Also I'm pretty sure you flashed a rom for a different phone because the AOKPs for our phone are named something like aokp-hercules-selfkang_620 (the numbers at the end vary)
Edit: yeah you definitely flashed for the wrong phone. Just because you're in a Galaxy s ii forum doesn't mean its the correct one sorry about your phone but you HAVE to read before flashing hopefully this will be a good learning experience for you. Again sorry about the brick

I Googled that filename and I'm getting an I777 build of AOKP. I'm pretty sure you can't flash I777 builds on this phone. You're probably hard bricked.
Read, read, read before doing anything other than using the stock software!!! Always make sure you are flashing something made specifically for your device! I hear some of the Skyrocket builds are compatible, but I would double check, and then triple check. Or do what I do and just stay away from them to be safe.
Someone else can confirm whether I777 ROMs work, but if not, you will need to try a warranty replacement or get it JTAGed by MobileTechVideos.
I'm not sure why you were trying to flash an old build anyway, they are on Build 39...but that's another story. Good luck, hope you get it worked out.

Before trying to help you allow to ask two questions: Does your PC "see" the phone? If so as what?

nope. pc does not detect anythin

nope nothings happening. no pc detection no powering on NOTHING.

lol, you done goofed. next time you should only flash things that you find in tmo gs2 forums. ahaha. You defs need a JTAG unless you can get it in download mode. Also, WRONG SECTION.

Questions go in the Q&A section

You might need a S RIFF Box JTAG Boot Repair/Unbrick, make some searches in your area or on the internet to find a qualified person/company to do that for you.

This is not his problem that he is experienceing. If it is not powering up at all then it is truely a hard brick.
I did this to my phone last week and no matter what I tried, i could not bring it back.
check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707021
I almost gave up and was willing to try to do a warranty exchange (knowing it was not going to be honored).
Sent it to the guys listed on my thread. I guess you have to have software and hardware to basically rewrite the firmware on the phone then put a stock ROM on it.
Luckily I had a restore point already on my external SD card and was able to get everything back.
Its not cheap but it did work for me!

good luck. sorry for your loss

Its really unfortunate but this type of thing happened to my friend and he had to get an entirely new phone

As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants. Bricks might happens or a soft one might happen. Before flashing a Rom make sure you are in the right development section an you read the entire op, twice. Until other devs or experienced users find a way to make them cross compatible, please refrain from using other carriers S3 roms.

That's slick!:good:
hard brick - a pretty paperweight (tonight)
should have been more careful, soft bricked the phone, 2 times trying to change the dpi.
once trying to flash a rom - the rom flash, took it to QHSUSB_DLOAD mode, not impressed but i'll take this downtime as a time to relax.
Another way to avoid a brick; Don't use a mod, theme, tool or ROM until it's confirmed by multiple people in the community that it's working properly. Read the last 3-4 pages of a thread

I agree with you, I ended up with a soft brick stuck at the samsung glowing logo after trying to unroot because I got a crack the front plastic near the headphone jack. I managed to reset the flash counter and install the rom but odin failed at the end. Now I'm hesitant to flash another ROM. Anyone else here waiting for JellyBean Rom? Definitely take your time and always make sure your computer installs the drivers before doing anything! I got BB to exchange it for me since they couldn't get it to boot and the mystery crack wasn't my fault. I only had it for like 3 days IN A CASE TOO. Happy Flashing dudes.
I'm just glad i saw a forum for the gs3. I would've bricked my phone after i got it.
Another bricker my own fault went to unroot to take in for service and went and loaded a wrong .tar file of the stock system. Anyway...not looking for sympathy..just wanted to say thanks for the forum that gave me the tools to fix my mistake

ANyhow I ended up with a QHSUSB_DLOAD device...looking hard to unbrick...

Whats the trick for a Hard Brick??

I can get Qhsusb_dload to show up from time to time on my PC when it connects. but I went to try and flash the Slim Rom from the original android section and it bricked my phone. no screen light up or anything. no LED flashing. i just get Qhsusb_dload when i connect to a PC.
What tricks can i do to get odin to see this.

You need an attitude check. This was posted in Q&A, he had a question and needs help. If this was posted in the wrong forum, I could MAYBE see this kind of attitude but not here. You were helpful in giving him a link to get his device repaired, but the rest of it was just uncalled for.

As far as I know, he is right about JTAG being your only repair option. This may sound like an obvious question, but I have seen this happen before. Are you sure you were downloading from the right forum? (i.e. not accidentally downloading a ROM meant for another carrier.)
I'm kind of curious how this happens. Never heard of bricking from simply flashing a rom.

If rom is for another carrier or the international version of the S3 (i believe the I9300) then it'll brick it quick.
I thought the i9300 is the sprint version. i had looked it up... but oh well. I did more research i missed one step which may have caused it, or my download corrupted. But my next option is to find someone with a Jtag in my area.

Yup you flashed the wrong ROM. I had this happen on my Evo 3D, I don't remember which ROM it was but someone had linked to it from the CDMA forum and I took their word for it being a CDMA ROM. It was GSM. Fortunately I was still able to load hboot and loaded clockwork mod via fast boot. I'm sure you've tried going into download mode or recovery a hundred times by now, but one hundred and one wouldn't hurt. Make sure you are pressing the right buttons in the right combination and letting go at the right time. Honestly I think the SIII is a pain to get into D/L or recovery mode. It always takes me a few tries. If you can do that, you won't need to JTAG it. Good luck!

Need help - Probably Bricked S3

Hi all. I am pretty sure I bricked my wife's S3 when I tried to root it using the following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682 - has nothing to do with the tool kit, more like user error. I have rooted multiple past phones and my current note 2. I got to the odin part and it did it's thing but nevere rebooted to go to the next step. I cannot get into recovery, the computer doesn't recognize the phone now and the screen doesn't do anything. Any ideas? I am pretty sure I bricked it and will need to get a new phone for her.
Appreciate any help or confirmation of a new paper weight.
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 via Tapatalk!
Does the device do anything at all when you try to power it on? What exact steps did you take when you attempted to root the device? If the phone does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, not even vibrate, then your looking at a hard brick. If it does vibrate and/or you can at least get to the splash screen, then it's a soft brick and stuck in a boot loop.

It does sound like it is bricked. In the future, never unplug the phone while Odin is flashing it. (Im assuming this is what you did?) Always wait until it says PASS, RESET, or FAIL. Sometimes it can hang for 20 or more minutes, but it should always eventually show one of those 3 results.
Just to be sure though. Pull the battery, then put it back in. Try to boot into Download Mode. Try to boot into Recovery. If you can get one of these you are probably not bricked. If you cannot get to either one, and you cannot boot normally, then I am afraid you are bricked.
This does not mean you need to buy a new phone however. What it needs is something called a JTAG fix. You can probably find several shops online that will do this for you, but the one that always gets mentioned around here is http://mobiletechvideos.com
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but I hope this helps you. If you do get it fixed, next time I suggest rooting with the root66 method. It is much safer imo, at least I see a lot fewer problems with it.
Good Luck!
Thanks for the info. I did get the reset and waites for just over 15 minutes. Nothing was happening and I thought it was bricked so I did unplug it. When I used the same tool to root my N2 it took less than 5 minutes for the entire process.
I will check out the link. Appreciate your help! Thank you.

Thanks for getting back. He screen doesn't come on at all, but it does vibrate once after a battery pull and then nothing. I followed the steps and got to "reset" in odin where it was waiting for the phone to reboot and after 15+ minutes I thought "crap" bricked it. Unplugged, which I would screw it up which it did. I am going to look into the company DocHoliday77 mentioned below. Worth a shot as cheaper than buying another phone.

I really doubt it would be that simple. But I think I understand what you are getting at. It would entirely depend on what was flashed. If the rom he flashed was scripted to flash to mmcblk0p2 or mmcblk0p7 for example, there is no way something like that would help. But even if something less sensitive was overwritten, such as /system, as long as it did not screw up the partition layout, you would likely still have access to recovery and download mode.
The more I think about it, the more I believe theres no way to make that work if the device is truly bricked.

There are probably quite a few different places online. And I'm all for saving money, but the reason I only ever mention mobiletechvideos is because theyre the only ones who people have mentioned around here in the past. And everyone who did use them and posted here about it said it was a good, fast service. If there were other places mentioned where someone actually used them, I'd mention both by name. But until someone does, the only place Ive seen reviewed by XDA members in our forums remains mobiletechvideos.com. Its up to the customer to decide.

Update: I've been able to flash the Illusion Rom with no Fail message but it just boots to the Samsung Galaxy Splash and doesn't move like it's loading the greatest cut scene ever. So yea still stuck if anybody could help out
Ok I can most likely help but I need more information. Give me a link to the thread you followed and the rom you flashed. Please send it in a PM so others wont see it and try to do the same thing.
Another user recently posted a video link to something claiming the same thing in one of my rom threads. I have ported over a Verizon rom to sprint and it is not a simple thinbg to do. Wish you would have seen this in my thread before you tried it. Hopefully I can get you up and running again.

Waiting on him to get in touch with me.
So why would he say it would work. Is flashing Verizon note 2 roms on our sprint note 2?

I have no clue why he would claim it to work. I googled it and in the thread he is referring to the rom I ported over from verizon. It will not work as he states. You can try it of you want but I am telling you the person who posted it is wrong.

I went to that forum and read everything along with the comments. Looks like they really have no clue what they are doing. The users who did not mess up their device (non sprint users) do not have working wifi because they do not have the proper information. There are specific files on each device that is needed and they were not told to change them. I left a mostly nice comment about their steps for sprint.
Sorry guys I was already heading to bed when you guys started messaging back. I appreciate you guys taking the time out to help me with my problem. jlmancuso I've sent you that PM with hopefully all the information you need and requested.
Update: I have just attempted to Flash the stock firmware from samsung-updates.com through ODIN and I am unfortunately still getting no further than the Samsung Galaxy Note II splash and of course I've also lost TWRP
Final Update: After flashing the stock firmware back to my phone I went into the basic recovery mode that it has and did a factory reset yet again and apparently that did it and my phone is back to it's normal self.
Thanks for your help guys ... kinda lol
