Is it actually possible to install a new radio on s-on rooted hox?
I have seen many conflicting opinions about this on this forum but does anybody have conclusive proof that this can actually be done sucessfully?
I think the only way you can do it is with the RUU/OTA, although I could be wrong
Just flashed the latest radio. It is indeed possible.

Get your suitable radio from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689679&highlight=radio
..and flash as you would a mod/rom.
And check/update RIL (if necessary) with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sibbor.getril&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5zaWJib3IuZ2V0cmlsIl0.
Make sure you do a backup first, and flash at your own risk. I've had no problems so far but it's only been on a few hours.

Ohh I thought with HTC unlock you couldn't flash radios that way but after some searching I found that its flashed in custom roms also.
Thankyou for the reply though

I'm aware of this but why does it not register the new radio in hboot only in settings/about? These values can also be changed by editing the build prop I believe?

Check bortak's guide.
I can't get temporary root , because visionary not works with 2.3.3
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691639
I saw it, the problem is
You must be rooted to try the following, it seems you can't write to mtd0 without root.

You'll need the help of HTC
Search for ZergRush, connect phone to pc via wi-fi and connect adb. After you gain root (via adb shell) you can flash whatever you want... Flashing mtd0 solved this problem when I had it.

I hope it will help some people, I tried to share it as much as I could
Thanks a lot !
I found some script.
Create on this link mtd0 and put it in files.
You need just change ip in 4 row and it will work!
It easiest way to un-usb-brick.
Should I wait for S-OFF, or just unlock and add custom recov. + custom ROM?
Not very good with this stuff, so any cons by unlocking allready?
Or pros for waiting for S-OFF?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Pros - HTC don't know what you're doing
Cons - might be waiting a while for S-OFF

Persona I see no difference in having SOFF or an unlocked bootloader...
For the end user that is... Im able to install custom roms (arhd), backup/restore via recovery & gain superuser access when using the phone...
What exactly else does SOFF give? Apart from void the warranty?
Thanks

S-OFF gives you ability to change radio etc, plus also you can return it to a locked state (as opposed to re-locked) and HTC have no record of you doing it. It's primarily a warranty concern.

I was hesitant at first, but after unlocking the bootloader and rooting, I could not be happier! the phone is not even 2 days old yet!
Its amazing that I realeased so many utilities in one month, and here I have another one!
I present to you:
Unroot for Wildfire S by rezo609 v1.0
What does it do?
*Removes root, as in Superuser, su binary, and busybox
*Flashes stock 2.3.3 recovery
*Flashes stock 2.3.5 recovery
*Returns bootloader into LOCKED state (copied and heavily modified from simonsimon34 utility)
*Installs Drivers for windows
**Everything above is your choice**
Download
Unroot for WFS v1.0: click here
What's new?
Version 1.0
***Original Release***
Gimme the F.A.Q.
Q: Does this root my phone?
A: No, thats why its called unroot
Q: Is this universal?
A: No, because the recovery and bootloader lock module is designed for the wildfire s.
Q: Is there a chance of bricking my phone.
A: No, unless you disconnect the cable while flashing the misc.

I don't have any baseband.img at the moment, nor do I know what baseband my phone is currently using because it says baseband version "unknown" in my settings.
What country/region is v20d for?

I am going to be releasing some flashable zips soon that will install baseband/firmware. Lots of people ask how to install them, and I suspect making it into flashable zips will make it easier for everyone (even though it's not that hard to begin with -- nothing wrong with making it even easier).

That would be awesome! I currently use some scripts that I made with Gscript to flash various basebands and firmwares.

if u flash icecold ur kernel alrdy will get changed to the one included ind lordmods rom. no need to worry
Just to clarify: all ROMs include kernels, not just IceCold. So even if you switch to another ROM, you don't have to worry about the kernel. Sometimes other kernels are downloadable, but those are usually available so people can test them out for the next release of a ROM.
Got it
