I've disabled lots of apps I won't use - great feature, but I want to re-enable the stock browser to use it's download video feature.
Out of the whole list it's the only one that hasn't got a highlighted, 'pressable' enable button??
I tried uninstalling the Firefox Beta thinking it might ask what browser I wanted to use but no go.
Anybody got any idea please?

i had this too. but i had to do factory reset anyway, so that solved the problem. but otherwise i couldn't find a solution of how to re-enable stock browser
I couldn't even disable the stock browser so can't help there, but I could in 1.28
Ah... it's Eddy Elevate Didn't get an answer over there on the new help section so thought I'd risk it on here!
I think I'll just stick with Firefox, I really don't want to do a factory reset just after I've got everything just as I want it. I couldn't be bothered with another restore
Unless anyone else has an answer....
There must be a way of doing it, perhaps some sort of adb command?

EDIT: 4questions !
Hi guys. I just installed the 2.2 update via OTA, but now i got "3 little problems". Since i didnt find them via search buttom, i'd like to ask them here.
1.- Most settings are the same as before (2.1), but for example, Google Talk changed my nickname, from my name to my e-mail. I know there was a way to change it, but i dont find the way to...
I know people can change my nickname, so each one sees me with the nickname they want, but the "default one" was my name and now's my e-mail
2.- Facebook events + brithdates. Is there a way to disable them? I got all kind of connections from facebook disabled.. but dont find this new feature so i can disable it.
3.- Flash. I found on market Adobe Flash Player 10.1. Wasn't it supposed to be enabled by default? I mean. Should i install it? Is it better than default? I dont understand anything since i read that 2.2 came with default 10.1... but there's an app, from Adobe.
4.- Is is recommended to do a hard reset after updating? I mean. I got all apps from 2.1 installed. And since I update, none of them were removed, etc. Do I lose some speed or something if i dont hard reset? Maybe Hard Reseting + Reinstalling ALL apps make my device to run EVEN smoother and faster than it does. (It goes faster now than before with 2.1, but maybe...)
See you soon and thanks for all!!!
Bump !!!

I quick off-and-on again or battery pull if it slows down should suffice.
So 2.- Solved 100%
Still need help on:
1.-
3.-
4.-
Since 2 is exactly what we needed and 1,3,4 are things that you believe. Thank you very much !!!
w8ing for more answers
3 - included as default in the official rom
4 - always recommended when installing a new system, if not this could lead to bugs and performance issues. The official froyo is also odexed there's a chance your apps may conflict. if you have the time to hard reset then it's defo recommended.
don't know about the google talk thing though sorry.

Hi,
I have the Htc Desire android 2.1 with launcher pro. I loved it until recently it is showing that Launcher Pro has expired & it won't allow me to do anything. I restarted the phone, took out the battery but nothing seems to work. I am basically locked out because I trusted this product. Please help me out here, I would appreciate it. Again, htc Desire 2.1,launcher pro free version saying expired & opening up the browser only. I can't do anything else & I can't reboot as I would lose my contacts & data.
I tried looking at the solutions provided over the internet but nothing suits my situation. A lot of those solutions work for android 2.2 but I have 2.1 which I cannot update right now. Please help me people.
Thanks in advance. My phone is bricked until one of you guys can tell me a solution.
First of all that is not a brick. Second can you get in to settings? If yes, got to application management go to launcherpro and clear the defaults hit the home button and select the Sense launcher or download 'ClearDefaultHome' and clear the defaults. If that does not work you can do a factory reset but you will lose all your data.
And last where did you get that version of launcher pro? From the market?
Same problem here - but for the HTC Wildfire...
I'm having exactly the same problem - My version of Launcher pro was downloaded from the Android Market and has worked fine until this morning when it expired.
My phone will not let me access my home screen or any of my applications. When I press 'Home' it just takes me to my browser which contains an error message stating 'You do not have permission to access /index.php on this server. Additionall, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request'.
As I cannot access my home screen, I am unable to access my settings in order to manage my applications and uninstall Launcher Pro... Starting to panic now!
Any suggestions would be appreciated!!!
Thanks x
Not bricked.
Erm, your phone is not bricked.
Well the way i see it,
1) you could email the maker of launcher pro and explain your situation, though I think its more of a user error
2) Do what TheGhost1233 said, try to go into your settings, and select clear default on launcher pro app. Use htc sense again.
3) factory reset everything and set up everything once again
4) root and flash a new rom (Its more fun )
edit* For people who can't access their settings, try downloading another app that allows you to change settings.
If a factory reset is a to big of a step you could also try to remover launcherpro (in recovery) via ADB.
Thanks for your replies! As ghost1233 and friedkimchi suggest, I am unable to go into my settings or do absolute anything with the phone. I have the exact same problem as described by the other person in this thread of not being able to anything but just go to the browser which I cannot use because wifi is not enabled and cannot be because I can't access anything.
I bought the launcher pro from the android market and it was a free version which I have been using for months now. I seriously want to avoid the factory reset thing until I can because I do not want to lose the data. If I have to then I will but just trying to see if I can avoid it somehow. Nothing seems to be working now.
Yes The Ghost1233, factory reset is a big step because I would lose all my data and contacts. But then, what is ADB and I thought recovery meant factory reset.

Thanks, this seems helpful and points us in the direction where everyone is suggesting us to go to i.e. install ADB and uninstall Launcher pro in recovery mode. There is this video provided in this link which tells how to do that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1SOSXwkc_8
Is this what you guys think is the last resort we have here for this problem and if I install ADB, would that be make my phone rooted?
Thanks for all your help and replies!
No it won't root your phone but you will run in to the problem that your phone probably does not have USB debugging enabled.
But i suggest you follow the linked thread (the launcherpro forums) for further help.
I do not obviously want to run into any kind of problems. What do you suggest then. This is not something that I am choosing, I did not find any other options. Please suggest what would be my options given my situation. I am not a nerd so I do not know if I will be able to do all this installation thing properly or not. This was kind of a relief that this would not root my phone. I don't know why I am afraid of it but I really like the handset and I don't want it to be screwed because of anything.
Thanks
a coworker of mine had the same issue today. I'm just reposting the link from another website, since I typically come to xda to find answers to stuff like this... either manually type this into your ANDROID browser, or if you could somehow make it to this page from your phone, just click this link... from your phone lol
market://search?q=pnamerg.adw.launcher
it is the direct adwlauncher link to the android market!
hope this helps! =)

Yes, that's right. It was a free version that I have downloaded from the android market.
idk if some of you are still having the same problem but if you are, i got this from another forum and it seemed to work for them:
Hold down the 'home' key in order to start your native task manager.
You should see the Settings icon, probably in the bottom right, of your tasks.
If you don't see Settings, double-tap your Home key in order to open Voice Dialing. When it opens, say 'Open Settings.'
Once you're in Settings, go to Applications, and remove LauncherPro.
Hope this helps.

if that doesn't work you, and could open the browser type this in:
(it should download adw launcher)
bubiloop.com/download/org.adw.launcher
ps. my cousin had this problem and search for a solution and found it, just thought i would share since. xda always helps me out
Hey, I tried doing all this except for the download thing but it does not work. I cannot download anything because wifi is disabled and there is no way I can enable it. If I could have had a back up of my data I would have probably tried the hard reset.
I really appreciate all you folks to try and help me out. I am still trying.

Hi,
I'm starting to think I might have some serious issue with my HD.
I'm on my third ROM(LeeDroid) and every one seems to have issues with Superuser. When an app requests root, I get the pop up to allow or deny, but I cant select allow. I can deny, then open superuser and swap the app to allow but that seems a bit odd.
Is Superuser supposed to work this way?
Dolphin HD is another app giving me trouble. If a secure website asks me to input a username and password, I enter them in but i cant select OK to issue them to that web server.
Related or am I going mad?
Sorry, I did try searching on this but as you can see, its not easy to know what to search for.
Sorry to self bump but this has me totally out of ideas

Have you tried clearing data from superuser and dolphin hd? It might help in some cases...If you use CWM try to "fix permissions"....

Thanks for the suggestion but yes, I tried all that.
I must have done something wrong in the rooting process or something.
I was trying to avoid this but I guess the only way to know is to return to stock and start again. Not sure ill both with that as I now have the phone the way I like and at least I have the SDK if I need to do anything serious.
I have the option checked to install non market apps, but if I download wifi tether, for instance, from the dev's website, my phone will not even let me click on "install," though I can hit "cancel." I've tried this with a free other apks, such a Swype, volume+, etc. Some allow me to hit install and some do not.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions? Btw, rooted gnex, stock 4.0.2, vzw.

First, I want to thank you for posting your question in the appropriate place. By chance, are you running JuiceDefender? If so, there is a bug that sometimes does not allow a user to install non-market applications without a workaround (you will find it in settings when configuring JuiceDefender). If you're not running JuiceDefender, then I am not sure, sorry .
bennettm89 said:

I'm not. And since my original post, while my phone was laying on the couch, something changed and now I'm able to install those apks I've downloaded. Someone at AndroidForums suggested I side-load apks from my computer, but my only means of wifi is from my phone and wifi-tether was one of those apks that wouldn't install, until just an hour ago. I've had this issue rooted, unrooted, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, and it seems to come and go.
It seems no one else is posting about it anywhere that I can find, so if nothing else I wanted others to know that it is happening.

To see the thanks button you must NOT be on the classical theme of the forum. You can change that in UserCP.
if you have the screen filter app, disable it before installing the app....this did it for me. hope this helps
I'd really like to be able to disable the app-bar. Anyone know how?
You can remove it in Settings > App. Like how you would uninstall or disable apps on any other Android device.
Hi,
Thanks, yes, but I'd prefer not to uninstall it, just in case I want to use it later. I know that it can be reinstalled from the Planet website, but I was hoping for a less brutal option. Looks like uninstalling might have to be the way to go though.

Root the device (it won't wipe it to flash the rooted boot image) and install an app like App Quarantine to freeze/disable apps you don't want running but also don't want to uninstall.
