[Q] information - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi . I am using a xperia play r800a rogers and it says my boot loader can not be unlocked. is there a way around that for rooting my phone. Please help. I tired of loosing all my game data and would like to be able to use tititum backup.

Hi.
I rooted my play this morning using the information from the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320350
If the utility doesn't do anything after it says "waiting for device" you might be missing some drivers.
To get the correct drivers installed on my pc I had to install Sony PC Companion first - make sure you opt to install the MTP drivers as well and it should be ok then.
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/

Hi camsurf,
From my experience, rooting and bootloader are entirely different. Essentially consider rooting to be 'admin rights' for your phone. You can run things you shouldn't be able to, etc, from within the 'Operating System'.
Bootloading is essentially changing the 'Operating System' entirely.
I've used SuperOneClick to root my device a few times. Very straightforward and easy to use. The only issue I've had is when I stupidly didn't enable USB Debugging in the settings.
Also your bootloader can be unlocked, but it requires payment to do so, and a little work from your end in most cases.

ok......
im runing version 2.3.4
build number 4.0.2.A.0.42 (does this matter)
make sure u have installed adb drivers for ur device (whats this and where do i find them
chipowski, the link you game me does not work for r800a but thanks or the help.

I have PC companion already installed on my pc. should i uninstall it and then reinstall opting out on the mtp (?) drivers.
these are the pages i found.
thanks guys
how do i "thank" you guys where do i click

Hi,
Sorry didn't realise my model version is different - mine is the R800i.
I am on the same build and os as yours though if that's any use.
For the ADB driver I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510241
which says to download and install this:
http://junefabrics.com/android/download.php
I've just installed this and now on device manager I can see "Android ADB Interface" under "Android Phone".
If you do this I don't think you need to worry about the MTP stuff I mentioned before.

yay
ok i rooted my phone using this
zergrush
works great. but i have a couple of questions.
clockwork mod i cant get that for some reason. i tried to use rom manager but when i go to flash my phone it says not supported. nandroid i cant get that either. do i need that.
im using wotanserver if i need to restore my phone . is that correct.
thanks guys

Extracted = installed? Cuz you need to install them on your pc.
Some people have had issues connecting in MTP mode. If you have installed the drivers then try to unmount the sdcard prior to connecting the phone to your pc.

Sorry man now it recognized like a camera dammm android drivers. Any suggestions?
@fast_forious69 i just reread your first post. If you just want root then you should use flashtool to flash the UK generic .184 FW. Then root with gingerbreak and then without doing anything else update OTA to the newest 4.0.A.2.368 (2.3.3). The only way to preserve root when updating is OTA.
Further more you won't be able to root the new firmware if you upgrade without doing the above, unless you also unlock you bootloader. If you just want root there's no need for that imo. You can can always unlock later if you want to do other mods like custom Rom/kernel etc.
Anyway download flashtool and extract it to your desktop. Then install the drivers that comes with the tool (ggsetup.exe). Then download the UK generic .184 FW, extract it and put it in the firmware folder that came with flashtool. Hit x10FlashTool.exe. In the window that opens press flash and choose your FW and then tick 'wipe data' and then ok and just follow the instructions. This will wipe all userdata on the phone apps, bookmarks, sms, saved games states etc.
If you're already on .145 or .184 (2.3.2) then just download gingerbreak and root and then strait after boot update OTA. (I take that you bootloader is locked otherwise don't do any official updates hence it will brick your phone).

Lol then it must be me. Well I'm a guy aswell...
Anyway mate you'll end up with the newest FW update if you follow my guide above (xLoud, themes etc. You won't loose warrenty for using flashtool on the other hand afaik you will when rooting or unlocking bootloader. That can be ereased by unrooting and locking again. Then nobody should know. Atleast i got my device serviced under warrenty that way
Either way you're welcome and you choose what you'll do. If you can't make pc companion work then you'll have the flashtool way to do it...
Regards Dousan...
Hi mate Dousan, i've read your advice but not sure if i'll try to do it the phone is about one month, i've try the firmware way with Pc compainon it says my phone is with the latest update firmware ?!?!?! 2.3.3 wich i confirm in the menu of the Xperia now i'm in a dilema if is really necessary to flash it with the tools you recomend and loose my info contacts, etc... because i cant update the damn phone with sony ericsson OTA backup ! it only backup the bookmarks !!! don't backup my contacts calendar etc.
i've even reinstall Windows XP nothing now is a digital camera (MTP mode) only works acess the phone in MSC mode so only acess the SD card, a bit weird this android phone i've talk with some other guys in another foruns they say windows 7 it's better but my money now is not enough to buy a new pc, just don't no what to do .... maybe take the mobile to the store a see what's better.
by the way is the new things good Xloud new themes etc. ?
thx mate
The xloud is cool, the speakers are nice, loud and crisp now. Good sound. About the themes.. Meh, I only se the background change really, it's not like cm7 theme chooser nor the one I know from HTC. There's some other stuff too, apps and small tweaks. Haven't really gone through the phone and compared.
Well the work lies in flashing with flashtool, then root and then OTA. For me it's no biggie, but then again I've flashed my phones for the last three years now and things has been more complex than this and also easier. All is relative and what is easy for me could be difficult for and vice versa
If you don't feel comfy about doing it then don't. Take it to a certified SE shop and let them do it for you.
Regards Dousan...
Ohh and always glad to help out where I can
Man you are a very good help and a good friend... If one day u come to portugal algarve i buy u a beer....B-)
Or maybe when i go to denmark we go to hard rock café and have a lager..... Eheheh

[Q] Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro MK16i downgradeing to shipped 2.3.4.

Im going to downgrade my Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro MK16i from the latest Android 4.0.4 to shipped 2.3.4.
The reason is that with version 4.0.4 my phone slowed down terribly.
My phone is NOT rooted and version 4.0.4 has been uploaded/flashed with official Sony software: Sony PC Companion 2.1
As Sony provides no official way to downgrade Android I have searched here a few useful topics:
Firmwares for MK16i - shipped:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
Flashing procedure:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
As I am going to do that for the first time in my life and I have some doubts (I dont want to turn my phone into a brick) I want to ask for a few quiestion/advices:
1. just in case downgrade will fail, can I make some kind of backup of my current system and roll it back ?
2. there are no information at the Flashing Procedure about any assumption/requirements eg. "unlocking boot loader" or any other. My phone is not modified at all. Does this procedure still valid ?
3. my phone was bought in Switzerland and (unfortunately) keyboard key Z is switch with Y (possibly some other keys may be different than regular keyboard is). Please note: I use US-English settings instead.
I searched for shipped/default Android OS image (.ftf file). What I have found is:
- pro MK16_4.0.2.A.0.42_GenericDE
- MK16i_1234-7775_4.0.2.A.0.62_Generic_Trade_Central_Europe
- MK16i_4.1.B.0.431_Baltic
Which one of these would be the most suitable ?

I would recommend you to flash 0.62 firmware
- Download the firmware and paste it in Flashtool/firmwares
- Open Flashtool
- Connect the device in flashmode (i believe u have installed flashmode drivers. If not, they are in /Flashtool/drivers
- Press the scar button/flashmode/ and then select the firmware you downloaded. Press start. When finishes it will reboot. Now you are done
If u have any question, ask it, but read tutorials first.
Cheers, hope it helps.
Cm 10.1 (JB)
@czezz bro Y U NO try Jelly Bean cm10.1
Leave those crappy laggy GB & ICS and try cynogenmod ...these rom r fast and smooth with no lag
Hi,
thank you very much for your replies.
Assumptions:
1. For this point it is not clear to me will I be able to restore my phone to any working configuration in case flashing procedure fails ?
2. I assume there are no additional requirements. Simply follow the steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
3. As luiseteyo suggested, I will use 0.62 firmware (I guess 0.62 = MK16i 4.0.2.A.0.62 (1251-0386) )
@shareupload:
thank you for suggestion.
First I will do a very basic operation - flashing with shipped/default firmware (Android OS image ?).
Afterwards, yes I will be interested to do some improvement to my phone. However for that I think I need to read some basic information just to be sure what am I doing and avoid turning my phone into a brick.
It doesnt work at all.
I have followed the instruction. FlashTool tels me that I need to install drivers while I have installed all drivers available in Flashtool\drivers
Please look at the print screen - it also shows that I have all drivers.
However, during procedure when I turn off the phone, unplug the cable, hold back button and then plug cable back again it tells me that I dont have drivers...
SO CONFUSING ((
Here is a print screen: imageshack.us/photo/my-images/163/wuds.png/?sa=0
Can anyone please advice what is wrong ???

I know it's an old thread. But, if anyone would face this situation then the solution is that:
1. You need to select(tick) the drivers of your specific model along with flash mode and fast boot(top 2 options) while installing the drivers.
2. When you see the driver selection screen then just hover your mouse over the available drivers to see/find the name of your particular phone and tick that.
3. Remember that there can be 2 or more drivers for the same phone in the selection menu. So, scroll through the entire list and select all the drivers that have your phone name on it.
Also, as of 2020, if you are having a 2011 series Sony Ericsson mobile. Then you need an older flashtool version(not the latest). For Eg 9.13 flashtool version worked for my Sony Erisson MK16i on Windows 8. But, the latest version had some driver & compatibility issues for older phones.

Please help!

Hello to everyone,
I've been trying to root this phone for about 2 hours without any success. It isn't my phone, I have rooted (and every other stuff) HTC, but process is really different on Arc S.
My main goal is just to install Xperia Ultimate HD 5.0.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920207, with stock kernel and everything, I just want to install the ROM.
I've downloaded DoomLoRD v4 tool to root it, but I can't figure out what's the problem, I think it's something with ADB drivers.
So PLEASE, can anyone tell me which tools do I must have to root that phone? Where should I install that ADB drivers (and how exactly), do I have to have flashtool or something else, or DoomLoRD v4 tool is enough?
Thanks 1000 times for the one who replies me, I just want to root that phone, and now what I have to do and have installed to succeed.
Have you tried to root your Arc with Eroot?

I just want to mention that I'm on latest official ICS 4.0.4.
No i haven't, i didn't see that anywhere. I'll try and then inform you about it. And just one thing about those ADB drivers, i just have to connect the phone to PC and that's it? If PC recognizes the phone that means that drivers are installed?
Thank you

For ADB drivers, many people have problem with these drivers. In your situation, run eroot and connect your phone, if ADB drivers are installed correctly then your phone will be recognized by eroot and you can root it.

From Samsung to Sony and confused about Bootloader unlocking.

Im thinking of buying a Z5P and while i have searched a lot, i just cant seem to find the answer to a question i have maybe someone here can help. On Sonys developer website there is instructions on how to unlock the bootloader and the last line of the instructions are as follows, note the part in blue text.
Tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.[/B]
My question is how/where do i buy a Z5P that will definitely be Bootloader unlock allowed yes, surely its not just a case of random devices are unlockable is it? I was going to buy this from carphone its sim free so im expecting to be allowed to unlock the bootloader but dont want to buy it only to find i cant.
http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/phones/sony-xperia-z5-premium/handset?colourCode=BLACK
If the phone has no SIM lock, it's bootloader should be unlockable. I say "should" since I am not aware of other factors that keep the bootloader locked, but there might as well be.
On another note, unless you are a fairly advanced user and are set on flashing your device with a custom kernel, I would not recommend a bootloader unlock before root or an option to back up of TA becomes available.
It contains your device's DRM which gets irreversibly lost which makes your camera perform worse(BIONZ stops working), among other things.
CPW is the place to go for unlockable fones. I got my Z5P from there.
Sent from my SGP311 using XDA Free mobile app
As mentioned elsewhere, IN GENERAL (rare exceptions) - if it's SIM-unlocked it'll be bootloader-unlockable. If it's SIM-locked, the bootloader is almost guaranteed to be perma-locked.
While SIM locks and bootloader locks are technolgically independent, in the case of Sony devices (This rule of thumb can NOT be applied to any other manufacturer), SIMlocked devices have a permanent bootloader lock, devices sold without a SIM lock can have bootloader unlocked. Note that in the case of phones sold with a SIM lock that are later unlocked with a PIN - the bootloader lock is still disallowed.
Cheese for the replys everyone I got the phone from the carphone and its boot loader unlock allowed yes
I got the regular z5 instead though.
Hey, Dunno if I have an option or not, but my phone says Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No.
I imagine that it's a no, but is there any way to unlock the BL? If not I may consider swapping the Z5P out for something else, dunno if I can live without root

As long as you use flashmode there is no need to be supported, because the program doesn't know which phone it is in that state. I flashed my Z5P once using flashtool about a week ago.

Where do I get the firmware from for Flashtool? Can I flash something like AurRom using Flashtool?

Install flashtool from "flashtool.net"
It comes bundled with Xperifirm where you can download ftf files for every Xperia device. You access Xperifirm through the Flashtool program.
You cannot flash AurROM through flashtool because it's not a ftf file. Flash a stock rom and try unlocking the Bootloader afterwards.
And don't worry about asking "stupid questions". This thread is made for every kind of questions, as long as it's about the device.

Thanks very much.
One final question, in the UK I have EE WiFi calling currently - if I install non-carrier specific firmware I will most likely lose this. Is there any way I can backup the existing software so I can revert whether the flashtool flash works or not?

What you want to do is follow sonys instructions on how to check if your phone is able to unlock bootloader here: http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/
If you can unlock your bootloader, which you will know after performing the simple steps provided by sony, then you need to install android studio along with required drivers etc, before you can actually unlock the bootloader.
Android studio can be found here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing/index.html?pkg=studio
Read everything throughly, it is important to get all the details regarding usage and installation.
After installing Android studio, you should download all the required SDK's found inside android studio->Configure->SDK Manager.
On the left side you will see several options in the navigation menu.
First go to Appearance & Behavior->System settings->Android SDK. Then in the "window" you have, make sure the first tab is selected (SDK Platforms).
Here you need to check all the android versions your phone(s) run.
Then go to the second tab (SDK Tools) and download:
Android SDK Build Tools
Android SDK Tools 24.4.1
Android SDK Platform-Tools 23.1
Google USB Driver
Android NDK
I am not sure if you really need the NDK one, but the rest I think is required. You can do as I did and choose all if you want.
On the last tab (SDK Update Sites) I have checked everything.
When you have done all of this, you should install Flashtool and go to the install directory and open the Driver folder, where you will find a .exe file. Run this and click next untill you can choose a few items from a list, in this list you should check Fastboot drivers, and USB drivers, and any other options that are relevant to your use, then finish the installation. (The entire installation of Flashtool should be done with 100% admin rights on the user).
After this is done, connect your phone to your pc and go to device management on your pc and you will likely find something similar to this:
If you have this yellow exclamation mark triangle thingy, then you will need to manually install your USB drivers.
Download your driver here: http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/
Then right click the yellow exclamation mark triangle thingy device in device management, and select update driver, then select "Browse my computer for driver software".
On the next window, select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
In the list that appears, select "Show All Devices" and click next.
Click the "Have Disk" button, then navigate to the driver you downloaded, and you will get 3 options in the window on you screen, select "Android ADB Interface" and click next.
Confirm by pressing "Yes" Then press "Install".
If completed without problems you should see "Windows has successfully updated your driver software".
*NOTE* On the above steps, you can also navigate to the folder where you installed android studio, which should be something similar to this: C:\Program Files(x86)\Android\android-sdk\extras\google\usb_driver OR it can be found your USER folder.
and here you can install the usb_driver aswell, which should make most phones support USB debugging and ADB on via your pc.*NOTE*
now reconnect your phone and the exclamation mark triangle thingy should be gone, good!
Next thing you can do is navigate to the installation folder of Android studio, and go to the Platform-Tools folder.
Inside the folder, hold down shift, while right clicking any white empty space inside the folder, and click open terminal here.
In the terminal, type: "adb devices" /Without the " marks. then it should say something about daemon not running etc, when its done, do the same command again, and you should se you device listed. Good, at this point you are ready to unlock bootloader!
If you have succeeded in every step so far, then go ahead and unlock bootloader following sonys instructions!
When you are done, you can simply follow the guides provided in the custom Rom thread itself most of the time.
If not, then a simple way to do it is:
Get all the files you need for the rom flash. That means Kernel, rom img, and a custom recovery like TWRP and SuperSU.
It is REALLY important that all files are for your device specifically!
Put the SuperSU.zip and the custom Rom.zip on your sd card and put it in the phone.
To avoid any trouble, do as I did and save all those files in the Platform-Tools folder, because you need to open the terminal as shown earlier in the post, by holding shift and right clicking in the same folder as the files, this is a must.
Open the terminal from the same folder as the rom, kernel and recovery.
type:
Code:
fastboot flash boot NAMEOFYOUR_KERNEL.img (This is usually boot.img)
fastboot flash recovery NAMEOFYOUR_RECOVERY.img (Usually contains TWRP in name)
fastboot reboot
You should now press volume up key when a led lights up while you see the sony logo, a orange light, not the red one, this will bring you into recovery, from here choose install, then navigate to your SuperSU.zip and install it.
Reboot your phone and you are now rooted, if you also have a custom rom, then place it on your sd card like the SuperSU.zip, but make sure the custom rom is a ZIP file!
Boot into recovery and install the custom rom, wipe cache and dalvick cache.
Congratulations on your custom rom!
Hope this helps a bit, sorry for any errors, but this is exactly how I did it, as far as I can remember!
Btw, this can seem like alot of work, especially when and if you encounter any problems while installing. I know I did encounter ALOT of them, but hopefully with my simple guide you can avoid them!
Luckily, this is just something you have to do once if you do it 100% right!

The problem he has is that his stock ROM (or the phone itself) doesn't allow bootloader unlocking, probably because of SIM and carrier lock. Therefore he first needs to find a way to make the phone unlockable.

I am no expert on this, but doesnt the carrier decide if its locked or not?
I've seen people solve it by flashing different and unbranded firmware, but not for this particular phone tho, but I dont think it's officially possible.

At this point he could at least try, he's got nothing to lose. I have never had this problem, because I buy my phones unlocked no carrier involved, so these are only suggestions.

Yeah, what I would try is first just try to do a full restore of your phone via PC Companion, and if that doesnt work then id try downloading an unbranded firmware from XperiFirm (If I am not mistaken, those named CUSTOM or something are unbranded) and then flash that via flashtool and see if that works, if not then your last hope is to get it replaced by warranty, which I'd say is fraud if the device isnt actually malfunctioning.

I don't think PC Companion works at all, because the only thing it does is downloading identical firmware like the one on the phone. So Flashtool only choice.
I replaced mine with one from flashtool that has a lot less bloatware it originally came with.

lg g4 root issue

hello guys
need yout help, tried searching google for sulotion but came up empty.
ive rooted the lg g4 h815(android 6.0-V20c-SEA) before via iroot pc but after factory reset its returned to be unrooted.
when i try to root again its keep failing because of debugging issue (the software keep telling me its not in debugging altough it is)
i think the problem is when i do usb debugging - connecting to pc the option is checked in the check box but it turns gray.whats the problem is? how can i fix it ?
thank you in advance
If you mean the USB debugging option is checked but gray when your phone is plugged in, that is normal, you cannot change that option when you're plugged in via usb.
I'm not familiar with iroot personally, I could take a look if you need though, but maybe revoke usb debugging authorizations through dev options then accept the pc's key fingerprint once again to "kickstart" iroot.
If you've rooted before through iroot on the same software version you're on now, it should work again without too much effort. Also maybe try switching to MTP (Media Sync) or PTP (Camera sync), or between the both until something happens.
That's all I can think of ATM, I'll probably go check out iroot right now, and think a little more and come back, but I wanted to give you a quick enough response. I wish you the best of luck though!
Edit: Forgot to mention that sometimes SuperSU may get uninstalled from factory reset, if the the G4 Factory Reset protocol deletes the system partition, and then reinstalls it, then this would explain why/if you lost root, I do not know if that's the protocol though. If iroot roots and injects SuperSU as the root manager, try reinstalling it possibly.. unless you are 100% positive you are somehow completely unrooted. (Use a root checker to check if you still got it)
I recommend wiping Data, Cache and Dalvik from TWRP next time, if that's not what you did this time. :good:

No problem at all, I really do hope to fix this for you. Are you on the same software version as you were when you first rooted?/Which version is that?
Another thing I thought of, is your computer. Is it the same one that you used the first time? Do you have full admin access on it? Do you have all the LG drivers on it?
Do you have ADB/Fastboot fully installed on it? Obviously these are the first things you probably think about when you think about root, but I'm just making sure nothing is slipping by, you know?
Depending on what software version you're on, maybe we should try another root method if nothing works.
The last thing I'd say is to backup all your data/internal and flash the firmware you want to root on, but I really don't think we need to go that far.
P.S. I own a VS986 (VZW version of the G4) so I can only go to certain extents to reproduce/"debug" the problem you are having. Keep me updated!

Sorry for forgetting the whole reason you're in this problem is because of a factory reset lol, of course you have your data backed up. And trust me, I understand about the brick, I really messed up my G3 2 years back. Thanks also for the device pictures, could you post a shot of "About Phone=>>Software Info". That would be great!
Funny thing I just did that same phone rotation thing very recently XD
Lol love rotation, here

Well, it seems that the factory reset must also have deleted the system partition, then reinstalled it with the most updated version.. which is not good for the current situation.
Notice Security Patch Level is "2016-01-01" and you're running Android M 6.0, means that the software you're on is very recent, if not the most recent. I did some looking around just now, but I couldn't turn up anything that achieved successful root on "V20c-SEA-XX", which is what you would need.
Technically you could try the stock firmware KDZ for your device, which should be 5.1.1, then flash it with like LGUP, but I seriously don't recommend that unless you find a thread that confirms a working downgrade from V20c-SEA, because if the qfuse does not match between firmware versions, you could easily end up with a hardbrick.
Here is the link to your stock firmware, in case you find that it is safe to downgrade from 20c-SEA to 10b-SEA:
http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G4/H815/
You could try this: http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryTypeCode=ANRS
I'm not sure it will work, but I can't imagine it'd harm you, since it's LG official.
You could also try to fill the checkbox "OEM Unlock", and then try to unlock the bootloader via fastboot. I am not sure if this could possibly cause harm if it does not work properly, so try this at your own risk.: http://oneplus.wonderhowto.com/how-...all-custom-recovery-root-oneplus-one-0156099/ (It's all the same commands even though it says for OnePlus One device. If you happen to unlock the bootloader using fastboot, do not go on to Step 2 on that page)

and when do this step:
"Enter your phone’s unique Device ID. You can view the Device ID by connecting your phone to the PC using a USB cable and entering "adb reboot bootloader" in DOS command window of the folder you created in previous step (for example: C:\tools). Your phone will reboot into the fastboot mode. Enter "fastboot oem device-id" in DOS command window."
it says failed to start daemon - error cannot connect to daemon.....
and i cant trace lg id.

Alright, so I guess it does have something to do with your adb. First off, check your Firewall, make sure you allow adb through and out your Firewall, also maybe temporarily disable your Antivirus whilst using adb, or allow a connection through it if you can. Try turning off USB Tethering through your G4. Try going to Task Manager and ending the adb process tree, it should then try to restart itself. Don't use a wireless adb connection.. if you were trying that, although I didn't think you were.
In "short" order,
1. I would firstly suggest allowing access through your firewall/antivirus, or really I would disable both for now just in case
2. Then try killing the adb process tree in Task Manager
3. Try the adb commands: "kill-server", "start-server"
4. Install any device driver you would possibly need
5. Reinstall adb and fastboot, maybe just install entire SDK-Tools package if you don't have it already
-- If adb is not recognizing your device, which is why you can't track your id, then you can simply enter "adb devices" and it will list your device whenever your error is fixed.
That's all I can think of ATM, I'll post this now but I'll still be thinking of other options. Let me know what happens. Fingers crossed.
(You are starting the command window in your adb directory right?)

Trust me, I understand your frustration, I'm going to make a guide for you in the next 6 hours or so.
Try a different computer if you can, I haven't had adb fail but many other tools sometimes work
on different computers for me. I've also heard "Dell PC Suite" should be uninstalled as it could cause adb hang ups,
if you have it. @htr5's guide might work for you if you have a software update available, I'm not sure though since it's not specifically for your device.
Regardless, I'm sure you will need to use adb soon, so we have to fix that.
I will try to make that guide asap, I obviously can only do so much, again, since I don't have your device, hopefully it will help though. I highly suggest trying on a fresh/different computer though.
Edit: Try USB 2.0 if you were using a 3.0 port (3.0 ports have the SS along with the usb "logo")
USB 2.0 is on the right:
"H815 SEA Root/General Guide"
@mikmikush
It does seem that you can treat your SEA device very similarly to the EU common version, in ways such as flashing KDZ's and rooting.
I cannot confirm this, but mentions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/safe-root-h815-v10b-sea-variant-t3184152 make it seem like it should be okay.
Aoi_sora9x said:
I'm a SEA variant holder here.
It's fine, you can use the Low Effort Root method. You can also flash the EU open KDZ without any problem.
You lose VoLTE, but to me it doesn't matter so I don't really care.
I'm running the latest 10E ATM, and it's much much better than 10B, so flash away.

Yes, that post is for v10b, but it should also work for v20d/v20c. (Not the Low Effort Root method) - You will be working with EU software v20d.. while you are with SEA v20c,
so it's up to you if you want to try this, but it's the closest I can come right now. Thank @htr5 because I believe he has all of this in his guide, and I'll probably send you to his guide halfway through.
You may lose some features or brick your device by flashing firmware/software made for other devices. Trust your instinct!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Install adb setup from here this includes necessary adb drivers, adb itself, and fastboot.
2. Install LG Mobile Driver
3. Download LGUP tool from here (This is for restoring your device to stock if you softbrick via KDZ)
Follow this thread if/when you need to.
4. Here contains a KDZ for EU v20C, which I'm 99.9% sure will match your current software, even though it says for EU.
5. Here contains every partition including the KDZ for 20d by @autoprime, which will be necessary if you decide to root from @htr5's guide (v20d Root Method)
6. Once again, try to unlock the bootloader officially through LG, if you are successful, you can follow @htr5's 20d Root Guide here
7. Be careful and let me know how it goes
@autoprime Mentions that there is "NO anti-rollback qfuse used in this update" (20d) so if you flash the 20d KDZ and it works, I believe you should then be able to downgrade successfully to an earlier firmware version - without worrying about qfuse - and root using a Lollipop (5.0/5.1) method if you can't get anywhere on Marshmallow (6.0). - This I'm not 100% positive about, again, but it is my thinking.
Please thank anyone I mentioned and anyone who's link I provided, they all deserve it!
