[Q] Adding Social Network Server to China firmware - Bada Software and Hacking General

So I have been working with the China firmware and I was attempting to add sns (Facebook, twitter) to the social hub. I have modified the SnsSpProfile.xml in csc from csc\SystemFS\Settings\PreConfiguration\Default\Use r\AccountConfig. After flashing, I see facebook etc. However, when I login it says "server timeout". It connects correctly to server because when I login with the wrong password, it says invalid email/password. Any ideas?
Edit 1. Editing SnsSvc.ini in csc\SystemFS\Settings\PreConfiguration\Default\Registry if I change
CommunitiesServerUrl=cn.mblog.samsungmobile.com.cn
HostUrl=https://cn-snsgw.samsungmobile.com/
to
CommunitiesServerUrl=mblog2.samsungmobile.com or mblog.samsungmobile.com
HostUrl=https://snsgw.samsungmobile.com/
Connection to facebook network does not work.

Further info:
I have attempt to do this the other way around. I have added renren and qzone to SnsSpProfile.xml for the Thailand firmware which contains facebook, linkedin, and twitter. I can now access the renren account; however, when accessing feeds in social hub, an error occurs if renren is enabled. For qzone, account cannot be added, oauth seems not to be supported as the website does not appear or there is still a file that I haven't found related to socialhub settings.
So far, the files I have modify are SnsSpProfile.xml, SnsSvc.ini, and SnsSvcSp.ini. Anyone have any ideas???

Sorry.
I'm from Germany...
So I can't test...
But maybe you could use WinComm for Logging...
Maybe additional infos you can find...

hello
sns is also in ShpApp\systemfs\Osp ans shp :sns xxx.so files

So I was gonna checkout Wincomm and I changed my debug level to high. My wave restarted and now its showing me a blue screen with text at the bottom To exit press 0 for 2sec. When i press center/menu button, I go to a upload data to PC screen. How do I get out of this/set my debug level back to low?

If you can't reach Menu to enter *#33284*#
So simple flash only RC2 file with Multiloader...
Example.
Rsrc2_S8500(Low).rc2
Only this 1 file. NOTHING else.

Exchange Problems! 0x800072F17

I really didn't want to post this, honest. I have searched xda. I have searched the web. I have found other threads. I have followed the suggestions. But, it seems that my exgirlfriend may have been right, I'm an idiot.
I can't get my Hermes to connect to my office exchange server. The settings on my end are correct, the issue is on my office's end.
When I sync I get an error and support code 0x80072F17. I know that it's a certificate error.
IT is not going to help me on this one, so I'm on my own. I have tried to manually import the certificate. Didn't work. I tried making a regedit I found on another thread. Didn't work. I tried combinations of various settings. I only time I don't get an error code is when my device begins to endlessly prompt me for my password.
I'm sorry to post, but it's my last option. Does anyone have any work arounds for this error? Is there a way to have my device ignore the certificates? Is there anyone out there that can help??
There must be some way. My colleagues, both of them with HTC Trinity's, original WM5 roms came across this error when the certificate on our Outlook Web Access was about to expire. Me, however, with my HTC TyTN WM6 never got this issue. I'm not sure why. I know I've installed a couple of cert cabs, the one they call sdkcerts.cab and one more. Search for that cab and see if it helps. I always figured it made the device accept non signed software but maybe it helps for these kinds of issues as well.
You just must set correct date and time for you phone and try again.
I'll try and give you a hand...
First off, you need to know a few things to set this up.
(1) The FQDN of you company used to access the OWA (Outlook Web Access), for example, mail.mycompany.com/exchange
(2) The NetBIOS name of your local domain at your office (Right click the My Computer icon on your office pc and select Computer Name and note the Domain. If your IT dept did it the recomended way it'll have a .local extension, for instance, lawoffice.local. You'll use just the domain name without the extension, ie: lawoffice. (without the period, LOL)
(3) I absolutely never use my PC to configure my ActiveSync on my devices, just to initailly copy the certificate to the Storage Card.
Two ways to do the certificate. First is the method I always used until I discovered the second method, which is in my sig.
(BTW, substitute YOUR FQDN for mine, duhh! )
(1) Install the certificate on your PC by going to the FQDN of your OWA in Internet Explorer 7 on your PC, not your PDA (XP is much easier, Vista is quite difficult to do this)
For example, open IE7 and put mail.mycompany.com/exchange in the address bar. You should initially get a "There is a problem with this website's security certificate" error, click on "Continue to this Website" Now, next to the address bar at the top you'll see Certificate Error", click it, View, Install, Next, Next, Finish, Yes. Then you'll see "The import was sucessful" <damn, that took a while!)
Close IE 7 completely and reopen it, put "mail.mydomain.com/exchange" in the address bar and you'll go straight to the OWA page, meaning that your import WAS sucessful, yipee!
(2) Click on Start, Run and type "mmc" and OK. This opens the Microsoft Management Console and you'll see Console1 at the top. File, Add/Remove Snap-In, Add, Certificates, Finish, Close, OK. Now expand Certificates, Trusted Root Certification Authorities, Certificates. Find YOUR certificate in the list. Right click, All Task, Export, Next, DER encoded binary, Next, File name. I use c:\mail.mydomain.com so that I can find it easily. Now finish and you'll get the Export was sucessful message.
(3) Connect to your PDA via ActiveSync as a guest, kill your partnership if it exists, you don't need it), copy the cert to your Storage Card and execute it from there.
Now disconnect youR PDA AND open ActiveSync. Server address is the FQDN of you company without the /exchange, for example, mail.mycompany.com. Leave the check mark on the SSL. Next put your user name, password and the NetBIOS name of your domain. The configure you options for the number of days to sync, etc.
That's it!
Now... once you do that and it works, follow this thread, Auto-provisioning POP3 or Exchange mail via UC Mini how-to.
so you can create a cab to do this automatically!
I had this problem before.
For me, it was due to the fact that I installed CESTAR and it messed up my certs. Unintalling CESTAR won't fix it. You got to reload the rom.
From there, I used Leies' Chinese character support which is free and doesn't mess up the certs.
SOLVED
I have been at this issue for over 2 days now, dealing with the error 0x800072f17. About 5 min ago i fixed it. After narrowing the problem down to a certificate error i then proceeded to look at the certificates. There were two in the certificate store (personal) and both were self signed.
One was XXXX (server name) and the other was XXXX(company name) CA.
The server name one had expired. Seeing as how it is self signed, i had our it admin renew it. He forgot to re-assign it to the outlook web access, so i did it myself in the Internet Information Services console on the server.
This had solved only 1/2 of the problem.
The certificate was assigned to the exchange server, not the OWA web site. After discovering that i could not change the issued to name, or create a new certificate (not an admin) i decided to change the activesync settings to sync the INTERNAL OWA address, which is servername.internaldomain.externaldomain.com (this had not previously worked due to the expired certificate)
Now i have a fully functioning push email system.
Nearly all done without admin permissions.
Whilst im new to this site, feel free to pm me about it.
Solving this is the most satisfying thing i have done this year lol.
But does this allow you to get/check email from outside your location? Or do you have to establish a VPN first?

[Q] Active Sync Problems TP2

I am using Active Sync to push my gmail account to my TP2. Everything works fine on my older ROM and then I upgrade ROM to SEA 2.07.707.1
Later, I cannot connect to gmail server again, it keep asking for user and password eventhough I have check "save password". so i cannot sync to gmail.
Can anyone help me please....?
Is it a bug ROM or anything else?
Has it ever connected to Google Sync on the new ROM?
If no, I've noticed that the User Name format given in the Google Sync instructions doesnt' seem to work: [email protected]
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
But this format works: [email protected]
If you haven't already tried, try this format.
Also, sometimes ActiveSync will just stop being able to sync. But this error doesn't ask me to re-input my Google login, it just fails to sync. When this happens, I just uncheck all the boxes in ActiveSync (mail, contacts, calendar) and click Finish. Let ActiveSync do its thing (it will delete all your contacts, mail appointment, which is a bit scary). Then go back into the ActiveSync settings, recheck the boxes and soft reset.
This sounds like a different problem. But if you're stuck without a solution, maybe its worth a try. But you may lose all your contacts and other info from your phone, so its your choice . . .
@redpoint73 Thanks for reply...
I have try your suggestion... still not working... it keeps asking for user and password.
First try....
User : [email protected]
Domain :
also...
User : user
Domain : gmail.com
I try to check and uncheck sync option... nothing's change...

Hopefully, in a matter of weeks, we shall all have the official bada 2.0.
Cheers all, and sorry for the broken link.

Gmail App stuck on "Waiting for sync"

Hi,
I have a rooted HTC desire with MIUI GB Rom. Everything worked fine till yesterday the gmail app suddenly stopped syncing and has been since then stuck on the "waiting to sync" page - "Your email will appear shortly". When i manually sync it, the app force closes. Even if i go into "accounts and sync" and uncheck and re-check auto-sync, the app force closes.
Googling this issue showed that tons of other folks have had this issue but I haven't found a solution. I've literally tried everything (i think):
Manual sync, uncheck and recheck auto sync, phone reboot, removing battery, uninstalling updates, uninstalling the app itself via Titanium backup and reinstalling via market, clearing cache and data of gmail app, clearing cache+dalvik from recovery, full wipe and reinstall of rom, factory reset and trying different rom, upgrading to Nikez lente ICS rom...
...but nothing has worked
Please help. What's the point of an android phone if the gmail app doesnt work
Karan
Turns out that only my account doesn't sync, If i use another email address, it sync normally. Suggestions?
Karan
Hello,
I have exactly the same issue since yesterday (Inspire 4G rooted stock GizRootv_1), though I tested the issue with CM7.1 and the problem is the same.
My gmail email address is stuck at " Waiting for Sync", at times the Gmail App FC. If I add another gmail account, stop syncing my account and I sync Gmail with the new account it works without issues.
I had tried several Factory resets adding the account with problem first, last, nothing the issue appears and is related to my account.
It looks like a Gmail problem rather than a phone/ROM problem.
Any help for troubleshooting?
Thanks

I agree it's a gmail problem but troubleshooting did not yield any results, hence the call for help
Sorry, I missed to post what I wonder if you can check in your account.
Please check if in "Google Dashboard" -> "Account" -> "Websites authorized to access the account" do you have an entry for "Android Login Service — Full Account Access".
Having the same problem you described I tried a different account in the phone and it worked, so far this is the only difference I can find is the not working account does not have the entry described above.
Thanks

It does have this piece of access:
"You have granted the following services access to your Google Account:
Android Login Service — Full Account Access"
Another dead end, I thought that having it missing was the reason I was having problems.
Please let me know if you find something, I am checking with google's gmail forum but no answer from anyone yet, I will post if I find something.
FYI, I tried from scratch three different ROMs (Stock rooted, CM7.2 & MIUI) and installed Gmail as the first app and the problem was the same in all ROMs, it does not connects using my account but it does with two other different accounts I tried, my phone is an Inspire 4G.
Thanks

Ok, today the app suddenly started working normally!! :victory:
These are the things I tried, maybe it'll help:
1) Leave gmail unsynced for a few days
2) Go into IMAP settings on pc gmail and sync nothing but the inbox
3) Take all the inbox mails and put it a new unsynced folder, so the only thing ure syncing is an empty inbox
4) Update Gmail to 2.3.6
All the best!:good:
Success!!
I finally got mine working:
What I think got it to work was going into System Settings/Data Usage then hit the menu button and make sure Auto-Sync data is checked on.
Then I went to Apps/All/Email/Force Stop/Clear Data
Then I Added the Account back in and it worked!!
Just in case, I had also previously done the following (but unsuccessful until I did the above):
I've updated the ROM, removed/re-added accounts, updated GAPPS, Revoked access/Signing in again in Google/Account/Authorizing Applications
I encountered this problem after changing the email account associated with an Android phone. Avoiding the Factory Reset, I cleared the data in Manage Applications with the Gmail apps. Contacts and Calendar synched OK, but the dreaded "Waiting for Sync" message persisted when launching gmail.
Clearing the data for *all* Google apps solved the problem: gmail, gmail storage, google apps, and google backup transport. Then I launched gmail and went through the gmail account setup process. One or more of these two things was the key: configuring the new account through gmail or clearing data from all the google apps.
Make sure Auto-sync is enabled
Press your device's < Home > button, then press < Menu >.
Select Settings.
Select Accounts & sync.
Make sure the checkbox for Auto-sync is checked.

This worked for me! No need to delete data or anything. My settings were different, as shown below:
Settings > accounts section > Gmail
Found the account (it says sync is disabled)
Clicked on the account
Sync Gmail / tap to sync now / sync disabled < I did this. It took a few minutes, and completed the sync. Yay!

Unlock car multimedia system

I'm trying to find information about a multimedia system i have installed in my Skoda, the sticker on the device says CNT100, which is manufactured by CarNeTek (device page - https://www.carnetek.com.tw/products_detail/15.htm, not sure if they are the manufactures or just a reseller).
The company which sell and install it locally are not willing to share any information about the device, and of course are not willing to unlock it (to install applications from the play store, tweak configuration, etc.).
On the device there are 6 dip switches (which i couldn't figure out what they control), and no visible button (to get into recovery), i can get to the play store, and install applications - but as soon the installation is completed - they get uninstalled (there is a list of application that are not automatically uninstalled).
The launcher looks like a custom local version, there is no way to get into the settings page and the notification bar cannot be clicked (or dragged down), if i click multiple times on the menu - i get a dialog for some configuration, where i'm prompt for password (the dialog has a random number on it - which i suspect is used to generate correct password).
is anyone familiar with this device? or can suggest a way to unlock it?
(attached images of the device and the boot screen)
Hey mrtowel!
Trying to figure out that as well.
You said "if i click multiple times on the menu"
Where is this menu? possible to send a photo of that?
I'm talking about an Israeli version
Seems to be customized by [email protected]
sorry but i was wrong describing the way to get to the password dialog, on the home screen - there is a weather widget, showing the weather on the left side and the clock on the right side, multiple taps on the weather allows you to reboot the device, while multiple taps on the clock gets you to the password dialog.
I made some progress with the device - still working on getting it unlocked completely, let me know if you want more details.

Hey!
Just found that new to me. Pushed 6 times on the clock of the weather widget and got a prompt for the password. I receive a 9 digit number with that.
Also found that if you do the same on the temperature indication, you'll be prompt for device restart.
So that's a progress.
Anyways, I will be happy to hear from you, what progress you have made on this.
Will send you a PM.
Did someone have any success?

try to get to app store (in case it is installed) through one of the installed apps using the 'rate us' option, you can also try and push a play store link through bluetooth, if it works - the android system will launch the play store app, and you'll be able to setup your account.
Once you get to the play store - download and install Googel app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox&hl=en) this will let you ask google assistant to 'Open Display Settings' (in my case this option let me enable the drag down menu, where i could easily access the settings and other stuff).
hope that helps
?
Hey did you succeed?
please help
Hi
did any one of you had any success with getting into setting menu ?
i can get to google play...but as was posted before, everything i try to install immediately erase itself.....

thanks
Thanks for the tips I've made it to download youtube! But how I can bypass the limit to install all apps from play store?
Also how can I cancel the restrictions of using apps during drive?
Thanks
Allon
Hey @mrtowel any change you can share some more details?
I tried connecting to the USB with my laptop to try doing some adb commands but it did not detect anything
I'm also wondering about the dip switch
and how to get the password bypass
Would really like to hear some more details if you can share please?
Just came here to see if can recall my steps from last time i played with the device (i kind of gave up, as it worked well with what there is, but recent update made it work really slow).
turns out there is a post on facebook (https://facebook.com/groups/gilcar/permalink/729881061134680/?comment_id=729883497801103), i'm going to try and build some utility to generate unlock codes (last time, i managed to get to an adb terminal, but i wasn't aware of the `pm hide` option to disable the installation blocker ****).
will post updates here if i get some progress
For anyone interested, attached the list of whitelisted apps. a jar to generate the code to enable tech mode and how i disabled the installation blocker
For the jar - you would need to get your device Wifi MAC address (see old post from 2019 on how to enable the navigation bar), which can be retrieved from the 'אודות' section. (run the jar by running 'java -jar codeGen_jar.jar 00:11:22:33:44:55' - replace the numbers with your device mac address)
Wifi must be enabled - before the next step
To get to the code, hit few clicks on the clock widget in the home screen would prompt you with a password (if the code generator matches your version of connect-it (if it isn't - see bypass admin mode workaround below), the codes would match), enter the unlock code (admin mode result from the codeGen output) and move to the apps section - you would see 'tech mode' application.
Wifi must be connected before the next step
On the tech mode application - you would have another code (tech mode result from the codeGen) enter it - and it would open a page to enable adb remote server (you must be connected to a wifi network to get it to work).
Connect to the adb using a remote shell from another device (or a laptop), to the specified IP on port 1917 (note that most mobile tethering options won't work due to networking limitations). If you don't have an accessible wifi network - see Wifi Workaround below
From adb, run the following:
to disable the application which blocks installations: pm hide com.ituran.installationblocker
Disable updates: pm hide com.ituran.systemupdateservice
Disable blocking applications while driving: pm hide com.ituran.driveusagemonitor
Tips:
While in admin mode, you can see all installed applications, and pin them to the start page of the home screen, recommend to pin Play Store app (as it is usually hidden)
Don't try to enable or enter 'Guest mode' (i tried it, and the device went into boot loop)
The codes generated are date sensitive, so either generate new ones if you won't use them in the same day, or change the device date.
Wifi Workaround : a workaround can be to install modified version of 'Remote ADB Shell' (attached) on the device, save it to your mobile phone, and push it to the device through bluetooth, this version is the same version as 'Remote ADB Shell' from the play store - only names 'Spotify' which will keep it installed on the device, after installation, run it and connect to 127.0.0.1 on port 1917 instead.
Bypass admin mode workaround : while Admin Mode enables you to view the hidden applications, in the above process, it mainly gives you the option to run the tech mode app. if the code for the admin mode isn't working for you, install 'Amaze file explorer' (attached - it was renamed to bypass the installation blocker) by pushing it through bluetooth.
You can find more details on this facebook post (not mine - but i used details from this thread to figure out how to disable the application from ADB)
Enjoy and drive safely.
