USB-Stick - 3g Modem on - restart - Gen9, Gen10 General

Hello,
I have an USB-Stick in the USB-Port for the 3g-Modem. It works. But when I set the 3g-Modem on (in setting) the tablet restarts after a few minutes. When I watch a film from the usb-Stick, it does not restart, but when I am reading a pdf file from the usb it happens that it restarts after some time. And when I do nothing with the tablet, with usb stick and 3g on then it restart everytime after a few minutes.
I have an Archos 80 g9 8gb. I have this problem with evry ICS rom. I do not know about HC.
It is very annoying, because i would like to use the USB-Stick without any problems.
Does somebody have the same problem? Is there a workaround for this problem???

Hi
This could be any number of things, Have you tried other Usb Sticks? Different PDF Files etc, it could be just a bad/corrupt stick
You probably want to add more info so folks can get a proper idea of your problem First I would hook it up to your computer and install the android sdk. you can then get the logs and kernel info using adb logcat and adb shell dmesg. logcat especially will allow you watch what the system is doing as it crashes.
Hope that Helps

[Working] Porting of PSFreedom to blackstone

Credits to Kakaroto and Diamond development team.
Since Internals of diamond2 and blackstone are quite similar, this release for Diamond 2 is working fine on Blackstone.
I'm just putting together what I've gathered from different sources on XDA-Developers, other sites and my own expirence on 1st post so that people don't have to wade thru numerous posts to get the solution.
Enjoy!!
I've installed Android 2.2 (FroYo) On HTC [03 Sep 2010] (V1.6)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732362
Instructions :
http://psfreedom.com/wiki/HTC_HD_Blackstone_(Android)
Download one of the following files
http://uploading.com/files/ce8125aa/PSfreedom-HTC-Touch-Pro1-2-et-Diamond-1-2.zip/
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=21QCE6QO
Instructions
Install Xandroid 2.2
Extract archive & copy content to your SD Card (zImage / modules)
Run Haret with USB connection on your computer
Disconnect USB from your PC once Xandroid is booted
Run Terminal Emulator from DevTools on Android
Type the following command :
command #1 : su
command #2 : cd sdcard
command #3 : insmod psfreedom.ko
command #4 : exit
command #5 : exit (at this point Terminal Emulator will stop responding, but don’t worry)
Plug it in powerless PS3 (FAT should be turned off from the power switch, SLIM’s power source should be disconnected)
Plug in Slim, or in case of FAT flip the power switch on.
PS3 Power on and eject button ritual (It should be 2-3 beeps when eject button is pressed, else you'll have to switch off PS3 and start the ritual again)Also make sure that nothing else is plugged into another USB port.
PS3 will take 3-5 seconds before showing up anything on the screen.
Enjoy your jailbreak’d PS3
Btw if anyone is interested in backing up there games and playing them from hdd , use this patched psfreedom.ko
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=E2J6E55H
Unknown USB Device error:
If you are getting "Unknown USB Device detected" it means "Jailbreak" did not work
probable reasons:
1. check your firmware, make sure you are on 3.41 and automatic updates as well as login to PSN is disabled.
2. Console should be started from powerless state.
3. Some other USB device was attached while booting PS3 besides the Blackstone. Remove the ext HDD or USB stick and try again.
4. Timing were not correct , try it again. Should hear 2-3 short beeps when eject button is pressed after the power button.

I've formatted my HDD (FAT32)
I've downloaded a game, there's 2 maps in there PS3_Game and PS3_Update
I though I should make 1 folder with those 2 maps, and that map into the GAMEZ folder.
But when I go in to backup manager the only game I see is Mafia 2, and that's because the disc is inserted
Anyone got a working link to the "patched" .ko? Looks like it's been removed.
Is there a way to downgrade the firmware of my ps3? I need to do it because yesterday I updated the firmware and just today I saw it was already crackable with my blackstone with froyo 2.2...
I suppose, I'll just have to wait for a new release of of PSFreedom for 3.42 ps3 firmware...
didnt work !..
i did every stpe
the ps3 firmware 3.41, Xandroid 2.2 and already copied the content to the sdcard but nothing happend !?
anyone try it and work?
can anyone post video tutorial?
I disconnected the internet cable before starting and make the process. Maybe help.
Success!!! The other psfreedom.ko totally worked for playing downloaded games.
First I had a game inserted, and when I pressed the Eject button there were no beeps. Take out the game, en start the process again (powercord out/power button) etc
Maybe that helps
Only bad thing is that you have to do it everytime you want to play.

Very happy for you Thominho It gives me hope !
I will test once arrive in my house because last night i gave up...
I tried 10 times to jailbreak, following all the steps describe by Sunish (nice wiki) but each time i got the same USB error message :/ Crap...
Tried this yesterday and it DOES work. But after I reboot the PS3, I a having trouble reactivating it.
Will document my findings. Reloading Android now.
I think, although I'm not positive, you have to boot Haret everytime connected to a PC.
If you dont, it doesnt seem to work. Is this correct?
Damn! I got it working and thought this would be a solution to my BD drive dying so i could play my old games - seems it requires you to have a real game inserted which in my case i can't as the BD drive wont recognise them anymore
first of all, sorry my english...
FINALLY.... yes... FINALLY, before 10 or 20 times and nothing.
I saw in a forum that if we conect the phone to pc, after the line code in terminal "insmod psfreedom.ko" we will see that pc will recognize a hub usb.
so,i did conection phone to pc, when work in terminal was finished, and he recognized a hub usb. Done
I connected the phone in ps3 and ready to go.....
for me it's the only way that put to work, without this step doesn´t worked for 10 or 20 times. in all case, i have to try 1 ou 2 times and be faster in eject button, but is better than not worked.
Howcome both maps are empty after putting the PS3 on?

That's supposed to. Get a USB stick/hard drive with the backup manager in it. Then you should see the file in one of the folders

Thanks dizzyman that worked fine for me after following your method. Great stuff guys, good job.
Phone must be connected to pc/laptop with activsync when android is booted. it leaves the USB hardware in some different state which makes the exploit possible.
once android is booted, its usb will remain in active state. even after disconnecting from pc, the power led will still be orange.
the .pkg files that are to be installed must be in the root of the usb stick or hdd
Its not necessary to have the disc inside PS3 when booting, but will certainly be required when playing a game.

[SOLVED] How to monitor the log via USB debugging?

Hi,
is there any way to monitor what's going on within the system via USB debug? Like reading the logs or so? Heck, I would even go so far as to dive deep into the system via a runtime debugger?
Background is, that my One V keeps constantly rebooting when I have a SDcard (32GB/Class 10) in it, that has lots of contents on it. If it is freshly formatted, all is fine, if I boot without it, all is fine, too. I would need all the output of all logs, or any other trace, for approx. 3 minutes, that's how long the system stays up till the next restart.
adb logcat
type in cmd.. from the directory where fastboot + adb is
Sent from my ONE V
Ok, thanks. I found out, that I can use DDMS. But it's true, I was seeking for a more simple solution, like yours (ie: command line)

[Q] Please help! can't get any ADB drivers on this site to load on my computer

My kindle fire 2 rooted was working fine until I launched this program called GOLauncher. I didn't like it and tried to uninstall it, but the darn thing wouldn't remove and the the next time I turned on my kindle, all I would get was a flashing loading screen. Nothing else. I soon thereafter discovered (when the 1-step program I had previous successfully used about 10 times before) would go no further that daemon starting. I noticed that instead of a Kindle in my device manager, there was now only a Portable Device with E: showing as active.
I've tried every solution I could find from here, but 90% of them assume you have the whole driver .exe to install or some other such stuff. Every driver that doesn't, doesn't work for my computer, and won't put the kindle device back on my computer. So now, I have no way to communicate between my kindle and my computer, which I need to do frequently.
I've uninstalled each adb between installs, I've tried all the drivers I can find, I've deleted hidden devices (there were no kindles there either)
Plus, I can't get these apps I installed on the third party sites (which I miss) to uninstall. All they say is "move to favorites" in both my app folder and in the cloud. I am assuming it's because I no longer am able to access those sites.
Could someone please help me? I'm pretty computer literate, except where it comes to DOS commands. Sigh, the one thing I didn't learn in high school.
I promise I've been spent the last 5 days and nights (and even restored my device to factory settings just to get it to work) searching through so many pages of this site that I'm starting to get confused. Will someone please help me?
OK lemme get this straight, you are stuck in a boot loop at the kindle logo and want adb access but nothing is showing up( except maybe a portable device)? If its showing up as a portable device during a boot loop that strikes me as odd, usually you don't have adb access during a bootloop , much less and mtp connection. If it's stuck in a boot loop you will typically need a fastboot cable to get out of it. Also what os are you running? I might be of more assistance after I get a better idea of what your kindle is doing exactly.

This is what happened. I installed a program from the Google Play store, wasn't happy with it, and botched the uninstallation. I was messing around on my computer to see how I could fix the problem (after just rooting hubby's kindle fire 2nd generation and discovering I had not ADB drivers and my device manager wasn't recognizing my requests). I notice that once again the kindle is missing on device manager when plugged in to the computer. What is showing up is a Portable Device labeled E:. So I go looking for answers here.
One of the things I noticed I could do with the broken kindle was that about 1 out of 5 times it was on, I could swipe the top of the screen and have the settings menu come up. And out 1 out of those 5 times, I could actually get a setting to appear by pressing on it. So I literally spent 17 hours trying to time the swipe, press, press to get the restore to factory settings program to work. And when it finished, I had a useable device, but all the kindle programs were gone (they were still on my cloud) and I could run all the programs installed from other android stores (but I can't uninstall them). And, of course, I can't get my computer to recognize the device. But I do have program called file manager that allows me access to shared files on my family's three computers so I can transfer files over the LAN if I need to.
I hope that helps. Thanks for taking the time to help me.
I am running an Intel i5 with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. It has all Microsoft updates and it is my pristine baby that I bought 18 months ago (my last computer was 9 years old that I built with an AMD processor and an 17 and 20 GB hard drives that were donated to me. It was a real POS, but it's still running to this day as a backup.
I know the feeling, before i got my new laptop from a friend a few weeks ago i had a pc with a pentium 4 and 2gb of ram, and like 3 hard drives. Anyways I'm assuming at this point you want to try restoring the system partition? Have you tried the drivers in my signature for adb access? If you can reboot into fastboot you could restore the system image from kindle fire first aid, should fix any problems with the os. It all depends on if USB debugging is turned on on your kindle, and if you can get the PC to detect it as such, usually I would just uninstall the MTP device and try searching for drivers on the new device detected and point it to my drivers.

Thanks for both of your information. I did get the ADB drivers to show up - in the most stupid of ways. I changed from by brand new monster gold plated cable to a Wal-Mart special. Suddenly, everything worked perfectly! I use KFFirstAide to restore the device to the #1 setting, and then rooted it using the #23 setting. I also installed the Google Play store (though I installed the wrong, more complicated, version of if the first time.
Now I have a problem I can't see to fix. Ever since I got everything set up, there are certain programs on my kindle (cloud and device) that I can't get rid of. They are No Lock, Talk, News & Weather, Majic Locker, Google Voice, and Gl Launcher HD. I've tried downloading both ES Task and File Manager and deleting or startup disabling these apps, and while they say they are deleted, they reappear back on the active list as soon as I turn on my device (yes, I've rebooted), but I can't get them off my kindle Apps pages. And Go Launcher starts up every single time I turn on my device, and I hate this program, because it is not what I was looking for. Now I always have to look at it.
These .apk's are all in the system/apps folder. That's why I've tried to use the above file apps to get rid of them.
Also, my Silk browser doesn't work (I can open it and it immediately closes), and while I know I can download dolphin browser or firefox, I want the browser built for tablet speed and efficiency. Plus, when I had multiple browsers before, I always got the popup asking me which app I wanted to use to perform that function. But I can't find an apk for silk anywhere, and my device won't uninstall Silk.
Can anyone help? I feel so stupid about the cable issue. You wouldn't think a 3 day old cable would not properly transfer data.
OK to fix your launcher, go into the setting>apps and find go launcher and clear its defaults. That's kinda unspecific but I haven't been on amazon os for a while. To get rid of system apps, use es file explorer, enable root access, if on the older version, mount the system, if you have a panel on the left its the new version. Anyways from there you can simply hold down on the app and hit delete. Not too sure why silk isn't on the list. Though I though I might say consider this, you have no way of using flash with silk, so other browsers are kinda useful because you can. Then again I like flash. Kinda sounds like silk got deleted.

I have gotten several tablets to respond to ABD commands while soft bricked or not booting all the way. This is actually how I became an authorized MID repair facility. I have repaired a few kindle's that would only boot the to logo. If the device is loading as portable device, go to device manager, update driver for portable device, manually update the driver to whatever ADB driver you have extracted and it should at least respond to adb wipe command. once done you should be able to use the KFU to restore the tablet to factory state.
At least this is the process that has worked for me several times.

Help! Bricked Firestick2 by Disabling WiFi

I sideloaded settings.apk to my Fire Stick 2.
I opened it up, & accidently disabled wifi.
Now the stick barely boots past the logo, and displays a no network WiFi error message. It wants to connect to a network, but won't since Wifi is off. Rebooting has no effect.
Worst of all: the remote will no longer communicate with the stick. I guess that connects over wifi too.
I need to enable wifi again to unbrick my device. Or factory reset. But I can't use the remote. I have no way to input commands, that I know of. So the remote reset is a no go.
I will try to reset using adb commands over windows, connected via micro usb.
And/Or find a way to reflash the stock rom, or a custom one. I don't care about root. My stick is not rooted, runs some version of Fire OS, and its got Kodi and a few other apps sideloaded. Install Unknown Sources and Adb debug should both still be enabled.
Please help me guys! I need my tv back. What's my best course of action? Anyone got any steps, instructions or helpful links? I'm no expert, and I'd love experienced input.
If you can connect via ADB, then see this guide on how to control it: http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-remotely-control-an-amazon-fire-tv-or-fire-tv-stick-via-adb/
Your other option is to use an OTG cable with a USB keyboard. See here: http://www.aftvnews.com/amazon-fire...d-ethernet-adapters-via-usb-otg-without-root/

Bricked Firestick 2nd gen (non-rooted)

Hi All,
I started a factory reset on my 2nd gen firestick and it has failed leaving it unable to boot. It is stuck at the colourful fire tv logo (just after the white logo). When I first got it about 3 years ago I disabled updates using adb commands found on here as well as disabling adverts on the home screen. I assume this is what has caused it to fail.
I've tried to get in to the recovery screen with the remote and also with the alt-i-prtscrn via usb keyboard and none have any affect. I have also tried the method posted here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-root-twrp-unbrick-fire-tv-stick-2nd-gen-tank.3907002/ but still without success.
I used an Ubuntu live USB and get as far as where the script says "waiting for bootrom" when I do the short and connect the firestick nothing happens. If I connect the firestick without the short it shows up in "files" as "fire" but won't mount ("unable to open MTP device..."). When I type lsusb it lists various items including "Lab126, Inc.".
I'm a noob when it comes to linux but I can type commands in a terminal window and I have quite a bit of experience rooting and playing with android devices.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
TIA

Like you said you got this stick 3 years ago, great, it can be rooted.
And you are not shorting the stick properly and its booting up, that's why you see Lab126 Inc.
You have to short the stick then plug usb in while the device is shorted.
You can use
watch -n 0.2 lsusb
to check when the device gets connected, if it says mediatek then you are good to go. If it says Lab126, unplug the device short it again and plug it in.
You have to keep the short for more then 10 sec after connecting, when it says mediatek leave the short and open bootrom script.
Suggestions,
Change the wire for shorting.
Disable ModemManager if you haven't already done.
If you are still having trouble, Download and use live version of FireISO, its already patched.
Thanks for your suggestion, and sorry for the delay in responding.
You were right that I wasn't shorting the pin correctly. I tried it again and everything went to plan.
