I like the default messaging app and I don't want to use a third party app because I want the direct call feature.
My problem is that the default messaging app is missing a few features. The one is the ability to remove the screen on when receiving a message and the other that you cannot remove in the notification on the status bar the content of the message of displaying.
If there is a third party app that can use direct call please let me know. If someone could make a small app as an add-on to the default messaging app I am willing to donate. I think a lot of people would find this useful.

No one? I've been asking for this everywhere and I never get an answer:-(

No. The options you see is what you get..
Direct call isn't available on any third party messaging apps at the moment that I know, nor do I think it will be in the future.
Its a trade off you have to make..
Also in the future direct your questions in the question section of the forum.

Is it just me or any one else too. Seem like there is not feature to input my signature on texting. When I tap Menu/setting there is nothing for signature. Any idea?
Using the stock text messaging app there is no option for a sig...try searching for apps in the market, you might find a third party app with a option for a sig....I use the stock app,so I can not recommend a good third party messaging app.

Handcent and Chomp are the two most famous text messaging apps try them out.
My question is: is it possible to make the stock messaging app when you receive a new message open up a window with all the message and reply back from there like the Iphone,GOsms, WINMO. If not then can someone make it possible. Currently it just notifies you on the top bar and shows the message. Just want to know if its possible. TIA

Can we make a list of apps that support Jellybean notifications, would be nice to be using apps that support it.
so far itll be all the core google apps, tunein radio, and pulse i think.
Pulse doesn't, so far all I've seen are the core apps, Tunein, and Notification Toggles. Anyone see any other apps with it?
Can you post screen shots of notifications?
I do not get gmail, extended notification nor call back/SMS for missed calls
Twoons supports Jelly Bean notifications. It's a twitter client
Imgur For Android supports it too.

Multiple gestures work. Two finger pull down, two finger rotate, and two fingers pulling apart vertically all work.
Go SMS works

How does it work on yours? It doesn't work on mine.
I think the stock SMS and Gmail apps could be doing a much better job of utilizing the new notification style. All they do is show expanded views of messages. I'd like the SMS app to give me quick access to calling the sender or deleting the message right from the notification, and Gmail should let me delete or archive messages without going into the app. The missed call notifications (where you can choose to call the person or send a message right from the notification) are how it should be done for all apps where it makes sense, and I don't know why they didn't do the same for SMS and Gmail. Maybe they will eventually.

I thought there were? Will have to double check when pulse shows up on my notification bar and report back here
Foursquare has Comment and Like actions on checkins.
Pulse definitely doesn't do it. Unless this is something in settings?

Hi all,
I have already searched for this answer but have not found an actual solution. When u text someone and I carry over into a 2nd message, my phone says converting to MMS!
Now I've recently moved to 3 was on Orange for years and I'm pretty sure my Note 2 on Orange didn't do it or my S3 I had or even other phones!
Is this a 3 issue or did it already do it on Orange and I didn't notice?
Is there a fix with the stock messaging app? I don't want to switch to go sms or handcet sms.
Cheers

I don't have my gn2 yet, but...
Is stock the standard aosp messaging app or a Samsung app? If its the pure aosp, there is a setting for splitting messages after 160 chars, which is the standard SMS limit. Is there not an option for something similar to split or keep as SMS? Just because some apps allow 160+ as SMS doesn't mean they should.
Carrier and region may have impact on this as well. More information is always helpful.

Thanks for the reply. It's a Samsung app, so there is no option for the above. I can use a 3rd party app to get round it as 3 have said it's a known issue on their network with certain Samsung phones.
I will just have to either send separate texts or get charged!

Note2 very bad in this, I am extremely disappointed with this, I'm using GOSMS until they find a solution, because the solution of S3's not right with the Note2.

I don't want to use a 3rd party app, it should be in built. Hopefully Sammy will fix it soon.

What is your client of choice? I need a pop-up window that does not get blocked by Swype keyboard. I use go sms but it makes my pictures taken in portrait mode rotate to landscape mode.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

I stick with default
I love the 90s. Good times.
I stick with the stock messaging app. What's wrong with it? Works just fine.
I use the default client but I had tried Sliding Messaging Pro for a couple of days and I loved it. Was going to keep it until I realized I can't add pictures to my texts with it. Dropped it right then and there. What a shame. Could be a perfect sms app with that (and it's a basic freaking feature).

I've been using Handcent for almost three years. Still happy with it.
At the time, the default app didn't have custom ringtones. Dunno if they ever fixed that.
Also, I despise the "talk balloon" theme. Dunno why, but it grates on my nerves, bad. Again, Handcent gives me control over that. I set it up back then and it has carried over through a phone upgrade and a recent cracked screen replacement.
Handcent was top dog when I installed it. Haven't seen any need to switch away since. It Just Works.
SMS Pop-up is a separate app, available on Google Play. It works well, but make sure you disable notifications in the stock app to avoid duplicate alerts. I've also used Handcent in the past - it's feature rich, but too bloated for me. Right now I'm using the stock messaging app in the LiquidSmooth rom. It has built in pop-up.
