Ghost volume button issue on most devices
No micro sd card support
Confusing user interface
No Facebook contacts sync
No native social network widget
Can't add more home screens
Fuzzy speaker
Lock screen vibration can't be switched off
No digital clock only analog widget
Quadrant benchmark only 1500 score
Lag in many areas
No Facebook events calendar sync
Only 5m camera
THE VOLUME BUG HAS REALLY PUT ME OFF AND SAMSUNG ARE STILL TO ACKNOWLEDGE
Ghost volume button issue on most devices - Valid Concern
No micro sd card support - Shouldn't be a surprise
Confusing user interface - Seriously?
No Facebook contacts sync - Facebook's fault, not Google's
No native social network widget - Again, look at the social networks for blame
Can't add more home screens - Never been more than 5 in stock android
Fuzzy speaker - valid concern
Lock screen vibration can't be switched off - Don't have one, so can't comment
No digital clock only analog widget - Never been one in stock android
Quadrant benchmark only 1500 score - Don't have one, so can't comment
Lag in many areas - Don't have one, so can't comment
No Facebook events calendar sync - Never been in stock android OR from facebook's app
Only 5m camera - Shouldn't be a surprise
Most of this is your own fault for not knowing in advance, or isn't a valid point.
"Massive"??...thats a strong term to use. Most of your points are either things we already knew or there are other ways to circumvent, so therfore a non-issue. I think you just wanted to make a thread just to be making a thread.
+1 to the other comments.... it is in the best interest to your homework before you purchase, not the day after
The ghost volume and fuzzy speaker are the only real concerns......... and Really. . . . . How many here are going to keep this stock ??? hmmmm???
My guess the sound and volume will be eliminated when either Voodoo is adapted to this phone or some other equal
And, as far as all those other issues custom roms solve all of them
As for me, I always try to get something that has great hardware the software doesn't matter, we here in XDA will customize, make, kang or just create what we need.
Seems to me that this threads are becoming typical every time a new device hits the market more so in this case with all the hype of the Nexus. Buyers remorse, lack of due diligence? Or something else…
Other than the low volume problem, this post only proves how ignorant you are.
Previous post sums it up.
UI is fine - blame the user not the tech!
I don't have the volume issue but that would be the only concern I would point the finger at.
Making a deal about vibrate on a lock screen - what next??

Saying that there has been a "lack of due diligence" implies that people have just gone out and bought the phone with no knowledge of it whatsoever. This isn't true. I read every single hands on, preview, and article I could find on the Nexus before I bought it, and not a single one mentioned any of the problems or small annoyances we have been having. So, tell me - how has showing "due diligence" made any difference to me?
Buyers remorse? Sure, that could factor into it - but only because of the problems.
These threads are becoming more typical because the devices are getting more expensive, and we are becoming to rely on them more for our day to day life. If problems are happening, they become more of an issue to us

Not sure that setting is in Security - think its in display - and deselecting it in display has no effect on lockscreen
Then again - maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.

And also that is a lot easier to insult someone behind a monitor rather than face to face in real life.
Oh and Quadrant is one of the worst benchmarks available. Try some others like linpack / antutu / cf-bench. Eventho those are probably not optimized for ICS, they at least use multithreading etc.

I actually agree on the interface/UI. Menu key appears on some apps at the bottom some at the top some dont have it at all. Also there's no menu key on the main android screen which Paul O'Brien has modded to show that its there in the code to be used. Not sure what Google were thinking there? Same old Google for me, rushing out updates. ICS needs some polishing in my opinion. Battery life sucks still on the OS too which I would have thought they would have addressed this time around. That volume bug is a pain too, BIG ONE!
This is my opinion mind, hope Google sort these things out.

If you're talking about what i think you're talking about then that is actually intended to be like that.
Apps that use the keyboard (Such as messaging, gmail, maps, etc.) all have an action bar where, amongst other things, the menu is that the bottom. When you start using the keyboard, the action bar is removed, and the menu button is then moved to the upper right side of the corner.
Of course, any other app developer can put this wherever they like, and for the apps not currently compatible with this type of menu they have the "compatibility" menu in the software buttons.
As for, what i assume you mean the launcher, it's possible that there is still code for it in ICS to be compatible with older phones that may be upgrading to ICS but will have the 4 capacitive buttons instead, including the menu button.

No, the Milestone is not fully stock Android but it's close. The launcher is slightly different as you've seen.

Try TeslaLED. It has some features that don't work, but the simple LED flashlight works great for me.
Cool, I'll check it out. Thanks!
hmm, ive never had a problem with TF, but there are others. Be careful as its an easy target app for malware authors.
I got rid of Tesla LED after long running problems. Tiny Flashlight works well for me. Even stays on when screen goes off and locks. Tesla did not.
The dev for Tiny Flashlight explains all the permissions in the description of the app on the Android Market.
For me Tiny Flashlight beats the pants off Tesla LED on my Epic.

I'm the developer of Tiny Flashlight. Sorry for the constant updates. I'm improving the app with every update, but usually not all devices are affected and that's why you won't see new features or fixes on your device. For example, in the latest update I've added support for variable led brightness on most new HTC devices (and this doesn't affect Epic 4G).
At the end of this week I'll release a new version which will fix a long standing bug, which makes the app freeze on some devices like LG Thrill 4G, and this again won't affect Epic 4G, but it's very important to be released for the LG Thrill users.
I'm trying to keep the updates as low as possible (currently 3-4 per month), but I can't promise to lower this number more (at least not in the next couple of months), because I'm preparing some big improvements, which I want to push in several small steps - this helps track problems faster and the fixes are ready for the next update.
All this makes Tiny Flashlight one of the higher-quality apps on the Android Market.
For every update there is a detailed changes log, which you can see before updating - again in the android market app. Here's the changes log for the latest version (v3.9.9.13):
* Fixed widget size on Android 4.0
* Widget didn't start the light every time on Galaxy Nexus. This is fixed
* Fixed screen flicker on Galaxy Nexus after pressing the widget
* Added variable led brightness on almost all HTC devices
* Added support for XENON based devices (using the auto-focus LED) - Motorola XT701, XT711, XT720 and added Strobe Light support
* Color and Bulb lights brightness is now persistent
* Fixed main interface frame on Android 4.0
As for the permissions - I'm pasting you the relevant part from the app description:
Flashlight Permissions:
============
Why Tiny Flashlight needs so many permissions and how are they used:
* TAKE PICTURES AND VIDEOS (CAMERA permission)
- In order to start the camera led (flash) on some devices, Tiny Flashlight has to use a small part of the camera hardware and it needs this permission. Don't worry, I'm not taking any pictures or videos without your permission. Tiny Flashlight is just accessing the camera led (flash).
* CONTROL FLASH LIGHT
- This is the old method of accessing the camera flash on Android 1.5 and 1.6.
*** As you know, Tiny Flashlight is free, but also is one of the best supported apps on the Android Market. Currently, this is the only app that supports almost all devices with camera led (flash) and fully supports all versions of Android (1.5, 1.6, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 3.0). This takes huge amounts of time and effort and in order for Tiny Flashlight to remain the best flashlight on the market, I have to use ads inside it.
The following permissions are required by Google's own ad provider (Admob) and Millennial Media (the biggest independent ad network). Both are respected industry leaders.
* INTERNET
- Used to load ad info from their servers. Nothing more.
* MODIFY/DELETE USB STORAGE
- Temporary caches some ads on your SD Card. This method is used to save bandwidth.
* READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY
- Some Motorola devices have factory bugs. These devices don't have unique IDs and this became a problem for ad networks, because they can't function without it. There is a workaround for this problem by using the PHONE IDENTITY permission. This permission is used only for getting a unique id. Nothing more.
Tiny flashlight has been the best since the epic came out
It it has just got better and better i love all the light options and love the strobe light lol, (beware tho make sure u ask someone if they have seizures cause it will cause one LOL)

+1 on that. And, welcome to XDA for OP - there's plenty to learn here TSM EKB Evolution 2.0 has been released, just d/l & follow best practices to set it up - might be slow downloading from server (took 1+ hour last night.) OP should be pleasantly surprised - give it an extra minute or two to finalize the initial bootup and basics are setup, including WiFi for faster access to market/store & apps.
Running mine on the "X" configuration for VZW since last night - with some optional tweaks (I always try to keep it as close to original ported configuration as possible to avoid FC & surprises) - very good battery life so far. There is a recommended patch on fixing the issues with camera flash timing (including WiFi ??) after applying Nit's camera fix, give that a try after making a backup first.
Google Map/Navigation, Bluebooth & other important "phone" features are working - would love to use FB, YT & Twitter too but they aren't mission critical to me for any smartphone - Gmail & Mail accounts sync. properly and SMS coming thru - web browsing is good. The camera & video features are good for those quick, instant "Kodak" moments but aren't core/key features that I consider essential for rating this or other devices a top choice, YMMV.
There are reasons why the pros continue to select and use dedicated products from Canon, Nikon, Sony & others for digital photography and videotaping ... Just my 2 cents
By no means am I taking credit for this. I have copied this over from the 9505 with permission from IRONMAN link to original thread
I will be maintaining this thread over here.....
As said per IRONMAN:
Hello, everyone. I have decided to make this Recommend-An-App thread so that YOU can share your favorite apps with everyone in this community.
****BUT THERE IS ONE CONDITION NO SUPER POPULAR APPS****
Don't post apps like PowerAMP and Flipboard and Swiftkey. EVERYONE knows about these apps.
The purpose of this thread is to make everyone aware of new apps which are largely unheard of. Apps which are not so popular. I was too tired of seeing numerous lists full of apps I already knew about.
So everyone, start posting! A brief summary would be appreciated (Unless the name is self-explanatory) as well as a PlayStore link (we all are too lazy to search for ourselves)
I will try to keep this list as up-to-date as possible.
1) Atom Launcher- A great launcher with many options for customization while maintaining a minimalistic look. I personally recommend Typo Black Theme to go along with it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...GwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5kbHRvLmF0b20ubGF1bmNoZXIiXQ..
Typo Black Theme- https://play.google.com/store/apps/...oZXJleC50aGVtZS5OYW11U01vZGVyblR5cG9CbGFjayJd
2) WordWeb - In my opinion, THE best dictionary out there. Why? Because its offline. Doesn't require an internet connection!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...53b3Jkd2Vic29mdHdhcmUuYW5kcm9pZC53b3Jkd2ViIl0.
3) Wallbase - I've tried 'em all and nothing has helped me find better wallpapers than this app. And most of them are full HD.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jaXRjLndhbGxiYXNlIl0.
4) LyricsPlayer - This app shows a notification on the status bar when you're playing music, clicking on it automatically searches for the lyrics and displays them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...EsImNvbS5saW5rLmFuZHJvaWQubHlyaWNzcGxheWVyIl0.
5) Holo Compass - The most minimalistic and cool looking compass around.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsInBsLnN1cml4LmhvbG8uY29tcGFzcyJd
6) Circle Alarm - A holo themed and minimalistic alarm app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS50amVhbm5pbi5hbGFybSJd
7) Node- Just a super cool live wallpaper
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5zdWZmaWNrLm5vZGUiXQ..
8) Pimp My Music - This is great for fixing up the ID3 tags in your songs and for finding all the right cover art.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImF1LmNvbS5waWNrdXAucG1tIl0.
9) T.E.A.M. Battery Bar - This displays a coloured bar on top of the status bar showing the battery level (remember MIUI?). A must have for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuYmF0dGVyeWJhciJd

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jZWxsdGljay5sb2Nrc2NyZWVuIl0.
11) ConvertIt - Another holo themed and minimalistic app, this one is a unit converter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=42539176
12) Phone Addict - This great little app counts how many times I check my phone. Over a period of time, shows the day I checked my phone the most times, the least times, and how often I check on average.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...5wYW5kdXRlY2hub2xvZ3kucGhvbmVhZGRpY3RmcmVlIl0.
13) Llama - For me this app is a MUST HAVE. I'll explain how it works. Basically, when you're at home or at work, your phone is getting signal from multiple cellphone towers nearby. What this app does is remember these towers and triggers certain profiles when they are in the vicinity. So, when I reach home, my phone automatically turns silent and when none of these towers are in range i.e. when I'm outside, it automatically increases the ring volume. You'll have to let it scan once, of course.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rZWJhYi5MbGFtYSJd
14) Godville - This is a super simple game. You are God and you create your hero and lead him on quests etc. Superb time-killer.

15) Plasma Sound HD - This is a super cool app which lets you create music which is visually stunning too. Try it out yourself.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...mNvbS5yai5wcm9jZXNzaW5nLnBsYXNtYXNvdW5kaGQiXQ..
16) Sensor Music Player - A music player which lets you use various sensors to change track, pause etc. For example, if I'm using my headphones and my phone is in my pocket, I can just tap my pocket to change the track. Pretty cool. eh?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...2JpbGVfaW5mb2dyYXBoaWNzX3Rvb2xzLm15ZHJpdmUiXQ..
20) Pew Pew - It is a retro style arcade game which is one of my all time favourite mobile games. Must try.

This app lets you lock the ringer, or any other volume, in a specific spot.

Full Screen Caller ID - It delivers just what it sounds like it's promising. It puts a full screen HD picture as the call screen instead of the stock Android one. There are 5 or 6 other apps that do the same thing but I've been using this one since I had a MyTouch3G when it was the only one of it's kind available and I couldn't live without it now. It's very customizable so you can make the screen look pretty much anyway you want for an incoming call and set whatever picture you want for each person in your address book. It also makes answerign and ignoring easy as you can swipe across any part of the screen. See the atatchement for what one of my friend looks like on an incoming call...you can add the phone number, make it landscape, change the font or text size, add answer and reject buttons or take them away as I have etc etc etc. And you can get to the original phone app with the dial pad and what not with a simple double tap on the screen.
I've never been able to figure out why this isn't stock with Android personally. That's how much I love this app.
