com.htc.android.ssdtest - HTC One X

Got this Apps from an RC build of the One X .
Anyone interested in making it work on release builds?
It has many interesting testing tools and an option for controling how many CPUs will be used , at what speed and voltage .

Works on release builds. Just extract and install as its still signed by HTC. Has some interesting stuff. Dev should def look into it. But users be aware there's some thing better left untouched

well pushing as a system app does absolutely nothing
installing as app gives SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE
RD-MIUI based on latest 2.05

I get an "Application not installed" error when i try to install it on the same device , running now on a release build (1.29.401.11 to be exact) with the device being rooted .
Did you just install it right away and got it working?
Granted , some of the available options can really mess the phone
I am guessing the kernel of the build i got it from ( 1.17.401.0 ) allowed voltage control although it would never go above the level running at 1.4GHz among other things .
Also unlocks the bootloader every time i flash it to my device .

Well I'm on maximus with faux kernel. First I pushed to /system/apps but then decided to try and install. Installed fine. Might need to push then install. Mostly test features but some look extremely useful.

Probably does not work with a stock kernel . I have extracted the Rom from the ruu executable and will upload it somewhere tomorrow . I believe there should be more usefull stuff in the way some elements of the Rom are written like the ulocled bootloader which is then locked again by just flashing a newer version and the kernels overvoltage ability . If there is a way to be installed on a stock Rom , rooted one of course would be of great use . The ability to show the CPU temperature on overlay is quite interesting and shows when the throttling starts.

What do you mean in regards to the unlocked bootloader?
CPU setting look good. It's possible to set the CPU to only use one core

The bootloader on this Rom is unlocked by default you don't need to do anything to get it unlocked . When you flash a newer version it gets locked and then unlocked again when you flash this Rom back to the phone . So HTC must have another way to unlock and lock it , one that probably someone could find inside this Rom to be able to use it in other ways . Along all that the Rom is pre rooted .

doesn't work on charmeleon 5.0 rom. restarts com.android.phone

Can you provide the file you flashed? So let me get this straight you were running a stock Rom (1.29.XXX.11) with a ***LOCKED*** bootloader. You ran the 2.05 file (RUU I'm guessing) and your bootloader changed to ***UNLOCKED***
Is that correct?

I just stated the fact that this RUU unlocks the bootloader and any newer flashed afterwards locks it again . Still when you flash this one back the bootloader gets unlocked again .

[Q] Unbranding HOX without S-OFF

Hi everybody,
I know this sounds like the tipical question and up until some days ago, I thought I had the answer too....
But reading some posts lately, I now have a doubt and I really wanted to ask this directly:
Is it possible to unbrand an HOX (3 UK), even if we don't have S-OFF yet?
I thought that, being that without SOFF the radio wouldn't be accessible, it would not be possible to completely unbrand anything....
But then in some recent post someone mentioned that in the HOX the radio is in the ROM so it can be actually overriden....
So, if I unlock through htcdev, and install any of those ROMs based on newer RUUs and Radios, will it work? The radio too?
Any downside to this approach? (beside warranty, of course)
Thank you for the clarifications....
No it is not possible to flash a different RUU without S-OFF
You can run custom, though
I cant find the way to ask a question so i will ask here ...... I want to update my evo 3d to 4.0 , i finished downloading successufly but when i try to install it the phone powers off and takes me to bootloader menu(that i unlock it then relock it) i reboot the phone but
The update dosent appear ...helppp

Ok, so this is what I knew....but what will the custom rom override the radio??
3UK phone have specific radios, I think, so what if I install a custom rom based on a newer RUU with a newer radio? What wil it happen??
Thank you!

Somebody will correct me if i'm wrong but I am 99% sure that the radios are the same fot 3uk as for any other provider. The radio's are provided by htc.
Custom rom's will be fine, the only thing that you can't do brandwise is sim unlock until s-off is achieved.
you can unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, install root, change CID, restore stock recovery, relock bootloader and install unbranded RUU
I did this on two One S and the procedure is the same for the One X

Won't work, people have tried and failed. Something to do with the tegra 3 and new security measures implemented by HTC. You can edit the cid but on reboot it will be back to normal

I don't have the technical reasons to hand ( something to do with the partitions being different I think ) but it's all down to this being tegra3 based
In the general forum the is a massive thread where this has been discussed many time.

I think he is referring to the new Software Update to Android 4.0.4, which he put as the title for the forum post.
I just upgraded from my old Cappy today to the One X and (foolishly) installed the software update, unaware that it would prevent me from rooting. I'm quite bummed out now. I feel like my dreams have been shattered.
You can still root it, if your bootloader is unlocked just flash CWM and then the SuperSU zip package - but I think you guys might be in the wrong forum as the Tegra 3 One X hasn't had 4.0.4 yet
Unfortunately the united states version of the htc one x is unable to have the bootloader unlocked.

Hello everybody,
Today I have updated my htc1X, and now my OS's version has changed to 4.0.4. Unfortunately, now my phone is not rooted. However it's bootloader is unlocked but when I go to Recovery from fastboot menu I just see it's default interface.. I have installed supperSU application but still have not root access..
I think, we have to wait for a new version of revolutionary or update from there to solve this issue..
omg... just install root as told everywhere. just to install the superSU from the playstore doesnt work. just use the search-function and u'll get the info u want! :silly:

[How to] Boot ALL Jellybean sense roms on cid unsupported devices

General Information
Since everything here is on fire because of the sense jellybean leaked firmware and many are crying that they do not have the appropriate CID to flash the new firmware, and some also replied to my post they are not able to boot with that UNOFFICAL and BETA METHOD i decided to write this short guide.
At first, i do not think that the rom flashed with this method is working as a daily for you, more a preview for when the devs found a way to bring the update also to carrier branded phones.
Things that are reported to work with trips 3.4.11 kernel but not with his 3.1.10 kernel are:
- Usb storage ( )
Things that will not work are:
- Sound
- Youtube App
- Wifi Dropouts, not for me but another person mentioned it
This method does not update your hboot. So you´re safe to go back. And one more time, this is just meant as a preview for now, so dont expect the full jellybean experience. be lucky that we have trip and can at least boot this
So here will be the general instructions for all jellybean sense roms.
1. Download your favourite jellybean sense rom and put it on your sdcard
A few of them:
ARHD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562603 (not available for now)
IC: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588669
Maximus: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601543
Ordroid: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1836919
2. Download trips kernel from here: http://tripndroid.bindroidroms.com/TripNDroid_RVISED_3.4.11-002.zip put one copy on your phones sdcard and one on your pc
3. Repack trips boot.img found in the previously downloaded .zip with the ramdisk from the kernel which is included in your rom that you downloaded in the first step using this nice little tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1815607
Put the repacked boot.img in your fastboot folder
4. Boot your phone into fastboot mode and flash the repacked boot.img you downloaded using following commands
------> fastboot flash boot boot.img
------> fastboot erase cache
5. after this boot into custom recovery and perform a full wipe (including system, data, cache, dalvik)
6. flash your rom (just in case: tick none of the options in aroma)
7. flash modules from trips kernel which you placed in step 2 on your sdcard
8. boot into your jellybean preview.
Credits to shnizlon for the rom, to TripNRaVeR for his 3.1.10 kernel that offers this possibility , finally to chrisoverson for online repacker
I´m not responsible for anything you do to your phone!

Hi a few people have confirmed that it works, but there are some bugs as stated in the op, so you can give it a try to see what all the fuss is about and so that you don't have to feel totally left out, but currently it can't really be used as a daily driver

Already try it one the day 2.0.0 out.. but the most i hate is no in call sound.
about sd bug, I think it is because of vold.fstab, as the sd mount is different as ICS, that why it not detected in JB.
I tried this last night, and YES it does work.
However it's pretty unusable and i ended up flashing back to viperX. Still it was nice to sample Jelly Bean.

Every JB sense rom boot using trip kernel, just repack it and flash.. Already try all JB ROM, but no fun for me, as it is too buggy for unsupported CID.

[Q] One X root - Advice please

I have received an upgrade from my network - Three UK - htc One X
I rooted my unlocked Evo 3D previously, but reading into One X root, I'm finding conflicting information and no straight forward solutions. I have had 2 software updates already - 4.0.4 now. Sense 4.1
Does it matter that I have these updates and that the phone came from the carrier?
Anyone know the best way to get it rooted, so that I can backup the stock Rom before choosing a custom?
Thanks
Altermatik83
UK
Please explain what you want ? Are on complete stock and want to update or are you on a custom rom and want to update ?
And is there still an update available or did you update it to the latest 4.0.4 sense 4.1 ?
I'm a little confused reading your text !
Update 4.0.4 comes with sense 4.1 this is one update not 2 separate updates !
Please give the proper info so i can help you with this
If you want to root you must unlock via HTC dev first . And second there are devs that has made it easy for you .there's apps in the dev section that will do it all for you here's one i found for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604439 and once you install your recovery you would want to make a back up of your stock Rom

It doesn't have to be rooted to flash recovery from fastboot. Does it power down and charge? I'd buy it. Probably needs just a rom and boot.img like others have said. Every chance a noob had it and got out of his depth and thought it was bricked.

It's the rom that is rooted. So you can flash one that is already rooted or flash one that isn't and root after, it's up to you. Main thing is to get some charge in it first.

The phone says unlocked in the top line so you're good to go. You must flash a recovery while you are in BL screen and you need PC to flash it.
Then, with recovery, you can install any ROM you want. The ROMs are pre rooted so you don't have to root separately.
Hope this clears things up. Buy the phone already!!

ohooo
I got the background story
The guy who now have the phone buy it from somebody WITHOUT anything. Just the device.
After 2-3 week, it's started freezing and be slowly. So he do a reset from the settings.
After that the device ain't no turn on.
I think it have an instable costume rom and after reset it's crashed and now it don't have rom on it, it's possible?
like cjm1979 not the phone is rooted...the rom is rooted...i don't know why all are saying to unlock phone that this is rooting...rooted is only the rom to get full access....for that we need unlocked bl...this phone is already unlocked...if you can't boot in recovery because there isn't custom recovery then flash one ...then go in flash a rom and the boot.img via fastboot...but make sure the phone has over 30 % ...if not it wont flash anything...
