Hello everyone,
I owned HTC Desire almost a year ago and used with Cyanogenmod 7 all the time. I wanted to switch to any rom that comes with HTC Sense UI, but everyone makes a trouble establishing connection to wifi (all of them are 2.3 gingerbread). When i want to connect to network is says 'connecting and disconnected', so its impossible to connect. I bought it with radio v5.11.05.14 but upgraded to 5.17.05.23. First i thought it was radio issue, but no problems with cyanogenmod so far. Also downgrading back to previous version didnt solve my problems.
What might be wrong?
I tried:
* Supernova
* Cool3D
* Runny Rom
EDIT: I have just restored stock firmware shipped by device (2.2 Froyo) - yep i've done nandroid (there is even no root access)
And this problem still occurs. I cannot connect to WiFi So, really, the only rom with working wifi is cyanogenmod... What the hell?
EDIT2: After some more investigations looks like Cyanogenmod is able to connect to 802.11n wifi while stock-based mods not (b/g only). Can anyone tell me how is that possible that 802.11n compatible hardware is so limited by stock firmware and if it is normal? I would really like to be able to connect to N-only networks.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello,
I am running a Stock rooted rom at the moment. However, whenever I Skype and use it like a handset, the WiFi gets cut off (well, slowed to the extent that the connection fails). It does this regardless of my Sleep Policy I setup (I set it to Never).
This is really annoying to me... Thus I ask of you fellow Desire Owners, is there another ROM that would fix this bug? Or can I update the WiFi Module? What are my options here? I would like to keep SenseUI, or everything as-is, just remove the wifi-sleep bug
In LeeDrOiD rom this feature works pretty well, I can guarantee that. The rom has sense.
Swyped from my HTC Desire with CM7.
Could you lead me to a tutorial or guide how to apply it? I only used the unrevoked 3 thingy to root Thanks!

Also AFAIK 99% custom ROM's have this setting under your control.
Before I get to the main question I want to establish what I do know/have read (correct me where I'm wrong) and what I have tried:
1. Wifi Tethering does work on ICS and up roms, but only in ad-hoc mode.
2. This means that most android devices will not scan and connect to my wifi hotspot because they do not allow ad-hoc connections.
3. In order for said android devices to tether to and connect to a wifi hotspot, the hotspot must support infrastructure mode.
4. One can be enable ad-hoc support on a device trying to connect to the hospot by hacking the wpa supplicant thing (this is where I get fuzzy) on rooted devices.
My devices:
Verizon Incredible 2 (vivow) rooted with s-off
Radio: 1.09.01.0312
Roms tested on:
TSM UKB II 1.3.1
CM10 for the inc2 (aerovan)
IC Tazz Sense 3.6 ICS
Coredroid GB 2.3.5
MIUI 2.7.27 R1 (nitsuj)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7+ (p6210) non-rooted with 4.0.4 updated via KIES
Radio: Stock
Roms tested on: Stock
Laptop with Wifi Card
What I have tried:
Before I upgraded to ICS on my rooted Inc2, wifi tethering worked fine and was able to connect to my tablet and pc just fine. I was running Coredroid based on a GB 2.3.5 with a modified Sense. This led me to believe that infrastructure mode is supported on the Inc2, it is only software based. Then I initially upgraded to MIUI, and attempted to wifi tether to no avail, so I downloaded and ran the wifi tether apk from code.google.com, and attempted to run it again through a 3rd party app. Neither succeeded. I have tried this with Barnacle from the Play Market based on people's recommendations over in the developer's section and it successfully established an ad-hoc tether, which my pc picked up successfuly, but not my tablet.
I then tried this on an updated Sense (although modified) such as Tazz's and UKB's rom, and the same situation happened. This led me to believe that infrastructure support for wifi tethering isn't related to Sense (from what I understand Sense is just a Rosie apk with aesthetics and widgets only), so I went with an aosp rom such as aerovan's CM 10 (also CM 9 btw), while flashing kernels v12-14 and still no luck.
My Question:
Is there something with ICS and up roms that caused developers to remove infrastructure support from wifi tethering that their older Gingerbread cousins had? Perhaps it's something they haven't gotten around to addressing, and the forums are filled with "works for me" and "doesn't work for me" threads but nobody seems to address the ad-hoc vs infrastructure support (which leads me to believe the people who say it works are referring to ad-hoc and so forth). What can be done to move forward on this subject?
I think that's where kernel source becomes the main key factor. Dont quote me on that but that would be my best guess.
So I found a temporary fix for infrastructure mode tethering on rooted Inc 2s, and it goes back to wireless tether app I mentioned over at code.google.com. For some reason the newest beta releases don't work well with the Inc 2, but the wireless_tether_2_0_8-pre1.apk experimental build does successfully connect android devices and data streams through it.
If someone can pass this along to the devs over in the android development section that'd be great so they can take a look at the apk (assuming they didn't ) and maybe integrate it into their next rom interations.
Happy tethering!
Hi guys,
since a couple weeks I have a problem with the WIFI connection.
In the WIFI settings, I switch the settings for WIFi sleep policy to "never". But most every hour, when the display is off, the wifi connection breaks down for a around 10 sec. and the Gio tried to reconnect the the Wlan.
I realised that by using "whatsapp". Some messages came with a delay (~1 or 2hour(s))
Its not a whatsapp problem.. I checked the wifi connections on my router. On one day, I have roundabout 20 - 25 wifi connections from my Gio.
(2 other Android phone running very stable on the same router)
i had used the cm 7.2 from phiexz, than I switched to olddroids cm 10.x and now back to CM 7 from MoltenMotherBoard (Nightly 20130318).
Since I switched first time to olddroids rom I have the problems with the wifi
what could happened?
thanks for any ideas

(sorry for my english... I´m on training )
I have a problem with wifi as well... just my home wifi though when I walk out of range of the wifi it dc's the wifi as normal but when I get back into range my phone refuses to reconnect to wifi until I restart the router. I have tried various roms and this still happens even on the stock rom.
All other phones at home dont have this problem only the Gio.
Anyone have any idea's on what could be the cause or how to fix this?

1. Have you updated to the latest Old Droid CM10.1?
2. Did you format your Gio to ext4 before flashing any custom ROMs?
3. What ROM did you use before phiexz cm7.2? (Stock 2.3.x?)
4. And what version of cm7.2 phiexz did you use before flashing to cm10.1 old droid?
Sometimes flashing a custom ROM and then another without properly wiping can leave traces of the previous ROM. They may interfere with the new ROM and cause things to go a little wonky. Also, some ROMs may have wifi issues that have not been fixed. The best thing to do would be to wipe your phone and flash your region's stock ROM. After trying many ROMs, I have found that the least buggy and best ROM is stock (with modifications, of course). Even if you don't want stock ROM, I strongly recommend that you wipe your phone, flash stock, format the phone to ext4, and THEN flash your preferred custom ROM. For good, bugless ROMs, I recommend Maclaw's AOSP ICS, Maclaw's CM9, snowpluralism's S'Periance ROM , voetbalremco's Adrenaline ROM, and many more.

hi,
thanks for your answer,
yes, I formated the Gio to ext4 before flashing (a lot of ROMs are do it by it self).
Before I had used the stock ROM before I had used the phiexz ROM and a couple of month, everythink was ok.
I flashed back the stock ROM and everythink with the Wifi works fine. No kind of disconnections.
Now I flash to the "Enhanced236 - stock 2.3.6 (06.08.2012 update)" and also to the "CyanogenMod 7 | MoltenMotherBoard (Nightly 20130318)"
(first full wipe, than format the ext4 than flashing the ROM), and on both ROMs are the same kind of WiFi problems. The connection break down for a few seconds and reconnect several times (up to 5 times in an hour!!!).
I have no ideas whats happend and I dont like the stock ROM
Hi Folks,
Wifi is dropping when the phone is sleeping on the HTC One M8 GPE on 4.4.4, 5.0.x Official and Unofficial ROMS like CM12.
I also know im not the only one as per the thread here (Not me who started that incidentally):-
http://www.reddit.com/r/htcone/comments/2rcga0/htc_one_m8_gpe_501_wifi_issue_anyone/
Its not the Keep Wifi On during sleep option as that is set to Always. Its not the router as all other devices are working absolutely fine.
I've tried setting 2.4ghz only, different wifi authentication modes (WPA only, WPA2 Only, WPA/WPA2, TKIP / Auto / AES etc) no help.
I've tried the official 5.0.1 ROM, CM12 at 5.02, and CM back at 4.4.4 again - all the same issue.
I suspect the issue is with the firmware on the GPE RUU which i originally installed here:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708589 (Incidentally my cidnum is GOOGL001)
Im thinking about flashing an RUU for stock 4.4.4 which should include an older firmware for the Wifi but i wondered if anyone had found a solution to this issue?
Also, im wondering if there is anyone on GPE who doesnt have this issue and converted, can i ask if you used the rooted or unrooted version of the ruu?
Flashed the 4.4.4 RUU after mucking about with this for weeks. (Note simply using a 4.4.4 ROM like CM12 obviously wasn't enough.)
Problem gone.
So it's a firmware issue with the 5.0.1 RUU.
Got to say, despite not being on lollipop any more, having xposed, gravitybox, working WiFi and I'm wondering why I put up with lollipop for so long.
I'm having the same issue on gpe 5.1, so there's nothing we can do to fix it?
Hello folks,
am i the only person which wants to use 5ghz wifi connections?
Ive tested different 6.0 Roms from the dev section and they all act the same:
95% 5ghz networks wont listed
5% they are listed but wont connected without any reason, they accept the pass and thats all
On Stock Sony Roms 5.x all is great, also on different custom roms with 4.x oder 5.x
How to help devs to find out whats wrong?
