I used es file explorer to rename the songs, but don't know how to rename the album or artist info.

Use PC, right click, Properties, Details. Change it from there.
You can edit metadata like Artist, Album, Song, Genre, Age, etc. You can even add an album picture with software like winamp, aimp or Windows media player.
There are many tag editors, you can google it and search for a good one that fits your needs.
I've always used AudioShell for PC.
Lets you right click a song and edit properties directly.
I think he means how to edit those attributes using the phone itself
Well, if you want to edit them using your phone, you can do it in PowerAMP. You can also pick an album cover, but that only works in PowerAMP. For example, if you edit the tags in PowerAMP and then open any other Music Player, it won't show any of the tags you added nor the Album Cover.
Just search mp3 tag editor in the play store

iTag seems to work best for me. Allows you to edit almost all values of the MP3 tags, including album art.
love this app
DroidID3tagger does it all for you with one click
super awesome app. its free in play store

Thank you. It's good. Testing full version of JetAudio and I need this. They should implement id tagging like PowerAMP does.

Download AudioShell, install it on your PC, and do the editing in your PC. Just right click MP3 files and click AudioShell Tab and edit away!
This allows you to edit Title, Artist, Album, Year, Track Number, Genre, and add Album Art.
You can also flash the xperia s music player and do all the editing on the music player
Use a program such as Autoshell or Mp3tag. I'm unsure can you do it on your android phone but it is likely that you can.

Hi all,
I would like to add cd covers to my album, how can I do it?
I have original CDs and I encoded it in MP3 but my gnex don't show me the covers.
How can I add the covers?
Thanks.
if you have the right tags for your song (artist, album name etc) then you can get an app from the market that downloads the covers automatically. i recommend cover art downloader, it gives you the ability to remove covert art if it found the wrong one. There are a lot of these apps on the market, try it out and see what you like

I downloaded cover art, paid for it, I went in settings and selected to write the cover in the ID3 tag.
I can see the cover in the cover art app, but my GNEX doesn't see the cover when I open google music, why?
Use something like media monkey to rip and tag your CD collection.

You can only add album art to local music files in Google Music, or you can do it through the website "music.google.com".
sorry, i thought you were talking about local music. If you are doing cloud music you must change it on the google music website

I'm talking about local music.
Media monkey can also help you clean up your existing collection using tag from web feature. Pulls data and art from amazon I think.

you will need to manage your ID3.
most of the time, mp3 has alot of version ID2, ID3 APE etc etc tags on them, and the player will only choose one to use.
i use mp3tag to clean them, then put on the album art.
works great.
I have all my music in iTunes and get all the album art from there, then I transfer the music to a folder and then onto my phone. All the artwork was downloaded and flawless on itunes, but 50% of them dont transfer over to the phone.
The phones own album art grabber in the music app is average at best, for me.
Whats the deal?
I use cover Art Downloader to grab the missing album arts, the paid version lets you save the images in to music folder.

Great app...tnx
I have a folder with music and place inside album cover and trying to call it like Folder.jpg or Albumart.jpg or cover.jpg but no one help me. Default Play Music application still use default cover for this folder.
Is there any way to apply my own album cover without embeded album cover to each mp3 file with programs like mp3tag?
PS: ICS 4.0.4
There is an app in the Market called Album Art Grabber. Try it out.

Why don't you want to embed the folder art to the id3 tags?

comment from Play store:
It says it works with ICS but not with Google music. I guess that means you also need a third party player, but the app says nothing about this. This worked great with older Android phones, but if you are running OVA and using the native music app, forget it.

Because I have some mixed folders that not real album so I want to set up for it my album cover and this is would be wrong if I set up for each file wrong album cover image
PS: problem still not resolved ^(
Use iTag. The album art has to be embedded into the song.
OR
Download cover art downloader, edit album art, wipe Google play music app data. It rescans your library and adds the art.

SocialReject and manumanfred can you trying read information about my problem? I ask how to set up album cover image without embeded image to each mp3 file. iTag like mp3tag applied it to mp3 file and album art grabber didn't work with default ICS player Play Music.

Will the stock ICS music player read all of these? I thought it wanted albumart.jpg, but I might have had an issue with not clearing the app data.
Regarding music player, I just got used to using Google Music on GN, but with GS3, I have come to like Sammy Music Player
I love the Music Square, once I figured the music needed to be on the phone, and I needed to reload the music.
BUt I like to use genres when making playlists. I don't see them. are they there , is there a way to do it
I know there are tons of music players out there. But this gets lots of great reviews, the equalizer works etc
Is there one that MOST people agree is in the top 1 0r 2 Or is this one now one of those
Thank You
You can setup your tabs in settings. There's a genre tab in there somewhere.

Wow do I feel like a fool
Ill try 2 for 2....for song search, is the only option to drag the slider thru the alphabet?
As far as tagging I see it does that. But album art, how do I get that
I know the other players get it...but
1. Do they keep it? Something I read led me to believe it was just temporary
I am speaking of PowerAmp and PlayerPro. Maybe even WinAmp
All I want is:
Ability to set playlists with genres
Ability to get tags PLUS album art
A decent EQ
Possibly music AND video in one with Video opening full screen
Believe it or not the reviews are right. Samsung did a good job
It can do #1, after u pointed it out.
It can do number 2, waiting on the ART answer
It is said by reviewers to have an awesome EQ
It doesnt play video. But I can use the Video player and It opens FULKY
Doubletwist, Playerpro do not open fully
Thanks Again
Eric.
Can't find this anywhere else, but I'm unable to queue music in the stock music player.
Is this possible, as it is in every other music player I've ever seen?

Nope. It should depend on the Touchwiz framework to run.

There's something called "schnellstartliste" in german. If you long press a song you can add it to that. If you select that from playlists, which should be the first entry, it acts as queue. Maybe that's what you are looking for

This works for individual tracks, but you can't queue an album in the 'quick list'.
You get the option to add to a list and the 'quick list' isn't an option....

you can try poweramp theres a trail version on google play store, its pretty good and has loadsa options, used a couple of different players already and i find poweramp to be the best
I'm using 'cubed'. Good music player but not been tested on the s3 yet, hence can't create playlists.
Can queue tracks and albums though, so not too bad.
I just really liked the stock player and am a bit puzzled why you can't queue stuff properly. It's a deal breaker for me.

Like I said, not in front of it, i am trying to recall...my phone is in the mail, Upgraded to the 32gb

Buy Music. Do not get them from pirated sources. You'll not need such apps then!
EDIT:Most media players do it automatically these days. You just need to find the correct one.

The MX player does that.
The music is all legal except I bought it when I was in China so for whatever reason, the song names are English but album and artist names show up as strange weird characters in Google Play music app (pic attached) and It's quite expensive for me to buy them all over again. I think I'll check out Mx player. Thanks for your help guys.

Try mediamonkey on the PC. The free version should be OK for what you need to do.
