4G wireless tethering? If so what configuration are you running? Rom? Kernel? I use my tethering often, and not being able to tether 4g has been disappointing.

It can indeed. Rom of my choice is clean rom or android rev hd as solid roms. Themed speedy sorta buggy roms work too but i like it stock look n none buggy. Kernel anthrax
hTc
Using wireless tether? What version and what settings? I can never see the ssid broadcast even when I get no errors.

I have my phone set to epic 4g in device profile in wireless teather
And work outta box after that
I've used pdanet with no problem over 4g, but that requires a cord.
this works well

It only works in adhoc mode.
Download and ODIN this file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282415
Then download and ODIN this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305099
And finally use CWM to flash this file and then wipe your Dalvik cache in the advanced menu of CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286236
Worked like a charm for me and is many more times reliable than Wireless Tether.

try it without encryption just use access control you have to authorize each device from the phone once but it at least keeps people from using your bandwidth.
it is adhoc only though so some devices can't connect (mainly other phones tablets ect computers and the like are ok)
im currently on starburst 1.95 with the included kernel but i've yet to find a rom it didnt work on for me anyway
that sprint hack would be awesome if it had 4g enabled also
Thanks guys. I didn't know Adhoc wouldn't show up on my android and blackberry, the two devices I was testing to see if it would catch my SSID. Fired up my laptop and there it was. Sucks there's no infrastructure mode at the moment and hope they can fix that soon.
install the sprint hack from the dev section for those times you need infrastructure mode.
its only 3g but better than nothing.
Not sure what is the problem, im on stock rooted with LosKernel, and im able to ot use the latest Wireless Teather, with 4G on.. I connected my ipodtouch3G to check if it works, and it does
what are this ad-hoc and infrastructure stuff?

But does 4G stay on? Every kind of tethering I've tried, wireless, hotspot, wired, 4G acts like it is authenticating, then disconnects. So you are really tetherd on 3G.

I just got a used ET4G from Cowboom which was on GB stock rom. Foxfi was working great. However the phone was having some issues with the Options menu popping up randomly. I went to the Sprint store to have them look at it. They took it for an hour and told me they did an update to the phone.
I reloaded my Foxfi app on the phone and the hotspot function does not work anymore. Researching here it seems as if ICS blocks hotspot function? Is there any stock ICS roms that have bypassed this hotspot lockout?
I also notice my 3g and 4g speeds seem to be slower on this stock ICS rom.
Is there a way to move back to a stock GB rom or get hotspot working on ICS?
Thanks.
Yes on there is the 3g 4g hotspots hack (flash able zip) in android devolopment or use wifi teather. For me it works better.

Thanks for the reply.
I just rooted and put CWM on my ET4G. I tried wifi tether and Foxfi and I still can't get the phone to work as a hotspot. Is this flashable zip needed first before these tethering apps are able to work?
NVM found the link. Is this the flash you are using?

Yesterday i recieved the notification that 4.1.2 was ready for install on my stock yakju galaxy nexus. After the install i noticed i could no longer tether (that same day i had tethered my xoom over wifi pre update). Today i tried to tether with wifi, usb, and bluetooth and not one of them will work. I've reset the computers/tablets, i've reset the phone, and i'm 100% stock with no root.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? my googling has turned up with nil.
I'm debating doing a factory reset, but would prefer not to if anyone has some suggestions i can try. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I had the same problem. However, FoxFi just updated their app to work with 4.1.2. I also got the FoxFi addon. Not sure if the add makes the difference or not.

edit: Strike that, just tried foxfi, no dice. I also tried a factory reset... no dice. i'm going to try a full flash of takju.

i'm curious, what frequencies does your provider use? mine is 850/1900 HSPA. i think. My theory is that it's only broken for some frequencies, which could be valueable debug info for the google people
My carrier uses 850/1900 3G bands. My issue is my tablet sees the connection and connects but the wifi icon never goes blue so it never gets internet.

Problem solved
I have solved the problem using "ISWAT tether unlocker" on google play
Open the app, click on the button "Unlock tethering", wait for the video completion, ad the tethering magically works, try it and let me know
I've got two GS3's... One I've had for a while, is using Ice Cream Sandwich, is rooted and runs wifi tether just fine.
I got another one tonight for the wife and allowed it to update to JellyBean, but it seems we can't root Jellybean to get the free wifi tether. Is this correct or if I root it, is there a wifi tether that works?
If not, what steps do I take to switch back to ICS?
cm10 is one of the few jb rom which has working wifi tether. if you want to go back to ics you can probably find the ics odin tar, however i would just use one of the ics based roms on the thread.
Thanks! I kinda thought this is the direction I would need to go... Can you point me to a link to get the ICS ROM?

From what I can gather from xda and my own experience, wifi tether on cm10 is NOT working. Doesn't sound like it is a cm10 specific issue though. I am on nightly 11-07 and wifi tether appears to work fine but the client doesn't actually get access to the cellular internet data.
I would love to be corrected and get this working though!

I got the wifi tether that's native to CM10 to work when I installed CM10. Only problem now is that CM10 makes the functionality of the device so much different than the stock ICS or JB GS3 that my wife isn't thrilled. So, now my challenge is to find themes that best "look" like ICS or JB from Google.
Any suggestions???

Have been searching for a fix since the jb upgrade. This is it. Thnaks much!!!!
Only problem is that after shutting down wifi tether and when I try to restart wifi, phone says disabling Sprint Hotspot, but it never does. I had to reboot to be able to turn wife back on.
No go for me on stock JB rooted.

Same thing happened to me, had to hit allow at least 20 times. Either case, ended up not working for me on stock rooted.
I also have stock rooted JB. It DID work. I tried on ipod touch, Galaxy Tab and a laptop. They all worked fine. Only problem was not being able to turn Wifi back on after shutting down tether. Had to reboot.
I used Nexus CDMA profile, encryption OFF, Access control ON.
It DOES work.

I've tried your EXACT same settings and it doesn't work. I can see the network, but can't connect. Without fallback tether checked, I don't even see the network at all. This is my luck, for sure.
Works for me. I didn't change a thing. I opened the app after installing it and pressed the wifi button in the center of the screen. It worked and my buddy with his iPhone was able to connect and browse the web.
