pop3 email notifications - stock email app - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is anyone using the stock email app for POP3 mail? If so, are you getting notifications in the upper left of your home screen like with SMS and GMail? I have mine set to sync and also check every 15 minutes but I am not getting a notification on the home screen. When I open the app the email is there though.

Yes, it works fine for me. If you look into settings in the account, there is one for notifications. Is it checked?

Oddly enough, it started working on its own....

despite disabled I get GMail notification

gents,
I disabled the notification of new emails in all my accounts.
It works in all but my GMail Accounts. I still get the "M" logo in the top-bar.
Is it a bug?
So you went into the Gmail app and turned off new email notifications?

Exactly.
I noticed that it is only my primary mail Account that notifies.
There are 2 email apps on the desire. Make sure you go into both and disable the notification.
Could be a bug in yours, I turned off notifications and missed 4 emails
Yeah u r right about 2 Apps. The Gmail App needed configuration too
Thanx 4 the help

Multiple email notification sounds

Does anyone else get the email notification sound going off every 5 minutes for the same email? Is there a way to only have it happen once?

Not that I know of, are you using gmail? If so open gmail and hit menu>more>settings and at the bottom there's an option to "only notify once, not for every new message", but I'm sure this will help with what you're describing. Best of luck.
Thats all i can think of too. Give it a try.
its actually sense email, i cannot figure it out, using skyraider
are these two separate email accounts or did you set up your gmail through your sense mail app too? the gmail is a native app. if this is all obvious, i'm just trying to cover all of the bases since you didn't clarify.
not two separate accounts but this happens with chomp or handcent and the messaging app with android as well, you have to go in and tell one not to notify you

Exchange push bug

I have an email in the stock mail app using exchange activesync. I decided I didn't need it to push the emails so I set it to check every half hour. I just noticed that it is still pushing all email to me instead of checking every half hour. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Mine is set to 15 min and works properly.
If you enter the mail app, it refreshes right away.

I'm not in the mail app. If I send an email to the exchange account I will get a notification almost instantly that I got an email in that account. Shouldn't it be waiting until the half hour is up and then check for email and then I get the notification that email has come in?
It sounds like yours is still pushing. Maybe your exchange server is enforcing some kind of push policy.

For me it's pushed automatically but notification is not playing for any emails

A better mail app?

I just bought a One X to replace my iPhone 4, mostly happy about it, except the mail app is a bit frustrating
Firstly, iPhone almost always loads the full email instantly, and the ICS app only loads the text version and I have to press a button to load images and that could take an extra few seconds per email
Second, there is no next/previous button? I have to press the back button and select another mail to open it...
Lastly, whenever I receive a new email, iPhone notifies me instantly and I'm a slide of a bar away from viewing the full email, with ICS the notification system doesn't even work for me, I have to refresh the mail app in order to see the new email.
Is there any way to fix this?
I'm using Hotmail
Use the hotmail app from Microsoft. Much better imo. Has push notifications and pinch to zoom.

I am using HTC Mail to work with Gmail. Unless I select a frequent receiving interval, the time getting the new incoming email seem a bit later than what I have used in Windows Phone and iPhone. The best mail client is iPhone that it almost get the email after couple of minutes after sender dispatching the email.
K9 mail https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fsck.k9&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5mc2NrLms5Il0.
Or make an active sync account in the default mail app and set it to push.
My recommendation would be to install "Touch down for smart phones". It is the best mail app that i have found for my hotmail account and also does exchange.

Just rooted and installed a custom Rom. It appears my Vodafone handset had a lot of the email settings disabled. I can now have push mail and html messages in stock app.
Who was your phone from ?

Email App

I try to use Stock Email App. I found push option only to be with Microsoft exchange (others have only Smart Sync or 5 minuts minimum). I tried to use it but I have a problem.
Once I receive the email and read it, it does not update the server that I have read the email and it is still marked as unread on google.com site.
IS there any solutions?
Use the gmail app

He says on the google.com site so I'm assuming it's gmail
I am using Gmail.
With Gmaill app I dont have banner notification on lock screen and no unread mail counter.
have you checked the notification settings are correct?
the app also cannot display an unread count on the icon - you need a launcher such as apex or to use an app like this
