[Skin] AOSP ic_menu icons *Universal Theme*

Like the title suggests they're ic_menu icons that have been modified:
They are my pet hate in any theme on any device. I think it it sums up just how lazy google are when designing a GUI.
Anyway i've tried to "polish the turd", thats known as the ic_menu icons in various app and framework apk's.
All zips contain icons from:

Here are some more ic_menu icons that ive batched, these have a small bevel and gradient/colour overlay.
The colour choices are:

Click a colour to download!!
How to install:
Simply download, place on your SD Card and flash from CWM recovery.
Please note that it can take some time to install depending on the number of items.
It will also create a log and backup in sdcard/universal themes/

not that i can think of basically was nice feel to home screen now my wallpaper is viewable

The universal theme will create a backup of the originals on your sd card in universal themes/

I get the wallpaper and many things like statusbar themed but no luck with any of the app icons. i tried by clearing dalvik and cache and also by restoring thru theme restore package but no success.
On checkrevo 3.1.1 with speedmod kernel.
@dully79 can u kindly hav a look?

I haven't themed any app icons, or status bar, or wallpaper.

So sorry, i understand now. what i meant was that after applying the zip i got a new lockscreen wallpaper, new battery icon etc, and the icons u hav shown in the picture. what i thought was that my app icons would also get changed.

I've just downloaded the zip, extracted it and had a look inside.
It would appear that when I've dragged and dropped the drawable-hdpi folders across, the framework res folder didn't take....bugger.
I'll sort it out when I get home in a few hours.
Sorry.

I was just looking for a dark and good looking JB Keyboard,
but I couldn't find a simple dark keyboard as I had found for my ICS.
So I just copied the conted of the drawable-xhdpi folder from my
ICS-Dark-Keyboard to the drawable-xhdpi folder of the JB-Stock-Keyboard and the AOSP/AOKP Stock Keyboard.
So the theming-credit goes to someone else I don't know by name, but I realy love this stock looking dark keyboard.
My contribution is only the idea to put it into a 4.2 Keyboard APK and make the flashable ZIP
hope you like it, have fun guys!
in some cases it can cause Keyboard FCs so Backup before!
if you've played with your DPI it could happen that you will not see any changes because this Keyboard is JUST for XHDPI (320DPI)
Check your Keyboard APK Name and ROM-Type before you download and flash!
Download flashable ZIP
(pick your fitting version from my Google Drive )
Do it yourself way for every ROM and everyone who can use a ZIP Tool:
Code:
- Download res.zip from my Googledrive
- extract your ROMs Keyboard file (LatinIME.apk, LatinImeGoogle.apk, no matter wich one you have) using a Root Explorer
- copy your keyboard file to a PC
- open your Keyboard file with 7-zip (open Source)
- go to res/drawable-xhdpi and drag&drop all the files from the res.zip's drawable-xhdpi folder you've downloaded
- put back the changed keyboard APK to your phone, copy it to system/app and don't forget to change the permissions to what it was before
Thats all, no magic required!

I'm gonna help you out.
Here is a VRTheme flasher with the integrated png's. You can flash it over any ROM. It doesn't overwrite the LatinIME.apk - just the resources in the app.
It works for LatinIME.apk and for LatinImeGoogle.apk.

Brainmaster! I love your Lucid version of Rasbeanjelly. But after flashing, the keyboard in your rom doesn't quite match the pictures (the text on buttons is blue?). I actually came to this thread trying to get a dark keyboard to match the rest of your ROM. But this VRTheme flasher didn't actually work on darkbeanjelly.

Thanks, I didn't noticed it. Gonna fix it in the next ROM.

Friend, just flash the universal flasher that I've posted few posts back.

[VRTheme][Transparent Touchwiz]

This theme will make your complete system transparent! Your Homescreen Wallpaper will be the background in all touchwiz apps. All PopUps are 50% transparent too!
About the Theme:
As mentioned above this theme will turn your system completly transparent!
While you have to change the background in the zip and reflash the whole theme if you want to change the background in existing themes, you'll get your Homescreen-Wallpaper as background in the apps with my Transparent Touchwiz! No need to reflash if you want a change

Compatibility:
The theme is compatible with JKay Deluxe Framework and ANY other Rom without it!
Not Compatible with 4.2 Roms!!
If you're using TWRP this theme won't work as TWRP has some problems with the VRTheme Engine.. Please install CWM to flash this theme!!(I suggest you Philz Touch Recovery)
Please note that there's a version for EMR2 and all other firmwares!! Due to some huge changes in EMR2 themes for other firmawares are not compatible with it. For that reason there's a special EMR2 Version. If you flash it on an other firmware or vice versa you'll end up in a Bootloop!! ​

after installed your mod the phone is stucked in a bootloop
Maybe the edited JKay notification LEd Colors caused the problem? I modded the array.xml, and the new framework-res file is only 22 mb instead of the original ~ 29

Just flashed it again to be sure and it worked again..
The modded array can't cause the problem as it gets overwritten..
Did you choose the version WITHOUT emr2 in its name? If not you have the explanation..
But maybe you broke the framework file while editing it.. Please reflash (original) jkay and afterwards my theme and report back.

Yes, it works
Im using the command line apktool.jar (1.5.2 if i remember) and this guide

Okay good, so not my fault please try it again using wanams apk manager.. But the modifying of your arrays will be lost after flashing my theme as it overwrites this file(LEDs will have jkays default color)

while browsing i found two threads, which will allow you to change the way your phone looks,
by changing themes, in your stock rom, and lovely launcher:
The apps are xposed theme engine, and the 2nd is icon themer.

then open xposed installer, press modules and select icon themer.
now install any apex/nova launcher theme and apply the theme by icon themer.
Note: icon themer supports nova/apex launchers themes, so by installing them you can apply the theme by icon themer if you are using touch wiz launcher
Then Soft Reboot you are done

How to create Themes/ port cm9/10 themes​

Refer to https://github.com/ruqqq/SampleTheme for SampleTheme project. AndroidManifest.xml has all the info. Essentially, the theme format is 90% similar to CM10 Themes.
How To Port Themes from CM10
ONLY PROCEED IF YOU'RE CONFIDENT OF FINDING SOLUTION TO PROBLEMS AND NOT RELY ON GETTING SPOON FEED.
Prerequisites
Basic Knowledge with Intellij/Eclipse + Android SDK (able to create a new project and run it on a phone)
Basic Command Line Knowledge
apktool
Some Intelligence
I will not tolerate google-able questions
Steps
apktool d THEME_APK
Create a new Intellij/Eclipse project with the same package name as the theme (can find this out in AndroidManifest.xml)
Copy res and AndroidManifest.xml apktool extracted into the new project, replacing the generated files.

Porting Themes without Intellij/Eclipse
XThemeEngine-only Redirections
Unlike CM Themes which is made just for CM and it's cousins (AOKP etc.), XThemeEngine is made to support various devices. Hence there will be a problem of fragmentation for theme devs.
I implemented an extra functionality to workaround the fragmentation. This require you to add a new file: res/xml/xthemeengine_redirections.xml. This file works the same as res/xml/redirections.xml except with 3 new attributes: deviceManufacturer, deviceModel, deviceId. These attributes defines the condition for which device to do the redirections for. The attribute can have multiple values separated by commas.

xthemeengine_com_android_systemui.xml will be loaded to theme com.android.systemui for Sony LT25i, LT29i, LT30p and only for the specific ROM versions. This way, I can theme status bar layouts for specific device without causing FCs.
FAQ
Why does the ported theme not look 100% as the original theme?
There are 2 reason for this. Firstly, as stated in the previous post, styles.xml is not working for XThemeEngine. Hence, the ported themes would not work 100%. For better success, port a theme which is closer to Holo styles (dark background, bright text). Second reason, which is the most common reason, is that the theme is made for CM10. CM10 is very close to AOSP while your device which is running stock rom only retain some parts of AOSP. The theme need to be properly ported (analyze your stock rom frameworks and redirect the proper files in your ported theme etc.) to fully support your device.

Nice share mate it working good the only problem is that setting icons and few other things arent getting changed .! I will try to give you guys the screen shots tomorrow !

Flashed the Simplex to beans 19. Themed the framework backgrounds perfect, but only about 10 battery percentages. Switches back and forth all day.

I followed the guide carefully n sample theme also changed the battery icon..
Icon changer works fine but when I apply theme n soft reboot or reboot ,only the status bar icon changes n nothing else...

I want to share my last softkeys
These are in a unique WHITE version (however various custom rom may change colors),
but as you can see, I added the shadow, so they are suitable for both light and dark backgrounds!
Manual installation:
When I want to change icons or buttons, usually I "fetch" and override its png from custom rom that I'm using...
.... overwriting the original systemUI using RootExplorer or similar directly on my Nexus

I think everyone in this forum knows how to do ...
each with its own knowledge ... ...
I always proceed in this way:
- Fetch the file \system\app\SystemUI.apk from my mobile phone
- I open it with 7zip from the PC, and I position it on \res\drawable-xhdpi
- drag new png icons on 7zip opened folder , confirming the changes
- close 7zip
- I copy the updated SystemUI.res on mobile phone
- Overwrite it on the original (on \system\app\) using RootExplorer (or equivalent) with relevant permits.

For what it's worth, you don't need a pc to do this if you use zip themer. Use a file explorer to extract the apk find the image, make a new one, use an existing mod and replace the images, rezip mod and use zipthemer. I have a thread with instructions on doing this.

There's no right way. If it works it works. I didn't mean to dispute your method, rather to inform people that there are various options. I sometimes build mods when I'm away from home. So I like the flexibility. It avoids the need to transfer things back and forth. Though I do more detailed image editing on a pc.

I really like the softkeys! But I can't flash them with zip themer (because it doesn't find SystemUI.apk), neither can I manually add them to the apk, I mean, I can, but as soon as replace the original SystemUI.apk with the one I modified, I get a bunch of FCs and lose the notification bar and softkeys. I have to reboot and restore a Nandroid.
Is it because I'm in Kitkat? SystemUI.apk changed its location, it's now under /system/priv-app/, so I guess that's why zip themer can't find it. I tried doing it manually twice. So sad, haha.

do you update edify in zip themer with your kitkat rom? I don't know is just a suggestion.

Hi! Yes, I did. And it updates without an issue. It's just when trying to build the theme that it shows the message "Some items will be skipped due to missing system files... /system/app/SystemUI.apk".
Because of the message I noticed SystemUI.apk is no longer in /system/apps but in /system/priv-app.
