[Q] been away, user needs updating - HTC Wildfire S

I currently have an s=offed htc wildfire s, stock 2.3.3 unlocked and rooted.
The last time i looked at doing anything with a custom rom was back in february but never got round to it.
what is the most stable rom at the moment.
I use camera, hotspot feature, txt, phone, internet, some games, music, youtubes, so these features need to work.
There was a spreadsheet about that described the various roms but i've searched and can't find it. Question is how up to date is it?
Thanks in advance

Considering all that you need I won't recommend ICS at the moment. Because it still is in alpha.
Currently EQDKP Sense 3.5 is the latest and best one. Everything works. Unfortunately it's thread on XDA was deleted. You can find it here
I personally am using that one with Dust v9 kernel. (I highly recommend this one because without it, the rom lagged a lot.)
Hope it helped.

For Sense, EQDKP would be the best as suggested by sukhjit but if you're looking for a non-sense ROM, try the CM7 port. It's very stable and all the features are working well. If you haven't tried it before, try it out. It's got a lot of customization abilities and features.

There's a custom kernel for it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707308

Which froyo sense ROM do you use?

I know, such a question is asked every day but since the froyo OTA was released many roms changed completly and many new roms were created, too.
Unfortunally I dont have the time to test all of them, so I just wanted to ask for your suggestions
Which froyo-sense-rom do you use and is it worth flashing?
I have to say that I really haven't used any other custom ROM, but I've stuck with LeeDroid too. I'm currently using 1.6a as it has been perfectly stable with lots of nice apps not included in other ROM's. I love it also because it's updated almost daily. I'm still using 1.6a since 1.7 is based on the official HTC Froyo ROM and it's not as stable yet. I'm waiting until it's as flawless as 1.6a and upgrading then
on stock froyo 2.2 rooted (hboot .80) cause I can't be flashing custom roms for fixes daily. Need a stable (doesn't have be super speedy) rom with froyo and rooted for everyday use!

Exactly the same for me atm - would like to have a daily useable rom which is built from the ota. Maybe I will give 1.7b a try
From the beginning I've only wanted root access with the stock HTC ROMs as my daily use. I rarely flash additions and whatever I do is for long term use. I don't have time for problems and fussing around with new variables, bugs and shortcomings. Stock MFG ROM releases generally have excellency in stability, consistency, integrity and reliability which is exactly what I'm after. So I'm using the rooted HTC 2.2 ROM. Every mod or hack I needed is working on it. Battery life is still excellent. I couldn't be happier.

im using nextsence, i usually prefer stock roms over custom roms but this one is sweet, its like the stock rom but with a cool theme
I'm currently using the LeeDroid 1.7 Froyo ROM. Its working a treat for me at the moment, not crashes or stability issues, my only concern is that when having to reflash ROM's all the time that I will keep losing my apps. Though i'm told this is not the case if you use A2SD/A2SD+
I tried flashing 1.7b, but got no APN and couldnt add them manually. So i switched back to 1.6a

I used to have CM on my g1 too for long time...
I really love the sense widgets - and I can't find good replacements for them in the market
Only one choice imo if you want a stable & fast Froyo Sense. Neophyte 1.6.
Seriously - I've tried nearly every Rom including LeeDroid and this one is so much better than all of them.
atm I'm using Leedroid 1.8.
Really stable Rom - didnt see any bugs yet...

Just flashed back to stock 2.2

ok i have tried numerous ROMs (cm7, MIUI Desire Z 1.4, Senseginger 3.0, VillainROMZ 1.0.0, etc) and none of them seemed very stable.
pretty laggy or clunky and lots fo FC's so i went back to stock rom and
once again phone is working flawlessly.
now my question is...what now?
radios? kernels?
what do you recommend doing now that im rooted and back on stock ROM?
Have u tried virtuous?

If you're happy with the stock ROM, why did you root?
If you rooted just for the sake of rooting, then you wasted your time. Sure, you can uninstall bloatware but, really, you could have done that with temp root and PM.
Personally, I avoided MIUI (if I wanted an iPhone I would have bought an iPhone) and Sense ROMs (I don't care for eye candy) and the only lag I found with CM7 was due to ADW so I deleted it and either use the stock GB launcher or Launcher Pro and have had no lag issues.

First off, while the stock ROM is actually quite good, you don't know whether you will like newer or custom ROMs better unless you try them first.
Aside from that, there are plenty of reasons to root and stay on the stock ROM. Such as overclocking the CPU, being able to use Titanium Backup and other apps (ShootMe, AdFree), and there are other benefits, as well.
Being rooted isn't just about flashing custom ROMs.

Launcher Pro is currently my favourite launcher, it is very fast, even at stock speeds.
I've found that all ROMs can be choppy from time to time, especially when my phone is not overclocked. I'm running at 1.4GHz most the time, but that's probably overkill.
My vote if you want a "just works" feel is use Virtuous - no point using stock when Virtuous exists. It's so much better optimised and you won't miss stock at all.
thansk for the opinions guys.
since Virtuous is what was recommended...
which version do you recommend for the g2?
You'll want the newest version of Virtuous, as there isn't any significant difference between the g2 and desire z, as far as I know.
You can get the most up to date Virtuous ROM from this thread:
[ROM][04/11/11] Virtuous v1.0.2 (HTC Sense 1.85.72.2) w/Fixes & Enhancements
Alternatively it's available through ROM Manager.
If you want overclocking you'll need either the "Standard" or "Advanced" Virtuous kernel, which are both also available from ROM Manager.
If you click the link on the Virtuous thread, or download using ROM Manager, the latest versions (1.0.2) is the only one available. G2 or Desire Z doesn't matter.
If you are asking which kernel, that's your choice. The ROM comes with the "Virtuous Standard" kernel which is overclocked to 1 GHz. If you want more OC options, up to 1.5 GHz, pick the Advanced Kernel. But keep in mind you will likely have to tinker with SetCPU screen-off profiles, otherwise you will have screen wake issues with the Advanced Kernel. If you want the kernel that "just works" stick with Standard.
awesome replies guys. very insightful.
ive chosen to install virtuous with the standard kernel
heisdnice I'm in the same boat as you. I'm running the xboarder56 ROM right now as it seems to be running stable...mius the GPS not working its ok.
I tried the latest Virtuous ROM and found it to be pretty good but I noticed that I got a FC on Handscent SMS and WiFi calling (even with the latter being removed via ROM Manager patch). I also found that a couple of Storm8 games that were fine on other ROMs (incl. the stock) had some imaging issues.
Trying to go through a bunch to see which ones are good and most suitable for me.

[Q] Silly Question

Hello All,
I have HTC Desire HD and I would like to root it. Is [ROM][11/05] Runny Xtreme Surprise - v3.0.0 || Xtreme Fast || a bit more stable than the official ROM? Also where should I start if I want to root my device?
I think you should use search first. That's how you'll find out how to root, s-off etc. Xtreme Surprise is a good rom, but i don't see much differences between it and Virtuous rom.

Virtuous ROM is not the official ROM for the HTC Desire HD, has the one with Sense 3.0. If I root it and upgrade it to Xtreme Surprise, will I get a better ROM with less bugs?
Before you try a different rom, make a backup of the one you already have. Before you root your phone, read the threads for the roms yoy are interested in. In the first page they will usually tell you if there are bugs. And if not, reading the rest of the pages will give you an idea how it works, if other users have encountered.bugs and so forth.
Sent from a dream.
Runny Xtreme Surprise is #$%@ing awesome, and you will get much better performance than you will on a stock ROM. It's stable as hell for me, but I think any custom ROM is going to have some minor bugs somewhere (although I haven't found any yet). RCMix tweaks seem to be fully functioning on Xtreme and, in my personal experience, the whole thing is smoother than any AOSP ROM I've used thus far (and I used to be pretty heavily biased against Sense).
Sorry for gushing, but I think it's the absolute pinnacle of GB development thus far.

AWESOME! Cannot wait then to flash it! I am working now as IT Technician but when I get home I will do it! \/
There's a tool that you can use to root your phone in a few minutes. It's not complicate. Use the search option and you will find it without any problem.
Also there's a few roms that you can try, all have different tastes, behavior, app, etc.
Also always make a Full wipe (factory reset) in the phone before that you proceed with flashing a new room
You will be very addictive installing roms like me, I can't stop of flashing roms in my phone
Just Installed it last night! AWESOMEEEEEEE!! My phone became very smooth and nice!! And when I reboot is soo quickk!!! AMAZINGG!! Who created this ROM must be genius!
I think you will test in the future many ROMs....

[Q] Which ROMs have everything working?

I really wanna ROOT my phone in preparation of an official CM9 build. My old phone has a few apps that require ROOT and I'd like to continue using them, however, before I can install them, I need to be ROOTed and there's little point in me ROOTing and then giving up the full functionality of my phone. Thus I ask, which HOX ROMs have everything working?

Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Arhd and charmeleon for sense roms
Jdroid or paranoidandroid for aosp or less sense roms.
I tried most of these
Typed with XDA Premium on OneX
I vote for ARHD and Team PkMn ROM - Charmeleon which will be upgrade this night..
For non sense ROM i really like the features on ParanoidAndroid..
I like jdroid as lessened sense. Keeps sense beats and sense camera.
Although ARHD and Charm are still my choices when going for sense roms

Everyone's list of necessary features is different, so "fully working" means different things to everyone. For example, I rarely use my camera, but for some that's a deal breaker. The only way to answer your question is to try them. There are lists of bugs in the OPs of ROM threads in the development forum, along with a sticky index of all of the ROMs.

I have checked almost all the ICS ROM and i liked the Sabsa Prime v4.1 | 4.0.3 | Sense 4a.
But there is a camera issue problem but i fixed that yesterday. and now the ROM is perfect to me.
Why Not Give it a Try to all the ROM with sense 4 and which ever you feel the best then go for it. everyone has different opinion

I've been running sabsa since 3.0 version, it's the fastest and most stable rom that I've tried running on ICS, I suggest you to try it. Do a nandroid backup so eventually you can easily go back to gb.

if there is such rom everyone would be using it but then again people have different taste and some roms are better for others. You just have to look around and find out which one works best for you.
