I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I just recently purchased LG -P705g from Fido without contract. Now I'd like to root my phone so I can unlock my phone.I found some post on the internet and I tried but I still can not able to root. While doing this it says that your phone having current firmware.
My another question is how do I save my apps to SD card? I tried apps "apps2Sd card" but no luck so I tried method suggested in some forum by downloading android sdk but still no luck

I just bought a LG G2 (Sprint) off Amazon. Apparently, it is (Software version) LS980ZV6, which is not mentioned at all on Sprint's website. I did some googling, and saw that someone else also had the same issue on reddit.

I can't update OTA, and LG PC Suite won't detect my phone, even after installing drivers, and updating drivers through the composite (rather than MTP) way.

Did the same thing... Bought a phone off of eBay, noticed the next day it was stuck on 4.2.2. Luckily found your post.. And it worked. There's a YouTube video out there showing the step by step instructions and also a little trick to get COM port recognized.
Hello there, I just bought a second hand G3, it is on the 4.4.2 still, from what the guy said it is from europe and I am using it here on Brazil, also it is rooted.
What I want to know is, should I go back to the original fw to then check for a 5.0.x update, if yes how should I do this? Should I just go ahead and update to a custom fw, if yes what one, what are the options?
Sorry for that many questions, but looking around here there is to much info for a newbie like myself that I am not sure where to start!

I've searched a lot about my issue of g3 but can't find the solution or right answer. So I've an AT&T LG G3 which is great no doubt but I saw on the official site of AT&T that they've released the lollipop update for LG G3 on February but when I checked update through mobile it say's I've latest version of software which is 4.4.2. Software information is below

Latest firmware is v21a....and your software version is not v201 it's v20i.....hope it's help ?
ok but how do i install just a rom file from a Zip.

XDA has always been a great resource every time I visit. Hoping to get some advice.
My LG G4 recently performed a factory reset while being in my pocket during a walk. The KnockOn feature did so many bad password attempts (no idea how since the "life is good" prompt should stop this), it formatted my phone. Not only is my phone reset, but my SD card that i thought safe, was also formatted and all of my backups are gone.
So now I look to custom ROMs and rooting the device to have some fun. Only, where do I begin?

I see many threads documenting how to root 11A and 13B. But since I've received OTA since having my phone, i am on 28A. Is that correct?

You'll have to use LGUP to downgrade to LP then root using the one of many threads dedicated to that. But VS986 can't have any custom ROMs because the bootloader is locked.
