Not sure if it's possible but is there a way to port the S Beam feature from GS3? I would love to see a CWM flash for this. I've been able to acquire just about every other feature and app that the GS3 offers.

Isnt S-beam Wi-Fi Direct + android beam something like that mix together but S-beam flaw is that they have ot be right next to each other
Not right next to each other but basically if you have s beam and you open a photo in your gallery , for example, if you tap the phones together it automatically transfers the file. But once they've tapped it has the range as android beam for the duration of the transfer.

i kinda want S-beam since it has the ability to transfer pictures and files too, instead of just web pages and app links.
for some reason i thought that stock android beam had the ability to transfer pics but when i tried it to do it with my girlfriends gs2, it kept sending me to the market to download the launcher i had on one of the phones.

S-voice can run
and im sure if its not ported someone will make if its what good but its not to good to sell a phone only on software like some( I ) places
I'm rather sceptical about S Beam on our device;
S Beam uses Near Field Communication (NFC) which is an internal hardware absent from the GS2.
It also combines with the use of Wi-Fi Direct but that's only for use to transfer larger files without needing to continue placing S3s back-to-back when the connection has been established.
Please advice me if I made a mistake somewhere; I'd love to know more.

Think you are wrong about the S2 not having NFC....
You are wrong, s ii does have nfc. When I held my phone up to a friends gs III her phone vibrated indicating it detected it, but my phone lacked the software to receive the file.

tags is a stock app for nfc tagging... there are plenty of other apps on the market for better n simpler interfaces for file transfer management...
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
I am aware that there are other ways to transfer files. Android beam relies solely on NFC where s beam uses NFC for the phones to identify each other and initiate the interaction but actually carries out the transfer via wifi. NFC is very slow and was not intended to move large files and the devices must remain in close contact for the entire transfer. S beam is the fastest and easiest way to move large files from one device to another without pairing or otherwise linking two devices or resting them on top of each other.

The S-Voice apk was just posted in the S3 area http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26293573&posted=1#post26293573
I've installed it on my GNEX and it installed fine, made it through the tutorial as well, but it crashed when I tried to change the wake up phrase. Anyone care to give it a shot at making it work? I was going to start with something simple like editing build.prop but I can't seem to find any info on what the S3 is listed as.
It's now working perfectly!! Nex7er in the Note forum discovered if you install the app from system/app it works perfectly and I can confirm it runs perfect on the nexus!!!

I installed on latest CM9 nightly, no issues here. I installed it normally without being in system folder.
Edit:
Seems too clunky and pointless/useless. I can do all those commands by tapping the screen manually and I'll know they are correct rather than relying on a sketchy voice to text algorithm.

To each his own I guess. As a guy with only one arm I can state for me, it is MUCH easier and faster to say "new dental appointment, June 5th at 9am and then confirm with yes then it is to:
open apps, select calendar, click the month view tab, flip to June, click on the 5th, select "new" on the 9am tab and then type out dental, etc...
Running bamf/jamesbond and get a force close on it
Cleared data on it and reloaded... Skipped trying to set a new wakeup and it will go through to asking me "which app do you want to open "
Unfortunately no matter what I say she comes back with that same line.
Of course, restarted again and didn't bother to wake her up... And now commands work.
Tried and seems to work pretty good

Can confirm that adding appointments and checking weather work though.
Timer will work as far as countdown, but doesn't seem to hook into any vibrate/ring function to notify you when it finishes.
It took me a few tries, and I only got it to install by skipping the setup part of it. The apk claimed I already had s voice installed. And, when I went to remove it, because it crashed despite installing it from system/app, it only gave me the option to remove updates. I'm running stock ROM and kernel. Unfortunately, I don't see how to get to settings for it, so I'm stuck calling it "Hi Galaxy!"
Here is a copy of the APK if anyone wants it
Been using it for quite some time, actually. It's been called into Axiom roms for awhile now.

If the alarm worked - it'd be fastest to set alarm that way.
Also, the timer would be nice if it actually did something when the countdown finished.
Little things like that I could see it handy for... plus for answers you'd look up on google, could be quicker to answer at times.

If I use stock 4.1.1 and stock 4.1.2, I can see and install Photoshop Touch.
Anything other than stock, including using CM10 or AOKP roms, then I can see but cannot install Photoshop Touch with a message saying it is incompatible with my rom.
My solution was to install an old apk of the software (found on the web, any will do). Then, since I actually bought the app, it simply proposed me to update through the Store.

I must be doing something wrong. Attempted the same thing, I'm not rooted nor do I currently wish to be (long story there, I'll leave my Xoom to be the rooted one for now) but as it stands, this did not work for me.
Upon installation on 4.1.2, the market recognized Adobe Proto and Adobe Ideas were installed. I cannot get these to update via the store since they are still seen as incompatible with my Nexus 7. Great...
And I paid for those two.
[edit]
Just had an email response from Google Play regarding the purchase of the app and subsequently being unable to reinstall after a factory reset.
Here is what they wrote:
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for writing back. I do see that you've done a factory data reset. I'm sorry to hear you're still experiencing this issue. Apparently you were able to download the app before but it is correct that the app isn't actually compatible with the Nexus 7.
If you're still not able to find a certain app, please keep in mind apps that aren’t compatible with your device are hidden when you search for them on Google Play. Developers of Android apps can choose to filter devices based on a variety of criteria, including Android OS version, carrier, location, or even screen size. According to our records, Adobe Photoshop Touch is incompatible with your device because it doesn't match the developer's specifications on for the device's screen density.
Because you were able to purchase this app and are now unable to use it, I've gone ahead and filed this refund request on your behalf - you'll receive another email within 14 business days confirming that the request has been processed.
Thanks in advance for your patience, and if you have additional questions or if you don't receive a second email with this confirmation, please let me know.
Regards,
Eddie

I spent two+ hours last night trying to spoof my N7 as various compatible tablets so I could download it, and succeeded only in soft-bricking (fixed by reflashing OTA).
It looks like Google has closed some/all of the loopholes that used to allow you to fool the store. Nothing I tried worked.

My biggest hold back on installing CM10 or AOKP was the lack of Cell Broadcasts built in. But low an behold I was able to restore it from a Titanium Backup. I figured I'd go ahead and share it here for all. And maybe for myself if I ever lose it!
This for sure installed on AOKP. At least it installed, I'll have to wait until Wednesday when they do the test to confirm it works.
To install (this is old, the link at bottom has a flashable zip.):
1. Copy the "CellBroadcastReceiver.apk" into "/system/app"
2. Change the permissions to "rw- r-- r--"
3. Restart
It wont be a normal app, but it should appear under Settings --> More... --> Cell broadcasts

It may not be for everyone. But for me, in Arkansas, I find it useful for Tornado warnings. The AMBER alerts are good too. Apps use data and GPS, thus killing your battery. This is a more stable system than some app. Most of the time my phone's WiFi is connected to some shoddy open Linksys router and in and out of proper data service anyway.
Cell Broadcast is like receiving a free text. Good for those on limited data plans, or those that need to be safe!

I think this was standard on the STOCK build, I can not remember since I rooted and flashed CM10 nearly the same day I got the phone. The point of this as the OP states is that once you flash CM10 you lose this functionality. He provided a way to recover that functionality.
Why does this get stripped out when they build the ROMs? I can't imagine anyone actually thinking it'd be a good idea to remove this, is it an oversight?
Cell broadcasts are true broadcasts, so there are no network overload issues when sending them out.
And they work as soon as there is coverage. If you are roaming somewhere without data, the broadcasts will still work.
Doesn't Google Now have something like this built in?
"Public Alerts" card? ... I do remember when a hurricane was coming to NYC, I never received any alerts. Although I was told by some people, it was in text messages.
Thanks to the OP for the app, obviously some people wanted it.
I find this funny though because my parents and I spent xmas weekend trying to figure out how to turn this crap off on their iphones, never did find a way, fortunately my n4 (stock at the time) did not have this annoyance.
This should be a flashable zip, with an addon.d script to keep it alive between ROM updates. I suppose I'll make a zip for myself.

I look on the play store via the desktop browser to check out devices...and sure enough it shows a Galaxy Nexus. I try some random apps in the market that show device information...sure enough it shows Galaxy Nexus.
So...my question...is why did my Gs3 suddenly decide to be a Galaxy Nexus?
I apprently now have a NexS 4 hybrid

Alter your build.prop with root explorer (only thing I'll ever use for it)
open the ROM you flashed and look at the build.prop on there and see what it says. Should say SGH-I747. You can easily change it back but make sure you make a copy of the current one before you alter it.
ro.product.model=SGH-I747
ro.product.brand=ATT
ro.product.name=d2att
ro.product.device=d2att
I actualy used a mod that did somethign like this once on my kindel fire and it allowed me to access other apps and stuff.
Ahhh I did use the wallet installer! That must be it

That's it. Just change it back and you are good to go.

Will this cause Wallet to explode? (not work?) Because that worries me.

It shouldn't. The only thing it will affect in the future with wallet is if you try to activate an additional card. Each time you need to activate a card for use on Google Wallet, you'll need to re-edit your build.prop back to the current nexus values.

Most people recommend Root Explorer's built in text editor. I'm not sure if it's free. I personally use the built in text editor in Solid Explorer. Solid has a 30 day free trial if Root Explorer isn't free. I wouldn't use anything other than those two. People have reported bad things with other text editors.
