WP7 hacked onto Android hardware...ZTE Blade - Windows Phone 7 General

I wanna know how they did it!
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/WmPowerUser/~3/TNJsb88cu5k

God I've been wanting this to come to android phones for the longest time!!!

I can see why they picked it. Same screen res as WP, same RAM...but the proc is slooow @600Mhz. I wonder if the ROM automatically overclocked it to the stock 1Ghz. Specs:

Maybe this is a start to I can eventually get WP8 onto a Galaxy Note.. .

It's an app called SystemInfo from ShellDogfood package. I'm waiting for someone to reply here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910725 I just need to build those modules to an exe and dlls, then we might have it on fully unlocked phones too Well it's signed by MS so there might be some hope for stock ROMs too, but it would only be useful for developers.

On the video comments on youtube it says the phone is actually a zte skate acqua, not a zte blade..
the skate acqua has a 1ghz processor =)

DFT never shocks me....

I build a test rom with the ShellDogfood package and it brings up an extra oobe screen on first boot , but the SystemInfoExe.exe doesn't work like I hoped (this could be because of fullunlock v3)
will test some more (it is cooked in a custom samsung omnia7 rom)

The ShellDogfood is from a really old rom from 2010, same build that was in the first public WP7S emulator, so the APIs might have changed and it does not work because of that.

yes I found that already out , its from the mondrian rom posted by sniper911 , its build 6176.
I also have a rom (WP7_beta_build_ 6531 ) that I can't share but there isn't the dogfood package.
but there is :

I know where to get the systeminfoexe.exe & dlls from for mango but it's not easy because the guy who has those at hand is very busy and I would need to assist him to get them out of his phone

is it a rom ? or phone updated (imageupdated) to a mango build ?

A prototype phone that has SystemInfo and other internal MS stuff

This is rather incredible; maybe I can bring back some life to my old Captivate, instead of flashing the poor thing for the umpteenth time with a new ICS rom.

As requested, Google Ion ROM for Hero

I wondered if it would even boot, and it does.
I've chucked in a compatible WiFi module so WiFi works, but Camera won't, Bluetooth won't and I don't know what else might blow up! It's a starting point for an enterprising chef for sure and an interesting exercise. This ROM is using the stock Hero kernel.
Boy oh boy is it FAST...

i think thats because g1 ports are more "well-engineered", because the g1 is older.. if we wait some time, surely the trackball selecting will work
After trying this for a while, I have two main concerns:
-How can I install a given locale (more specifically Spanish)?
-Paul, when you publish a newer ROM with camera / BT support... will we need to wipe?
Thanks again for this, I'd been waiting for this moment since I got my phone.
Things that will need some work:
- Trackball
- Rotation
- Camcorder / Camera
But it's a beginning!

The HTC rom has lots of customisations and apps different from ION's. Lots of them, really.
EDIT - headphone detection needs fixing too.
okay, so one can say, that the google ion is the pure rom? is there any device which runs originally the google ion rom?

As far as I know yes, it is. It's the one the HTC ION (also called Magic) runs.
Although I believe the Google Ion is just a Magic hardware wise, the device itself was handed out for free at the Google I/O Developers Conference, and had a different OS build to the shipping Magic devices.
Regards,
Dave
we are all rooting and flashing modified roms.. but where to geht for example the original updated (if any) Htc Hero Rom? i guess there will be updates for that... on the htc site there was not really something like that
That's the RUU package you will find linked elsewhere here. It hasn't been formally released by HTC yet, which is why you can't find it on the HTC website.
Regards,
Dave
I will not be working on the Ion ROM... I hope another chef will pick it up if they want it and work on compatability.
I just wanted to see if it'd boot!
P
Paul, you're right, its extremely fast. Wouldn't mind using the basic android as my default rom but I guess theres still a few kinks to work out. Liking it so far though ^^
Just so you know a newer ION image is available on the HTC site : http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/google-io-device.html

Windows Phone 7 Build 6414 (July 'Beta') Unlocked Emulator

Windows Phone 7 Dev tools Beta released
Here's the updated emulator build. It seems very similar (and the build number is only a bit higher) than the one leaked last week. As with that build, there's no options to add data sources to sync/connect with. Ugh! I'll keep working at it as it's bound to be there somewhere but we'll see.

Unlike previous builds, it seems that you need to pass a VMID to the XDE executable. As follows...
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft XDE\1.0\XDE.exe" "C:\Users\YOU\Desktop\WM70C1-6414-unlocked.bin" /VMID {E575DA31-FC47-4766-853F-018D823B9EE6}
Or you can place the file in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows Phone\v7.0\Emulation\Images" with the name "WM70C1.bin" and debug with visual studio and it will launch. I've only tried a super basic app but this appears to be the first one that actually works fully with debugging! This should help the devs that want to be able to test with the various task launchers with some actual data.
So here's the download!
Windows Phone 7 Dev tools Beta released
Download Here
I'll have to wait til I get home from work to download/look into it. Let us know what you find! I wonder if this is the same emulator build that found it's way out last week?
I'm installing that.
Little Tips: If you installed the April CTP, installing the beta from the April CTP's uninstaller (Open uninstaller -> click Repair/Reinstall -> when the uninstaller ask the CD, click the option for re-downloading the file from Internet). In that mode, you don't uninstall Visual Basic 2010, Visual Studio 2010 or XNA Studio. Enjoy!
(Sorry for my bad English, I'm Italian )
Now we need to wait for an unlock of the new OS Image. It is very much improved with bootup, transitions, and everything really. I cant wait to see how the apps, and hubs are looking and performing now...

Can you install the tools with my mode? I can't, the installation can't download Windows Phone Emulator x64 and it's block. HELP!!!
Eh, I created a new WP app project in Expression Blend and immediately ran it. The basic title layout already doesn't match the system layout. *sigh*
Got problems installing it via the repair routine - just getting errors that some parts of the install couldn't complete. Damned....
Yes, it's *much* safer to do a full uninstall of CTP tools, reboot, then install the Beta.

And this build definitely does seem snappier. Maybe that's because they turned off all logging

But I've got a problem with the emulator. It's choppy like hell, it always was for me. I've got a Core 2 Duo 2,14 GHz so I don't think that should be a problem, but I see it is using just one core. Is there a trick to enable emulator using the 2nd core or get it somehow hardware accelerated?

Filesystem
Is there a way to view the file system of the emulator? Some of the original emulator unlocks seemed to have this feature but I haven't been able to find discussion of it with the more recent updates.
Any advice on how to view the root directories?
Is this a full rom with all the features on it ? (phone, xbox, etc)
Windows Phone 7 Emulator Unlocked - can't unzip
I have tried downloading the file, but WinRAR and Windows Explorer both say that the file is corrupt, and I can't unzip it. I have also tried following the directions to unlock it myself, but when I open up my bin file, everything is using the Cyrillic alphabet, so I don't know where to find the changes to make.
Suggestions?

Unfortunately, no. Even the original emulator that was super easy to crack and allowed almost-everything-under-the-sun didn't allow that unfortunately. It sucks because it looks like the new emulator is severely nerfed now where at least I could show off the basic functionality before. I hope MS goes back and gives us a ROM that does a little more 1:1 with a functional device. Not like I'd rather use the emulator than my phone anyway.

Honestly, it is kind of a waste of time to port the ICS SDK. I know that you can say that you were first to port ICS, but all you would get is a buggy build that has a bunch of missing features. It would be cool to play around with it a few days before the source actually come out but is the effort really worth it?

Agreed. Let's wait for ASOP or CM. No need to lose sleep over something that will never work good considering the past experiences with SDK ports.
Well, I have it running, but no more.
It has some strange screen pointer which makes using the device really irritating
Anyway, porting SDK sucks.

[TESTERS REQUIRED] Retail Device Unlock - bootloader unlock for W10M phones

Hey,
@gus33000 and myself have been working on a new app, called Retail Device Unlock, it will install a secure boot policy (ie, BOOTLOADER UNLOCK) on any Windows Phone (that can get to w10m by any means).
I kinda have a lack of testers right now, and without testers the app release won't happen any time soon.
Please to note that testers must be using a spare phone that you don't care if it gets bricked. Said phone must be running Windows Mobile 10 and be interop unlocked, using either latest vcreg (if Lumia x5x) or Interop Tools (if not).
If you're interested in testing, or just interested in progress, head to https://rol.im/chat/rtchurch
Thanks.
As is listed above. USE A SPARE PHONE THAT YOU DON'T CARE IF IT GETS BRICKED. DO NOT use your daily phone for this. Follow all instructions that are listed by @gus33000 and @Wack0Distractor.
Do not post any cries for help due to bricking your phone. Let's try to keep this as clean as possible.
I REPEAT... DO NOT USE A PHONE THAT YOU'RE UNWILLING TO PART WITH .

There aren't any Roms now, because there is no bootloader unlock available yet. Once the unlock gets publicly released, the roms will start flowing.
