What is needed to get a microphone hooked up with kindle fire?

Get a TRRS-plug microphone-headphones combo that will plug into the headphone jack. Skype only works one way, I don't think google voice or grooveip work at all. Some voice recorder apps work though. I'm not sure if a microphone without headphones will work, but I haven't tried.

Anybody know if voip is working on Fire at all?

Hi,
I've had A2DP working on my in-car audio for a while now - but it seems not to work with the mic anymore. It uses the phone mic instead of the headunit one.
Does anyone know if there's anything I can alter to force it to use the BT one, or is it likely ROM/Kernel/Radio specific?
FWIW I'm running the latest Modaco ROM with franco milestone 4.
Thanks
Make sure you have phone checked in the Bluetooth settings.

Yep, both phone and media are ticked.
I have been having the same issue ever since I upgraded to JB. When I make phone calls through my car stereo the sound comes out of the speakers fine but it wont use the stereo microphone it keeps using the phone mic.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Same issue here. been searching for a fix to no avail. Also miss being able to choose the app that responds to my cars bluetooth button. Would like that to initiate Google now, text by voice or vlingo...

I'm having a similar problem, my GN connects to my car (or my BT speaker or headset) and shows connected on both the device and the GN. But it doesn't use the device even if it appears it should. I'm just running the latest JB image, and everything worked fine yesterday. I've rebooted, I've unpaired, now I need some more suggestions!
Thanks in advance!

I reloaded the latest image of JB to my phone and now the BT is back to working correctly. I'm thinking the DockStation app for my Philips dock caused the issue, but can't confirm.
When I had a crackberry and had it paired with my Bluetooth on my car I could hit a button on the module in my car and it would launch voice dialing on the berry. With an android phone it doesn't. I am wondering if there was a way or an app that could monitor for the button or give me the same Bluetooth config of the berry so I could gain that back.
I love hands free dialing and I've tried apps like vlingo but they seem too unusuable still.
Any suggestions here would be great!

You should check out tasker, it can pick up blue tooth commands and perform what you want.
Swiftkey'ed on my CM9 Galaxy Nexus
Unfortunately that didn't work for me very well.
It seems like the button in question doesn't register on android at all.
Not sure if that's the 'fault' of the car's audio system or a weakness int he btooth apk.
Oh well.
Probably should just get a headset.

I have Sony MW600 connected to my phone, and when I push the hang up button on that one, voice calling starts up.

Not sure if its just me but I have a problem on TWA_privs latest 8/31 build where when I plug in headphones It takes while for the kindle to read it for it to work. It just takes a while for my headphone sound to start working and also sometimes the sound just stops working randomly. This problem only occurs with anything connected to he headphone jack and the earphones/ headphones aren't the problem
Any one?
No one else with the same problem?
just got this installed after the whole day working at it

Not sure what you consider awhile. I am running the same rom and my headphones produce sound about 3 seconds after being plugged in. I haven't had any problems with the sound cutting out.

I want to know if its possible to pair some bluetooth headphones with the fire tv since it does have bluetooth? I would be nice to be able to watch a movie using bluetooth headphones with the unit. Only makes sense that this should be a feature.

Did you ever get this to work? If so, how did you do it? Roommates are complaining about my late night tv watching habits.

Yes if you install the Android Settings.apk you can make the FireTV pair with bluetooth audio devices. However with both devices I tried, a headset and a speaker, there's horrendous audio lag that makes it basically unusable. I guess I'll just wait for official support from Amazon.

Dang that sucks, this thing really needs a be update now because so far it's missing a lot of things.

Have you used the audio offset feature to correct the lag ? I had to use it to correct the lag while using my Ouya and a Bluetooth enabled powered PA speaker.

There's a good chance the next update will come June 18th when Amazon reveals their smartphone. I would expect the Fire TV will need to be updated in order to interact with the phone.

It's not a constant lag on the firetv, lag increases the longer you play something.
All you need to do is connect a USB Bluetooth receiver that often comes with the headphones and pair it with that directly. Get a multi-USB hub so you can connect various other things to it also. I'm using everything with the USB port like air mouses etc. and all work perfectly and it doesn't require any settings or rooting.
where to get a working settings.apk ?
I used settings.apk to pair my headphones. Music plays just fine. However playing an .mkv video thru XBMC-Kodi did not work at all. I just got really loud static -- I guess there was a problem with the dts audio. Knowing there was an audio lag anyway, I didn't mess with the XBMC setting to downmix.
Cross posting from the bigger thread...
I successfully paired my bluetooth headset using settings.apk method - thanks!
However - Bluetooth only puts audio out of my headset for SIDELOADED apps - but not apps from FireTV's app sources, i.e. NETFLIX. (I even confirmed by installing NETFLIX and sideloading NETFLIX - audio comes out differently ...)
Does anyone else experience this?

Why is Bluetooth working so well wire AFTV now? Not complaining, just wondering.
Xbmc contained apps are still delayed but native apps are perfectly synced...
Hi everyone so I installed a Nexus 7 in my car I mainly use it for navigation and music with an aux cable I can listen to music fine but not navigation voice. Is there anyway i could make the navigation sound from speakers?
I'm running CM 12.
Thanks for the help ?

I was playing around the other day and noticed that too. It seems that it can't do both at the same time. Don't know the limitations though. Paired phone to test and it can do it so I don't know what gives.
I don't wanted it to do both things at the same time. When I'm using nav I don't usually play music.
Do you use 3.5mm jack cable or bluetooth ?
My issue is that the google maps voice is way to loud compared to my spotify music.

Google Maps has a built in option to adjust navigation voice volume. Have you tried that?
You can use aux 3.5 mm jack and instal SoundAbout in your tablet to disable Microphone from Headsets. You don't have headsets, you have only an auxiliar cable and it is detected as headsets. After that you can use sound in car speakeres and voice for calling or voice commands from original tablet microphone.
