[APP] LiveCam - Watch the image from your pda's camera in a Web browser

Hello, this is my another release (though you may not remember previous ones).
My little app is called LiveCam and it allows you to watch what your phone's (rear) camera sees. Currently still images are taken every 5 seconds, and you can only see still images in browser but in future I'ma make it able to transfer real-time video! The app is totally uncustomizable for now because I only wanted to make it work. It contains whole lot of bugs. The app consists of 2 parts joined in 1 executable:
- a camera server that takes picture every 5 second
- a small HTTP server that allows you to see the most current image.
App could be possible only thanks to Alex Mogurenko's DirectShow .NET CF
How-to:
- Copy LiveCam.exe and DirectShow.NETCF.DLL to one folder wherever on your device.
- Ensure you have at least 400kB free space on your device root folder.
- Check your device name in Start > Settings > System > About. E.g. mine is HTC52, some may be Pocket_PC or alike. You may change it for more friendly for you or easier to remember if you want but do it now.
- Connect your phone to WiFi or ActiveSync/WMDC. Wait until the connection is established.
- Run LiveCam.exe. Click "Enable Cam" button (don't worry there's still a camera disabled text, if you see picture from your camera then everything's allright). Click "Enable HTTP" button (same here, don't worry of the HTTP disabled text).
- Run your PC's web browser and point to http://your_device_name:1222/
e.g. http://HTC52:1222/ Should be working.
- If you want to use it via data connection you must first activate it, however it won't work if you don't have external IP service.
- If you want to access it from an Internet computer (not in your subnet), please redirect 1222 port on your WiFi router, check your Pocket PC's IP.
Tested only on HTC KAISER. May not work on other devices. Please report.
Note this is a pre-pre-pre-alpha-release and it has maybe 10% of the functionality I want it to have.
Known bugs/limitations:
- Only 240x320 available res (will be fixed)
- Only still images, no video (5 seconds)
- No auto-refresh in web server must refresh manually to see current image (will be fixed easily)
- No customizable HTML page (will be fixed easily)
- No customizable HTTP port (will be fixed easily)
- No way of turning Flashlight (should be fixed)
- May hang up or eat memory as I didn't try it for longer time. Please always use the Give up button to exit app so that resources are believed to be released then.
If you like the app, I will make it really usable in next version but I must know that I don't work just for myself.
.NET CF 2.0 IS REQUIRED!
It works on my Blackstone(Touch HD)
It crashes when you click on init server multiple times and it doesn't show that it's running but you can access it through the browser.
I'd really like to have a webcam app that really works because other software I tried always had bugs or didn't work at all.
wonderful idea.. and it works great! (touch hd as well)
U dont work just for yourself, keep it going bro
Edit: Touch HD - working! Qtek 9100 - not working!
TyTN Stock
Frakken Awesome!
Works on my unbranded stock Kaiser. Keep up the good work!
its great for my htc touch hd .... owesome and it would be bloody owesome if it would be motion i mean video
Awesome!

Works on blackstone wm6.5 via web ^^
but config screen doesn't update to "enabled", even if server and cam are enabled. just says "disabled" but works. keep up your pretty idea. looking forward to new versions.
some feature-wishes:
- option to turn off the display during stream
- password lockable web interface, so you can only watch the camera if you have the password (htaccess)
- auto refresh in browser and choise between photo and video
- autosave video to sd
- option to switch between main and front camera
- portrait/landscape switch
- ... ^^ sry
where do I enter the address ? is it under LAN settings in IE ?
Thanks!
It works on my old Dopod 818 pro
hi, welcome back video should be possible, it is no bug that after clicking 'initialize' nothing changes, the app was written very fast and therefore not fully implemented. But if I happen to find some time, I may make it better. But no promises Thank you very much for feedback, I thought no one except me could find use for this.
This ideal is good if video streaming is included.

[APP] Metro Browser [V] 1.7 - Updated 11/1/2011

After lots of hours of hard work snickler and I are almost ready to release the first beta of our latest app Metro Browser.
Metro Browser works similar as IE10 Metro Browser on Windows 8, but without tabs implemented yet (full screen browsing, swipe down to reveal address bar).
Some of you might wonder why use this Metro Browser if IE9 Mobile is good enough on its own... Now thats where our browser differs from all the others, IE9 is certainly a good browser but it also has its severe limitations.
IE9 can't play FLV videos and not being able to play FLV videos will rule out the use of most of the popular video websites. Since we don't like to have these limitations on our devices, we designed a browser to handle the FLV video playback of those popular websites.
SUPPORTED VIDEO WEBSITES
- MegaVideo (also MegaP**n)
- Videoweed
- VideoBB
- Videozer
- Movshare
- Novamov
- Sockshare
- Putlocker
- YouTube
- P**nhub
FEATURES
- Tabbed browsing
- Easily share a webpage
- History/Favorites
- Find on page
- Scan page for embedded videos
- View in Desktop Mode
- Search directly from the addressbar
- Advanced built in video playback capabilities (FLV and MP4)
- Auto-hide Addressbar and Applicationbar for full screen browsing experience, swipe down from the top to reveal them.
PM if you would like to have another site supported.
This app allows you to seek trough the video as well, so if the connection drops or you have reached your MegaVideo limit, you can skip forwards and backwards without the need to fully download the video and to watch it from the start.
The video class is optimized for mobile phone usages and will not use your isolated storage, and it is limited to prevent out of memory issues. It provides an excellent quality and is optimized for streaming smoothly, both on 3G and on WiFi. The video's can be played free of charge (but it will consume large amounts of 3G data naturally, so be sure you don't exceed your 3G limit or switch to WiFi).

Open source is out of the question. As a student we will need a tiny bit of ad revenue so we can be able to continue developing of great apps. And we put weeks and weeks of development into this. So please respect our choice, we have good men on board who can improve the app and make it available to all of you. And implement your suggestions.
Instead of giving our knowledge away we would like to improve the app by your input. As beta testing has started we are anxious to hear about your opinion.
Also please dont not post here that we need to contact you, you can only apply for the private beta by sending snickler a pm and you may not share the xap, this is to make sure we can have a controlled beta and can come up with a first release with bugfixes to all of you asap. Without the beta and releasing interferring with each other.
Thank you all for the great amount of interest! We already had some usefull feedback where we can work on.
I'd be willing to try the beta

Thank you.

Web Applications/ Games

Ive been trying to make a good list of web apps and games for the KIN and I would like to see what you guys have. leave a comment with links and a short description. Thanks!
Heres Mine:
1.http://www.playtouchgames.com
2.http://www.apple.com/webapps
Both of these have good web applications and games for HTML enabled devices with Internet browesrs.
webpage/app archive
I made a webpage that has a list of some kin compatible webpages and web apps (facebook, translate, ebay, minesweeper, calculator, etc...)
AND each link pulls up a splash page before loading that can be pinned to the home screen so:
A. It loads a splash for each app
B. The pinned app icons are more appealing than if you just pinned the webpage itself.
Also, the site itself has a splash for pinning to the homescreen as well.
Each splash loads for 6 seconds before redirecting to the page/app.

Finally someone did this! You should make an apps section and a separate section for games. Also another suggestion, maybe make the online Web app store ui a little more tile like the kind os,other than that I love it could you make splash images and add these too:
-Youtube
-Amazon
-Xbox Live Mobile
-Evernote

Okay. So ive done a MAJOR update to the page. Ive:
Added Outlook & Amazon to the app list.
Redesigned the page and added jQuery Pivot metro script to make it operate somewhat Windows Phone like.
Added icons by the app names.
Redesigned the App Home splash (will require re-pinning to home to update icon)
As you can see in the image below, the page is now very app like. Clicking on each header (Tools, More, Apps) will bring the category into view, while hiding the other categories, and does so with a swiping motion somewhat like that of Windows Phone.
Here you can see the new splash screen. Better, no?
And here is the updated icon when you re-pin the splash page to the home menu.
hope you guys like it!
(PS: Youtube last i checked is only compatible with the KIN TWOm, Evernote does not have an actual javascript based web app, and XBOX Live Mobile is a Windows Phone {And now iOS} app, so that is why i did not add them to the site.)
Link changed
Hey, so my original host site has a sensitive (and flawed) spam filter, and thought my page was "Automatically Signed Up" (aka a computer created it not me) and is "Suspended". I sent a help ticket notifying them this was a mistake, but according to their hosting forums, dozens of people had this happen and you cant get it un-suspended w/o paying for their premium service. so its safe to say the site wont be back up there.
BUT WAIT... there is good news. I'm hosting it on another service. the site is up and running. You will have to re-pin apps, but it works:
http://appcenter.zxq.net
Also, i will be redesigning some of the splash pages (for ebay, facebook, & calculator, for example) so dont pin those just yet. :fingers-crossed:
is anyone finding use in this? or is the phone truly dead?
i mean, i worked real hard on the site.
added more "apps" (web pages)
*sigh*

[App Library] Most Unique Note Enhancing Apps

So I have been looking for new and cool apps that really compliment the Note II and I think that it's worth having a thread to have a list of the top apps to help with productivity, maximize use of the larger screen and overall get the most out of the Note II.
One that I've recently found and that is perfect for the Note II is 'Relaunch'. Screen shot below:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",

This app is super cool and allows for quick app changing in a new intuitive way. With the S Pen and big screen it's super useful.
Another good app is Floating Browser! Allows you to do something similar to Samsung's Pop up Browser, with full flash and content (more robust)

Let's get a good running list.
Just saving second post in case the list gets long.
There is also a floating terminal app. It costs a few dollars, but if you're a terminal junkie, that's probably worth it.
I think there's also a floating calculator.
What else do we want to see in floating windows? There's demo code available for that-- so hopefully we'll see more applications like that.
I recently discovered that the Pulse widgets, with the right homescreen app-- (with resizeable grid and the option to overlay widgets)
Make for a slick looking homescreen page devoted to news.
And of course, with an S-Pen, drawing apps like MagicMarker and Sketcher are invaluable.
Some people may find this split/floating keyboard useful :
There's also the WOW split browser, but since we have MultiWindow, its obsolete.
I thought I might have a few more suggestions, but that's really all I have for now.
GpcSOFT kicks so much ass.
Super Manager and Super Video are both really great apps.
And you can do much much more with Super Video.
If you use a wallet case or a flip cover, I found Intellicover - it allows you to turn off and on the screen just by opening and closing your screen. It can even disable the lockscreen on opening the screen.
Taskarou is another one that I've been using frequently.
I like LilyPad HD (Pop Up Floating Chat) on my Note.
It's a floating messenger client, which lets you chat with your Facebook, Google Talk or Windows Live Messenger contacts from anywhere in your phone.
been using swipepad on my previous phones, but i like the looks of relaunch. ill be trying that
Wave Launcher is my pick for launching apps, plus you can put widgets and have access to them no matter what you have on screen

Overscreen is my favorite floating browser, although I had to sideload it since the market doesn't want to play nice
Sketch-a-bit has been on every device I've owned that runs android, if you like drawing then just go download it, it's like it was made for the Note, even though it's from 2010

I posted a couple really nice apps in another thread you should check out. One invokes the pop up browser, another let's you set up commands for the spen, and light manager to adjust stock led notifications. Links are in that thread.

I've found Ultimate Rotation Control which. Shows me what stock TouchWiz looks like and behaves in landscape mode. I'm not even rooted.
