I was running tdj darkside 7.1 att build. I did something dumb and had to reflash the rom. I reflashed per the OP's instructions and it said installation aborted "bad". It was the same zip I used originally. Anyone have a idea of what went wrong?

Whatever you did might have affected the zip file. If you reflashed super wipe should've taken care of other stuff.. have you checked the md5 also try redownloading again and see or you a different rom..

Are you using the same version of recovery? I had a problem with AOKP flashing using touch recovery and had to switch back.

could be a cross linked file, bad packets during copy, just copy another over top of it

I didn't check the md5 because it was the same zip I'd used to flash it the first time. I had tdjs latest T-Mobile build and tried to flash it but it wouldn't boot. Thankfullyi had had DW 2.5.1 one my SD card and it flashed fine. So I'm back on GB til I have some time to re - download Derek's ics roms

look for the file on your phone using ASTRO MANAGER, long press and click DETAILS. All the way in the bottom it should give you the md5.
if this doesn't work their is also other programs out there that can be use full. Try this first and comeback to leave feedback.
The updater binary or script

definitely sounds like a bad download
This is actually the second rom I tried to flash.
First rom was miui and it said the something. I thought it was just a bad link.

you can try flashing a new CWM
try another ROM?

go back to stock and flash again?

yup. not from any folders.
oh sorry didn't see this post, but basically the MD5 checksum allows us to check if the file we downloaded exactly matches the original file
example (not real obviously)
Thursday ROM has a MD5 of 1234abcde
but what you downloaded has 2234abcde
that means you have a bad download. there is probably a couple bytes different in your download.
like both files can both be 300.1MB
but they might actually be 300.12 and yours is 300.10
THATS why md5 saves us a lot of time
NOT all md5 are listed, but thats the gist of it.
oh and remember your SDCARD card is
sdcard/external_sd/
That's the thing I tried a couple of roms and they all failed. So I'm pretty sure it's my phone.
In this case scenario what should I do to re root my phone. I know there's a couple different ways such as unrooting to sell.
So which method should I approach?
Thanks for all your help btw!

You don't need to Reroot, rooting is just superuser.. it just sounds like you need to get a new recovery that's all. You're already rooted right?
then just download Rom manager and reflash the CWM recovery in there.
Yes i am rooted. Can you link me to a site where I can dl a rom manager?

If you did it right then you should be up and running with no problems. If you are having issues you need to be more specific so people can help. Also, if you flashed format_all, then flashed the ROM, you need to go to the ROM Updater and pick up part 2 of the ROM (it finishes theming Gtalk), download and flash it.
Going to be away for the evening but if you'll give some further details there are others running this ROM who can assist.
Good luck

I' am trying to restore CWM from TWRP using Marcusant's zip file but TWRP does not allow the zip to be flashed and gives out a "unknown md5 error" message. I' am getting this message for every flashable file of mine (each of these have worked without any problem with cwm before) and I' am unable to flash any other Rom after flashing MIUI rom...wana get out of it and continue flashing other roms...
I cannot post into Marcusant's thread as my "10 posts" goal is yet to be reached ! Can someone help ?

Don't do this... if your on mtd, which you are if your using twrp you can't odin in any recovery... you either have to odin to complete stock or hope the restore.zip ends up working... or a kernel flash works....

Gonna have to odin back to stock and start over. Everything you need can be found in the sticky in development how to unbrick... (while its not a brick, this is the method you need)

hi guys,
alright some i'm new to this forum. i wouldnt consider myself that great at rooting and flashing etc but i'm getting the hang of it. been following qbking77 cuz he is like my god lol
anyway, i need to post at least 10 times before i can post on the thread that i wanna post on and i searched a little bit but cant seem to find what i'm looking for. and btw i have an Epic 4g.
ok, so ive noticed everyone saying i have CM10 or 9 and this and that and then they say they are on FC19 or El22 etc. I want to know how do i update/change that stuff, what my options are, and what would those benefits be?
i'm currently running CM10 build 9/14 by nightlies on stock FC09. will be going to the most recent build soon but want to maybe play with the baseband version. thanks guys.
You are correct. It is the baseband aka modem software on your phone. There is a thread in development that allows you to flash with clockwork mod and another thread that has you changing modems with Odin.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Since you're on CM10, your first stop should be this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30433583
Should give you better service/speed than any Epic modem.

The modem package includes a modified kernel. You must flash the ROM first, or its included kernel won't recognize the Nexus modem.

it keeps failing. i downloaded this: http://darkierawr.com/Android/Users/xboxfanj/nexusmodempatchcm10prevAIO.zip

the only way i could get that file to install was if i did it before the CM10 rom. when i do it after it fails. so i wiped cache and dalvik again and just installed CM10 and now i still have unknown baseband version. what do i do? will i have to do a data reset?
Try mounting system and data in recovery.

i accidently wiped date, then cache, then dalvik, mounted system and then mounted data. flashed CM10 and then tried the modem and it still failed.
nevermind! i accidently mounted sd card instead of system. wiped everything rebooted recovery, mounted system and data and installed both zips. booting up now. taking a while for the animation tho....
