Ba-GEEZUS!!! Ordering one of these SGS3s on T-Mobile web site even at full price will extend my contract with them for two years!
What?!?!
I understand buying one at a reduced price, two year contract is needed to make up the cost, but if I wanted to buy one a full price, shouldn't they just sell me one? Without extending my contract?
BTW, I'm coming from a SGS2.

Buy it and go to straight talk/Simple mobile
Last week on T-Mobile website, I saw a discount of around $115 if I extend my contract to 2 years, but without contract extention I pay the full price. I was just 1 year through my current contract. Since I want to get the phone right away, I went to a T-Mobile store and they put me on value plan at $74.99 5GB from my previous Classic plan of $79.99 2GB. I paid $229.99+tax outright and $20 monthly payments for 20 months and my contract extended to another 2 years. Seems to me a really good deal to have 5GB plan at a lower monthly rate and the installment spread out in 20 months without interest if you are to pay full price. They also waived the $18 upgrade fee.

It really depends on a store manager on duty at the time, I have price-matched stuff below their cost before (store manager is the only one to approve of that) you just have to be nice about it.
Also yes there is the killer CA tax, but you will probably get US warranty since its sold here and if anything your CC could maybe even double it.
better be the 32gb version for that price

not a chance. US samsung will not warranty this phone as the GSM version is not officially offered in the US.
the only good thing about this is being able to return/exchange while you have your 30 day window.

Also, think I'll call the Fry's here in WA and see if they'll price match online. if I can get a price match I'd rather buy it there than wait for shipping.

And other importers will beat that by about $25-$30. Handtec is $650 shipped, Clove is $660. I think Negrielectronics is ~$656 (best price as no chance that your CC company will charge foreign trans fee).
I was able to get my upgrade early by buying out the last 6 months of my contract. it cost me 65 bucks that they bill to the account.
Radio shack has a deal right now on the nexus for 199 but you get 100 off when you trade in a old smartphone.
I ask the guy if there going to do the same with the sg3 and this is what he told me. after the first two weeks of sg3 sales there going to offer the same deal around the first week in july. I'm guessing the sunday ad will have it that 2nd sunday in july.
so I bought the nexus and got my 100 bucks off so it was only 99.99. he then had me come back today and return it but was able to transfer the credit to my pre order of the sg3. bam sg3 99 bucks LOVE IT.... but yeah now I have to wait for it.
Hope it works for anyone who try's.

Early Buyout has been going on for a while now.
I can confirm that. Sprint told me the same thing when I called to turn on caller ID blocking since they are now wanting to disclose your full name on caller ID instead of just your number.
For those of you who have done this, is it as simple as calling Sprint, buying the rest of your contract time, and then somewhere like a radio shack or best buy having it in their system that you are upgrade eligible?

I bought mine out. It had 13 or so months left on it. $135 that will be billed to my next Sprint bill.
When you call make sure to ask for account services. Otherwise you'll be bounced all over the place.
Hell of a deal considering I just sold my Epic 4G touch for 350 on craigs.
220+135+35 activation fee = 370. I got my phone for 40 bucks outta pocket YaY

I think I'm in the $125 range (eligible for upgrade May 2013), if I buy out the rest of my contract now do I have to upgrade immediately or can I let it ride awhile and see what I want to do?

My original upgrade before the $45 buyout was August 1st. They told me if I don't upgrade early by that date, they would refund the $45. Hope that helps.

Do you know when this is supposed to start?
I have had T-Mobile for quite some time now. I assumed they would follow the same pricing plan as all the other US carriers for the GS3. Not so much. They are charging $130 more for the GS3 than all the other US carriers. This is unacceptable as far as I am concerned. I might be switching to US Cellular in the near future.
While a corporation is a juristic person, they cannot die only go bankrupt.
And since T-Mobile and AOL share the same trait that they are practically invincible and timeless... big chance.
However I don't understand the point of your flame.
It's a corporate's given right to charge whatever they want for a feature, product or service (unless of course it's FRAND or otherwise restricted).
Just as it's your right to compare and choose between companies and pick your carrier.
It's like you're flaming about one grocery store selling the bread for 5p more than the store across town.
Also, if you run the numbers, you'll find its a LOT cheaper overall because the plans are so much cheaper. Just to move our 2 voice lines to minimum family plans (we've got 600+ mins now, but only use 100 or so) and basic data to AT&T was going to cost $50/mo MORE than tmob.
Also, IIRC you can go value and get it around the same price-point as other providers if you pay $20 extra a month on your bill.

Exactly. I didn't think twice about the higher price b/c of the massive discount. only thing closer is Sprint, but I won't see LTE in Denver for a year+.
Ordered my SGS3 Pebble Blue with 32 GB int. storage. I ordered by phone at 6:15 am Eastern Time. I paid with tax a little over 400 bucks.I get 50 back with mail in rebate I think. Very excited about getting this beast. Now I'm off to find a great case and there are tons available.

P.S. Would it be fair to buy only to pay +$200 ETF after month1 & go T-Mobile $30/mo prepaid plan as some have suggested?
I think the etf route would be better if you dont have to deal with rebates.

I was just looking at the offer online and the activation fee was also waived for new customers.
Does this mean I could get the phone for $200 after rebate and then pay the $200 ETF and get the phone for only $400? Sounds too good to be true, what am I missing?

Are you sure about that? ETFs are generally there to compensate the carrier for the device's subsidy/financing that the contract would have provided hence why ETF have been moving up to $350 on other carriers & why paying for the device in full without that subsidy/financing would not involve contracts on T-Mobile or AT&T..?
In any case it's not exactly fair to screw T-Mobile if they are the last major carrier to raise their ETFs trying to keep up with the rising price of many smartphones..
Still would prefer that the T-Mobile full price comes back down to $650 like AT&T currently is & how T-Mobile originally priced the Note2.

No proof, don't believe.
Just checked and it's $99 for new lines and $169.99 for add a line and $249.99 for upgrade. I would go to a best buy and see if their willing to match. Some best buys are still honoring the online retailers price match. See below for the proof. Took a screenshot of both prices.
