[Q] Missing Driveres Win7 on OSX VM? - SOLVED - HTC One X

Hi guys i've got some issues i'm hoping someone might be able to advise me with.
I'm running a Windows7 in a VirtualBox installed on OSX and i'm unable to get it to recognize the phone.
I'm currently stuck at fastboot so when the phone is connected i see a new device called Fastboot with the flag that "needs troubleshooting".
After trying to troubleshoot and reinstall the drivers, it sais that the driver installation failed.
Does anyone know a way around this?
Thanks in advance,
-Miro

SOLVED:
As it turns out VirtualBox needs an expantion pack found here to recognize usb ports as USB 2.0
Hopefully this can help someone else using a mac and troubleshooting there phones on a Windows VM

[Q] USB Tethering drivers required, WinXP & CM7

Hi all,
I'm after a little help that I simply cannot find anywhere else... all other routes/searches have led me here so i'm afraid my first post is a question that hopefully someone here can help me with.
So... here goes...
I have a UK HTC Desire, running CM7.0.3.
I would like to connect it to my work laptop running Windows XP via the USB cable so that the laptop can use with the phones WiFi connection or the data connection.
The laptop has WiFi, but it's disabled via the bios and I don't have the password.
With the stock ROM, I connected the phone, put into tethering mode, installed a driver (googled off the www) and it all worked wonderfully.
With CM7 installed, the original drivers don't work and I cannot find anywhere new drivers that do.
I removed all drivers to start again on the laptop, so when i plug the phone in, the first it detects is the Android Phone and wants a driver for "My HTC". Everything I've thrown at it, windows says is incorrect
I installed the Android SDK, but my work proxy wont allow it to connect to their servers (it tries to do this automatically when searching for the usb drivers) for any drivers (which was one suggestion that Google informed me about).
I went to the HTC website to look for drivers, but they seem to have forgotten that they built the Desire completely (another fruitless Google search result).
Please can someone offer some suggestions on where I can get the drivers for USB tethering for the desire running CM7?
Much appreciated, thank you.

Same issues here. Tried the SDK Drivers too, didn't work.
Strange thing is, normal USB connection is ok with the old htc driver, the issues come up when tethering option is activated: it switches to another driver (Android Phone).
Try upgrading things...ur BIOS, ur Windows etc...

[Q] need help with usb debugging

i bought my xperia play 4 days ago and i cant seem to get the usb debigging to work. MTP and MSC work fine, but when i enable usb debugging, all it shows is SEMC HSUSB driver and both MTP and MSC do not work. i have tried instaling the gordon gate drivers, reinstalling pc companion. i'm trying to root my phone (2.3.4) without unlocking the bootloader but i cant do that until i have usb debugging working.
I have found that some PC's just don't like doing it... Do you have another machine that you can test on?
I know on my PC it just won't pick it up correctly, even after reinstalling the drivers (and at one stage Windows and testing on a virtual linux box) and it just fails. I have to use my partners laptop.
thank you for your reply may i know wad os your machine was using? mine is windows 7.
Windows 7 also, but then so is the laptop that I am running on. Not sure what was the problem and just got sick of trying to fix it to be honest

ohh welll.... i just deleted the android sdk manager. i'll try to redownload and reinstall it and the pc companion. if that fails, i'm going to try using virtual box with windows xp. i've been trying for a few days now, hope i can root it successfully without resorting to unlocking the bootloader.
Might be better off setting up a dual boot with XP. Otherwise you can run into problems with sharing the USB slots between the host and virtual machine.
if only i could do that..... btw, do you have any idea how to install the drivers? its a 6mb file from developers world, and i cant seem to find a way to install it.. http://developer.sonyericsson.com/wportal/devworld/search-downloads/driver?cc=gb&lc=en
Yep, just extract the files and then when you plug the device in and it's looking for drivers, point it towards the folder that you just extracted. Should do it automatically after that.
If it doesn't look for drivers any more, which can happen if you have connected it in the past, you can open your computer manager (Start -> run -> Compmgmt.msc) then select device manager. Find the device in the list and right click and update drivers. Finally, just select the path to search to be that of the folder that you extracted.
i have tried what you said, but it says it cannot find the driver software for this device. this is with usb debugging enabled. when usb debugging is enabled, both mtp and msc do not work.. the only indication of the device on my com is from device manager.
Which OS do you have ?
64 Bit, or 32 Bit(x86) ?

A100 - ADB & Windows 7 (Virtual Machine - Virtualbox) ???

Hey guys, I have been trying to get Windows 7 Drivers to work properly with adb on my A100. I have a Virtual Machine of Windows 7 and I have manually added the USB device ID's to the VBox settings for the VM client, Windows 7 sees the device ok and will mount the device fine via MTP. I can even get the drivers to say that they are working properly for the device, but when it all comes down to it they aren't.
I have tried using the ADB driver from the Android SDK which of course won't work out of the box since the device ID's aren't made for the Iconia A100, however I modified them to match the vendor/device IDs, but still - no go. I can do ' adb devices' and it will either show the device as offline or will just say the name and serial#, but when I try to connect it either says 'device offline' or it will give me a adb protocol error.
I don't know what else to really try, and at this point I am really thinking Virtualbox isn't passing the USB properly to the Guest OS, but what is odd, is my HTC WildFire S will work fine with adb (same binary).
I have also tried the Acer drivers that are available on the Acer Website, as well as a few other device drivers that I can't recall off the top of my head.
I guess some people are wondering if this is working in Linux why am I so concerned about getting it to work in a Virtual Machine running Windows. In short the answer is: I am developing kernels and recovery for the A100 as many may already know, and I am working on some automated installers that are cross platform compatible and I need to test the Windows side of things before I make releases, yet it's a bit hard to do when Windows is such a PITA when it comes to anything Android.. Yea, I'm a Linux person I know it's obvious - but I need this working somehow in a Virtual Machine because I'm not willing to do a native install of Windows on any of my machines, simple as that lol..
Anyone who may have a Virtualbox install of Windows 7 (or vista) that has adb working with their A100, please let me know the adb drivers you used and if at all possible attach them here, or give me a direct link. I greatly appreciate the help guys!
Here is a snippet of the troubles:
Code:
List of devices attached
037c624643a033d7 device
C:\Users\Lance\Downloads\godmachine81-Acer-A100-TWRP-Installer\godmachine81-Acer
-A100-TWRP-Installer-c8ccd42>adb shell
error: protocol fault (status 72 6f 6f 74?!)
**Edit: I kinda found a solution to my own problem, but not a great one. The problem was with EHCI 2.0 in VirtualBox, when this setting is disabled it will allow adb to work correctly, however on Windows 7 it will break the USB host so there is no possible way to use the tablet period, with Windows XP however it works fine. Windows XP has the exact same issue, but the USB Hub will actually work without EHCI 2.0, not really sure if there is a workaround to the Windows 7 problem, but I didn't really mess with it long - I'd say one might be able to uninstall the USB adapter and reinstall it after disabling EHCI and then also reinstall the Acer drivers. I got tired of fooling with windows 7 and just installed a copy of XP, wrote the batch script for windows, and will soon be uninstalling most likely haha.. Hope this might be some good info for others who run into a similar issue

USB Drivers?

Hey guys,
I'm facing a problem: my W10 PC won't install the phone's usb drivers at all. It stay with the yellow sign and can't find the drivers anywhere - not even through Win Update.
I searched for them everywhere I could and without any positive results.
Do you know or have the USB drivers for this phone so I can install them manually?
On my laptop, there are no problems and I tried exporting all the drivers installed on the laptop and load them onto the PC but didn't find any driver so the PC could extract them. I can't access my internals on my PC cause of this.
Anyone?
Thanks in advance.
Solved: Apparently, Windows 10 Home Ed. is not capable of installing any kind of USB drivers (MPT, file transfer, fastboot, USB-debugging - nothing worked) for the device but re-installing with the Windows 10 Pro version, the phone got detected instantly and fully without any problems. Razer CC wasn't helpful at all, this time.

[SOLVED] Cant connect to windows in Virtualbox

Hi, I am trying to connect my 1P7T to Windows 7 and 10, both in Virtualbox guests. But I cannot get the prompt to come up on the phone. It connects just fine to the Linux host, but not to Windows, it has worked before when I had my system on a different version of Linux but not now. Unless there is some better way to run fastboot commands on my phone in Linux, I am all ears. But I would really like to just use the All in one tool in windows.
Thanks
Got it all figured out, first I had the wrong Virtualbox extension pack installed. I still could not get it to work when set to USB 3.0. I set it to USB 2.0 and the phone is now connected and authorized.
Glad I figured it out on my own, but also good for someone else to know.
