is there a reason that alot of these cases are leaving those LARGE portions of the phone unprotected?

I agree, not ideal when it seems like a very expensive phone to repair. I've got a few on order that cover the fulll phone, i'll do reviews of those as soon as they arrive.
I've just got the white metal-slim case so i'll post a review of that later. It looks nice but I prefer the feel of the sandy case.

Just a bit of an update on this, the edges of the case have started to show signs of wear which after a week isn't great.
I'll post some pictures up shortly

Thanks for the update Oli2k! Makes me think twice before buying it. Got the same problem with Case-Mate Barely There, the finish is wearing off after 2 weeks.

No worries. It hasn't got much worse over the limited time I've used it but I doubt it would last months and months anyway.

Looks similar to the one I got on ebay. Not sure if your one raises the camera lense though?
This one does
http://www.ebay.com/itm/260997338821?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I bought melkco. It's not a good idea to get any that allow camera to be scratched.
I've seen a few variants mentioned here. Has anyone seen any others than the ones so far on this site?
Thanks in advance.
I just ordered a bamboo case from the Netherlands on Etsy. I'll try to post some pix once I receive it.

Why is this a dumb idea? Not everyone has to like the same thing. Obviously there's a market for this.

Or,
Some people like handmade things that look classy. Wood can be beautiful. (thats what she said)
Do a search, there are some beautiful woods and wooden cases out there.
Just because its not your style doenst mean its stupid.

if you do a search tehre were at least two that i remember clicking.
I would pay upwards of $70 for a super thin wooden case. Maple or cedar would be amazing. I seen cases but there so fat. Just a super slim one would be nice.

I think quite a few kids that stalk these forums only look for cases that double as megatron transformer protectors of doom. I have a decent otterbox for when I go out to the field (military), and then a few nice thin ones for daily use. If you guys find any decent bamboo ones share the links!

Here’s the bamboo case I purchased on Etsy. I had to sand the base down a little for it to work with my Philips speaker docks, but other than that it's perfect.

What's with the hate on wooden cases? Unless someone can provide proof or situations where wooden cases have caused some sort of excessive overheating/burning... there's no reason it's a stupid idea. I have seen MUCH more ridiculous cases posted by people on this website. Tacky colors, cheap materials, hideous design concepts... how are those any less stupid than a wooden case? People pay thousands of dollars to have wood floors installed in their homes yet in order to improve its look yet it's a stupid idea to pay $40 for a case? Grow up kids.

Could you please provide a link to it or maybe provide a brand name? I'm not familiar with Etsy at all. A quick search on the site only found me a clip on back case similar to that one. Yours looks like its a slider and provides much more protection. It looks great and I'd definitely buy it if it's still available on etsy.
I also found some on eBay but I really hate buying from there especially when it comes from overseas since I almost got ripped off for an "OEM" Samsung Flip cover once before.

some of the people on etsy make amazing products. I'm currently eyeing a handmade leather case for the Nexus 7 that resembles The Doctor and River Songs journal in Doctor Who.

well I took the t989 apart tonight and the power button inside was dangling. so I quickly broke it the rest of the way in my haste to see what was wrong with it.. other than that I ripped the little tape that goes from the headset jack that connects to the top speaker (i presume).... now I see how easily parts can be replaced =]
but I need to buy the parts though and looked for an hour or more with no real luck and thought Id post here to see if anyone knew where to get/find these parts.
basically the power button is EDIT;:; the power button is getting a soldering gun =]
i need that [music earplug] 3.5mm jack part that connects to the mic and the vibration ( thanks for the 411 ) that reads 30zm on the top and looks like 1a1705 on the bottom and one of the tiny screws to complete the device
anyone knows where to look or a link would be very helpful and much appreciated. thanks ~Rushing
all this just after I made the first odexed jellybeast ROM =[
here is a pic of the part i need.. my hand looks different than most lol im from elsewhere... we crashed after I tried to fix the ship. my bad =[ =] now i reside here. Earth... we couldnt get the parts... =]
http://www.parts4repair.com/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-t989/ not sure if this helps but try this and see
I believe the part that broke is your vibrating module.
Heres a link for a replacement piece.

And heres a two pack of the broken power button.

However keep in mind, these replacement parts are usually not the same quality as the OEM.

That is kind of you.
Where I work we do phone and tablet repairs, I work mainly on laptops But we have all the tools to re-flow and re-ball we are starting to do PS3 and XBOX360 gpu re-balls. The magnification visor is my favorite tool in the shop when it comes to working on a phone and cheap. Makes it really easy to see the tiny stuff your messing with. I recommend for any of you wanting to try and fix your phone's.
Yeah I bought the shell and everything brand new on eBay for 90 bucks battery had exploded and fried the mother board which I knew it wasn't gonna work before I bouhjt it then bought another motherboard some one had soft brick for 90 bucks

Hey guys,
Can any of you suggest a Bumper to me for my GSM Gnex? The reason I am asking is because mine has a small chip in the screen (no crack, *phew*) at the very bottom.
I like thin phones and I have seen in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D4Ff3xX4iw&feature=youtube_gdata_player that there is one that fits my needs. However, the link does not work for it.
So I am asking if any of you have a link for this product, or a very similar one. I would like to be out of the same materials.
Thanks!
I have one to recommend.

Anyone know of a reputable source for the case above? Just recevied my case and it wasnt the color I asked for or the style pictured. Not worth sending it back to china and eBay buyer protection wont have me backed in case I got the wrong item again.
I have always used my p6 without any cover, as I find it a very attractive phone. The problem is that, after a year and a half, the back cover was full of scratches. So I though, what would happen if I rub out the black tint from it? Well, this is what I got:
Honestly, I did not like it at the very beginning, but after two days I am very happy of what I did, now scratches are not noticeable
NOTE: My warranty is probably gone for ever :silly:
Paint it with plasti dip!, you got balls for doing that to your phone lol
Haaa! Well done.
