Ok so I used to have the nexus on Verizon and loved it, despite Verizon being a crappy update carrier. I'm now on ATT and have the OneX which I like but I do miss the Nexus. Just wanted some advice, as to whether I should give up fast phone speed and data speed on the OneX and go back to the Nexus. I know Nexus only has like hspa+ like up to 21 I believe.

Go with whatever YOU feel best with. No one can really help you with that choice. Do you want more power and (maybe) faster data speeds? Or would you prefer the plethora of roms available for the Nexus and the quick updates directly from Google?

Why does it seem there is much more support for the GSM version compared to the LTE? I keep seeing radios, kernels, ROMS etc released but none for LTE...

Are you looking in the forum that specifically contains the ROMs for CDA nexus?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
The GSM version is international and has been out for a month, whereas the LTE version is a U.S.-only release and has only been out for a week. As such, GSM GNex has both the time and user base advantage. I wouldn't worry about it, though. The LTE version is still a Nexus, so there will be plenty of development for it.

Has it been separated yet? I thought they were working on it and it should be done in a few weeks..
Edit: I can't even find the sticky that stated they were separating them.. I'm confused now lol...

Ya there's a bit of development for the LTE, but most of it goes to the GSM because it's been out a month longer and has a much larger user-base.
Yes its a bug in xda app. Doesn't ever refresh sub forums.

Love my Nexus, part of me wishes I had the GSM model but unlimited on Verizon is amazing on 4g. 4g throughput needs some improvement but overall its still fantastic.
I can't got AT&T or T-Mo...no coverage where I live.

No idea where open is looking buy vzw gnex is getting lots of love fast a lot of top devs from other previous vzw devices are chipping in and things are coming along nicely
I wasn't so much talking about the devs as I was mostly referring to the updates such as 4.03 or the new radios etc.. however I didn't know there was another forum for the lte version..

I'm currently with Verizon I have the galaxy nexus but wish I stayed with t mobile or went with att,I had a g1 on release day ordered my nexus 1 when it was available for pre orders. purchased the nexus s, but returned it ASAP because of bugs and reboots. I'm not knocking Verizon, because their network is phenomenal compared to tmobile, but I had so much freedom with tmobile hardware wise the galaxy nexus old but superior to other phones because of its software in only saying that I will no longer purchased anything but a nexus.

my GF has a LTE Nexus, and i have a GSM model. my phone is far more stable with regards to radio stability. her phone is a mess when it comes to LTE/CDMA handoffs.
i should probably check for a radio update for her phone...

^Mine doesn't! It's been solid all around since day 1. :good:
At this point in time the gsm Nexus is one of the best deals around. I've been kicking myself for a while now for going with verizon and not prepaid. $350 for the phone and $50 or less a month for service is crazy cheap compared to Verizon or any other postpaid.
The way google did everything, I suspect they planned on this phone hitting its stride 6-8 months after it's release. When the unsubsidized price dropped to reasonable levels, BAM they put it up for sale themselves and put Jellybean on it making the Nexus a superphone that is semi affordable.
I don't get plagued by all these radio issues people talk about.
Having a GSM Nexus isn't possible for me so I'm happy with my CDMA Nexus and I don't think any less or more of the GSM variant.
If only At&t would offer unlimited data I would never have this CDMA crap again.

I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus and I agree with you guys even though I have no rational proof to support my claim.
Please indulge my anecdotal justification instead:
It feels like the GSM versions are better supported, maybe not in the dev community (it still seems like all of the development who provide updates also have GSM versions and I'm very curious to know if any of them use the VZW version as their main phone.) That may or may not be the case but CDMA support from manufacturers seems to be an afterthought at times. VZW doesn't even get some of the nicer phones sometimes. They really came through with getting us the original Droid though. That was a great phone. I haven't had a phone yet that I've liked as much as I liked the Droid when it was new.
I still have to point out that where I live my VZW Nexus still gets me more reliable service (even with its assinine bounces between 3g/LTE in my office) than anyone using a phone on any other carrier. Having a great flashy phone with the latest updates does little good if you can't get online. Sure my coworker gets 40MB/s up and down when he's at the north side of our building but he has to tether to me if he wants to get online where we spend most of the day.
If I spent a lot of time where I could get reliable GSM connections at the price I'm paying VZW with my discount, I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Continue..... Please. I am considering dropping Sprint in a month or tow and am looking for the best GSM plan. T-Mobile has it for $30 a month, 100 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited data but 5GB @ 4g speed.

I have had a nexus one since day one. Love it and still runs smooth. Was thinking of getting a galaxy nexus. From the folks that had the gn for awhile should I make the move. And what's best prices out there? And can the verizon be unlocked for Cincinnati bell? Thanks for any info.
Sent from my Nexus One using xda app-developers app
Best price you can get would be from Google the unlocked GSM version on the Play Store is 350$ which is nice considering any other unlocked GSM is hitting the 600 or so at least that i've seen. It is a huge upgrade from that phone seriously though that is an old phone! I think you will be quite pleased with the Gnex especially coming from the Nexus one. If Cincinnati Bell is a GSM type deal i dont think so Verizon's is CDMA even though the SIM is not embedded you cant just stick whatever SIM you want and it will work.

Cincinnati Bell uses the same frequencies as T-Mobile so you want an unlocked GSM model. IMHO you can't beat the $350 for a NEW device direct from Google.
Thank you both for the info.

Ditch verizon for the $350 unlocked GSM Nexus from Google Play (No, the verzion can't be unlocked for CB, it's not even gsm.)
Be sure to check out the prepaid plans for (usually) the best cost. Here's the most popular t-mobile one around these parts, supplemented with google voice.
Also, if you're satisfied enough with what you have right now, you can wait a few months for the next nexus. The GN would probably take a price hit at the same time, so either way you'd benefit from it.

Hi
I am planning to pay CDMA Galaxy Nexus to flash it to anther career
so is there any difference between Sprint and Verizon devices ?
Which one you suggest me to buy it ?
Which have more roms ?
When official 4.2 will launch for them ?
Thank you
Yea there is a difference. Vzw gnex has way more ROMs
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I have the gnex on Verizon and my girl has gnex on sprint both use eclipse ROM and both are buttery smooth only difference I can tell is sprint is cheaper but Verizon is faster so i think I would go with carrier preference. Don't know what ROMs you are planning on running but I would just make sure you get toro plus ROMs for sprint and toro for Verizon.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Verizon is much faster (in my area anyway) and seem to have a better selection of ROMs. The extra cost for them is worth it if youre a regular data user
It seems everyone has overlooked the key details of the question. To the OP, you'd probably be best off getting the VZW version. Hardwarewise, at least the sim is removable. That being said, you'd be best served, given your ambitions, of not running a custom rom unless you are comfortable with the possibility of rom updates causing you a bit more work if you ever choose to flash them and they break connectivity with your chosen carrier. That, and be aware that your phone will be limited to 3G.

I am looking at buying a "Sprint" Galaxy Nexus and I want to use it with Verizon.
Will I have an issue with 4G if I do this?
Eventually I'm going to put Ubuntus image on it and want to make sure the hardware will work with Verizon totally so I can submit bugs and such.
Thanks
Not sure of the specs on both I know there are some differences in both. But I do know you gotta make it quick because unlocking phones will be illegal on this coming Sunday

OK thanks for the information. I'll just stick with the Verizon model then.
I am going to use the Ubuntu OS coming out for them next month, and this is the prototype phone they will use.
Re: [Q] Sprint -> Verizon
Years back, verizon allowed sprint touch pros on their network, but now neither sprint nor verizon will allow any non carrier locked phone on their network. You'd have better luck getting Pepsi to put coke in their cans.
