So you want it to blink even though there is no notification at all??? Just when its sleeping???
Kinda seems like a waste of battery to me dude. Why would you want it to blink for no reason?

What would be the point?

Use light flow. Set a notification for when you have signal and that should be just about all the time. Could also set a different notification for when you don't have signal.
Who cares what the point is if he wants to do it he wants to do it.. jeez. The light flow notification for signal should work by the way.

I don't why but that app won't work on my phone. I am using AOSP (I compiled from scratch) with google apps and root, nothing else. Does anyone else have any issues? I find these LED apps are hit and miss.

Last thing I want is a bright LED blinking when I'm trying to sleep. The LED is for notifications. If it blinks when charging, how would you know when you got a message?

By the color of the LED light of course.
It has an option to dim for sleeping.
I use it sometimes.

Light flow is the best for LED control IMO. It has a sleep mode that allows you to turn off LED notifications between whatever times you want and you can set notifications for most everything you need.

With Light Flow you can set the LED to stay on without blinking. And it will slowly cycle through other colors for any notifications you have besides the charging/charged notification. Also, you can tell a notification turn off after a certain amount of time
For instance, I have my charging indicator set to be a light green -- then when fully charged it switches to a dark green for 30 minutes, then shut off. So if I'm charging it overnight, I won't see the charging notification in the morning -- but I will see any other notifications since I tell everything else to stay on indefinitely.
You can also set the notifications for charging to be low priority. When a higher priority notification comes in, such as SMS or missed calls, the LED will stop blinking the colour of the charging indicator and only blink the higher priority notification instead.

Is there any way to keep the LED blinking or stay lit when the screen is on?
I'm thinking you can with light flow in certain situations, but to better understand your question, why would you want to?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Agreed that lightflow can do that for you. I just love the app now that I have a phone with led notification again

Keeping the led on kinda beats the point of using led notif..
Maybe OP works at high altitude and needs a beacon to be seen

To keep the LED on while the screen is on AOKP 26 has this built in. Have not seen any other wat to do it though.

Then light flow will work. There's an option to have the light turn off only after the specified app is entered.

I'm running Neutrino mod and have tried lightflow. But the LED only blinks if the screen is off. I have found no function to keep it on. am I missing something?

I haven't found an option like that either. I think our only option right now is to use AOKP or try and figure out how they are implementing it and make an app of our own.
As for those of you asking why you would want this, the answer in my case is full-screen apps that hide the notification bar. I have AOKP and was happy to be able to turn this feature on.
After updating to JB on my S3 I get a green LED notification when the screen is locked and in standby...I have no notifications and I do not have any LED control apps installed....
Ideas?
Thanks!

I have always (even on ICS) had a solid green notification LED when I had screen off and charging with the battery is full. Is that what you are seeing?
It's at 72% and NOT on the charger. Just sitting on my desk or wherever.....Doesn't seem to do it immediately after locking takes about 30 seconds. It only started after the update... Also turned of LED notifications of ALL kind in the settings and it still does it...
Think it's service led just letting you know you have cell coverage like some other phones

Anyway to turn that crap off...I can't seem to see an option for that...
I downloaded light flow and changed it

If I reboot it goes away until I get a message then it comes back after I've removed the message....
I love the led notification, nothing like waking up in the middle of the night and looking over and knowing you don't have any notifications because the light isn't going off... but when I don't need a flashlight BECAUSE it's going off it gets annoying... I wanna be able to go to sleep if I'm ignoring it; yet have it there to know I have things to look at.
(first world problem I know)

and spare me the obvious put something on top. I want something permanent that won't subtract from the look of my phone

Just turn it off???
Sure its nice to know if you have a message from afar but really? One of the first things I did when I got my GS3 and Note 2 was go into settings/display/LED Indicator/and unselect all boxes.
i don't think you can lower the intensity, but you can turn off the notifications and us an app called NoLED. it puts a notification on your screen instead. since OLED only lights up the active pixels the drain should be any more than the notification light. i use it with my sammy droid charge that has no notification lights.
Why not just go into settings and turn on Blocking Mode?
You can set the time frame it's active. It can keep led off, notifications, phone calls etc. You can change the settings for it.

From what I know, it remains in the notification panel, as long as Blocking is turned on.

Doesn't this device have a notification/charging LED? On the left of the speaker grill, there are two lenses or whatever they are, one I'm sure is the proximity sensor, the camera is further to the side, but what is the other?
Just found it curious that the GS3 has a notification light, the Galaxy Nexus had one, but this doesn't?
Light and proximity sensor. One of them is a two piece.

You have to have notification light in settings like the rom I am using now liquid smooth even then only messages will blink in status bar. The notification lights used are the capcitive lights at bottom of phone you can set it to blink fast , slow etc. Also you could try BLN from the market and see if it works for you.

I just downloaded NoLED, pretty cool little program, I don't like the phone button LED's to show charging and notifications so this is a good alternative.

Yupp one of the downsides to this phone but we have found ways around it. I use bln pro and have the hard keys blink when I have a text or notification

Yup! I recently just purchased BLN Pro because I'm now back on TW based ROMs and wanted the blink feature. Awesome little app.
If you're on an AOSP based ROM like CM, it does this natively and the app isn't needed.

Lol no, light isn't supposed to come out of there. The light sensor there measures how much light there is outside so it could change the screen brightness accordingly... sorry for the misunderstanding though. The only thing we have as notification lights is the bottom row of capacitive buttons.
