Hey guys. I love my epic and appreciate the site and forums. I switched from a old winmo 6.5 htc kjam to epic 4g and everything is greato far except for 1 issue. I have these these weird dead spots where if i was to use swype, i cant complete a word that required a lot of movements to characters closeer to the edges. Its kinda unusable because once i try to slide from say a letter Z to P somehow before it reaches P. I also have issues with different apps where im unable to click a button unless i switch from landscape to portrait and vice versa mostly buttons on the edge. On cm9 i have the setting to show a little white circle when your finger is on the screen and it looks like that white circle is not able to show up precisely where im pushing. This happens mostly on the edges and affects landscape swyping and both view modes when pushiong buttons to browser links. Kind of annoying so i been using voice typing or the keyboard as i need to use ssh a lot. Could there be a hardware issue with my screen like some sensor? I dont know the anatomy of an epic 4g but i know its never been dropped. Its not a huge deal but i would like to know if this is a common problem. I think but maybe its placebo but can it be cm9 because i do recall flashing the temp el30 rom to calibrate my screen when i noticed this problem. Calibration doesnt seem to help.

Ive just bought a Desire Z and despite the infamous loose hinge, which isnt as big an issue as people make out, im loving the phone.
Just one problem, my trackpad doesnt seem to work properly!
Swiping in the y axis (in landscape) moves the cursor up and down as normal, but the x axis isnt responsive at all. If i swipe several times it might move 1 spot.
Similarly, it doesnt work in portrait (where its the y axis), so i can swipe between home screens etc but not up and down.
Is this a known issue? Is it likely a hardware or software issue?
What ROM are you using ? See my signature for what I'm running. I'm having no problem with my trackpad, works fine in both directions in portrait and landscape (e.g. on the app drawer). If you're using the same ROM as me, then I imagine it could be a faulty trackpad.
Are you doing it somewhere with bright lights though ? Just that I've seen a few people (mainly on the G2 side ?) mention problems when lights are bright and the trackpad jumping on its own. I've not had that problem myself.
Im using a stock phone, thats been rooted but the problem was there before rooting.
Its very annoying as id use the trackpad a lot.
I can't help with a solution, but I would like to add that I'm experiencing the same issue; extremely low vertical sensitivity.
Stock rom, unrooted.
Good thing I barely use it.
I got my ET4G a couple weeks ago and I've noticed that when the screen is rotated horizontally (for games), my left hand covers the light sensor and causes the screen to get darker. I could disable the auto-brightness, but I kinda like that for battery life.
So, is there a way I could get the screen to rotate in the opposite direction so my left hand isn't blocking the light sensor?
I'm running the stock rom right now, and I know I could do it on my old phone which was running CM7, but I'm reluctant to root/flash my brand new phone just yet.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Any reason you couldn't just turn it the other direction?
I realized that the screen rotation is app-dependent. Some apps, like games, only rotate one way. Oh well. It's not a huge deal.
When you push the power button and see that your screen is inverted, then.... with the screen still on, hold your phone tight and give it a hard flick of the wrist. This has worked twice for me.
Running Calkulin's 2.6, Overstew's ICS AIO, Launcher Pro
Is this working for anyone running different setups?
can anyone verify that I wasn't drunk when I wrote this? The wife says I didn' t do anything today but get ripped. I told her I helped a lot people...just not her.
I have had the screen invert once... I just rebooted...
I have also had my entire screen go magenta for some strange reason...
The screen "appears" to be inverted... but it isnt... at least not to the phone. unlock the screen with the same manner you always would even though the visual cues are wrong. What ever lockscreen you are on, just do the same motion again. then once in the normal home screen, rotate it around a few times and it corrects itself.
I know exactly what you are saying about being inverted but still fully functional....giving a shake a shake with the snap of the wrist solved the issue without playing games.
Download Spare Parts from the market and set "Window Animations" to "Fast." Haven't had the screen inversion problem since.
i had it one time and and using adw pro all i need to do is rotate my screen and it resets the orientation
Hi
I bought a new RHOD100 and am running Stock WinMo 6.5. First few days the phone worked beautiful. But about a week of usage landed me in this condition.
The screen only lights up with the keyboard is out and not tilted. Other than that, if it's slid in (portrait mode) or when it is tilted up, the screen freezes to whatever it was like when the keyboard was slid out. The touch functions work, I can hear screen tap sounds, and if I click on the right icon things open and close too, but the display remains frozen until I slide out the keyboard and/or undo the tilt.
Any ideas how to fix this? Is that hardware or software?
I have never dropped it, nor exaggerated the tilting.. Can it be the Flex cable?
Definitely hardware... almost 99.99999999% sure this issue is hardware.
I'm betting it is indeed the flex cable. If you're feeling brave, you can attempt to take the phone apart and see if you can find the issue - keep in mind, this is very delicate and tedious work. Need a steady/careful hand and a lot of space! Good tools help too .

Hi everyone.
I have recently had my screen replaced. After playing around, i quickly noticed that my keyboard screws up when i start typing.
The faster i type, the worse the problem is.
I checked touch response times and achieves normal times of about 60ms, however, i turned on touch overlay in developer settings and noticed that if i touch opposite sides of the screen quickly (to simulate typing), it would draw lines between the touches as if i was dragging between the two points.
This is what causes my keyboard to do funky stuff and heavily lag when typing fast.
Please note that this never happened before the screen replacement, and a hard reset didnt fix the problem.
Is there any software fix for this, or do i need another screen?
thanks.

I mainly work on iPhones, but it sounds like your digitizer is out of calibration. Don't know if there's a software fix for it, but hopefully this will point you in the right direction. Also I'd take it back to the place you had it repaired and see if they can fix if it's still warrantied.
