it has been done before.
I have 2 lines
father - 1 line
lady - 1 line
my boy/friend - 1 line
son - 1 line
AirRave - 1 line

I'm on the SERO plan so have to wait

Because I'm under a family's plan who work for sprint they said in my case I can not get any new phone on release date and I have to wait for a month ( really? ) .......so I was like "WTF, why did you guys sell my this $50 gift to use for the Epic 4g Touch?"....they was like...well, the sprint rep who sold you that card should of known when she pull up your account.....I said, yes. She should have..........now i'm stuck with a gift card and no PHONE..........F**K!

I just now spoke to the head of employee admin's boss's boss. She said every new release is like a beta test. If a week from now they hear no complain then it will be available for employee and it's people under ( me ). They doing this to protect us from buying a bad quality phone.
Sounds like you're not on a SERO plan but under a SWAC plan, employees and accounts under them usually have to wait a few days after a new release before they can order, in case stock levels become low after launch. Customers come first, employees second in high demand phones.

In case any of you wanted to switch to summary or ebill to avoid the $1.99 extra charge...

Just so everyone knows, the detailed bill is not the same as the regular bill. The detailed bill lists every phone number you called or texted. You can still receive your regular bill for free.

Detailed billing doesn't list the numbers you texted, just the calls (incoming/outgoing).
"Regular" really depends on your point of reference.
What you are describing as the regular bill is also called the summary bill.
From the Sprint blurb, even if you choose summary (paper bill), the detailed billing is still supposed to be available online.

Hahaha this and every one esle who is having a hay day with a $1.99 is hilarious in my book. Thats the equivalent of buying a cup of coffee once a month. Besides Sprint is by far the best deal around money wise. Also is the last of the big 4 that has unlimited data. It will be ok boys and girls
I've set up ebill about 4 times in the last 6 years -- somehow it keeps defaulting back to paper, which is annoying all by itself. Thanks for the heads up so I can avoid the charge and the paper!
That unlimited ship has sailed. 4GB is equivalent to unlimited for many people. Plus it works.

I promise you that in network usage wasn't the reason
Now, if they were torrenting illegal downloads or excessive roaming that would explain it.

Careful though. You may get customer loyalty first and they will try to 'solve' your issue without retentions. Loyalty will give outstanding deals but retentions can go even further.
If you are not out if contract or close to it though you may not get much.

I've been with them for 6 years but when I called them last week and said I am mad that Verizon is selling it for 199 and my upgrade cost is 329. I said I want to cancel (which I wasn't) to move to Verizon and bam. Got two S3 for 179 each and also got a mail in rebate for 50 bucks per phone. Grand total for two S3 after rebate 258.
I just feel these are reasons T-Mobile isn't fairing well. Yes we all want deals but come on. This is just whining and I feel it is ripping T-Mobile off and not making them the money they deserve to make. The S3 is $330 on T-Mobile with a mail in rebate of $50. Making it $280. Yes the other carriers have it for $199, but with their plan prices compared to T-Mobile, you are paying less with T-mobile. Saving you money over the course of your contract. I've been with T-Mobile for 7 years and have not once felt the need to call retention and lie to them about wanting to cancel and switch carriers just to save a few bucks.

Retention is there to do this. Every carrier has retention that does this. If it was that detrimental to them they wouldn't do it. The whole reason they do it is to keep you with their service so obviously it's not doing much harm.
Also some people are dishonest. That's how the world is. It's great you've never had to do this, I haven't either but some people aren't honest and some people need to save as much as they can. It happens.

T-Mobile customer service has been crap lately.
Look at the issue that I was having with them (warning: long read)
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/29215
To continue from that thread:
I had to sent in all three of my 32GB phones and went to the store and got myself 16GB Galaxy S3s which royally pissed me off because I wanted 32GB.
I'm still waiting for the credits to be posted on my account for the 32GB phones I sent back in.
Jessica on T-Mobile forum has been really helpful with my situation and immediately posted some credits on my account to lower the cost of the 16GB S3s that I had to pay out of pocket again.
I am glad that I posted on that forum because Jessica has been the one constant person that's been helping me through all these issues. She knows the situation from A-Z and I didn't have to explain it over and over again to different CSR's.
However, the fact that T-Mobile kept messing up and not registering the phones being returned to them are problematic and I, as a customer, had to pay for that. I wanted the 32GB phones but now I'm stuck with 16GB. In the future, I don't think I'll renew my contract with them and just go month to month. Or, if I do renew my contract, it will be the value plan and I'll just buy my phones from here or ebay or something. Too much hassle having to deal with T-Mobile.
10 months yo. I have a link I saved somewhere, but Google 'tips from an former t-mobile employee' should give you the link to some great info! I personally just saved close to $400 by calling into complain, with legit complaints, but hey I'm rocking a nice new phone. Plus I was able to get early upgrades on all our lines of service.
Edit: Everybody is entitled to a rebate if one is being offered!

That's one thing that frustrates me about T-Mobile. They're ALWAYS doing amazing deals for new customers but never do much of anything for existing customers. I want to upgrade my wife's line and I can get a cheap standard flip phone for free or pay $100 for an old outdated MyTouch Q (which seems like an absolute waste of using an upgrade) or pay ~$300 for a SGS3 for her.

I just added a second line to my account last Wed, and i got the S3. Friday i see the deal online and am pretty pissed that i just paid $348 for the phone and not 2 days later its $99. I call them and get tossed around all weekend and no help on being compensated for the difference. The only thing they said i could do was to send it back wait for the return process to go through, then buy a third line for that price. Complete Bull**** that they cant just credit me the difference(not including the rebate). The return process itself would take a week i was told, so i would be without a phone for 1-2 weeks. I am just shocked at their process for this. I love the S3 that i have, but come on.

I'm soo thinking about calling them back about that deal. They said there only offering it for a short amount of time for premium customers. I hit 7gb last month. I just like knowing that I have unlimited data. Can we not tether like we could with the S II? I member all I did was delete tethering provision and it worked. But they did say with the truly unlimited plan tethering is not allowed.

The main monitoring occurs on the network not the device level. Essentially they are monitoring the user agent of the outgoing traffic.
One easy way to circumvent their tethering blockage is to use a 3rd party tethering app and change your user agent on your internet browser to android or iPad/iPhone. Both Chrome and Firefox have extensions that easily let you change your user agent.
Confirmed working for me on the unlimited 4G plan using Chrome and WiFi tether.
179.99
It's worth noting for those who don't know that Bestbuy sells an upgrade to t-mobile customers for $179.99

Friday? Doesn't T-mobile run the same sales nationwide? I went in Friday and got the 16GB for $149 and got a $149 mail in rebate. Have to pay $40 tax(they tac the full price of the phone) but that's still just $40 for it.
I am pretty sure its only an online deal only... cause when I found out I couldnt get the 99 deal on mytmobile.com i called them and that's when I got the loyalty deal

Thanks for letting us know
I believe their limit is 100gb a month. Read a few post ppl getting nice letter from sprint once they reach that limit

try force roaming and tethering that much.
Why don't you pay what you owe?
Hopefully they do.
You know abusing the network to get out of your contract is not ethical, right? You're also making the network slower for others, aswel.
Lamest thread ever.
Pay your ETF or pay your bill. Quit being a shyster (which has become a common word in my lexicon after reading some posts on xda lately).
Troll bait removed.

Hopefully they will notice you have been tethering without purchasing the tethering plan and bill you at $.25/MB.

I've thathered more than 40 gigs in a day on AT&T and still could just for the lulz. Before my sister, (whose line has true unlimited unthrottled, and un-monitored data), leaves for T-Mobile I'm going to go for a new record and post it on this site.
I have a perfect system in place to royally screw AT&T every month out of spite. AT&T is a whore of a company and I do that stuff as a sort of protest.
Why would you do this to Sprint though? They did nothing to deserve this.

Exactly. If you can get 10gb/day on Sprint, you should really consider sticking with them.
Smh.... why are you canceling?

Because they lied to me about my discount. No service at home. And they won't let me out of my contract. And yes I pay my bill.

What do you mean discount? I think you can even grab an employee discount for your service. Also - try to get an Airave from retentions, it'll help the service at home.

Who lied? Have you gone back and disputed this? If it was done at the store Customer service can't do much as there's no proof to what you're claiming is true so the best option is to go back to store and vice versa. Airave does help if you qualify for one. Check www.sprint.com/airavecoverage. For your discount you have to apply through www.sprint.com/verify but nothing anyone can do in regards to the % the company you're claiming offers.

...And yet you expect people to help you "support autism awareness" ?
this......
Discount for ups. Store said I would get it then they said no because I'm on the second line. And wouldn't let me return the phones. It was at best buy. Supposed to get 22% off. Called sprint and they said it on best buy side. Went to best buy and they saying nothing they can do. So stuck.
I had a regular landline at home. And had boost. Got rid of it because i got sprint.

I remember a time when people didn't have cell phones. There were a lot less idiots in the world...and better drivers.
